Hi everybody,
I have a web application that it has a login JSP page that call other page that it has a call to servlet but when it tried to call it, tomcat is showing the following message: Servlet gppController isn't available (error 404).
I checked all tomcat configuration, i put my classes (Javabeans and Servlets including gppController class) are in the directory C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 5.5\webapps\GPP_website\WEB-INF\classes.
My question is: What are you doing wrong?. I don't undertand this error.
Thanks and regards.

That's ok, but my error is different.
In web.xml of application has the following configuration:

  • Error 403 when trying to run a web application

    I am trying to run a web application(J2EE and velocity) that works perfectly fine on Tomcat but doesn't work on weblogic. I was initially getting a nullpointer error but I got rid of it when I removed xercesImpl.jar from my application's library folder and repackaged the war file. However, when I try to run the application now, I get the following error:-
    *Error 403--Forbidden
    From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:
    10.4.4 403 Forbidden
    The server understood the request, but is refusing to fulfill it. Authorization will not help and the request SHOULD NOT be repeated. If the request method was not HEAD and the server wishes to make public why the request has not been fulfilled, it SHOULD describe the reason for the refusal in the entity. This status code is commonly used when the server does not wish to reveal exactly why the request has been refused, or when no other response is applicable.*
    The application has been deployed successfully but I am unable to run it using the link generated in the testing tab. The application. I was wondering if there is any workaround for this error.

    The testing link is using, the host:port/contextroot. Note that the URL is per default not accessible and give justly the 403 forbidden error.
    When you have an index.jsp (or something similar) in the root of your Web application it will automatically load that one, otherwise
    you will get the forbidden message.

  • Exception when trying to run an Web Application that uses a Web service

    Hello All,
    I get an exception when trying to run an Web Application that uses a Web service. The web application is a WebDynpro Application.(an application similar to the one "Using an Email Web Service in Web Dynpro" in the tutorial section of Web Dynpro but using a different web service)
    The exception is
    <b>Service call exception; nested exception is: com.sap.engine.services.webservices.jaxrpc.exceptions.InvalidResponseCodeException: Invalid Response Code: (404) Not Found.</b>
    Could anyone give me an idea on what might be the problem ?
    Regards,
    Loveline.

    Hello,
    Like you said it was the problem with url.
    The webservice I used is actually running on the local machine (where the NetWeaver developer studio is installed); so in the url I had specified localhost. But I deployed the application on another server(SAP J2EE Engine). That is why it didn't work. On changing the url as required, the application is working fine.
    Thanks !
    Regards,
    Loveline.

  • Error message when trying to run Apache Web Server from OSX 10.3.9

    Hi there
    I accidently deleted the index.html file, and upon replacing it, I get the message "Forbidden
    You don't have permission to access /~fourdcmac/ on this server.
    Apache/1.3.33 Server at 4.local Port 80"
    I have tried repairing permissions using Disk Utility, and manuall checking the permissions on the file against the same file on other machines.
    Any ideas anyone??
    Thanks
    Macfool

    I think the problem is that typically in Apache if you don't have an index.html file then the server will display a listing of files in its directory. This is controlled by having an "Options Indexes" directive in the configuration file httpd.conf.
    If your permissions on the folder in question don't allow you to read the folder contents, then if your index.html is missing this error may come up.
    Also, if you don't have an index.html file, and you have "Options -Indexes" then you will not be allowed to browse the folder.
    Your best bet is to create a new index file.

  • Get installation path of web application from class file

    Can anybody tell me how I can get the path on disk to the root of my web application from a class file. Im running under Tomcat 5.5 and I have 3 copies of the same webapp under 3 differenet directories:
    C:\xxx\dev\yyy
    C:\xxx\test\yyy
    C:\xxx\prod\yyy
    Based on which directory the web-app, I need to do a lookup on a properties file to pull the right jdbc connection to connect to the appropriate database. So it would be similar to using getServletContext().getRealPath("/") from a .jsp file.
    Thanks,
    Jason

    Sorry for not clarifying. I have a properties file with name/value pairs. I know where this properties file is and I can do a lookup in it. In this file, I have jdbc connection names which point to corresponding jdbc resources in my context.xml file.
    jdbcDevDatabase=jdbc/tfmDev
    jdbcTestDatabase=jdbc/tfmTest
    jdbcProdDatabase=jdbc/tfmProd
    These connections are for dev, test and prod databases. Now based on where the web-app is installed on disk, i.e-dev dir, test dir, prod dir, I want to retrieve the corresponding connection. The problem is I don't know how to get a handle to the web apps real path on disk without access to the request object or using getServletContext().getRealPath("/") which are not available to me in a class file.
    Thanks,
    Jason

  • A web developer problem while running a web application

    Hi all,
    I'm novice to J2EE.
    I've encountered a problem while accessing the deployed module in weblogic 8.1 server.
    I'm sure that the webapplication module is deployed as i saw my module in administration console & also the status said that it is deployed.
    when i access my web application by specifying the proper server and port no and context root it is showing
    either 505 - resource not found error(http://localhost:7001/Suresh-2/Suresh) or 404 - not found error.( http://localhost:7001/Suresh-2/Suresh)
    Now let me elaborate what i've done till now.
    My webapplication folder structure is : C:\bea\user_projects\domains\mydomain\applications\Suresh\WEB-INF\classes\Sai\ServExamp.class
    My servlet is ServExamp.java
    I created a folder called "Suresh". In that folder created another folder called "WEB-INF". In WEB-INF created a folder called "Classes".
    Since my servlet is in package "Sai", the .class file reside in \Suresh\WEB-INF\Classes\Sai\ServExamp.class
    The source code is :
    package Sai;
    import javax.servlet.*;
    import javax.servlet.http.*;
    import java.io.*;
    public class ServExamp extends HttpServlet
    public void doPost(HttpServletRequest req,HttpServletResponse res)throws IOException
    PrintWriter out=res.getWriter();
    java.util.Date today=new java.util.Date();
    out.println("<html>"+"<body>"+
    "<h1 align=center>HF\'s Chapter1 Servlet </h1>"
    +"<br>"+today+"</body>"+"</html>");
    Now i'm almost done creating a web application. Next, I constructed a simple web.xml descriptor that gives a web friendly name for my servlet, and points to the servlet. I constructed web.xml descriptor file in the WEB-INF folder (C:\bea\user_projects\domains\mydomain\applications\Suresh\WEB-INF\).
    The web.xml file source is :
    <!DOCTYPE web-app
    PUBLIC "-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD Web Application 2.3//EN"
    "http://java.sun.com/dtd/web-app_2_3.dtd">
    <web-app>
    <display-name>Hello World Web Application</display-name>
    <description>Test Servlet</description>
    <servlet>
    <servlet-name>ServExamp</servlet-name>
    <servlet-class>Sai.ServExamp</servlet-class>
    </servlet>
    <servlet-mapping>
    <servlet-name>ServExamp</servlet-name>
    <url-pattern>/Suresh</url-pattern>
    </servlet-mapping>
    </web-app>
    Now I have told Weblogic that the URI /Suresh corresponds to my servlet "Sai.ServExamp".
    My Web Application is ready to be deployed at this point. I logged onto Weblogic's admin console,
    1) clicked on deployments, then navigated to "Web Application Modules" .
    2) Clicked "Deploy new Web Application Module"
    3) Navigated to the location of your web application folder (Suresh). There was a radio button next to it indicating that I can select that folder as a valid web application.
    4) I Clicked that radio button and clicked "Target Module".
    5) It informed that my web application "Suresh" will be deployed to myServer.It asked a name for my web application deployment. By default it was "Suresh"
    I clicked Deploy.
    6) After deployment, my web application "Suresh" appeared in the "Web Application Modules" tree on the left.
    I Clicked on "Suresh"( my web application) then clicked the testing tab, then clicked the link shown there(http://localhost:7001/Suresh-2).
    It was not showing my servlet (showed a 403 error)
    Error - 403
    This status code is commonly used when the server does not wish to reveal exactly why the request has been refused, or when no other response is applicable.
    I think so it came b'coz I don't have an index.html or index.jsp page.
    7)Instead,I added my servlet on to the URL it provided.
    http://localhost:7001/Suresh-2/Suresh
    It is showing these error code: Http: 505 resource not allowed
    The page cannot be displayed
    The page you are looking for cannot be displayed because the address is incorrect.
    Please try the following:
    If you typed the page address in the Address bar, check that it is entered correctly.
    Open the localhost:7001 home page and then look for links to the information you want.
    Click Search to look for information on the Internet.
    when i just type : http://localhost:7001/ -> Error 404 not found error
    it's showing
    Error 404--Not Found
    From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:
    10.4.5 404 Not Found
    The server has not found anything matching the Request-URI. No indication is given of whether the condition is temporary or permanent.
    If the server does not wish to make this information available to the client, the status code 403 (Forbidden) can be used instead. The 410 (Gone) status code SHOULD be used if the server knows, through some internally configurable mechanism, that an old resource is permanently unavailable and has no forwarding address.
    I want to run my web application & any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    with regards,
    S.SayeeNarayanan.
    Note: I even deployed my war file, which i got by execution of (jar cv0f webapp.war . ) command from the root directory of my web application i.e. Suresh
    Then executed my webapplication it is showing
    error-505 resource not allowed.

  • Accessing web application from users' PC

    Hi there,
    My server is up and running, appsets are working nicely and everything works perfectly. But I have an issue when accessing the web application from a user PC on the same domain, and I'm not sure if it's down to me or not.
    From the users' PC, with BPC for Excel open, I click on the link for BPC Web, and Internet Explorer opens and attempts to take me to the web app. But if the address contains the server name, it doesn't work. If I manually type the IP address in instead it works.
    Why is this? Have I forgotten to do something, or is it a DNS problem, or other local IT issue?
    I'm sure I've missed something really silly, but can't figure out what!
    Any ideas appreciated!
    Thanks a lot,
    Jason

    Hi Akim,
    I think this is actually part of a wider problem - I have been testing this on my local PC (over the clients' VPN) and now it works fine. But I just logged onto the clients PC using Webex and I can't get into ANYTHING! Not the Admin client, not BPC for Office, not the web application - nothing.
    I think I need to go there on monday and actually go through this with one of their network guys - I'm not convinced that it's a problem with the server anymore!
    Thanks for your help - I will keep you posted!

    Guys,
    You are asking about an issue that was a pain in the nick for me few months ago. The problem is that you won't find mych help here as I figured out that Apex geeks here either did not do much webservices or ended up hating it as i do :) . This is an error that can be due many different reason, let me ask you this:
    1- Does your the other system you are trying to call through webservices using HTTPS ?
    2- If yes, did you create a valid oracle wallet for that https connection ?
    3- Make sure you are using the correct URL ( am sure you do, just double check )
    4- If using a proxy, then you have to define that in the web service reference creation page

  • Can you reload web application from the Weblogic console?

              Good day, eh!
              Can you reload all your jsp/servlet classes of your
              web application from the Weblogic console?
              A one big button labeled 'Reload application' would be very
              good property in Weblogic

    Hi,
              I agree it is a much needed feature. Suppose I just change an init
              param of one application in the web.xml, I don't want to take down the
              15 other webapps running on my server just to be able to have that web
              app restart and re-read is configuration. Of course, I could program
              some servlet that allows changing application attributes and to enable
              restarting, but really this a)does not cover all the cases (i.e. addind
              an EBJ reference binding to web.xml) b) should be provided by the app
              server, not programmed by every little programmer again & again.

  • Moving web-application from WebLogic 10.0.0 to 10.3.3 - EJB Exception

    Hello all,
    I've moved my web-application from weblogic 10.0.0 to the new platform with Weblogic 10.3.3. After this I had some JMSEceptions (unable to run JMS methods inside of servlet or EJB) and they were fixed. For now I got new exception:

    Seems that it happened due to updating weblogic version (changes in jee, jms, ejb, jpa versions?). Could you please advice me how to fix this issue?
    Thanks, Ilya

    I belive there is no problems for this change, because the versions are the same for java at least for OaS, for weblogic you should see documentation. I think you can try deploying you app to new environment if you get any noclassdeffound error or something like it then you could have problems for versions.

  • Migrating application from tomcat 3 to tomcat 5

    Hello everybody,
    Does anyone have information about some kind of manual or tutorial with steps to migrate applications from Tomcat 3 to Tomcat 5??
    Thanks a lot,
    Johnny

    What issues are you having? There have been some important changes between the Servlet and JSP specs between the two but most of these have been additions - nothing that will be too hard to handle.
    Does your application use a database? If so there have been configuration changes between Tomcat 3 and 5 but for that the Tomcat 5 docs are very good at telling you what you need.
    I would start by trying it and see where you get problems. I think it will be easier than you think, depending on how complicated your app is.

  • SSO to Web Application from Portal

    Hi,
        I am working on a scenario where I need to access a Web Application from the Portal.
        I read about the Application Integrator that is provided by the Portal .
        I wanted to know that can I only have SSO to those Web Application that accept the userid and password and as URL parameters using Application Integrator , ie: those applications that have post method cannot be integrated.
       Please help me out with clearing this doubt.
    Thnx,
    Pravesh Puria.

    Hi  Abdulbasit ,
        Please give me more details , we have a Lotes Notes Web application hosted on Domino server , another is J2EE based application. I need to achieve SSO to each of these applications from the SAP Portal.
       I followed the below listed steps:
       Created two systems one for each Web application based on the template generated from the application integrator. I entered the user mapping values for both the systems.
       I also created two IViews. When I preview , the logon page of the web application opens but the user credentials are not passed to the application.
       Please help me with the steps to achieve the SSO , from the reply I interpret that Logon ticket method was used to achieve the SSO and user mapping.
        My email id is : [email protected]
        It will be of immense help to me.
    Thnx,
    Pravesh Puria.

  • Running a Java application from a Swing GUI

    Hi,
    I was wondering if there is a simple way to run a Java application from a GUI built with Swing. I would presume there would be, because the Swing GUI is a Java application itself, technically.
    So, I want a user to click a button on my GUI, and then have another Java application, which is in the same package with the same classpaths and stuff, run.
    Is there a simple way to do this? Do any tutorials exist on this? If someone could give me any advice, or even a simple "yes this is possible, and it is simple" or "this is possible, but difficult" or "no this is not possible" answer, I would appreciate it. If anyone needs more information, I'll be happy to provide it.
    Thanks,
    Dan

    I don't know if it is possible to run the main method from another Java app by simply calling it...
    But you could just copy and paste the stuff from your main method into a new static method called something like runDBQuery and have all the execution run from there.
    How does that sound? Is it possible?
    What I'm suggeting is:
    Original
    public class DBQuery{
    public static void methodA(){
    public static void doQuery(){
    methodA();
    public static void main(String[] args){
    // Your method calls
    //Your initializing
    doQuery();
    }Revised:
    public class DBQuery{
    public static void methodA(){
    public static void doQuery(){
    methodA();
    public static void doMyQuery(){
    // Your method calls
    //Your initializing
    doQuery();
    // No main needed!!
    //public static void main(String[] args){
    // Your method calls
    //doQuery();
    //}
