Hi Azeem.
Check out values specified for JAVA_HOME, PATH and CLASSPATH under environment variable. Was facing the same problem. Changed the values to point to jdk1.5 and it is working now.
BTW.
You don't have to uninstall jdk1.4.

Same issue here... Been trying to get this working since a week now. I tried all the solutions like memory heap and all but no luck.
One thing that I would like to know is that, in some threads the resolution was to recompile the INS_FORMS.MK file under /forms/lib32 but with my installation I don't have that "lib32" folder under /forms/ and I can not even find that file anywhere in my entire installation.
I am using 12.1.1 on Windows Server 2008.
Any help or guidelines is greatly appreciated.

• Getting Database Logon Prompt when trying to run report from Infoview

I have a user who has 2 Crystal reports loaded in InfoView.  The reports are similar except for the parameters.  When scheduling one of the reports, she is being prompted with the database logon information everytime she tries to enter the parameters.  But on the other, she isn't.  All she is prompted with is the parameters of the report.  Which setting in InfoView or CMC controls the database logon prompt? We are on BOE 11.5.
Thanks,
Maureen

Dynamic Parameters. You'll want to get all your report designers up on this topic.
When you create a dynamic parameter in a Crystal Report, and then publish it to the Enterprise, you are creating a Business View, with all it's underlying necessary layers. Dynamic Parameters exist to be able to use the same LOV (a list of current customers) from a database for more than one report. These dynamic parameter LOVs act like a mini report that runs against the database and gets the current values for selection, then the selection(s) are used to run the overall report.
So I create a report, and in it I create a dynamic Customer LOV. When I save it, the Enterprise creates a Data Connection (DC), Data Foundation (DF), Business Element (BE), Business View (BV), and the list of values is built on the Prompt Group. So, my Business View Manager, Repository Explorer will show (in the default Dynamic Cascading Prompts folder):
Customer_DC
Customer_DF
Customer_BE
Customer_BV
Customer - Prompt Group
Customer (the LOV)
The idea is that next time I create a report and need a customer parameter, I select the existing dynamic group. If the report designer is unaware of this, and next time they create a new report that needs a customer LOV, they creates a new dynamic LOV "Customer", when saved to the Enterprise, it repeats the above. Since repository objects must have unique names, you will now have additional items something like:
Customer 2_DC
Customer 2_DF
Customer 2_BE
Customer 2_BV
Customer 2 - Prompt Group
Customer 2 (the LOV)
So you can see how that folder will get filled with duplicates pretty quickly. Which ones were created and used in which reports? Have to open the report in Crystal Reports, open the parameter for Edit and verify the LOV name (_2, _3, _4, etc). If you do in fact discover there are dupes, you can change it to a single one for all reports using a dynamic LOV, re-save them to the Enterprise, then delete the dupes in the BVM.
You've already discovered how to use the BVM to update the data connection to include/save the database credentials. The only other common issue is sometimes the LOV rights need to be changed in order to allow users to "Edit" the LOV (select different values in the LOV). You'd have to run the report as an end user, not the admin account or the report designer account to verify that works.
Another item of note is that these dynamic LOVs are run by the Report Application Server (RAS), regardless of which viewer you are using.
The Business View Manager administration guide has more information on the subject.

• Getting an error when trying to run PowerShell from C#

Hello,
I'm trying to excute PowerShell Command from code behind (C#), but i'm getting the following error:
"The type initializer for 'System.Management.Automation.SessionStateScope' threw an exception. "
Any help would be highly appreciated.

You need to post C# questions in the C# forum.  If this is ASP.Net then post in ASP forums.
You cannot run PowerShell on a web form.  The security will not let you load the assemblies and teh execution environment will not be set up correctly.
THe ASP.Net people will point you in the correct direction.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

• Error when trying to run UCM from browser -The portal page for your Content

Hi
When I try and run the UCM in a browser using "http://localhost/idc", it showing
"The portal page for your Content Server needs to be rebuilt. Start the WebLayout Editor as a standalone application and select Update Portal... from the Options menu."
I did see a previous message that says to go to Weblayout Editor Applet - Options - Build Home Page - Update -Ok, but I was not able to see the Build Home Page option in the drop down.
Any ideas what may be causing this issue?
Thanks in advance for your help
Cheers
Sylvia

Hi Srinath
Thanks for your reply.
Commenting out the following lines still does not fix my problem.
<div align=center><b>Welcome to UCM10g for SIF DEV</b></div><br>
         <$if IsLoggedIn$>UserName = <i><$UserName$></i><br><$endif$>
         <$if IsDynamic$>Current Time = <i><$dateCurrent()$></i>
         <$else$>This is a static page.
         <$endif$>
I have installed this product on two environments following the same kind format.
In our dev environment I am able to type in the following to get to the Welcome to Content Server Page
http://devenv/idc/
In the other environment I use the following and I get that the error "The portal page for your Content Server needs to be rebuilt. Start the WebLayout Editor as a standalone application and select Update Portal... from the Options menu."
http://testenv/idc
So the only way to get to the Content Server Page is to type the full path as below which I don't want to do, because I want the welcome screen to appear first.
https://testenv/idc/idcplg?IdcService=GET_DOC_PAGE&Action=GetTemplatePage&Page=HOME_PAGE&Auth=Internet
Is there a way I can configure the application to get to my welcome screen instead of getting the error message detailed above?
Thanks

I am running reports from Forms 6i on the WEB. I did not encounter your problem. Nevertheless I would like to share the following with you.
RUN_PRODUCT doesn't work for calling reports ON THE WEB. Instead using RUN_PRODUCT do the following:
1. Install Oracle Reports Server
2. For WEB calls of reports use WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT
3. Learn how to pass parameters to the reports. It is a litlle bit strange, but it is explaint excellent in the documentation to the Reports Server.
I hope this will help you.

Hi team,
Customer is trying to run script from OTM but is getting a "JWG file does not exist" error. I found the following metalink note and the customer has verified that the repositories are defined with exactly the same names & paths in OTM & Openscript.
Scripts Failing To Play Back From OATS Test Manager (OTM) (Doc ID 1587941.1)
I've also checked the following post in the forums but this doesn't apply to the customer because both the OTM & agent are on Windows:
https://forums.oracle.com/message/10707963
Appreciate any pointers
Thanks,
Krishna

Hi Krishna
Is the agent running as a windows service or started from an interactive batch?
What kind of script is that? Web, Forms, Siebel, other?
Are they different repositories or the same? If different, how do you copy scripts from one to the other one?
Cheers
JB

• Running Fop from JAVA program

Hi all,
this may be a rookie question....hope you can help.
I can run Fop (0.18.0) perfectly from the command line. I created a style
sheet (xsl file), which converts the xml file. On the command line, I input
the xsl file, the xml file, and state the name for the pdf file.
Now I'm trying to run Fop from within method in my JAVA program. This
doesn't seem to work. Here's the code. Can someone tell me what I'm doing
wrong? Is it okay to run Fop this way? My classpath is set up properly
(it runs on the command line).
Here's the code..............Thanks in advance for any help.
String [] pdfParams = new String[6];
pdfParams[0] = "-xsl";
pdfParams[1] = xslFile;
pdfParams[2] = "-xml";
pdfParams[3] = xmlFile;
pdfParams[4] = "-pdf";
pdfParams[5] = pdfFile;
org.apache.fop.apps.Fop.main(pdfParams);
Regards,
Suryakant.

When you post code, please use
and
tags as described in Formatting tips on the message entry page. It makes it much easier to read.
One thing that jumps out at me is that you're calling waitFor() and then trying to read the process' stdout. But waitFor waits for the process to die, so the stream is no longer there when you try to read it.

but i hav report in e:\ then why its getting?

Hi,
I suggest you not to use the "E:\" directory letter, but the REPORTS_PATH instead.
<p>
from the Online Help
</p>
<p>
On Windows, edit environment variables through the Registry Editor (Start > Run > Regedit).
</p>
<p>
On UNIX, edit environment variables by revising and running the shell script that defines the initial default values (reports.sh). If you do this, be sure to keep a backup of the original, unaltered reports.sh file.

• Problem in running report from forms 6i..........!

hi all,
I am working in oracle forms 6i and i am trying to run report from
form while press one of the push-button. works fine upto 2nd line from the
begin key-word.After that its showing error like " FRM-40738:Argument 1 to builtin
REPORT_OBJECT_STATUS cannot be null.". Can any-one help me of how to solve this and
wat would be the problem.........?
declare
         run_rep varchar2(200);
         rep_obj report_object;
         rep_stat varchar2(20);
begin
         rep_obj := find_report_object('report46');
         run_rep := run_report_object(rep_obj);
         rep_stat := report_object_status(run_rep);
         if rep_stat = 'FINISHED' then
         copy_report_object_output(run_rep, 'C:\Documents and Settings\trainee\Desktop\Icons\test.pdf');
         else
              message('error when running report');
         end if;
end;
Please help asup!
regards,
jame

hi rosario,
Thanks for ur reply. My requirement is, I want to generate pdf file from the report output. so i wrote the following code which is taken from d2k documentation. Problem area has been highlighted in bold.
declare
run_rep varchar2(200);
rep_obj report_object;
rep_stat varchar2(20);
begin
rep_obj := find_report_object('report46');
run_rep := run_report_object(rep_obj);
rep_stat := report_object_status(run_rep);
if rep_stat = 'FINISHED' then
copy_report_object_output(run_rep, 'C:\Documents and Settings\trainee\Desktop\Icons\test.pdf');
else
message('error when running report');
end if;
end;
Report is running but while coming to report_object_status. complior shows error like "FRM-40738:Argument 1 to builtin REPORT_OBJECT_STATUS cannot be null". Parameter for report_object_status is null, i dont know y it is null because report is running. If report is running means,then there must be some values in run_rep.
why complior doesnt find the values from run_rep.......???

jame
