I just switched from IPhone to Samsung galaxy. now all my friends and familiy with Iphones that text me are not going through. How do I fix this

Turn off iMessage on your old iPhone.
Contact Apple Support at 1-800-MYAPPLE and request the Account Security team.  They can send a text message to your new device that is using the old phone number, and can unregister your phone number from your Apple ID/iMessage.

  • I unregistered my phone number with my apple id and now i need to register it back

I went from an iPhone 4 to a Samsung Galaxy s4.  When I made the switch I was unable to receive text messages from iPhone users, so I "unregistered" my phone number from my apple id.  I also called tech support and they had to remove the license from the phone number.  I was still unable to receive messages from iPhone users, so I caved and ended up switching back to Apple products and bought an iPhone 5.  I can't figure out how to register my phone number and device with my apple id.  Can someone help?  Thanks!!!

Well, try as I might, and despite the publicity and hype around this and 'It just works' for me it just doesn't.  I updated the phone and ipad to IOS 6, MacBook to 10.8.2 and no matter what I do, how many log ins and outs the ipad and the Macbook ONLY give me the option to use one of two email addresses.  No phone number option is anywhere to be seen.  I did rather expect that I would just actvate imessage on the iphone and then do so on the ipad and macbook, merely having to select the number as the methof of contact, or even having it there as the default.  Too much to ask I suppose!! I find I spend far more time trying to get Apple innovation to work than I ever did with Windows to be honest!  I also tried entering the phone number many times and go many 'verification sent' only to receive squat.
Sick and tired of trying to fathom this now so I gues I'll just leave it off rather than find myself back in the days of imessage confusion where some would go to a phone, some to an email, messages only being visible on certain devices depending on where they were sent - all the things that made imessage a complete PITA and far more trouble than it was worth.
I hoped that maybe this would fix those problems.  Maybe it will, when I can invest the time in digging around the internet trying to get it to 'just work'!

  • Will blocking someone's phone number block iMessages as well as calls/ texts?

I recently blocked someone's phone number on my account (we both have iPhones) and am wondering....
        a. will this person still be able to send me an iMessage?
        b. what do they see on their end when they send a text message?
If you know from experience and can share that would be great! Thanks!

They will not get a message saying their number is blocked if it's a straight SMS text. They may get a "delivery failure" notice on the message. For calls, they will receive a recording telling them that your number is not receiving calls.
As far as iMessages, if you delete the person from your contacts, you can go into your Settings--> Notifications--> Messages... at the bottom of this screen you will see Show iMessage Alerts From:... change your option from Everyone to My Contacts Only. This doesn't technically "block" anything, but it does prevent the message from reaching you. You can, however, still iMessage them.
Otherwise, you can turn iMessaging off in your settings, under the messages tab. Then ALL messages from everyone come through as text messages and the block service Verizon offers will take care of the numbers you enter.

  • When i open safari an apple alert comes up with a phone number.  when i call i get put on hold forever.  how do i get this off there?

when i open safari an apple alert comes up with a phone number to call.  when i call i get put on hold forever or no one calls me back.  how do i get this off there and what is it?

It's a scam. Do not call the number. There are several ways to recover.
    1. Some of those scam pages can be dismissed very easily. Press the key combination command-W to close the tab or window. A huge box will pop up. Press the return key and both the box and the page will close. If that doesn't happen, continue.
    2. Press and hold command-W. You may hear repeating alert sounds. While holding the keys, click the OK button in the popup. A different popup may appear, which you can cancel out of as usual.
    3. From the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
and uncheck the box marked Enable JavaScript. Leave the preferences dialog open.
Close the malicious window or tab.
Re-enable JavaScript and close the preferences dialog.
    4. If the Preferences menu item is grayed out, quit Safari. Force quit if necessary. Relaunch it by holding down the shift key and clicking its icon in the Dock. None of the windows and tabs will reopen.
After closing the malicious page, from the menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
to get rid of any cookies or other data left by the server. Open your Downloads folder and delete anything you don't recognize.

  • How do you unregister a phone number for iMessage?

My wife decided to change from the iPhone to an Android phone.  Unfortunately, we upgraded her iPhone 3Gs to iOS 5, meaning that all her friends who use iPhones would communicate via iMessage (because Apple defaults to opting you in).  Now that she is using her Android phone, her messages from her iPhone friends are still going to the iPhone.  How do you tell iMessage to deregister her number?
    Thanks!

First of all: Tell her to switch back to iPhone it's SOOO MUCH BETTER ! Anyway, try this:
It should say "Receive at 2 addresses." Click on this, delete any unwanted phone numbers.

iOS: Troubleshooting FaceTime and iMessage activation
    Symptoms
Learn to resolve issues with activating FaceTime and iMessage on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
    Resolution
iPhone automatically registers your phone number for use with FaceTime and iMessage.
To use FaceTime with your Apple ID, navigate to Settings > FaceTime and tap "Use your Apple ID for FaceTime."
To use iMessage with your Apple ID, navigate to Settings > Messages > Receive At and tap "Use your Apple ID for iMessage."
When you enable FaceTime or iMessage with an iPad or iPod touch, you need to enter a valid Apple ID and password. Other users will be able to contact you on FaceTime and iMessage using this email address. If you see "Waiting for Activation", "Activation unsuccessful", or "An error occurred during activation"
These messages occur when your iPhone is trying to activate your phone number with iMessage or FaceTime. To resolve these status messages, follow these steps. After each step, turn FaceTime and iMessage off and on again in Settings > Messages and Settings > FaceTime.
Update to the latest version of iOS.
Make sure that you have a cellular network connection with your cellular provider. You need a cellular network connection to activate iMessage and FaceTime with your iPhone phone number.
Go to www.apple.com in Safari to make sure that you have a data connection. You need a data connection to activate iMessage and FaceTime with your iPhone phone number.
Make sure that you can send and receive SMS. You need a valid SMS messaging plan to activate FaceTime and iMessage.
Make sure that FaceTime hasn't been restricted: tap Settings > General > Restrictions > FaceTime.
Set iPhone to the correct time zone: tap Settings > General > Date & Time.
Note: If Set Automatically is on but the incorrect time zone appears, turn Set Automatically off and choose the correct time zone, date, and time.
Contact your carrier to verify that there are no restrictions, blocks, or filters on text messages. Restrictions, blocks, or filters on text messaging will prevent iMessage and FaceTime registration from completing.
If "Waiting for Activation" still appears after you perform these steps, turn FaceTime and iMessage off and on in Settings > Messages and Settings > FaceTime. You may need to wait up to 24 hours to complete activation. Most attempts will take less than an hour, but some attempts may take up to 24 hours. If your issue isn't resolved after 24 hours, please contact Apple for assistance. If you've recently performed a remote wipe on your iPhone, wait 24 hours from the time you performed the remote wipe, and then turn iMessage off then back on.You can still activate iMessage and FaceTime with your Apple ID when these status messages appear. You can see that you've activated FaceTime and iMessage with your Apple ID by tapping:
Settings > FaceTime > You can be reached by FaceTime at:
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > You can be reached by iMessage at:

  • Can i stop using my phone number for imessage

i want to stop using my phone number with imessage, i cant because it is greyed out and its selected but i want to deselect it but i cant.
when i take my sim out it completely disables imessage

To remove a phone number from an Apple ID, sign out of FaceTime and Messages on your iPhone:
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Settings > FaceTime. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
This should remove your phone number from other devices using the same Apple ID with FaceTime and Messages. If the phone number is still available on other devices after you sign out of FaceTime and iMessage on the iPhone, you may need to sign out of iMessage and FaceTime on all your devices, then sign in to FaceTime and Messages again on devices you want to use.

  • How do I register my iPhone telephone number with iMessage

when i send an iMessager to my fellow iMessage iPhone users, it uses my email address and not my phone number.  So when my friends receive an iMessage from me, my message comes up under my email and not my phone number.
I've went into Settings, then Messages, and on this it states 'Receive At [my email address]'  whereas my freinds setting have both their phone numbers listed and their email address.
Anyone know how to also register my phone number with iMessage?
My number is saved in my apple / iCloud account, byt my Apple ID is my email address?
    Any help is appreciated.
    thanks!!

I totally had the same problem as you two until about 3 minutes ago.
    So what I did was:
    1. Go to Settings > Messages, and turn iMessage to "off"
    2. Switch your phone off and then back on
    3. Switch iMessage back on, at this point my phone started to verify my phone number, and then it appeared along with Caller ID etc.
Hope this solves your problem too.
