What do you mean it tells you to go to settings? That is all that the message says?
Your tag line shows iOS 5.1 - are you running 5.1? That is the latest version. Are you trying to update on the iPad? If you running iOS 5, then you could find the software update in the settings.
Settings>General>Software Update. Go there and see if there is an update that you can do over the air via WiFi.

Can someone please tell me the default Firefox settings for Fonts and sizes (the advanced font settings, too)? I started playing around with mine and now I just want them back to normal, but there's no reset button for fonts, just the zoom features. Help!

Under "Firefox," "Preferences," and then "Fonts and Colors" there is a setting that I would like to know the default for, as well as all of those that you see when you select the "Advanced" button for Fonts.

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1.3. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

You need at least Acrobat 9 to be eligible for upgrades, so it's a moot point. Simply buy a new license of a current version.

They are updated through the Software Update facility, not the Mac App Store.

My iLife apps are all from retail install disks predating Lion/ML; I am running 10.8.4 and as soon as I choose Software Update from the menu, the app store 'Updates" window opens with "checking for updates". I believe that behavior (SU being directed to MAS) was changed with ML?

I have two apple id's because when my ipod crashed I had to reset it completely. I have never had any problems with this before, and it has been a year since I got my second id, which is linked to the ipod. My first id is used for the cloud on the same device. My wife suggested I reset documentson the cloud for the second id, however, when I try to log on the cloud with my current id, it tells me I have to set up the cloud on that device, but it is already done, but with the old id.
confusing I know. I have been on the 'change your password merry-go-round' all day, and I'm getting dizzy! Help!

Make sure you have the Latest version of iTunes on your computer.

I have deayed the latest OS Software update because of this.

There are no specific updates for Lion or Mountain Lion. The Office updates are for all OS's.
Go here: http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads
Then, click on the version of Office that you have. It will list the updates that are available.
Also click on Additional Tools. Download and install the update for Auto Updater.
Note that Microsoft's updates for Office are usually not cumulative, so you must install them all in order.
The Auto Update app will find the ones you need and install them.
From any Office App, go to the Help menu and select "Check for Updates." It will open the AutoUpdater.
The current version is in /Library/Application Support/Microsoft/MAU2.0
