TS1702 The app "Dictionary+" was not installed on the iPhone "iPhone John" because an Unknown error occurred (0xE800002D). I will not download the updates to the laptop to have apps that work stored there. How do I reinstall iOS 5.1.1??
I do not update apps through my laptop I store the apps that actually have been tested and work on the laptop and test updated apps on the iPhone. After updating the iPhone to iOS 6.0.1 iTunes will not install the apps from iTunes on my laptop to my iPhone without updating the apps online. This is not going to happen from my end and I do not like having control of what MY Laptop and MY iPhone can do seperately forced to be as one. That should be an option of choice not a demand of service.
If anyone has an option like how to reinstall iOS 5.1.1 back onto my 3GS I would love to hear it.

The issue, as has already been explained is that the version of iTunes on the computer will not work with iOS6.
iOS updates via Wi-Fi have nothing to do with iTunes on the computer and does not care what version is on the computer. Personally, I find it completely moronic to update via Wi-Fi as there is really no option for backup or a restore from backup if the update fails. To me, it seems like a great way for the user to create issues for themselves that do not need to exist.
As there is no officially supported method to downgrade the iOS, the only option left if syncing is desired is to upgrade iTunes on the computer.
I really do not understand why you seem so defensive about updating iTunes. Update iTunes on the computer, then sync the device, if that's what you want.
If that's not what you want, other options include updating apps directly on the device via Wi-Fi or 3G or living with it as is.

If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop

Title says it all. If I try to "open" an attachment, the download dialogue comes up and the progress bar begins to fill, then when it should be complete I get the message:
"The download cannot be saved because an unknown error occurred
Please Try Again."
I can still save the files, but then I have to delete them (and that's just a hassle). Any help would be appreciated!Tools, Options, Attachments, Incoming. Then set to your prefered PDF reader.
An update has reset this to the internal PDF viewer rather than sticking with the one you had before. This reader does not work on my machine. -

I have been trying to view my recent purchases for a month now and I'm finally frustrated. I can download, upload everything fine but I'm always getting the E-mails that I have paid Itunes 2.99 or .99 cents which is fine since three people in my family are using the account but I really want to be able to see my purchase history in the Itunes store. I recently bought a used iPod Classic (my previous one was stolen). I still had my iTunes library on my computer so I was just going to hook it up and sync my library over, replacing what was on there from the previous user. When I first hooked it up to my computer (Windows 7 64-bit) there was a message saying the drivers were not installed properly. I un-plugged it, and plugged it back in to the same result. I tried 1 more time and didn't get the error message. I then opened iTunes and clicked on the iPod. I checked for updates, then clicked "Restore this iPod". Next, I set it up to sync music, and the sync began. It seemed to work for a while, the "Syncing iPod" message was displayed at the top, and it said it was copying songs over. It did this for about 10 minutes before I finally got the following message:
"Itunes could not copy (name of song) to the ipod (name of ipod) Because an unknown error occurred (-53)"
After that happens, everything seems to freeze up. iTunes says it's still syncing, but nothing ever seems to happen. If I click the eject button, nothing happens either. I eventually have to just disconnect the iPod. The iPod seems frozen for a while, then it seems to reboot itself (the gray apple window displays), then the interface displays and I can get to the songs on there. But, only a very small portion of my library makes it to the iPod. I've tried several times now and it always seems to be the same songs that DO make it onto the iPod. However, it's a different song listed in the error message each time, so it doesn't seem to be just 1 song causing the problem. Also, once I hook the iPod back to the computer, Windows displays a message prompting me to scan the drive and fix errors. I did it once and it said it found some errors and fixed them.

and some people were suggesting removing everything from your library then re-adding it, in case the paths were messed up. I tried that and still got the same results. I also updated iTunes to the latest version, and I've tried different USB ports and 2 different USB cables.

So if you don't have any solution do not post! I'm not being rude, I'd just keep this discussion as accessible for other readers as possible. Besides, shouting "me too" doesn't really help anyone. Here's my problem, I sync my iPhone via iTunes 10.5.2, which works fine but after a while it prompts with an error message "iTunes could not connect to the iPhone because an unknown error occurred (OxE8000001)". This error message will not disappear and I have to force shut-down iTunes. It works OK for a while after re-start but the error comes back after a while. It is a very annoying little problem because I was waiting for WIFI syncing for so long and now it doesn't work properly

I have an iphone 4s and I have been trying for months to update my phone from iOS 6.1.3 to the new one.
I recently got a new computer (my old harddrive crashed and will not work at all) and I just now copied all my music and photos to the computer.
Now I have been trying to update to the iOS 7.1 both on iTunes and on the iPhone but neither one work. I keeps saying "unknown error" .
I am wondering if I restore it to factory settings and then update it will the install work?
also since i have backed up to the iCloud and my computer..will i be able to recover my music, contacts, notes and photos???

Recently when I tried syching one of my playlists into my iPhone 4 (Running on 5.1) using iTunes 11.2.0.26 for Windows (Windows XP SP3), I have been having a problem with some songs I acquired recently. It will sync all the other songs, but when it reaches the song in question, the following error message pops up:
"iTunes could not copy "Name of Song" to the iPhone because an unknown error occurred (-50)"
After which, it stops synching songs altogether.
I tried TWO different USB connectors (BOTH from Apple), and the error still occurs. When I remove the song in question, ALL songs sync normally.
I used the 'Get Info' option to see if there was something in the way the song was coded. This info is from one of the songs that gets synched normally:
