TS3212 User Account control is asking me " Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer? then it asks me to type an administrator password - ?
What Username and password is the User Account Control program asking for to complete the 10.7 download on my PC? It asks do you want to allow he following program to make changes to your computer.
The updated version of iTunes is a change to your computer, and the computer is trying to protect itself against unauthorised changes that could damage it (in other words, hacking, trojans, viruses etc.).
On your computer, you are using a User Account; imagine that it's your part of the computer. Each user on the computer is either an administrator (who can make changes) or a non-adminstrator (who cannot make changes) to the computer itself.
Do other people use the computer as well, such as your parents, who may have restricted your ability to change programmes on the computer?
Or is the computer at, and owned by, your school, or in an office? If so, their computer department has created an account on the computer for you to use, but not change.
In either of the above scenarios, your account will be a non-administrator account. If it's your parents' machine, perhaps they have an administrator's account.
If you are the only user of the computer, or there is only the one account on it, then presumably, the administrator password is one that you have set up.

Every time I open the browser, a pop-up window asks "Do you want the following program to make changes to this computer?"
It is unnecessary and annoying to have to click "yes" each time.
How can I get this pop-up window to stop? Thanks for the help I'll keep the info just in case - but I got so frustrated that I just deleted the program and then re downloaded the current version now everything works fine.

I keep getting an annoying pop up the says "User Account Control" "Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to your computer"
== This happened ==
Every time Firefox opened
== Two days after I downloaded Firefox and set as my default browser.Check that you do not run Firefox as Administrator.
Right-click the Firefox desktop shortcut and choose "Properties".
In the Compatibility tab, make sure that Privilege Level: "Run this program as Administrator" is not selected.
You also need to check the Properties of the firefox.exe program in the Firefox program directory.
If you can't make the changes then you need to start Windows Explorer as Administrator. -
I have two computers with windows 7 Home Premium. Whenever I launch Firefox on one, it launches just fine. On the other, I always gets this message: "Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to your computer"? " How can I fix this ?? Thanks......
phrankNone of that worked for me. And I don't think disabling UAC is a good idea at least if it's a work computer rather than my own.

The following pop-up is displayed after every log-in, even after it is clicked yes after previous log-ins. Several students log-in the computers daily. How do I rid THIS?:
User Account Control
"Do you want the following program to make changes to this computer?
Program Name: FireFox Helper
Verified Publisher: Mozilla Corporation
File Origin: Hard Drive on this ComputerIn Windows 7, Microsoft updated UAC in several ways. By default, UAC does not prompt when certain programs included with Windows make changes requiring elevated permissions. Other programs still trigger a UAC prompt. The strictness of UAC can be changed to either always prompt, or to never do so.

Neither my shortcuts nor my firefox.exe have Run As Administrator checked. And yet I get this prompt every time I start Firefox on my new laptop with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.
unchecking "Run this program as an administrator" under the Compatibility tab in the properties of the program was my first guess....darn.
Ok I understand that this is only happening in Firefox. If you start it in safe mode does this still happen? This will tell you if its an add on or a changed configuration:[[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]] -

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode (Never remember history).
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
*Deselect: [ ] "Always use Private Browsing mode" -
Question is asked by "user account control"
Even if you are logged on with an Administrator account then you should still not run Firefox with Administrator permissions.
I would assume that is already installed, but if this is happening when you try to install Firefox then you need to right-click the Firefox installer and choose Run as Administrator to make sure to get the proper permissions to install the Firefox program and create the required registry keys.
Then you need to confirm that you want to install the program.
If Windows blocks the file because it is downloaded from internet then open the Properties via the right-click context menu and check the Security tab. -

I could previously open my itunes program on my computer and sync with ipad, ipod and iphone but no longer. When I select itunes a dialogue box opens with question - "Do you want to allow this program to make changes to your computer" When I select YES, it just shuts down. I have removed and reinstalled itunes. have checked firewall and spent hours trying to fix. Please help.
A possible cause of this error is that Firefox is set to run as Administrator.
Check that Firefox isn't set to run as Administrator.
Right-click the Firefox desktop shortcut and choose "Properties".
Make sure that all items are deselected in the "Compatibility" tab of the Properties window.
* Privilege Level: "Run this program as Administrator" should not be selected
* "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" should not be selected
Also check the Properties of the firefox.exe program in the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\). -
