Is there a way to sync POP subfolders and download them for backup in Mail on my MBP? I tried syncing the account with Mail and only the Inbox downloads onto my computer. I have Googled enough to find out that the answer is no, but no official answer or recent answer and I am hopeful that there has been a change.

Sure-glad to help you. You will not lose any data by changing synching to MacBook Pro from imac. You have set up Time Machine, right? that's how you'd do your backup, so I was told, and how I do my backup on my mac.  You should be able to set a password for it. Save it.  Your stuff should be saved there. So if you want to make your MacBook Pro your primary computer,  I suppose,  back up your stuff with Time machine, turn off Time machine on the iMac, turn it on on the new MacBook Pro, select the hard drive in your Time Capsule, enter your password, and do a backup from there. It might work, and it might take a while, but it should go. As for clogging the hard drive, I can't say. Depends how much stuff you have, and the hard drive's capacity.  As for moving syncing from your iMac to your macbook pro, should be the same. Your phone uses iTunes to sync and so that data should be in the cloud. You can move your iTunes Library to your new Macbook pro
you should be able to sync your phone on your new MacBook Pro. Don't know if you can move the older backups yet-maybe try someone else, anyways,
This handy article from Apple explains how

don't forget to de-authorize your iMac if you don't want to play purchased stuff there
and re-authorize your new macBook Pro
time machine is an application, and should be found in the Applications folder. it is built in to OS X, so there is nothing else to buy. double click on it, get it going, choose the Hard drive in your Time capsule/Airport as your backup Time Machine  and go for it.  You should see a circle with an arrow on the top right hand of your screen (the Desktop), next to the bluetooth icon, and just after the wifi and eject key (looks sorta like a clock face). This will do automatic backups  of your stuff.

  • I'm going to be using a borrowed computer, so don't want to make permanent changes to that FF. Is there a way to sync the FF settings and keep them on a thumb drive for temporary use?

Is there a way to sync the FF settings and keep them on a thumb drive for temporary use? I know you can try to copy the "default" folder in .mozilla, but that usually ends up a mess. The home computer runs on Linux, don't know what the borrowed one will be.

There's Portable Firefox for Windows - http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable - and another for Macs - http://www.freesmug.org/portableapps/firefox/ - not for Linux, AFAIK.
Firefox Sync works thru a server, either Mozilla's sync server or a local sync server the user has running on their own LAN. There's no way to sync the data to a thumb drive unless it has a version of Firefox on that thumb drive.
You didn't mention which "settings" are involved, but you can export your Firefox bookmarks in HTML format to a thumb drive, and view that bookmarks.html file on any web browser on just about any operating system.
Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks ''(or Organize Bookmarks for 3.6 and earlier versions)''-> Import & Backup - Export HTML...
For your other personal data in Firefox, there is no real solution outside of using Firefox.

My Laptop was stolen. On the Itunes, I had many songs saved from other sources, that are currently on my Itouch. Itunes wants me to Erase to sync, and I dont want to erase. I have no access to those songs anymore. Is there a way to sync my Touch with my New laptop withoit erasing my I touch?

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your iPod. Only if you back up your iPod manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
    Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your iPod to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your ipod without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your device for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the iPod for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.

Copy everything from your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.
    Then sync.

  • Is there a way to sync the Notes app on my iPod Touch with the Notes on my desktop without using iCloud

I've been reading some of the other threads about this issue, but most, if not all, suggest using iCloud. I'm wary of setting up an iCloud account because I've heard that "once your information is 'in the cloud' it can't be deleted", and I just don't know how true that is.
Is there a way to sync the two apps by some other means that bypasses "the cloud"?

I think that cloud privacy concerns are overdone - especially with Apple who don't have a vested interest in snooping through your data like Google does!
Do you use email?  It's stored in the cloud on the providers servers - no matter who the provider is.
Do you use SMS on a phone?  They're stored on a server somewhere!
Do you use the internet?  The logs are stored at your ISP for some period of time - tracking everywhere you've been.
Thats why I am comfortable to use iCloud for most of my documents.  If I want to transfer files very securely, I put them in an encrypted disk image on Dropbox.
    Cheers,
    Rodney

  • Is there a way to sync outlook calendars with Imac, Ipad, Iphone calendars.  I am not running exchange server.

Is there a way to sync outlook calendars with Imac, Ipad, Iphone calendars?  I am not running exchange server.

    hello,
BlackBerry devices do not support ActiveSync.
you have several ways, from best to less good :
    1)
if your company has set up Outlook Web Access, you can use the BIS connection of your device to connect to the Exchange server (email + Address book) through the url of the Outlook Web Access. The OWA needs to be accessible from outside the company.
    2)
if your company has setup an external link to the exchange server (can be accessible from outside the company), you can configure your BIS directly to the Exchange server (email only if I recall correctly)
    3)
if your company allows it, on your PC you can setup your email account to automatically forward all incoming emails to a third party email (like GMail or Hotmail), and then configure BIS to connect to that email provider. You will get push email. You can then setup a reply-to: field.
    4)
use a Windows Mobile phone that has the ActiveSync feature.

  • Is there a way to sync contacts iPhone with my macbook pro

Is there a way to sync contacts iPhone with my macbook pro

    Yes.
    1) With iTunes and an USB cable.
    2) Using MobileMe over the air. (I think it's replaced by iCloud soon [5th Oct.])
I would just wait and create an iCloud account when it's released.

  • Is there a way to sync the catalogues on both LR5 and LR6?

I have installed the desktop version of LR6. Now I have both LR6 and LR5 working. I could uninstall it... but in fact it would be great to be able to work on both, so is there a way to sync the catalogues on both?

    Hi,
I already bought it, I was just thinking that since it synchronized my catalogue when I installed it, it might be possible to do it manually again. The idea being that if I'm inporting or exporting something tht takes a long time in LR6, I could carry on working on LR5 if the two were working together. Just a thought, sometimes I reall would like to work on more than one window at a time.... but it would probably mess things up, right?  The alternative is just to uninstall LR5 once everything is working well?

  • Is there a way to sync IOS 7 with Itunes 10.7?

i made a mistake of upgrading IOS 7 on my ipod and now it won't sync with my Itunes 10.7..  There's no way I will ever upgrade to POS Itunes 11.  Does anyone know a way to sync IOS 7 with Itunes 10.7 ??
    <Re-Titled By Host>

No. Once your devices are running iOS 7 you need iTunes 11.1 or later...
The main differences between iTunes 11 and earlier versions are the loss of coverflow and ability to have multiple windows open.
In Windows, you can restore much of the look & feel of iTunes 10.7 with these shortcuts:
ALT to temporarily display the menu bar
CTRL+B to show or hide the menu bar
CTRL+S to show or hide the sidebar
CTRL+/ to show or hide the status bar (won't hide for me on Win XP)
Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the old search behaviour
Use View > Hide <Media Kind> in the cloud or Edit > Preferences > Store and untick Show iTunes in the cloud purchases to hide the cloud items. The second method eliminates the cloud status column (and may let iTunes start up more quickly)
If you don't like having different coloured background & text in the Album (Grid) view use Edit > Preferences > General and untick Use custom colours for open albums, movies, etc.
With iTunes 11.0.3 and later you can enable artwork in the Songs view from View > Show View Options (CTRL+J) making it more like the old Album List view
View > Show View Options (CTRL+J) also contains options to change the sorting of grid based views

  • Is there a way to sync my ical with another person's ical?

My husband and I both have icloud and we both have macs with ical on them.
Is there way to sync our calendars -- essentially to take all the info i have on mine and get it to his computer and phone, etc?

Correction to my previous note: [what i learned after trying it myself]
In order to save the Lion OS onto an additional computer in your home... you don't sign in to iTunes on their computer -- you sign into the App Store (under the apple in the upper left corner) on their computer.
Once you're in the App Store: Click on "Featured" on the top. Then, Click on "Account" (in the column to the right). Log in using the user id and password of the person/computer who purchased it.
(You can purchase one OS for the home and use it on multiple computers -- per the genius/tech guy at the apple store.)
Then, click on "Purchased" from the top row again (up there with "Featured") and you should see the Lion OS if you purchased it on your own computer. Click on "Install" and you're good to go!
    Follow prompts to complete installation.
(Note: It may take a couple hrs -- and it makes a few things work and look differently, fyi.)
Once you've got both computers working in the Lion OS, you can complete your iCloud registration.
Now, after having install them, your computer should be syncing properly with your iPhone, etc.
To share your calendar, open iCal, Click on "Calendar" at the top and scroll down to "Share Calendar" -- You'll need to share each "Calendar" or 'category of calendar' individually with the person/people you want to share that particular heading/category of your calendar with... You do so by chosing who you want to share with and typing in their email. They'll get a notice on their iCal in a little box at the top (and a number in a red circle will show above the iCal icon as well). They'll also receive an email asking them if they want to accept or decline sharing a particular calendar with you (or 'so & so'.)
Either way -- once they accept it, all the stuff you've got saved in that particular category of your calendar will now show up on their calendar.
My husband and I are finally on the same page!! He can see all our plans on his calendar on his iPhone!! Also -- when sharing, you can select to have others be able to 'read only' what you're syncing -- OR -- you can allow them to "read and write." in other words, they will have access to the calendars you're sharing and they can make edits to them if you allow them to "read and write."
We are very pleased you can do this. I thought it was only possible to share calendars/have a mutual calendar with google calendar... Very happy you can share calendar info with others!! Woo hooo!!
