TS3276 Manually send mail

Hi,
Can someone please assist me in how to turn off autosend in Mail.
I have gone to Preferences, and under the Genral tab I can see where it says Check for new massages, and I have selected manually.  This is great for incoming mail, but I want to be able to do the same when sending it out.  I want it to sit in the outbox, and wait till I am ready to send it out, but at this stage, it is sending it as soon as I finish spell check, in some cases it is not even waiting for that, it just sends automatically.
Thanks in advance,
Rob

Mail is sent when you hit th is icon in the window:
You cannot schedule outgoing mail; however, if you don't want to send it immediately, you can simply hit the little red button and you'll get this dialog:
You can save it as a draft, open it again later, and then send it.

  • TS3276 Cannot send mail from my iPad...."user name and or password is incorrect"......mail can be sent from my iPhone

Why do I get the message   "Cannot send mail, the user name and or password for my email outgoing server is incorrect"?  I use the same account, etc. on my iPhone and haven't any trouble sending mail.

If your email requires a password for the SMTP server you can set it up in the settings in the General mail setup. Some i.e Gmail require a password for SMTP.
Otherwise you will probably get better answers in the iPad forum.

  • TS3276 Cannot send mail

    Hi,
I have upgraded to Mountain Lion OS and MAIL version 6.I cannot send email, I can recieve them OK.  I have reentered the accound details several times to no result.  When I use the"Doctor" to check connections, they are all green lighted.
My ISP says it is the  Mail Management that is causing the problem.
    What can I do?

For starters, post in the "10.8 Mountain Lion area".  This is the 10.7 area.
Mind you, the problem is not likely related to the version of Mail your using.
Does you ISP not have a web page that explains what mail settings to use?
What your describing sounds like you need a password to send mail, or a different "port", or SSL, or any number of other options for sending mail.
Reading mail is a lot easier.

  • TS3276 When sending, Mail always ask for my password....why?

Mail asks for my password when I send an e-mail. Sometimes it take a few minutes before asking. How do I resolve this issue?

Does the same occur when setting Mail to check for new mail every 5 or 15 minutes?
If there are a number of messages to download and/or a message or messages contain attachments and the download process is not completed and the communication with the server closed before the next automatic check for new mail, the prompt to manually enter the account's password will be provided instead of an error message indicating there was a problem communicating with the server or the account will be taken offline.
The same can occur if there is heavy network traffic at the incoming mail server for the account when the Mail.app checks for new mail.
I have the Mail.app set to check for new mail every 15 minutes and if I am prompted to manually enter an account's password, this indicates there is a temporary problem at the incoming mail server for the account.
I have provided feedback to Apple requesting the Mail.app provide a communication with the server error message instead of a request to manually enter the account's password.
Try changing it to every 5 minutes as a test.

  • TS3276 cannot receive or send mail, server off line "ssl off" how do I turn ssl on?

Cannot receive or send mail.  Server off line  "ssl off " . how do I turn on ssl?

    Hello there, gillaf.
To turn adjust your SSL settings the following Knowledge Base article will be of assistance:
Mac OS X Mail: About Secure Email Communications (SSL)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TA25586
    Setting up Mail for SSL
Important: These steps require Mac OS X 10.1.3 or later.
    1. Open the Mail application.
    2. Choose Preferences from the Mail application menu.
    3. Click Accounts.
    4. Select an account name, and click Edit.
    5. Click the Account Options tab.
    6. Click the Use SSL checkbox to enable this option.
Selecting the checkbox will auto-populate the default port numbers. If there is a non-default port number already present, it will not change. You can manually enter a number if your ISP gave you a different port number. Be sure you enter the correct port for your mail server here when selecting SSL, even if it auto-populates a default number.
Note: If SSL is accidentally set up when it should not be, or is configured using the incorrect port for your mail server, an alert box with a message similar to this may appear:
"Fetch Error: Couldn't connect to a POP host name mail.apple.com."
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • TS3276 Well it happened again. Why does my apple me account stop sending mail for no apparent reason. One minute it is working find and 10 seconds latter you get error messages that it does not recognize your password. I am really fed up with the mail sof

Things were going well. Mail was working fine and then the following error message appears out of nowhere. I had not changed any settings. From that point on all efforts to send mail failed, and the error message appeared even thought I used the password to log back in after I quit. Now, an hour after the problem started it takes my password (on the second try after the error message appears) once and sends a test message. Then, one minute later it gives the error message again and refuses to send anything. Why is mail so inconsistent? What can I do in the future to address the problem?
Error message reads "The SMTP server "xxxxx" rejected the password for user "xxx" Please re-enter your password or cancel.
When mail does work again. Should I click the remember this password in keychain or am I just asking for more trouble?
I'm writing this using my IMac computer in a different room. The error also occurs on my powerbook running my new MacBook Pro 12 inch.
    Fed up Mac user.

I"m no expert but this used to happen to me all the time (stop downloading, asking for my password, nothing downloading, walking away- 24 hours or more later, all is fine, only to later start all over again)
Well, i gave up for a long time and stopped using that account with mac mail and only accessed it online..recently went and changed the pop3 to only pop and now it works beautifully and seamlessly. Don't ask me why or how, but it does so thought I'd share.

Superb advice R&W!  My email sending block using TalkTalk started 2 months ago using Snow Leopard, continued when I upgraded to 10.8.2, and has been persistent on my wife's new iPad (IOS 6.1).  Implementing your wise words has fixed all that, and now enables me to call her on FaceTime — previously only she could call me.  Thank you so much; this will save hours of further fruitless searching and phoning.
Please remember that your email is now insecure, if you wish to have a secure connection SSL must be on and port 25 should be avoided.

  • TS3276 I cannot send mail but i do receive it

I cannot send mail but do recieve it, what do I write in Imap path prefix?

Oh, its not as "strange" as you might think.
The problem is SPAM.  Internet Service Provider (ISPs) are struggling to prevent outsiders - or their own customers - from sending huge amounts of SPAM.
To do this, they have to make regular changes to how e-mail is handled.  My guess, based on what you have told me so far, is that your ISP has made a change to how e-mails are sent.
This means you have to find out what that change was and adjust your Mail account settings.  Hopefully your ISP has a "Support" web page where there is a step-by-step How To document that will lead you through this.

  • TS3276 can receive mail, can not send, set up smtp(offline)?

I feel like a jerk, I know it is probably a simple change of wording in advanced setting or something I'm not doing correctly but I can not send mail using aol server. I use Safari only and have 2 accounts plus icloud, I have my Macbook Pro about 10 months and have had several mail issues but I worked them out.

    Hello:
I use AOL's mail as well.
Open mail.  Go to preferences and highlight your account in the sidebar.  Click on accounts>account information.  The out going mail server should show smtp.aol.com:your account name.  If that shows "offline," click on the drop down menu  "edit smtp server list."  The server name should be smtp.aol.com in use by your account.  Click on advanced.  You should use the default ports (25,465,587).  I authenticate using a password and my password is prefilled.  On rare occasions I have had a "gremlin" erase the password in that password box.  I have no clue how that happened, but the AOL server would not handle outgoing mail - showed offline.  Sometimes it took me quite awhile (restarts, etc) to get things going again.
