You are on Windows 2000, you do not have a "Firefox" button, and should consider yourself to be fortunate in that you still have menus and don't have to do anything to get the menus back instead of the "Firefox" button. (The same applies to Windows XP users).
Use the "File" menu to get to Import. You are not on Windows 7 or Vista, and don't have to put up with the nonsense added for Aero.
If you want the "Firefox" button you can get it with View -> toolbars -> (uncheck) Menu Bar. The menu bar and the "Firefox" button were supposed to be mutually exclusive (which is impossible in some cases without being incompatible).
Once you are using the "Firefox" button ...
Use the "Alt" key to view the menu bar (temporarily) containing File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, and Help. On Windows 7 and Vista, the menu bar was hidden by default in Firefox 4 and above. These menu items are more or less available under the "Firefox" button which has the most used of the built-in Firefox menu items available in a different format.
To get back to having menus again. "Firefox" button -> Options (second column) -> (check) Menu Bar
You can make '''Firefox 7.0.1''' look like Firefox 3.6.*, see numbered '''items 1-10''' in the following topic [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4interface Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 4.0 thru 8.0, look like 3.6)]. ''Whether or not you make changes, you should be aware of what has changed and what you have to do to use changed or missing features.''

Do I need to reinstall MS Office 2011 after upgrading to Mavericks ?
Hello,
I have mid 2011 Mac Air. Do I need to reinstall MS Office 2011 after upgrading to Mavericks ?
Curious to know before upgrading. You will at least need to apply the update. I believe that can be done before upgrading to Mavericks. If you have trouble, then as Tony T1 says, uninstall fully then reinstall, but I have had no issues o any of my Macs. Update applied to all.

When I upgrade to Lion, will I need to upgrade all my Applications too?
I'm assuming iLife and iWork and other Apple applications will work. But what about stuff like Adobe Master Suite CS5 or any games/apps I've got out of the App store? Will they provide an update to make them work on Lion or will I have to re-purchase all my software?
This is my first time upgrading my Mac OS, thanks!Lion upgrade questions and answers: Apple Support Communities

Upgraded my Imac to Mt. Lion and now the Microsoft Office icons will not open WORD, EXCEL, POWERPOINT, or ENTOURAGE. I just pruchased on Ebay
OFFICE 2011 since my old version was 2004. DO I REMOVE THE OLD ICONS BEFORE LOADING OFFICE 2011 RO AFTER I LOAD IT???
THANKS, DR PEPPERMINTOffice 2011 will install in a separate folder. But do not install Office 2011 until you remove Office 2004. It comes with its own uninstalled located in the MS Office folder. Only use the uninstaller to get rid of it. Then install Office 2011.
Office 2004 and Other Applications Don't Work in Lion/Mountain Lion
If you have Office 2004 which is a PPC-only suite, it will not work in Lion/Mountain Lion. You need to upgrade to Office 2011 - Mactopia - or you can try the freeware suite, Libre Office, that is functionally similar to Office 2007 for Windows except it works on Lion/Mountain Lion.
You may want to consider as well:
These two suites are similar to Libre Office but not as current or as well-supported:
NeoOffice
Open Office
And, then there is Apple's iWork suite:
Pages - word processing and layout
Keynote - presentation
Numbers - spreadsheet
Each can open and save Office compatible files. They may be purchased separately via the Mac App Store for $19.99 each.
As for other software, any PPC-based software will not run in Lion or Mountain Lion because Rosetta is no longer part of OS X. You will need to upgrade to Intel versions of the software.
(Access to the Mac App Store requires Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or higher and an Apple ID.) -
Hello guys!
I am facing a big problem. I need to upgrade from OS X 10.5 to Lion BUT I need to upgrade to Snow Leopard first. They have stoped shipping to Greece and I am not able to find it anywhere (even Amazon does not ship this product here!!!) What I am supposed to do? Please help me.Clone backup your hard drive at least twice*:
http://www.macmaps.com/backup.html
Erase and install Lion from the USB Flash Drive version that's available on the online store.
Use the Migration Assistant to import the data, if you are certain everything is compatible with Lion. Read this user tip to determine if it might be incompatible:
https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2465
If you have any PowerPC (Rosetta) Applications, you may have to manually import the data from the backup:
https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2295
And then find the applications that are equivalent to them that are Lion compatible. -
Microsoft AutoUpdate keeps reporting the need to upgrade
I am on Office 2011 v14.4.3 (OS10.9.3), and Microsoft AutoUpdate keeps reporting I should upgrade to 14.4.3. Is there somewhere an invisible file to remove? Or how do I fix this?
I posted this on the MS forum without result. Now hoping somebody here has an idea.If the Auto-Update process is failing another approach would be to manually download the (same) update and run it manually. For 14.4.3 go to
Download Now!
You could also try running it from a different clean/empty admin account. If all this still fails then I would agree that removing the entire Office2011 and reinstalling would be best. At least you will not need to run each individual update, just the latest.
Sadly there is no official Office2011 uninstaller. Some people have written scripts to do this.

Upgrade to Snow Leopard before or after install new Office 2011 for Business?
I'm about to upgrade from Leopard to snow leopard. I also am going to upgrade to Microsoft Office 2011 for Business and then download the Tiger OS.
Should I install Office 2011 first (currently use 2004 Office) BEFORE I install Snow Leopard, or after? As long as you have the 10.6 DVD, you are all set. It probably contains 10.6.3, and you will then have to use Software Update to get to 10.6.8. You can do that with Word updated or not.
Upgrading to 10.7 will add a Lion Recovery partition to your Hard drive. When you are ready to do that, you may want to run Disk Utility Verify first.
All these cats make my head spin, so I just use the numbers.
If you are concerned about losing something, shouldn't you have a backup? Add word to your backup and don't worry about losing anything. -
Microsoft Office 2011 won't work with Mountain Lion update
I have an early 2011 version Macbook Pro. Until yesterday I have been running Lion, I updated to Mountain Lion last night and now my Microsoft Office 2011 won't work. Does anyone know how to fix this?
When I try to open any MS Office program or file I get an error message that reads "Microsoft Office cannot open because of a problem. Check with the developer to make sure Microsoft (Outlook, Word etc.) works with this version of OS X you may need to reinstall the application..." the problem is I bought this Mac used and I don't have the disc to reinstall the application. I've gone to the MS Office 2011 Mac website and downloaded a service pack and an update (the only two things available to me) but that still doesn't help. Where would I find the update you are describing?

Macbook from 2007 - Need to update but can't. Help!?
I was recently given a Macbook from 2007. When I try to open Itunes it says that I reguire a newer version of quicktime and to follow certain links. When I do this I come to an Apple Support page that tells me that this page cannot be found.
I am quite confused as I have tryed to download the newer versions of software for my mac but it never completely finishes downloading.
If anyone has any idea of how to help, that would be greatly appreciated.Once you are at 10.6.8 Lion is still available from Apple. You will have to call Apple Customer Care 1-800-692-7753 or 1-800-676-2775. to purchase it. Then within 3 days you will get an email with a code which you can use to download Lion from the App Store. Or go to http://store.apple.com/us/product/D6106Z/A/os-x-lion and purchase it there. The price is $19.99.
Lion will require at least 2gb of RAM but really needs 4gb to run smoothly.
As for third party programs see this list for compatibility with 10.7 http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
Also Lion doesn't run any Power PC programs. To see if you have any Power PC programs go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up select Applications under Software. Then look under Kind to see if any of your applications are listed as Power PC. Universal and Intel will run under Lion.
Before Mac switched to Intel processors in 2006 they used Power PC processors from 1994 to 2005. Power PC 601 through 604, G3, G4 and G5. Applications written for the Power PC processors need the application called Rosetta to run on Intel processors. This was part of the Operating System in 10.4 and 10.5 but was an optional install in 10.6. With 10.7 Lion Apple dropped all support for Power PC applications.
You can put two 2gb RAM sticks in your model 2,1 but it can only use 3,3gb. This is a hardware limitation and cannot be changed.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3_GB_barrier
http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook_pro/faq/macbook-pro-core-2-duo-3-g b-memory-limitation-details.html
OWC tests have found that there is a slight speed increase with having two 2gb sticks in rather than one 1gb and one 2gb. Your model is in the gray lines at the bottom of the graph. http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/Memory_Benchmark/Apple_MacBook/ -
I need to run Microsoft Office 2010 and can't figure out what I need to do...
Im taking a office applications class and we're required to use Microsoft Office 2010. I have Windows for mac 2011 on my computer but that's not good enough. Can someone tell me what I need to do to get Office 2010 running on my iMac desktop. I'm really not very computer savvy when it comes to this stuff...
To run Microsoft Office 2010 on your iMac you will need to install Windows. You can do this one of two ways.
Use BootCamp (free program on your iMac) to make a windows partition and then install Microsoft Windows (XP, Vista, or 7) then you will need to restart your computer with the windows partition then you will need to install Microsoft Office.
You can buy Parallels Desktop 7 ($79.95) or VMware Fusion 4 (49.95) these programs make what is called a virtual machine on your iMac it's like any other program, but is is designed to run Windows and other OS along side of your Mac OS no need to restart your iMac, the main advantage. Once you install Windows then you can install Microsoft Office 2010.
Note: Both of these methods will require a full version of Microsoft Windows. -
After upgrading to Lion, I went to open Mail and received the message that it needed to upgrade my Mail database - this may take a few minutes. The bar shows it is about 1/5 along and has been there for over 10 hours.
I tried quitting and starting again but it just jumps back to the same spot.It is quite large, but I have tried two of the fixes suggested and things now seem to be moving along.
(I was unable to seach properly before which is why I posted the question - it was a bit of a panic)
