My pavilion dv4-1070 got stuck on a blank screen and numlock and caps lock LED are blinking... it happens when i update the BIOS.. please help... thanks

    Hello,
I see that you're having an issue with the notebook giving you a black screen. I also noticed you said only the NumLock and Caps lock is blinking.
Now, the BIOS update could have because this but we won't know until you let me know how many times the LED blinks.
Here is a chart which will tell us what's causing the issue.
Please let me know the outcome.

  • E 72 crash and stuck on white blank screen

i just saved mms settings and rebooted my E 72 and then it would not start. it gets stuck on a white blank screen. what to do?

Try doing the following as well:
1.. *#7780# - Restore factory settings - resets all the settings to the default ( you will not lose any data)
     - Make sure you back up your data first as you will lose all of it when you perform. The default code for ALL operations listed here is 12345.
2.*#7370# - Reformat your phone. ALL data may be lost. still it is a good idea to always do a back up of your stuff.
This you perform as a last resort. Nothing else is working. If the phone is not showing any activity, proceed with hard formatting , turn off your phone, hold the following buttons while pressing the power button. (the default code is 12345)
    3. hard reset - hold the following buttons * (star key), 3 (number button) and talk/green key. turn on the phone and do not release those buttons until you see the Nokia boot up screen. once you feel the phone power up you can let go off the power button while still holding all three buttons.
If these codes are not working the only thing for you to do is contact your Nokia Care Center/Service for assistance.

  • Please help! Blackberry Torch 8610 stuck in white blank screen!

    sorry for my bad english..
    i'm indonesian ^^
before this problem happends, about 3 days ago i've got an error message saying built in media got an error so must repair it or wipe it.. i tried to repair it, but it keeps saying built in media repair failed. so i wipe it..
but, a couple of seconds after i click wipe built in media, my blackberry reboots by itself..
after it finished rebooting, my blackberry tells me built in media got an error again.
and i tried to wipe it again but my blackberry still rebooting it self again.
this happends  4 times in a row.
and then, when the fourth reboot finished, i tried to wipe it again..
and yes, the blackberry still rebooting itself again.
but, this time, my blackberry didn't finish rebooting, the loading bar stuck in 3/4 of the bar.
its stuck like that for 3 half days.
i tried to fix it with app updater, but its still stuck in 3/4 of the bar.
so today i tried to fix it with JL_cmder
i tried to restore it to factory default.. but it keeps failed connecting to the device..
the third time i tried, it got a white blank screen when reaching the 3/4 loading bar..
    please help..
i would really appreciate your help.

Download BBSAK onto your computer. Connect your phone to the computer and close out BlackBerry Desktop Software as soon as it opens. Then start BBSAK and do the wipe from there. You should get a screen saying there is no OS. At this point you should be able to install the OS either from BBSAK or from the BlackBerry Desktop Software. Try it and report back.

  • App Stuck at "Preparing" blank screen.

    HI all --
So my app is all completed and I downloaded the .IPA to do some tests. Everything seems to work fine, all the pages and interactivty are there. I tried a quick name change update and pushed that update, no problem. However, I closed and opened the app again and now the folio is stuck on the first screen, white background with the word "preparing" in blue at the top and the pages that follow say "waiting".
Just want to make sure this isn't some bug I need to fix -- I am going to go ahead and delete the app and reinstall the .IPA which would fix it, but just wanted to see if this is something that has happened to anyone before?

It has happened to me twice in two days. I ended up deleting the folio and recreating it. Worked fine until the next morning when I encountered the same issue with the new folio. I have not been able to resolve this yet. Unfortunately, creating a new folio every morning is not cost-effective (not to mention, it's extremely frustrating).

  • My ipod was opening an app, and stuck - now have blank screen, i cannot even turn the ipod off - it is not responding?! now what???

I was opening up an app, and the ipod changed to a black screen, with a line of white on the bottom. It is backlit. It is also 'stuck' like this. It will not respond to pressing any buttons - it won't even turn off!!! What really *****, is that it's only 2mths old!! (8GB touch)
    HHEEELLLPPPP!!!!!!!!!

Thankyou ckuan - but the laptop that this particular iPod is attached to - is currently in the fix it shop after being stood on!!
After much frustration, the battery finally died - I left it to recharge for 20hrs, and it now works fine - thanks for your quick responses!

  • Stuck at bootup, blank screen - CD drive making sound

One of my games is stuck in the CD drive of my Macbook(its a Windows game by the way, typical!). It wouldn't come out so I restarted the computer and tried to eject using the trackpad button. No luck, but now, I hear a whirring sound like the CD drive is tryin to read the disc all the time. Plus the Apple logo won't come up. I've tried resetting the PRAM ( I think its called that) and I've tried to get to the Boot Camp screen but no luck. Any help?

    Welcome to the Apple discussions.
You're getting a kernel panic, which is usually, but not always, caused by a hardware problem. This FAQ may help: http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/kernelpanics.html
When the disk drive makes all sorts of crazy sounds, that's usually an indicator that it's dead. If it's 3-5 years old, that's where they start to fail.
If you have the original OS X disks that came with your system, you can run the Apple hardware test to see if it confirms a hard drive issue. Insert the disk that says 'AHT Version x.x' in small print on the label. Reboot holding the alt key down, choose the Apple hardware test, and when prompted, choose the extended test. Does that give you any messages?

  • My classic is stuck on a blank screen and it won't connect to any device or reset when I hold the menu and center buttons. Any ideas what's up and how to fix it?

I know click hold on and off then hold the menu and center button until the apple logo appears. I have tried this so many times and my iPod Classic is still unresponsive! I've tried plugging my iPod into my Mac, my wall charger, my ihome, everything, but nothing works. It won't connect to iTunes to restore or anything. I've tried leaving it unplugged long enough to let the battery die and then tried plugging it in, a method I've utilized successfully with other iPods but that didn't work either. I really just starting to lose faith in the quality of this product. The first classic I bought didn't work at all and I had to exchange it. This one I bought to replace my 5 year old nano and it hasn't even lasted 7 months! Somebody please offer me a solution and assure me that I didn't waste $250 on a crap piece of technology. I'm desperate!

Although you say you have let the battery drain, was it for long enough? Since nothing else that you've tried so far has worked, I suggest that you leave the iPod unplugged for at least four days, preferably a week. That way, if something is stopping the iPod from turning the screen on, then whatever it is will drain the battrey. However, since the screen isn't on, that may take longer than if the screen was on.
Then, after that time, plug the iPod into a power source and leave it alone for at least thirty minutes. Only after thirty minutes will it show any signs of life, but you should leave it until it is fully charged before trying to use it.
If you get to this stage, the fact that the battery has drained will cause the iPod to reset when it springs back to life.
Let us know how you get on.

  • Alu iMac stuck in SLEEP / Blank screen problem! Please Help!

I have a 24" 2.4GHz Alu iMac. I usually sleep my computer quite often at night instead of a full shutdown (although I make sure I shutdown completely a couple of times a week).
Recently I have gone to wake my iMac up in the morning only to get no response from keyboard / mouse. Upon a closer look I have realized that the imac is actually awake as I can hear the fans running, so it has woken by itself at some point during the night even though there is nothing on screen and no response to keyboard/mouse. I have then had to force it to shut down, something I hate having to do.
I've verified and repaired disk permissions, verified and repaired disk, reset the SMC, all without any change. There are external drives plugged in to firewire ports but none of these are on when problem happens. I have tried unplugging the drives when the imac is not responsive but it still fails to "wake". Although I have a wireless keyboard and mouse, they have full battery power and during short periods of sleep wake the imac up with no problems, it seems it's the long overnight periods that causes the problem. Is the time of night a factor perhaps? I herd something about imacs doing automatic maintenance at 4 in the morning or something? As I said before I have always slept my imac for long periods without problems, this is a recent thing the happened suddenly, perhaps coinciding with an update, I'm not sure.
I have created a new post as I am sure the iMac is not technically "sleeping" at the point of no response, so I don't want to it to get confused with potentially another issue of imacs not waking from sleep (although some of the people experiencing sleep problems may have imacs doing what mine is without realizing!).
Has anyone else experienced the above?
    Thanks guys.

    HI Joey,
    Try resetting the PRAM/VRAM. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
*"Is the time of night a factor perhaps? I herd something about imacs doing automatic maintenance at 4 in the morning or something? "*
Yes, your iMac if turned on will run "cron" tasks (maintenance), but it can run while the computer is sleeping. Here's the schedule for it. *"These tasks are scheduled for 03:15 to 05:30 in your computer's local time zone. "* More info here. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2319?viewlocale=en_US
Check System Preferences/EnergySaver and click the Sleep tab. Click the Schedule tab and make sure you don't have a startup / wake scheduled.
*"Although I have a wireless keyboard and mouse, they have full battery power and during short periods of sleep wake the imac up with no problems,"*
Check System Preferences/Bluetooth. Click the Advanced tab. Do you have the; Allow Bluetooth devices to wake this computer selected?
Check System Preferences/Security and click the General tab. Do you have the; Require password to wake this computer from sleep or screen saver selected?

  • Will a new MotherBoard cure Blank Screen with blinking cursor?

Stuck with Blank Screen with blinking cursor; ESC key couldn’t bring up Startup Menu; OS is not loading
Product Name: HP G62 237 CA Notebook PC
    Short description of the problems:
--- Press ESC key couldn’t bring up Startup Menu when booting up
--- Blank screen with blinking cursor thereafter
--- Stuck here forever and OS is not loading
    DETAILED INFORMATION:
    Product Name and Operating System:
Model: HP G62 237 CA Notebook PC
    O/S: Pre-loaded with Win 7 Home Prem
    Processor: Pent. Dual-Core CPU T4500 2.30GHz
    Memory: 4GB
    BIOS Ver. (Insyde): F.17
    System BOARD ID: 1484
    Product #: WQ767UA#ABC
    Product Config ID: 049C110000202710000020000
    Problem History:
--- Used to have frequent BSOD (got fixed later because of faulty RAM that I suspected)
    --- Window couldn’t be loaded
--- Window Repair and HP Recovery were tried but not functioning
--- OEM Hard Drive was then removed & formatted few times by using other computer
--- Hard Drive was then tested by other computer; it can be installed Win XP & Win 7
--- So, Hard Drive was eliminated from the suspect list
--- Replaced with other good RAM from other computers & put back the OEM Hard Drive to my HP G62; everything worked fine, such as: able to reinstall Win 7; listening to music files; got Internet to download latest BIOS from HP support site; connected to my 42 inched TV as my monitor; and even smoothly updated the BIOS from v.17 to v.37!
--- Also, able to receive Window Updates from the Internet; and seemed that all problems were nicely solved
--- Once I believe my system got stabilized; I went back to test the 2 supposedly problematic RAM to see whether they were both faulty or not, then the whole thing has turned around! Completely screwed me up until this moment …
--- After put back the problematic RAM, Window couldn’t be loaded …
--- With a few error messages… such as,
    --- The file is possibly corrupt. The file header checksum does not match the computed checksum;
--- After the next reboot… an unexpected screen message showed up:

--- After that, OS was not loading …
--- Press ESC key couldn’t bring up the Startup Menu during boot up
--- Blank screen with blinking cursor thereafter and seems stuck here forever
    Procedures performed for troubleshooting:
Tried hard reset for more than 5 times (removed battery, AC adapter disconnected and then hold down the Power button for more than 60 secs) and tried reseating memory too; same result with Blank Screen with blinking cursor after each reboot.
Connected to an external monitor [Fn + F4/F5] to see whether there was any display, nothing has showed on the external monitor, it seemed that no connection established between the two.
Finally, took the long journey to follow the Service and Maintenance Guide of HP G62 to remove the CMOS battery for well over 15 minutes and put it back. But the result was again disappointed. Tried 4 times already. The latest error message is:
The CMOS checksum is invalid. The CMOS will be reset to the default configuration and will be rebooted. Please check your BIOS Setup options to see if they change.
    CMOS Reset (502)
    ENTER – Reboot the system
After this message, the same Blank Screen with blinking cursor came back. And pressing the ESC key couldn’t bring up Startup Menu when booting up …
Note: the fan is still running; the Power button is functioning but seems stuck here forever!
I’ve already carefully read this HP Support document titled “HP BIOS Application Selected is Corrupt or Missing”:
    http://h10010.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c01443485#N144
If really is the BIOS problems, then I will have the difficulties of updating a Window-based BIOS when I couldn’t even load Window!
(Note: Boot from USB has no point because right now I couldn’t change the boot sequence because the various “Startup Menu” options are not showing up!)
Secondly, I am still stuck with the Blank Screen with a blinking cursor after I passed the first screen of “Press the ESC key for Startup Menu” when re-booted again!
Thirdly, I have formatted my Hard Drive more than 3 times during the last few days for testing; I don’t have the OEM pre-loaded Win 7 with me anyone … and I don’t think I have the UEFI installed previously on my system. I did try hold down the Win Key + B with the most updated BIOS in the attached USB …, it came back with the same blank screen with a cursor blinking after reboot.
Note: the Blank Screen I’m experiencing right now is not completely black, in fact, there is background light from behind the screen and on each reboot, I can see the HP logo and the left corner message of: “Press ESC key for Startup Menu” … So, I suppose that my computer screen is not physically broken at least.
    Requests:
Please explain to me that what are the problem areas and the root causes if is possible?
What steps or other tests can be done to make it work again?
Do you think replacing the entire MotherBoard can cure the Blank Screen with blinking cursor?
[Warranty: expired! I am the original purchaser & the end-user of this HP G62; acquired 2 years ago directly from a trustworthy source: staples (in Canada). Would HP Support still willing to service it for an extra charge?]
Thanks in advance for any suggestion and idea!
