  • DUMP TSV_NEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED

    Hello Everybody,
We are getting the dump DUMP_TSV_NEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED in our SAP R/3 4.6C application 32 bits
No storage space available for extending table "IT_16".
    What happened?
You attempted to extend an internal table, but the required space was
    not available.
Anybody now the solution to this dump?
Should we increase the memory in our Windows operational system?

    There is no general solution.
That dumps means, that you have reached the maximum amount of RAM imposed by the operating system. By default a 32bit application can only allocate 2 GB of memory in total.
You have various options - like enable /3GB option in your boot.ini or trying to reduce the amount of memory needed for the program. However, the long term solution would be to migrate to 64bit (and to upgrade 4.6c).

  • PO archiving

My settings in config are Residence time 1 is 730 and residence time 2 is 365
This means if there is no change in PO for 730 days then deletion indicator will be set.
Then after 365 days , the PO will be deleted from the data base.
    1. I guess for residence time 2 period, we will not be able to do any changes in PO, is this correct?
If yes, then why residence time2 is there?
    2. I manually deleted a PO line item. In next archival run (runs every month) this PO is marked as eligible for archival.Means I am not able to do any changes in this PO.
Where I can find the settings for this?
    Please advice.

a deletion indicator set manually or via the preproc program in archiving does not restrict the user from doing any changes.
Please read OSS Note 948493 - Residence time in new reports RM06EV47, RM06BV47
here SAP explains how the preproc and the write program interact with the residence time.

  • MM_EKKO Archiving - PO deactivated

    Hello all,
In R/3 4.6C i made a test run for MM_EKKO archiving object, the spool result differenciate between PO archived and deactivated. Could you please explain me the difference?
One more question, the test run shouldn't se the indicator for deletion, is it correct? it seems that in my test run the system modified all PO insered into archiving selection.
    Thank you for collaboration.
    Fuffo

Deactivated means that you have executed a 2-step archiving.
You have different residence times. SAP set the deletion flag if residence time one is met, but residence time 2 not yet.
If both times are met, the PO gets archived.
for examples see OSS note 948493 - Residence time in new reports RM06EV47, RM06BV47
You probably have customized the test variant for MM_EKKO as production variant, other wise SAP would not have updated your database.

  • Run time error : TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED in st22

    Hi All,
we are getting runtime error : TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED in production system. for this report rsppfprocess we have batch jobs so may be its running all the action definition and coming up with consuming more memory ? we already checked with basis but they are saying its rsppfprocess program issue. can you please guide me how to solve this issue.
    Jimmi.

    Hi Jimmi,
The error TSV_NEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED means that more memory was requested
because the program needed to expand an internal table, but is not available.
When Extended Memory is used up, the process will go into PRIV mode
as it starts using Heap Memory  (or vice-versa).  No other user will be able to use this work process while it is in PRIV mode.
If there is enough heap for it to finish, you will not see the error TSV_NEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED and the work process will be freed.
This seems to be a problem with loading of shared memory.
Check value of parameter abap/shared_objects_size_MB in RZ11.
Set the parameter to minimum 250 and increase it when necessary, as per SAP note 1281896. You must start the system newly so that the change becomes effective.
Also take a look at SAP Note 1166259.

  • Archiving MM_EKKO

We have started archiving mm_ekko obbject . Situation which i am facing is that when i ran write job to archive few month of data i was able to archive majority of that data but for some purchase document i get this message "Change date of purchasing doc. item within retention period".
I have checked the config for all the doc type and we have specified residence time 1 and 2.
Also when i check these document in ME23N i get a message displayed that "Document is archived" but i don't see any archive file created for these document which i can delete and store in the archive server. Now when the user pull up the information for these document it still coming from SAP DB .
Can some please provide the config information which i need to change for such document . The delivery date which is mention on these document are in the range of date for which i am archiving.
Please provide some information on how i can archive such document
    Thanks

    Dear Andy,
    Thats really weird.
What is the release you are using??
In Standard SAP, You have different residence times.
SAP set the deletion flag if residence time one is met, but residence time 2 not yet.
If both times are met, the PO gets archived.
for examples see OSS note 948493 - Residence time in new reports RM06EV47, RM06BV47 .
And if you are using 4.6c Version, then OSS note 588463 .
A document item gets deactivated (deletion indicator) if you have more than one items in a document, but not all fulfill the archiving criteria, then the once that fulfill the criteria get deactivated, the other remain untouched. But the document gets only archived if all items are deactivated.
Please check and let us know.

  • TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED Dump in CRM

    Hi Experts,
While accessing the custom componenet in CRM system we are getting the dump TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED saying No more storage space available for extending an internal table. And we are not getting this dump every time we access this componenet. We get it on a particular time. And when we checked the shared memory in SHMA during that time, Free memeory is very less. Automatically after sometime the free memory gets increased. Then the dump does not occur. What could be the reason. Do we need to change any memory parameter. Kindly clarify.
    Thanks & Regards,

The error TSV_NEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED means that more memory was requested

Setting of em/initial_size_MB usually depends on the physical RAM on the server and if you have any other instances on that same server. According to note #146289 this can be increased to very high

  • Modify a SELECT Query on ISU DB tables to improve performance

    Hi Experts,
I have a SELECT query in a Program which is hitting 6 DB tables by means of 5 inner joins.
The outcome is that the program takes an exceptionally long time to execute, the SELECT statement being the main time consumer.
Need your expertise on how to split the Query without affecting functionality -
    The Query :
    SELECT  fkkvkpgpart eablablbelnr eabladat eablistablart
      FROM eabl
INNER JOIN eablg  ON eablgablbelnr = eablablbelnr
INNER JOIN egerh  ON egerhequnr    = eablequnr
INNER JOIN eastl  ON eastllogiknr  = egerhlogiknr
INNER JOIN ever   ON everanlage    = eastlanlage
INNER JOIN fkkvkp ON fkkvkpvkont   = evervkonto
      INTO TABLE itab
WHERE eabl~adat GT [date which is (sy-datum - 3 years)]
    Thanks in advance,
    PD

    Hi Prajakt
There are a couple of issues with the code provided by Aviansh:
    1) Higher Memory consumption by extensive use of internal tables (possible shortdump TSV_NEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED)
    2) In many instances multiple SELECT ... FOR ALL ENTRIES... are not faster than a single JOIN statement
    3) In the given code the timeslices tables are limited to records active of today, which is not the same as your select (taking into account that you select for the last three years you probably want historical meter/installation relationships as well*)
    4) Use of sorted/hashed internal tables instead of standard ones could also improve the runtime (in case you stick to all the internal tables)
Did you create an index on EABL including columns MANDT, ADAT?
Did you check the execution plan of your original JOIN Select statement?
    Yep
    Jürgen
You should review your selection, because you probably want business partner that was linked to the meter reading at the time of ADAT, while your select doesn't take the specific Contract / Device Installation of the time of ADAT into account.
Example your meter reading is from 16.02.2010
Meter 00001 was in Installation 3000001 between 01.02.2010 and 23.08.2010
Meter 00002 was in Installation 3000001 between 24.08.2010 and 31.12.9999
Installation 3000001 was linked to Account 4000001 between 01.01.2010 and 23.01.2011
Installation 3000001 was linked to Account 4000002 between 24.01.2010 and 31.12.9999
This means with your select returns four lines and you probably want only one.
To achieve that you have to limit all timeslices to the date of EABL-ADAT (selects from EGERH, EASTL, EVER).
    Update:
Coming back to point one and the memory consumption:
What are you planning to do with the output of the select statment?
Did you get a shortdump TSV_NEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED with three years meter reading history?
Or did you never run on production like volumes yet?
Dependent on this you might want to redesign your program anyway.

  • Short DUMP: EXSORT_NOT_ENOUGH_MEMORY

    Hello everyone,
Our user is running some reports using Transaction IQ09-
Display Material Serial Number List, and its going to the dump
by giving error message as "STORAGE_PARAMETERS_WRONG_SET"
    or "TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED" or EXSORT_NOT_ENOUGH_MEMORY.
We have tried to execute this transaction in background mode
and still getting the same dump/error message. We are getting
this error in our Production R/3 system (PU1) and it is
    affecting business operations.
"In the what you can do" section in DUMP log, this is what I find:
    Set the system profile parameters
    - abap/heap_area_dia
    - abap/heap_area_nondia
to a maximum of 687977744. Then reduce the value by 10.000.000 to be on the
    safe side.
    Then restart the SAP System.
Our system is 32-bit SAP kernel and what these DUMPs means is additional memory is required to extend the internal table, but none is available. This error is usually due to a lack of system resources for the roll area where internal tables are processed.
Below are the profile parameters we have set in our PRD system.
    ztta/roll_first                             1024
    ztta/roll_area                             2000896
    abap/heap_area_dia                   2000683008
    abap/heap_area_nondia              2000683008
    abap/heap_area_total                 2000683008
    abap/heaplimit                           40894464
    abap/swap_reserve                     20971520
    ztta/roll_extension                      2000683008
    em/initial_size_MB                     5765
    em/blocksize_KB                       1024
Do I need to change any of the above profile parameters in RZ10 to get rid of the dump? Do you think this will have any adverse effect on our production system such are system may run out of shared memory.
Any help will be greately appreciated and points will be rewarded.
    Thanks,
    Shahid Anjum

    Hi Shahid,
To understand how the system performs sorting and the EXSORT_NOT_ENOUGH_MEMORY error, see SAP Note 193529 Sort as of 4.5A/EXSORT_NOT_ENOUGH_MEMORY.
The error TSV_NEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED means that more memory was requested  because the program needed to expand an internal table, but the memory was not available.
When Extended Memory is used up, the process will go into PRIV mode as it starts using Heap Memory (or vise-versa).  No other user will be able to use this wp while it is in PRIV mode.  If there is enough heap for it to finish, you will not see the error TSV_NEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED and the wp will be freed.
You should check your settings for the profile parameters abap/heap_area_total and abap/heap_area_nondia against the Notes:
146289  Parameter Recommendations for 64-Bit SAP Kernel
425207  SAP memory management, current parameter ranges
    Also, see the Notes:
    20527  Runtime error TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED
217262  Runtime error text for TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED
185185  Application: Analysis of memory bottlenecks
    649327  Analysis of memory consumption
However, often the problem may not be with memory settings, but with the selection values the user is entering for the report.  That is, they may be entering a very wide range against a very large table.  In these cases, check the selection values and reduce them.  Also, check the affected table size and consider if parts of it may be archived.
    Best Regards,
    Matt

  • TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED Short Dump

    Hi
I am scheduling a Setup tables job in background to fill setup table but i am getting a short dump with TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED error
any ideas on how can i fix it
    Thanks in advance

The error TSV_NEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED means that more memory was requested by the system because the program needed to expand an internal table, but not is available. When Extended Memory is completely used up, the process will go into PRIV mode and it will start using Heap Memory in case of Windows or vice versa in case of Unix. Once this enters into PRIV mode, no other user will be able to use the corresponding work process. If there is enough memory for it to finish, You will not see the error.
Note: Internal table can store max of 2GB data.
Please refer the following SAP notes:
SAP Note 649327 Analysis of memory consumption.
SAP Note 20527 Runtime error TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED
SAP Note 185185 Application: Analysis of memory bottlenecks
    SAP Note 369726 TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED
    What can you do?
    1)     Process smaller chunks of data. (E.g. not all 50.000 records at once) is one option.
    2)     Create a memory snapshot right before the program dumps and analyze where the memory is consumed in order to understand if or where you can reduce memory consumption.

  • Dump: No more space in Rollarea

    Hi all,
i got a shortdump while appending records to an internal table (TSV_NEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED).
The strange thing, which i dont´t understand is that
im using the statements free, reject and clear after 10.000 records were added to the internal table but
the shortdump log shows that there are nevertheless more than 100.000 records in the table.
How can i free up the memory used by the internal table ??
    Any ideas ?
    regards
    André
Message was edited by: Andre Werz

If the dump indicates that there are more than 100K records in the internal table, then the only possibility is that you have a bug in the logic / algorithm that clears out the internal table every 10K records.
If you have an internal table without a header line, then the statements FREE, REFRESH and CLEAR will all empty the internal table so that its row count is 0.  The difference between CLEAR/REFRESH and FREE, is that only the FREE statement will release the memory previously allocated for those rows.  The idea is that FREE is called when you know the internal table is not going to be re-populated, and CLEAR/REFRESH is used when the internal table needs to be emptied and then re-populated (avoiding the overhead of allocating memory again).
If the internal table has a header line, then "CLEAR TAB" will only initialise the header line, whereas "CLEAR TAB[]" will have the same effect as "REFRESH TAB".  The REFRESH statement will not initialise a header line.
I assume you meant to type REFRESH rather than REJECT, as the REJECT keyword is for an entirely different purpose not related to internal tables.
    Cheers,
    Scott

  • Archiving MM_EBAN and Special stock

    Hi Experts,
I want to do archiving for these 2 objects: EBAN and SP Stock.
Anyone can give details on how to do it for specific plant/company code and period. As I found that in the archiving programs RM06BW30 (EBAN), there's no plant/company code and period paramater in the selection screen, and MMREO020 (SP Stock) there's no period parameter. I compared to RM08RARC (IV), there are company code and document date in the selection screen.
    Please help.
    Thank you.
    -auLia-

    In which Release you are?
RM06BW30 has Plant as parameter in 46c releases, but not anymore in ECC6.
In ECC6 release you should not use RM06BW30 anymore.
You shall use: RM06BV47 (preprocessing) and RM06BW47 (writing). Both have as well the plant as selection parameter.
Best you use always SARA transaction, instead of executing reports.
In ECC6 there is as well a new report for special stock: MMREO020N.
You have a residence time for the batch.

  • RSSM_TRANSFER_FILE_TO_APPSERV requriement

    Dear All,
I am using a program RSSM_TRANSFER_FILE_TO_APPSERV to move the file from pc to application server. When this program tries to move a big file then it fails and gives a dump ""TSV_NEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED". This is is coming may be because internable table not able to handle more than 1 GB limit.
Requirement is to send the bigger file to app servre using the same program. Is it possible to do like read the file in chunks and after placing on the app server the internal table contents should get cleared and this is repeated till the whole file is read.
or if it can be done in any other way?
Any inputs on this? Please share.
    Thank you!

you must have an older system....current version of this program utilizes (as it should) GUI_UPLOAD.  CG3* transactions and WS_* functions are seriously out of date.
Why do you get a conversion error?  Do you have an ASCII or Binary file and do you have the path/filename exactly correct?  It could be that you're hitting limitations due to file size capability in the gui.  There are many ways to move a file to an APPS server....check with your Basis guys...it may be much more beneficial to use some other tool, like FTP, to copy a file from desktop source to apps server target.
