The jack is "loose"?  Has it been yanked on excessively and broken the inner connection to the motherboard?
Repairs can be found at usedpdaparts.com and pdaparts.com for reasonable prices.

  • M100 stuck in infinite loop

Someone just brought their m100 to me and I am unable to help them so I am turning to you to try to help me out here.
The palm keeps blinking on and off from the logo to a blank screen. I cannot get it to respond. I tried a soft reset but it wont respond.
I am also unable to sync the palm because it is in the "keyboard mode." Anyway, it wont respond so there is NO way to get it to sync.
I cannot do a hard reset before I sync this palm because I am trying to retrieve all the information. All I need is to get it onto the computer - so a hard reset is not the solution!
Any suggestions as to how to get it to respond?

Sounds like you are stuck in a reset loop.  The only want that I have been able to break out of it is with a hard reset.  Knowing that you can't perform a hard reset because you will lose your data, have you tried a warm reset yet?  A warm reset is like booting your PC in "safe mode".  Under a warm reset some features are disabled like IR beaming and networking.  You might be able to HotSync to back up your data and then perform the hard reset.
Check out this page for details on how to perform a warm reset.

While using my handheld, I received an error message and the choice to restart.  I chose to restart, but when I try to access any of my software from Skyscape (which I need ASAP) I receive a message stating that it has not been installed.  I tried hotsyncing, but it did not solve this problem.  What do I need to do?  Thanks.

It sounds like you may need to remove the software and  reinstall it. This software from my understanding, has a specific process to install and uninstall.
    Here is the  uninstall process:

  • Help - Tungsten E - BellTime / Alarms S/W & Device Sound

    Hi there,
    I have a question.
I downloaded the Lite version of 'BellTime' and noticed that there were too few slots for the amount of alarms that I want to use.
Also, I noticed that when I tested out one or more of the alarms, there was no sound coming out of my Tungsten E Palm Pilot? Is this sound problem related to BellTime or to some other software component missing from my device?
    Best Regards,
    jrn81

Does your device still make sounds when other programs are used?  If so, then the problem is most likely with "BellTime"...

  • No sound on Tungsten E

The sound quit working on my Tungsten E. It used to work fine and all of the sudden it quit working. When you click on real player and start a song you can see that it is playing but no sound. Can anyone help?

Try using some headphones.  If you get sound through them, then you probably have a stuck switch inside the headphone socket.
Try inserting/removing the plug several times in succession, and if no joy add a drop of WD-40 to the plug and repeat the procedure.

  • Did I make major mistake buying this product? Tungsten E2

Somebody...anybody...if you feel you want to make a difference in somebody's life, and are not sure where to start, please start here and help this poor sucker out with any information you might have.
I recently purchased a Palm Tungsten E2 ("TE2"), and it was a bit of an impulse buy which I didn't think through fully.  I blew almost $300 on the thing at BestBuy (not counting the softward upgrade I had to buy so I could convert PDFs and view them on the device), which my wife is already on my case about.
It looks like I made the wrong purchase altogether, but maybe someone can help me understand how to overcome the apparent shortcomings, or understand the advantages of the device a little better (so I can feel better about the purchase, and try and convince my wife I'm not a total idiot-- although that ship has sailed really.  Can't blame Palm for that).  Solving some of these problems could well preserve my marriage and really improve the overall quality of life of the family.
    1. The TE2 doesn't appear to be able to be recognized as a simple USB storage device on a Windows PC (which is what I use at work). So I can't move any info back and forth without loading up the PalmOne software (let alone opening and reading office files or PDF's).  At work, they won't allow me to load that software, because they're afraid I could accidentally introduce a virus or compromise confidential customer data stored on the network.  So I can't do away with my flash drive-- I still need to keep it with me and copy anything to it that I want to take home, convert and load up to the PDA there.
    2. The TE2 doesn't appear to have the capability of storing MP3 files without the purchase of an additional SD card (whatever that is...some kind of memory card? can you tell I'm illiterate? And did I tell you I've already spent plenty of dough?). I really love music, and I would love to be able to just play MP3's from the thing without spending another hard-earned cent.
    3. The TE2 can't connect to the internet wirelessly (or by wire, to my knowledge), unless you count blue tooth connection to a compatible cellular phone or PC or laptop with blue-tooth adapter (within 10 or 15 feet of where you're standing).  If I'm within fifteen feet of such a device, why not just log onto that device and browse that way?  Why bother trying to figure out if it's compatible/blue-tooth capable?  And if I'm within 15 feet of my home PC, I might as well just plug in via USB port to "hot-sync", instead of blue tooth.  I mean, I'm right there anyway, so what's the point?  So I can't just pull out my TE2 and check the weather, or movie showtimes, or mapquest.
    4. To make efficient use of my contacts on the TE2, I would need a telephone with blue tooth feature, which I don't currently have.  (Same for web surfing.)  So that's more expense, and even then I'm working with 2 devices.  (Although I'm told it can be frustrating to do things on a blackberry while you're in a telephone conversation.  So writing down honey-do lists would still be easier on the TE2.)
    5. In order to share/"beam" any files to my wife's handheld (when she purchases one-- she hasn't yet), she would have to have a compatible one, I think.  But so far she's not impressed, so I wonder if she'll even buy a Palm product.
    6. In a real life writing situation, when I'm not staring at the device and concentrating on every stroke of the stylus, I get about a 50% success rate, as far as the device recognizing the letters I print (very frustrating).  I'm trying to go paperless and ramp up my personal efficiency, but my wife is rolling her eyes and I'm starting to stress her out.  By the time I get her to-do-list down (and it's usually sizeable), she has forgotten the rest of what she wanted to put on the list.  You may think that works to my benefit, but not so-- not in the long run. There does not appear to be a way to 'train' the device to recognize the way I draw an 'r' when I'm in a hurry.  It just let's you pick one or two pre-set variations on how to write a handful of letters or symbols.
    7. By the time I get a PDF loaded to the PalmOne software at home, or god-help-me if I've scanned a document on my HP (a 15 minute process in itself, minimum for one page even) and then 'hot-sync'd', I've waited about as long as I can bare to wait.  But the converted pdf pages take over 15 seconds to load just to view, even if already on the TE2.  (Like if I'm on page one, finish, and go to page 2, that transition takes over 15 seconds).  In this day and age, 15 seconds to load a single page is actually a long time.  There is no high-speed toggling back and forth, so you better really be done with that page. It'll take you another 15 seconds if you change your mind.  I never realized how awkward 15 minutes of waiting can be, when you're trying to justify a purchase.
    8. Ideally I can work on converted excel and word files on the TE2, but then I can't just walk into work and transfer that to my PC, unless I have the PalmOne software loaded at work-- which as I stated was a no-no.
    9.  The entire owner's manual should just automatically come as an e-book loaded on the device, but it doesn't. I have to get to a PC and go surfing in order to read up on how to do anything on this device, and it's really cumbersome (because I have a lot of kids, and there's just no time to do anything...).
    10.  I bought the geek-squad protection from BestBuy, and out of the gate they appear to have given me bad info.
Anyway, anyone care to field some of these concerns, and help get me on track to increased productivity and happier marriage with some helpful hints?  Anything to avoid more hardship and heartbreak would also be good.  Oh, and sorry I sounded whiny...
    Thanks!

That sounds pretty harsh, unless you have been doing *other* things to antagonize your Spousal Unit.  You are among friends here, where purchasing a Palm handheld is presumptive evidence of one's intelligence and good judgment (not to mention good looks).  Even "impulse purchases" are usually made for at least one good reason, even if it's only: "I've always wanted one of those..."
Curious what they added to the $199 E2 to make it come out to $300?  And what software did you purchase to view PDFs?  The E2 comes with Adobe Reader for Palm (more below).  If you are referring to upgraded Documents To Go, PDF files require no conversion for viewing on the handheld.
That is correct, you cannot simply plug the E2 into any old computer with a USB cable if the Palm Desktop software isn't installed, at least out of the box.  The older (and discontinued) T5 and also the LifeDrive used to have this capability which was called "Drive Mode."  There are third-party software alternatives such as http://www.softick.com/cardexport2/ which will let a SD card inserted in your E2 to be read as any other external storage card.  It is a "try before you buy" application, so you can give it a test drive for free.  I have not used it, and I think there are also others.
That is also correct...you will need a SD card to load .mp3 files for playback.  They are ridiculously inexpensive these days, compared with what they used to cost, at least. For your E2, you need a 1GB maximum size, regular, plain-jane SD card, not a SDHC (high capacity) card.  Shouldn't cost more than $15.
If you do have a Bluetooth phone, and a carrier that allows this connectivity, you can use your E2 anywhere you have a cell phone signal to browse the internet and check email.  Now, you are correct that if your phone is already so enabled, you *can* just do those things on your phone without having to go through the setup, etc.  But many people think the email and web functionality of the E2 is pretty superior to what you get on most cell phones.  If it's Wi-Fi you want, you can get a Palm Wi-Fi card.  It is apparently a discontinued item, but still available at many online vendors including amazon.
All depends on what you need to be able to do.  I have a Centro smartphone now, but I also have a couple of TX handhelds (two being better than one  ) , and if one of them is handy I use the Contacts database all the time to look up people and places.  Depending on the phone, you might also be able to sync contacts between your phone and E2 using Bluetooth.
    5. In order to share/"beam" any files to my wife's handheld (when she purchases one-- she hasn't yet), she would have to have a compatible one, I think.  But so far she's not impressed, so I wonder if she'll even buy a Palm product.
Tough call, trying to impress the unimpressed (or unimpressable) Spousal Unit.  I've been there for years, and long ago stopped trying.  I do like to show her up every now and then when I can search for movie information on my Palms with Leonard Maltin's Movie Guide much, much faster than she can with that 4" thick book.  That said, any Palm handheld, even an old used one, will be able to share contact and calendar info with your new E2 via IR beaming.  There is also a third-party application called SyncUs which lets multiple users with separate Hotsync IDs synchronize selected databases using the desktop Hotsync...perfect for families who need to share contact or calendar info.
Graffiti is something that you can get pretty good at over time.  Are you using a screen protector?  Some of them can either make Graffiti stroke recognition better or worse.  The ones I like the best are the hard plastic "ClearTouch" ones from Boxwave.  There are also a few "word completion" applications out there which will pop up suggested words when you start entering characters.  On my Centro I use TextPlus which I think will also work for graffiti-input.
Some people swear by the "virtual" on-screen keyboard in lieu of graffiti data entry.  In addition to the built-in one, there are third-party virtual keyboards which are configurable.  I tried one and didn't particularly care for it.
A wireless keyboard is also an excellent option for longer data-entering chores like editing documents or longer memos.  Either the Palm Universal Wireless Keyboard (uses the IR port) or the Palm Bluetooth Keyboard would work well for you.
But the rolling of the eyes thing is a sign of disrespect, which is a learned behavior and all too prevalent among wives these days.  Does your wife watch a lot of TV shows and commercials where the wife and children are the intelligent, worldly, sophisticated and attractive people who add to society, while the husband is nothing but a clueless dolt and an object of scorn and ridicule whose only value is the income he brings home?  They should let me write for TV.  But I digress...
Adobe Reader for Palm is an old and outdated application.  Try the freeware PalmPDF which gets mostly rave reviews here and elsewhere, and does *not* require conversion on your desktop first.  Another application which can read "native" pdf files (i.e. without conversion) is the current version of Documents To Go, which is a $30 (I think) paid upgrade from the version which comes with the E2.
    8. Ideally I can work on converted excel and word files on the TE2, but then I can't just walk into work and transfer that to my PC, unless I have the PalmOne software loaded at work-- which as I stated was a no-no.
Well, you can move the files to your PC if you have a USB SD card reader.  Make sure the files are on the card.  Pop the card into a card reader, plug it into your PC, and off you go.  You could also email the file to yourself at work from the E2 (requires wireless email, discussed above), or Bluetooth it to your PC if your PC is Bluetooth-enabled.
    9.  The entire owner's manual should just automatically come as an e-book loaded on the device, but it doesn't. I have to get to a PC and go surfing in order to read up on how to do anything on this device, and it's really cumbersome (because I have a lot of kids, and there's just no time to do anything...).
You can put the owners manual onto a SD card if you want.  It comes as a .pdf on the installation disc, and is also downloadable from the E2 support site.  It's a pretty large file and reading it/navigating around it on the E2 might be a little clunky, even with PalmPDF or Documents To Go v.10.  I would not even *try* using Adobe Reader for Palm to put it onto the E2 that way.
    10.  I bought the geek-squad protection from BestBuy, and out of the gate they appear to have given me bad info.
I don't know exactly what that gets you.  What did they say it was, and how much did that cost you?  If it includes an extended warranty, then maybe there's some benefit.
Anyway, anyone care to field some of these concerns, and help get me on track to increased productivity and happier marriage with some helpful hints?  Anything to avoid more hardship and heartbreak would also be good.  Oh, and sorry I sounded whiny...
Hope some of this helps.  Do you have an idea of what other types of things you'd like to do with your E2.  There are many more things you can do with the E2, you probably haven't scratched the surface yet.  It doesn't sound like many of them would help your relationship with the Spousal Unit, as I am guessing that she is already predisposed against anything cool like Palm PDAs.  It is a heavy burden which many of us share, but most of us learn to manage.  If you really want to impress her, you can show her how your new E2 can also double as a replacement remote control for your TV, stereo, cable, etc.  Most wives really go for that extra functionality.
If I were to give any piece of unsolicited advice (it being much easier to risk someone else's life than one's own, and spend someone else's money than one's own), you might consider trying to navigate your way into a Palm TX instead of the E2.  Do you have return privileges at BestBuy if you don't like the E2?  If so, I'd jump on it, spring for the TX (bigger screen, more memory, built-in Wi-Fi), and gird yourself for whatever tongue-lashing you'll get.  It'll be worth it.
Good luck.  If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask.

  • "USB device not recognized." "The connection between your device and the desktop could not be established. Please check your setup and try again." Tungsten E2, Outlook 2007

    Hi,
I am running XP SP 2, on a Dell Vostro 1000, Palm OS Garnet v5.4.7 on a Tungsten E2. I have worked though issues relating to synchronization, Outlook 2007, Docs to Go, etc., in the past.  Thank you board members!
Once I worked thru all the initial problems, my Tungsten E2 was sync' ing beautifully to my laptop until a few days ago.  There have been no changes (I know of) to the configuration, but now I receive  "The connection between your device and the desktop could not be established.  Please check your setup and try again."  On the laptop I sometimes get  "USB device not recognized."  I am unclear why I get the PC message sometimes and not others.
I have tried the following: (not necc exactly in this order)
Double checked Hot Sync Mgr settings: Local USB (ver. 6.0.1)
    Reset the Palm (multiple times)
Rebooted the laptop  (multiple times before and after the Palm resets)
Went to Support Libraries including http://kb.palm.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE/,/?St=57,E=0000000001060189973,K=9550,Sxi=3,Case=Obj(3695...)
    and http://kb.palm.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New,Kb=PalmSupportKB,ts=Palm_External2001,Case=obj(1409)
Followed the steps in "Start Here" found at  http://forums.palm.com/palm/board/message?board.id=windows_hotsync&thread.id=26057
Moved Backup directory as per a post on this forum
Looked for a deleted a file called "Graffiti_ShortCuts_____________" per a post on this forum
Followed the steps in HotSync troubleshooter guide you can run through located on
    http://kb.palm.com
Went into Device Manager - found it shows no yellow ! 's
Followed Device Mgr Troubleshooter - went all the way thru with no solution
Tried all four USB ports - the PC's bell-like tone does not sound when I disconnect or reconnect the Plam's cradle like it does when I conn/disconnect other USB devices -I think that is a clue.    ...?
Cleaned the Palm's contacts (and cradle's contacts with a old, dry toothbrush)
Read all the posts under "USB device not recognized."
OK, I'm at a loss, can anyone help me?  Many thanks in advance!

    Hello!
Using a cradle with the Tungsten E2?  Tried bypassing the cradle and just use the hotsync cable?  Tried a different computer yet?  Somehow, the PC is having problems getting a signal from the device.  I assume you have the laptop charger plugged into the laptop during this?  Not going through a docking station or port-replicator.
One crazy thing you can try is unplug the charger from your laptop, remove the battery from the laptop and leave it out for like 10mins and put it back in and reboot the laptop.  This should not cause side effects but still contact your OEM to make sure that nothing else is needed after leaving the battery out for extended period of time.  Keep me posted.

  • Can't HotSync my Tungsten E2 with my Windows Vista 64 Bit System and I'm Upset!!!!!

By no choice of my own we were dealt the unfortunate hand of having to replace our last computer it died and to fix it was too much so against my better judgement we had to get an HP with Windows Vista 64 bit on it and there's a bunch of things that wont work with it and my Palm Tungsten E2 is one of those things that wont work.
I have looked on here before I asked what to do and I've seen something about syncing by bluetooth?  I'm not computer literate so you'll have to speak to me in terms I can understand.  I'm not an idiot but not computer savy.
I know what a blue tooth is but here's where I'll sound "stupid" is it the same type of bluetooth as you'd use for your phone?
I'd really like to get this backed up on our computer because I have alot of info on it and I'm lost without it and I'm tinkled off that now I can't use it.
    Help if you can.
    Thanks,
    Michelle
    Post relates to: Tungsten E2

Hi Michelle, "BlueTooth" is not something you hold in your hand - it's a wireless radio network used for short-range data transfer.   Much like "FM" or "AM" radios.   There are dozens of devices nowadays that have BlueTooth built into them - GPS units, laptops, phones, PDA's, cars, etc.   (And yes, the little earpiece that people love to show off more often than necessary uses BlueTooth!)
Your option is to add BlueTooth capability to your laptop by purchasing a tiny "dongle".  (A dongle is a generic term for any little USB device that protrudes from your computer.)
There are several ongoing threads about syncing to 'Vista 64 via BlueTooth in this section of the forum.  The key to success in purchasing a BlueTooth dongle is verifying that the dongle does support Vista64...

  • Tungsten T5 boot error

Tungsten T5 will only power up when soft reset done.  Connecting to power alone will not power it up.  However, when I do the soft reset, it gets locked up on the "Palm Powered" screen with a horizontal, flashing black line at the top of the screen.  Don't really want to do a hard resent unless I have to. Made a bunch of calendar changes over the weekend that I don't really want to loose (last sync was on Friday). Any other ideas?
    Post relates to: Tungsten T5

Unplugging any USB device before "Ejecting" it from a windows computer is always a bad thing to do...
At this point, your T5 sounds like it has some serious problems.  I'd suggest you follow through with a Hard Reset.
Hopefully, you've been doing regular HotSyncs to safeguard your valuable data!

  • What is best solution for using a Palm Tungsten 2 on a Windows 7 computer?

Driven by the end of XP, I purchased an HP Z230 Workstation running Windows 7 Professional.   I'd like to get my Palm Tungsten 2 working, and I've heard several options here on doing that.
    OPTIONS
    A.  Use Palm Desktop 6.2 with Bluetooth for hotsync.  (I've done this already with a Win7 laptop, but I use the Note Pad utility a lot with some macros, which unfortunately is not supported on  Desktop v6.2).
    B.  Use Palm Desktop 4.1.4 in a virtual Windows XP environment running under Win 7.  I know I can do that, and that is probably my fallback.  However, Microsoft suggests that you disconnect from the Internet any time you use the Virtual XP, because it may be susceptible to hacking since they don't support XP anymore.   So that will be an added nuisance that I will probably forget to do.
    C.  Use the Aceeca USB driver to make Desktop 4.1.4 work.  I tried following the instructions here to do that, but when Hotsync fails, it never shows up as a yellow triangle in the device manager list, even after I followed the trick to make hidden devices visible.  So I have not been able to even try the Aceeca driver with Palm 4.1.4 yet.
    D.  Install the Aceeca Desktop 4.1 and update to their driver.  I could try this (uninstall Palm 4.1.4 and install Aceeca 4.1) but it looks like it depends on the same process to update the driver as my option C just above.  So I'm thinking I may run into the same roadblock as C.
    Questions:
Does anyone have any other ideas of how to get the Aceeca driver hooked up to Palm Desktop 4.1.4 that I could try?
Does anyone know if Aceeca Desktop supports the Note Pad facility if I try option D?
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Palm Blue,
    Thanks for weighing in!
Here is what I know so far.   I use the Palm Desktop 4.1 on my Win XP computer, and have no problems syncing my Tungsten T2 with USB Hotsyncs.
I've also successfully hotsynced the T2 to a Win7 Pro laptop computer using Palm Desktop 6.2. and Bluetooth.
My goal, which sounds like you have already accomplished, is to install Palm Desktop 4.1.4 on my new Win7 Pro desktop, so that I can sync with the T2 and get the Note Pad functionality also.   This is like my "OPTION C."
Did you have to use the Aceeca driver to make this work on your computer, or were you able to do it with the Palm driver?  One other person reported elsewhere having gotten 4.1.4 working on a 64 bit Win7 installation, and he made no mention of the Aceeca driver.  I have not been able to contact him.
In response to your question about what I see when I try to sync:
Palm 4.1.4 is installed on the Win7 Pro desktop, and the hotsync icon is present.
When I try to sync, I hear the characteristic tone indicating that a USB device is recognized.  But I also get a message that pops up near it with the yellow triangle and the following text:
    "USB DEVICE NOT RECOGNIZED"
"One of the USB devices attached to this computer has
malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it.
For assistance in solving this problem, click this
    message."
If I click the message, I get popup window that says,
One of the devices attached to this comptuer has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it."
It then shows a list of the USB devices inside of one of the USB Root Hubs, and one of them has a different icon and a question mark in that icon (not a yellow triangle).  And its description is in bold and it says "Unknown USB Device."
I also looked at the Device Manager during a hotsync to see if it shows a Palm device or an Other category.   Using my XP computer first with the Tungsten T2, and which also syncs okay, it is true that during the Hotsync, the Device Manager adds a device "Palm OS Handheld Device / Palm Handheld," that goes away as soon as the hotsync is complete.
Using the same Palm Tungsten 2, when I attempt the Hotsync in the Win7Pro computer,  "Palm OS Handheld Device/Palm Handheld"  does NOT appear in the Device Manager (nor anything else like it).
So for some reason, my computer does not have seem to have enough of the Palm Desktop/Hotsync installation complete that I can get to the point of either it working, or where I could try to install the Aceeca driver.
I keep trying things to get it to work, but so far now luck.  Looking for more ideas to try.

  • My palm tungsten 2 is frozen on the tap the centre of the target page what can I do to restart it

I also have another tungsten 2 that has the same problem

Hi and welcome to the HP Support Community.
I assume you have the target screens because you Hard Reset the device?
If it will not respond to any taps after a Hard Reset, it sounds like the digitizer is faulty.  Yes, even tho you have two devices it could be the same hardware issue on both of them.  There is a long "stickied" thread near the top of this board which discusses digitizer (touchscreen) problems and their possible resolution.
If none of the solutions there help you out, you can check out Chris Short who can perhaps install a new glass digitizer on your device.  He has a good rep and is pretty much the only Palm OS repair solution I know of these days.
Good luck, let us know how it works out for you.

  • Synching Tungsten E2 with Outlook 2010 on Windows 7 (64 bit)

I am currently using Windows XP and Outlook 2003 with Tungsten E2 but need to replace my PC The new PC will be running Outlook 2010 on Windows 7 (64 bit).
Is there any way of synching my Tungsten E2 to Windows 7 (64 bit) running Outlook 2010?
    With many thanks

I do have the Palm working thru a Bluetooth connection.  Well, at least it completes a sync.  Well, at least the process completes, according to the palm---but nothing really syncs!   Buwahahahahaha!  I came across a posting on another site in which the poster could not get to the "setting portions" of the bluetooth device (basically it was a usb bluetooth dongle).  He opened up the "services" portion of windows and made sure everything that said "bluetooth" was set to automatic.  Thats what I did to get my dongle to work with the Palm (man oh man does that sound nasty!).

  • Documents to go on Tungsten T with Windows Vista

I haven't used my Palm for a number of years and have just started again with my Vista computer.  I need to sync my Windows Vista PC with my Tungsten T to get an Excel spreadsheet from one to the other.  Do I still use Documents to Go or is there some other software now available?  I checked out the DataVis website and it suggests that I can get Documents to go ver.8, however v9 or below won't work with Vista.  v. 10 is their most recent upgrade, however it isn't compatible with Tungsten T!!! I can't seem to get any support on that website, so hopefully someone out there can help?
    Post relates to: Tungsten T

    Dear kalinda13,
This all sound familiar (I have the TX) and short of a cash outlay to upgrade Docs2Go to the most recent 'Vista-friendly' version, you're quite right - the program won't sync with your device. But the program is compatible, the sync isn't.
That said, if you haven't already done it, your Docs2Go should install on your Vista machine (and thus, send the device version over on a HotSync - this being the important part) with few issues. Having done this, open HotSync Manager > Custom > and set Docs2Go as 'Do Nothing' and make this its Default. Now completely ignore the desktop Docs2Go program thereafter - but don't uninstall it. That may cause the device's version to uninstall, too.
Now, the T has a SD slot, yes? A SD card, installed on your T should already have two folders on it - DCIM and Palm. Using my desktop's SD reader/writer, I have further created a folder on a card as Documents, into which I copied via the desktop's SD writer all the relevant Word / Excel docs I want at hand.
Inserted back into my Palm, the device's Docs2Go program then finds and displays them without issue.
Now granted, 'syncing' changed docs is a more manual procedure (involving moving the SD card between devices and copying over / overwriting changes) than with the Desktop Docs2Go program, and you won't have the sync capabilities available as an icon with your Word / Excel program - but if Docs2Go (without cash outlay) doesn't work, that is a bit of a moot point.
And obviously, any files created by another WP Suite (say, OpenOffice) and that is saved to regular Word/Excel file types (not the Office 2007 docs file type) will be able to be read / written by your device's Docs2Go, too.
    Hope this helps!
EDIT: Dataviz (creators of Docs2Go) have just recently announced a discount upgrade path to their current 'Vista-friendly' v10 -
    http://www.palminfocenter.com/news/7437/documents-to-go-special-upgrade-pricing/
at $19.99, normally $29.99. v10 requires PalmOS 5, which I believe the T has, yes?
Meanwhile, Docs2Go for Palm website is here -

  • Tungsten T5 Security

When I click Show Private Records on my T5 it used to ask for a password but now just reveals everything. This is on both my desktop and handheld. Anyone know how get the password security back again?
    Post relates to: Tungsten T5

Hello Yeagene1 and welcome to the Palm forums.
Ok, obvious question time.  Have you checked the password status in the Security control panel in the Prefs application?  It sounds like your password maybe -Unassigned-.  If it is, I would reset the password to whatever you want it to be.
