Turn off Messages' "logged in" sound Mac

When I upgraded to Mavericks i noticed that everytime i opened my Mac and logged in to my computer this sound would go off. After digging around i found out that i was Messages login in back to my messages. I found the sound under Messages App folder. Is there a way to disable that logged in sound?

Yes they were set in the Alerts section of the Preferences which no longer exists.
All the sounds play for the items/action they were designed for.
For example the Ringer sounds plays or A/V invites (AIM and Jabber Buddies)
However for most of they you cannot turn them Off.
I have not experimented with the Notification Centre (In Mountain Lion Messages overrode the Notification settings).
The only setting that can be changed in the Message Received on now set on the General Section.
It has an option for "None".

Hi,
Open the Messages app.
Go to the Preferences item in the app's Menu.
Select the account pane in the Preferences.
Each active account should have a tick in the Enable this Account box.
This can be unticked.
This will stop accounts logging in but will not stop the app Launching in certain circumstances.
First of all check the app is Quit before shutting down the computer.
The fact the app is open even if all windows are hidden can cause the app to restart when you Start up the computer.
Messages is a Multiple window app and using the red button on the top left of a window only closes that window and does not Quit the app.
Also check the System Preferences > Users and Groups > your account > Login Items tab.
This will list items that are set to Start up when the computer does.
I have a couple of External Drive on other computers, some Anti Virus software and the common iTunes Helper plus an old version of TextExpander that will work if I launch the Preference Pane this way.

How to turn off the touch interface sound?

Model: HP Touchsmart IQ826t
Finally get to use this machine the way it was intended now that Windows 8 is out, but the touch interface sound is bothersome. Seems as though it should be the easiest thing in the world to turn off.. but I cannot for the life of me figure it out. Ive searched the web high and low..even seen others ask this same question with no response whatsoever.
How do I turn off the touch interface sound?? (the 'beep' sound made when my finger makes contact with the screen) Ive tried going to the now updated 'Pen and Touch' (previously HP Touchsmart Configurations) settings under the 'Hardware and Sound' in the Control Panel and..nothing.
Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Is there any great way to turn off messages on the ipad without shutting down the ports required to connect to Apple on the firewall? Kids will be kids but teachers are pressing administration for solution. If you shut off messages, I may be mistaken but you can't restrict the kid from turning it back on correct?

If you own/control the iPads that run iOS 6, you can turn off Messages via Apple Configurator or an MDM solution and the students would, to the best of my knowledge, not be able to turn that back on without knowing the Restrictions passcode. For personally owned iPads, the only way to block Messages would be to block the ports at your router. Messages uses port 5222, so if you block that port, that should block the transmission of messages, though the students will still try. For more information on ports, see:

Of course if the student has a cell connection on a personally-owned device, there won't be any way you can block the sending of messages at all.

You can go into Edit, then Preferences, then Advanced, then update, and set your update settings there.

I have a primary database that need to import large amount of data and database objects. 1.) Do I shutdown the standby? 2.) Turn off archive log mode? 3.) Perform the import? 4.) Rebuild the standby? or is there a better way or best practice?

Instead of rebuilding the (whole) standby, you take an incremental (from SCN) backup from the Primary and restore it on the Standby. That way, if, for example
a. Only two out of 12 tablespaces are affected by the import, the incremental backup would effectively be only the blocks changed in those two tablespaces (and some other changes in system and undo) {provided that there are no other changes in the other ten tablespaces}
b. if the size of the import is only 15% of the database, the incremental backup to restore to the standby is small

How can I turn off the sounds of the firefox? I don't want to turn off my whole computer sounds, but just the sounds which comes from the internet. Is there any master button?

All the websites doesn't allow you to turn off the sounds, but that is just the thing I need to do. So how can I turn off the web browsers sounds? This is so small thing, that I refuse to believe that this kind of button doesn't exits.

In Vista you can set the volume and mute setting for each application separately in the volume mixer.
You can click the Volume icon on the Windows Taskbar near the clock and click the Mixer link at the bottom to open the mixer.<br />
You can adjust the volume level for each application in that window.<br />
You will only see the Firefox program in the Mixer if you are on a website that plays sound.

I am using kodo jdo for one of my project. And I don't what to see all the
information on concole.(Where my server is running on) So in my
kodo.properties file I put
"kodo.Log: none" and then restart the server but still I am getting all
information on console.
Can you help me how I can turn off this logging?

Answered on support. Using old version of Kodo which does not
understand kodo.Log.
