Tuxedo Version Interoperability

I need to call Tuxedo services from an existing multithreaded application. In
looking at the Tuxedo documentation, it appears that Release 7.1 is the first
release that is threadsafe, so my application will need to use version 7.1. However,
the Tuxedo services I need to call are running in a release 6.5 environment.
The documentation for 7.1 states that a 7.1 Workstation client is interoperable
with pre 7.1 versions in the following situations.
1) The client is neither multithreaded or multicontexted.
2) The client is multicontexted.
3) The client is multithreaded and each thread is in a different context.
It then states that a 7.1 Workstation client with multiple threads in a single
context cannot interoperate with pre 7.1 Tuxedo.
Here is where I become confused. A multithreaded client must call tpinit with
the TPMULTICONTEXTS flag set. I understand this to mean that I'm a multicontexted
client, which according to reason # 2 means I'm interoperable with pre 7.1 servers.
However, a context is defined as a connection to a domain, and I'll only have
one connection with the server. Does this mean I'm running in single-context
mode, and since I'm a multithreaded app, I'm not interoperable with pre 7.1 servers?
Does anyone know if I can talk to 6.5 servers in this situation? Thanks in advance
for any replies.

Hello Curt,
I have written a multithreaded /WS client using Tuxedo 8.0 that calls a 6.5 server
application, so it's clearly doable... anyway, here's my $0.02 regarding this
subject:
First of all I think you should go for Tuxedo 8.x instead of 7.1.
Secondly, I think the point is not really which version you run on the server
but rather how you code your client. You simply need to keep track of your threads
and context[s] and make sure that no more than one thrad uses a certain context
at any one time. As long as you do that, I think you would do just fine.
Now what you MUST do in order to connect to an older (<7.1) server is to setup
the environment variable
WSINTOPPRE71=yes
on your client.
This has nothing to do with threading, it is due to the big changes in the security
model that was introduced in 7.1 (as opposed to earlier versions).
Hope this helps,
/Per

  • Plug-in version interoperability

Does anyone know or have reference to what versions of WLS IIS plug-in are interoperable with what versions of WLS? Specifically, I want to know if I can use a WLS IIS 8.1 sp4 plug-in to talk back to a WLS 5.1 sp10 server. Is there any matrix that depicts the plugin-to-WLS version interoperability?
    Thx,
    Rick

    Hi
You can always use the latest plugin file (ie .so file)
the latest is compatable to any Version

  • Tuxedo Version 8.0, 32-bit, Patch Level 331, Few servers always hang..

We use Tuxedo Version 8.0, 32-bit, Patch Level 331 middleware, which is connected to Kenan Billling. Recently, observed few servers like om_Customer & ck_GRS servers (specific to Kenan API's) gets always HANG specific to few Databases. Would like to know the root cause for this hang out issue. As a work around, currently, we bounce these specific servers as and when it get hang, resulting few message loss.
Request your help on this. And also, currently, low/high water mark (new server spawning) set as 1:30,3:20, planning to change to 1:60,3:10 for a better tuxedo server performance. Need your comments on this.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your response.
Firstly regarding server hang issue, we did monitor the ULOG while is the server is hang, but, could not find much info'n in ULOG as Tuxedo keep adding the new servers of the same as queue length is getting increased but none of teh requests are processed. Refer the below ULOG info. Is there any generic reasons as to why servers gets hang and steps to check and rectify? please advice.

  • Tuxedo version

    Hi
I want to know how can I find out whether the Tuxedo is 32-bit or 64-bit. Is there
anything like 32-bit / 64-bit tuxedo. Or it depends upon OS version.
I am using Tuxedo 8.1 on Solaris 8 (OS is 64-bit). Is there any command which
    can tell me about this.
Download is available separately for Solaris 8 (32-bit) and Solaris 8 (64-bit).
    -DV

As it is under unix, you can try command like
    file ${TUXDIR}/bin/tmadmin
It will give the information you required. Hope it helps.

http://commerce.bea.com/index.jsp is the home page for all BEA downloads.
You will need to have a support contract in order to download Tuxedo
    versions earlier than Tuxedo 8.1.

  • WebLogic Enterprise 5.1: Which version of Tuxedo included?

    Hi,
can you tell me, which version of Tuxedo is included in WebLogic Enterprise
    5.1?
    Thanks,
    Marita

    Marita,
My understanding is that it is a version of Tuxedo based on v6.5, but not
released in any form other than as the deployment engine for WLE 5.x
Tuxedo 8.0 (which includes the C++ CORBA support formerly only available as part
of the "WLE" product obviously shares a single Tuxedo kernel between ATMI and CORBA
Of course, as with all Tuxedo versions, the version underpining WLE 5.x will
interoperate with other supported versions, so the exact version shouldn't be a
    cause for concern.
    Regards,
    Peter.

  • Missing or invalid version of SQL library PSORA (200,0)

I am trying to configure App. Server on Vista laptop machine.
    The machine name is VRGhati03.
It is a logical 3 tier archtecture. Its a EPM 9.0 Install. My database (PFDMO) is all configured and I am able to signon using a User ID VP1 and password VP1. My connect id is people with password of peop1e.
    My access id is SYSADM.
I have created a user id in Oracle as VP1 and granted him the PSADMIN role .
When I try to boot up the App. Server it tells me ' Missing or invalid version of SQL Library PSORA' and 'Could not sign on to database PFDMO with user VP1'
The VP1 sign on works via SQLPLUS.
I also created a User Account of VP1 and tried to boot the appserver under that id but still no success.
I have gone thru some of the postings on this topic but they have not helped me. What am I doing wrong?
Below are the details of the log files, portion of my psappserv.cng file and the system environment variables.

  • How to resolve Tuxedo 6.5 error  getting on the new HP-Itanium server

    Hi guys,
We had tuxedo 6.5 installed on old server which is HP-PA Risc server and Os is HP-UX B11.11.
Where as we cloned and migrated that file systems related to Tuxedo to new server which is Configured with HP_Itanium and Os HP-Ux B11.23.
We freshly created Oracle instances with same naming conventions on Old server as Our server is HP-Itanium that oracle files created with .sh extensions.Where as in Old server they were created with .sl extension. While moving file systems from old server to new server we exclude the oracle part. But we moved the Pleopelsoft home location as it was on oldserver.
But when we try to start application server we are getting the below error

Please let us know the reason behind this and how we can resolve this issue.Your response would be highky appreciatied.

    Yarli

    Hi,
The processors are different archiectures and you can not use binaries from one architecture to work on the other.
Library name suffix differences is an example of the importance of this. Tuxedo 6.5 was separately built for each of those architectures and
is available on the PeopleSoft distribution as distinct binaries. If your migration was purely from HPUX11.11 to HPUX11.23 you might have
succeeded but the processor difference will not work for you and a core dump would not be unexpected.
    Bob Finan
    FYI:
Tuxedo 6.5 is end-of-lifed and, since it's EOL has passed the stage for extended support possibility, no new patches will
be created for it by engineering. You should look to migrate to a newer version of Tuxedo/Peoplesoft at the earliest
    possiblity.

you said3. I run the SQR by pressing the PS_HOME\bin\sqr\MSS\binw\sqrw.exe and I type in my report name, datasource, username and password then click ok then the command came out.
    >
What you didn't do was set the SQR arguments in the Report Arguments section. You need to supply the arguments as follow:
    -ZIF%PS_HOME%\sqr\pssqr.ini -i%PS_HOME%\sqr -fc:\temp\youroutput.htm -printer:ht -keep
You have to do this for each SQR you want to start.
To avoid typing these arguments every time, create a shortcut of sqrw.exe, on your desktop, or where ever your like and open the properties of the shortcut and change to command line to
    %PS_HOME%\bin\sqr\ORA\binw\sqrw.exe -ZIF%PS_HOME%\sqr\pssqr.ini -i%PS_HOME%\sqr -fc:\temp\youroutput.htm -printer:ht -keep
Now when you dubble click on the shortcut the arguments will be filled in automatically.
Change %PS_HOME% in above statements to your PS_HOME.
You can also read this in the installation manual in chapter Task 7A-21-1: Running SQRs on the Client Workstation

The CMDTUX_CAT:819 message usually means that the newly booted process died
before it was able to synchronize with tmboot.
In your configuration, you are able to execute tmboot but you cannot execute
any other Tuxedo process. You may want to verify the following:
    - Does the value of TUXDIR in your TUXCONFIG file match the directory in
your path for `whence tmboot`? If the TUXDIR in TUXCONFIG points to a
directory containing binaries for some other hardware architecture, then it
would be logical for all of the binaries to be unable to run.
    - Is your operating system version a version that has been certified by BEA?
    - Verify the executable file type of the binaries using "file
$TUXDIR/bin/BBL". Does the 32-bit/64-bit setting match what you expect, and
are the binaries for the OS that you expect?
    - Is there any outstanding shared memory on the system with the IPCKEY
specified in $TUXCONFIG? Tuxedo will detect most such errors by examining a
magic value, but it's possible that the magic value might accidentally match
while the rest of the shared memory is of the wrong format.
I hope this is of help.

    Sitthisak C.

Errors and crashes in multithreaded programs can be very hard to debug.
Sometimes a problem occurs every time a particular piced of code is
executed, and other times the problem is timing dependent. Sometimes the
problem is located in the module where the failure occurs, and other times
the problem is due to memory corruption in a different thread. You may want
to try executing your program with a memory analyzer such as Purify to see
if there are any references to unallocated memory that could be causing
corruption. Also, if you are not running a recent patch of 8.1, you may
want to upgrade to the latest patch to see if that fixes the problem.
(However, I don't know of any specific problems in this area for release
8.1.) If the above suggestions don't work, then you should open a support
    case.

    Hi Everyone,
Need your assistance. Perhaps someone of you encountered this already. I have completed setting up everything until the application server part. • Missing or invalid version of SQL Library PSORA with 8.50

Although unsupported, I am trying to get a HCM 9.1 on PT 8.50.05 running on a 64 bit Windows 7 Pro laptop. Running 11.1.0.7 Windows 2008 64 bit Oracle. I installed the 32 bit Oracle 11.1.0.7 client for Win2008 also.
Every thing seems OK until I try to start an App Server domain. I can login two-tier via PS. I can connect sqlplus with SYSADM and people. I ran the VERSION AE process without incident. Datamover runs fine with PS and bootstrap.
When I try to boot my domain, I get the "Missing or invalid version of SQL library PSORA (200,0)" error. In stderr file it notes "LoadLibraryA() in pscompat.dll failed for 'PSORA.dll': reason=126".
I have the path to my 32bit client files within the app servers' AddtoPath setting. I even tried using the UseLocalOracleDB settings but that didn't help either.
Any of you smart folks have any suggestions (aside from using a Supported OS and calling Oracle support)?

I set the app server log fence to 5 and it still doesn't provide any real insight. Sorry if this i little long:

  • What needs to be prepare for running Tuxedo in AS400

    Greetings all,
I want to run Tuxedo on AS400. The operating system is V5R3. My questions are :
    - what is the latest Tuxedo version for AS400?
    - how to get installation guide in AS400?
    - based on your experienced, how stable is the system running on AS400?
    - currently I already have a Tuxedo application running on Sun machine. I am using Tuxedo version 8.0
How difficult is the setting in AS400 comparing to Sun machine ?
    Thanks.

We are currently planning on certifying the Tux 6.5 OS400 V5R1 binaries onto V5R3 by May 2005 (they have already been certified on R2). OS400 support is not currently available on Tux 8.x.
You can co-mingle earlier versions of Tuxedo (e.g. 6.5) with Tux 8.0 (as long as Tux 8.0 is the master domain). Tux 6.5 clients are also fully supported wit Tux 8.x.
OS400 release is very stable and was first introduced in 1999. if you need more specifics on patch levels or number of patch issues in the last few years, please ping me directly at [email protected]
Here is the URL (to PDF, HTML also available) to Tux 6.5 eDoc, which has an entire guide on OS400 and the installation process should be very straightforward (note you’ll need 6.5 license key, 8.0 keys will not work)
