Two bugs when trying to mail events

Bug #1: When I right click on an event and choose "Mail Event", the mailed event attachment (.ics file) has no time information in it, which means that it is completely useless to anyone. This happens for any events I create in iCal.
If I open the .ics file in a text editor, this is all it contains:
BEGIN:VCALENDAR
*X-WR-CALNAME:ASMGCS My Meeting*
*PRODID:-//Apple Inc.//iCal 3.0//EN*
CALSCALE:GREGORIAN
VERSION:2.0
METHOD:PUBLISH
END:VCALENDAR
Bug #2: Also when mailing an event, the email body message reads: "(null) informs you of the event: My Meeting, scheduled for 21 April 2008 at 08:00. To add it to your calendar, click the link below".
Why does it start with "(null)" instead of my name (or at least something appropriate) and why is there no line break before the attachment. The attachment icon immediately follows the message, without even a space, which looks really ugly.
Are these actually bugs, or have I got some settings wrong somewhere (in which case, I'll get ready to eat some humble pie)?

Bernard Harte wrote:
#1 May be a bug as mine works as expected.
#2 The null may be because you don't have your card selected in Address Book: select it and choose Make this My Card from the Card menu. The attachment icon is where you describe it to be. If you don't like it, the only option would be to send feedback to Apple. Actually, this is not quite true: there is likely a way of altering the AppleScript that iCal is using to control Mail, but this would get overwritten each time iCal was updated and is probably not worth messing around with.
See if my suggestion to #2 works. If it does, but the .ics still doesn't contain full data there are some further steps that I can suggest.
Wow. As soon as I read your reply, I knew it was going to fix bug (or rather, issue) #2, but in fact it solved the whole thing! I just switched to a new iMac recently and had never spotted that I hadn't set a "My Card" in Addressbook.
Thanks!

  • Memory error when trying to fetch events by data range

I keep getting the following memory error when trying to fetch events from my calendar server: CAPI_STAT_SERVICE_MEM_ALLOC
I have checked the forum and found only one entry that talks about adjusting the -mx -oss settings for my JVM. However it is unclear if this change needs to be done to the server or the client where I am running the JVM. I have made these adjustments in my JDeveloper project and I still recive the error. I have checked the eng.log, cws.log and snc.log. The only entries found are:
    DATE = Thu Jun 2 16:53:24 2005
    PID = 12647; TID = 3076395840
    Trying to connect: Host = houoas2.us.oracle.com (127.0.0.1)

    Connection established: Host = houoas2.us.oracle.com (127.0.0.1)

This is being done on a 10g calendar server. Any help would be appricated.

Now that 10g and its associated CSDK are out and the 9.0.4.x CSDK is presumably frozen, would it be possible to make the 9.0.4.10 CSDKs - for each platform - available for downloading, unbundled from the massive server suite?

Here is the solution for anyone else having similar issue:
Go to your Finder: Your User Account>Library>Internet Plug Ins folder. If you see JavaPluginCocoa there, move it to the trash, then restart Safari.
If there is no such plugin in that folder, reinstall the Java update using this download. In the event Safari is stable only for a short time preventing you from downloading the file again, first, go to Safari Preferences>Security and uncheck the Java option. Then try the download. After the install, restart Safari, go back to the Security Panel and select Java again.

  • Bug when seeking in "ready"-event?

    Hello everyone!
I can't browse the bug-database at http://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/ST, it seems offline right now.
I've stumbled across a small bug: When I want to start playback of a video at a certain position, I'm putting a setCurrentTime()-call in the mediaPlayerStateChange-callback when the "ready"-event is received.
This works fine, however then the seeked position is position 0 in the video, which means that getCurrentTime() reports 0 and
setCurrentTime(0) doesn't seek to the beginnig of the file but to the position seeked to in the ready event.
Maybe this a feature, but it's very unexpected behaviour.
I can seek in the "playing"-event, but then unnecessary data is buffered.
    Thanks

I've encountered the same problem as I had to develop a 'seekTo' feature in our custom implementation of Strobe.
You can't seek until play is fired. By then, it's too late to jump to time and it looks clonky, plays the 0 position and jumps to the desired spot.
The fact is that seek is ignored if "mediaPlayer.canSeek" is false. It becomes true when the media gains seek trait...
Now that I think about it, maybe calling "load()" on the load trait prior to calling seek on the player would do that (that's if there's no error on the media load).
In essence, you want to get the media to connect to the stream manually by calling load on the load trait. I figure that would work, but haven't tried yet...

  • TS1307 "The email server didn't recognize your username/password combination". This message pops up when trying to mail photos from iPhoto. How do I fix it?

"The email server didn’t recognize your username/password combination." This message pops up when trying to send photos from iPhoto via Mail. I have tried reseting passowrds in both gmail and me.com

Thanks for helping Christeneau.  You helped me too...eventually.  I say eventually because I was puzzled by your 'What does it say behind "email photo's using"'?
I realised the problem was your incorrect use of the apostrophe 's', as in 'photo's using'.
I just could not make any sense of this sentence at all, until I realised that you meant to write, "What does it say behind "email photos using".  What you employed was the possesive use of the apostrophe - a mistake that seems to have become endemic in english speaking nations during the last 10 years or so, brought on by the lack of understanding basic english grammar.  This has come about because of sloppy teaching methods the world over - it's not really your fault.
It's quite simple: The apostrophe 's' should be used as the following examples show:
James's apple, the car's horn, the world's atmosphere. The one exception is 'its shape,' where there is no apostrophe showing posession because that construction has been used as an abbreviation to 'it is', as in 'it's'.
Plurals (more then one) NEVER have an apostrophe!  E.g. CDs, eggs, biscuits, vehicles, UNLESS to show possesion - a CD's label, the biscuit's taste, a vehicle's colour.
    Thanks again for you help.

  • I've got TWO problems when trying to run iTunes

I've been trying to solve them separately, but each one of the answers requires for the other problem to be solved, and I am desperate. I've recently (one week ago) bought an iPad mini and I regret buying it, since I can't sync it to my computer. I don't even know what to do anymore, and its been TWO WEEKS of constantly trying.
The problem started when I tried updating iTunes as usual via the Apple updater. Somehow it gave me an error message, so I did as told by the program and downloaded it manually. After that, I got an R6034 error. Following a thread's advice, I uninstalled every Apple-related program in my computer, even did some cleaning-up, just in case. I reinstalled it, and when I thought I was done, an error popped up claiming that I don't have sufficient privileges to start system services, so Apple Mobile Device failed to start. I tried to fix this, but the R6034 error keeps popping up EVERY time I try to install or even RUN iTunes.
What should I do? All my music is in this computer, and I am even thinking about asking for a refund on my iPad and iPod. iTunes has never given me trouble and I've been using it for at least 5 years, but this problem is big enough to make me reconsider whether or not use it.

I reinstalled it, and when I thought I was done, an error popped up claiming that I don't have sufficient privileges to start system services, so Apple Mobile Device failed to start. I tried to fix this, but the R6034 error keeps popping up EVERY time I try to install or even RUN iTunes.
Doublechecking. Have you worked through the following user tip?

  • HT4740 How can I avoid or solve the problem of Final Cut Pro crashes when trying to Show Events Library?

When I try to Show Events Library in Final Cut Pro, it crashes each time. Please tell me how do I work around this problem?

Try creating a new (temporary) folder and putting all your events in there - then launch FCP X.
If you can open the Browser, then it's possible one or more of the clips in one of your events is corrupt. Close the app and move the events back into their original places one by one (re-starting FCP X each time). This will help you find the event which has the corrupt file in it.
If isolating the events has no effect, I suggest you trash your preferences.
Unexplained faults like this can often be fixed by clearing out FCP X's preferences (for some reason, they get knotted up from time to time).
Download Digital Rebellion's Preference Manager (free, simple to use, and perfectly safe, both to download and use).
    http://www.digitalrebellion.com/prefman/
With Preference Manager, you can backup the Prefs when FCP X (or any of the Apple Professional Applications) are working normally. Then when either of the applications are acting strangely, Trash the Preferences, then Restore from your backups (just a mouse-click).
If you trash the prefs and don't restore them, you will need to manually restore all your FCP X settings again, so it's a great idea to backup Preferences from time to time when FCP X is working well, then your backups are up to date.
Doesn't fix every problem, but it fixes a lot.

  • Pinwheel Bug when trying to "Create"

I've tested on two computers. An 08 Mac Pro and an early 08 MacBook Pro both running 10.6.4. I noticed that sometimes (not always) especially after using iPhoto, exiting, iPhoto does a DB upgrade, then relaunching iPhoto, that choosing Create | Book or Card that there is a long load time with the pinwheel. The Mac Pro takes about 30 seconds to load the create a book, but the MBP takes about 2 minutes to load completely, the entire time sitting with a pinwheel.
Has anyone seen this behavior? I was going to reinstall, but two Macs are doing it. Thanks.
    Message was edited by: theBigD23

No one has seen this? I was actually using the new MacBook Airs in the store and the exact same thing happened. It's 100% a bug. I've seen the same exact thing on three different systems.

but if I press roll back for example and go to form the contains the table and come back to add or edit a record the page works correctly with no problem.

When I create a PO - I go into messages and get the error 'Archiving format not equal to PDF.' - message number SSFCOMPOSER 017.
Any ideas why this isn't working?
    Thanks

    3. Go to OAC3 and assign object type bus2012 to ur document type. Give the content repository which u r using save it
