Two clusters on same machine using well know addresses - is it possible?
Hi,
I try to setup two clusters (each with two nodes) on the same machine and want to use WKA for both of them. For the first one I do not have problems and it starts normaly.
When I try to start a node from the second cluster I get this message :

I have configured the "java.property.tangosol.coherence.wka.port" and "java.property.tangosol.coherence.wka1.port" to different values for the second cluster than the values of the first.
Fist of all is such setup possible?
Any idea why I get this error and what else I need to change in the configuration for the second cluster?
greetings Georgi
Hi,
Now it works for me. I think I was setting the WKA on too many places as the documention of the application I have is a little bit confusing.
First I have posted the WKA with java.property as it was specified in the documentation of my application to set them in the script that starts it. I have removed them from the script and used only the xml file to configure coherence.
I am not using the override file but rather change the WKA configuration in the jar file itself. For the real enviornment and not my laptop I will use it.
Also there were two coherence.jar files in my class path and the first one was common for the both clusters and the second one was different for each cluster. In this second one I was changeing tangosol-coherence.xml the logs were showing that the configuration loaded from and also in the classpath this second was before the other one . Maybe I was wrong so I have removed the first coherence.jar that was common.
Maybe the combination of those two things were the problem but now it works. Thanks for your comments.
greetings Georgi

I want to create two database in same machine. I searched in google but no use.
Is it possible in oracle 9i r2?
If so,Anybody please help on that.jey84 wrote:
I want to create two database in same machine. You can have a 100 Oracle databases on the same machine. The issue though is why?
Why do you want to duplicate database overheads? Why two sets of system and process monitoring processes? Log writers? Database writers? Etc.
Why two SGAs? Why two system tablespaces? Two temp tablespaces, undo tablespaces? Two sets of redo logs? Etc.
You now have two database footprints. Instead of a single large SGA with properly sized buffer cache, shared pool, large pool and so on - you know have two smaller SGAs and smaller caches and pools that are now less capable and less scalable.
Why would you want to do this?
There are no sound technical reasons for running multiple database instances on a server - unless it is something like a 32 CPU/multicore server with 256 GBs of memory. But then why not use this as a cloud-type server on which you can run multiple server VMs? One VM for each database, as that provides more flexibility than multiple databases on a single server(physical or VM)?
In today's world of cluster and cloud computing, running 2 databases instances on the same server does not make much sense. And needs to be backed up by reason and logic that justify such an approach. -

Can we have two clusters in same domain running different versions of WLS
I have not tested this yet but was looking for help from people who might have done this already.. Is it possible to have this scenario:
create two independent clusters, say C1 and C2 as part of a single domain D. C1 has 2 managed servers running WLS8.1 and C2 has 2 managed servers running WLS7.0
Can this be done?
Thanks,
RaghuIt is definetely inviting for trouble.
We can have two clusters from same version of weblogic server within a domain.
If we have a WLS8.1 domain, the managed servers that we create from that domain should be from WLS8.1.
As far I remember, its not a supported configuration to have different versions(major versions) of Admin and managed servers.

UnknownHostException when using well-known-addresses prevents startup
We found an issue that seems like a bug in Coherence.
We are using well-known-addresses instead of multicast server discovery. Everything worked great, until one of the servers that used to be in the list was removed from DNS. We are no longer able to start the grid. The exception is
Error while starting cluster: (Wrapped: Invalid configuratio
n element: <socket-address id='1'>
<address>SERVER1</address>
<port>9999</port>
</socket-address>) java.net.UnknownHostException: SERVER1

ssProvider.java:50)
at com.tangosol.net.ConfigurableAddressProvider.createAddressProvider(Co
nfigurableAddressProvider.java:227)
We have other hosts in the list that are still available. My understanding, is that as long as one host is available, we should be able to start the grid. If Server1 is not available in DNS, Server2, Server3, and Server4 should still be able to start.This issue has been resolved in 3.5.1.
Thanks,

Edited by: MattS on Mar 16, 2011 11:26 AM - added version infoHi Matt,
I think, you may need to use a different multicast port, too.
Also, verify that you are not overriding the different settings with the same Java property override value.

Several Clusters on Same Machines -- Efficiently?
We want to run several clusters on the same machines. We are not
doing this to gain efficiency, since that will obviously suffer. But
we would like this to be as efficient as possible.
Briefly, this is the rationale for this setup. Each development group
would have its own "application cluster" to run servlets, JSPs and
EJBs. Queries to a legacy entitlements database through a stateless
session EJB called EntitleBean determine if the user login (basic HTTP
authentication) is enabled for the requested functionality. By
running the EntitleBean in a separate "entitlements cluster," we can
limit the number of connection pools to the entitlements database.
Suppose our bank of WebLogic servers has M machines, and N application
clusters run on those machines. Running the EntitleBean in each
application cluster will require M*N connection pools. A separate
entitlements cluster will require only M connection pools.
Question: Can we get something similar to "collocation" optimization?
I realize that we can't get the equivalence of a method call, and that
we'll require serialization. Can we avoid a network hit? We would
like to use a "shortest path" algorithm instead of round-robin, so
that replica-aware remote stubs would attempt to keep a method call on
the same machine, although in a different cluster.
Thanks for any advise,
David Crane

Multiple users on the same machine using a common iTunes Library
I'm running iTunes from my user profile in Vista, the songs are stores in a shared directory.
My wife recently purchased an iPhone, so I decided to setup her phone under her user profile in Vista, so she could use her contacts out of outlook, this meant I had to setup iTunes for her. All the outlook contacts sync with her phone (no issues), but when I point the music library to the directory where I stored the music I can't see the library.
I have searched under my user name and found the iTunes library.itl, this file in my user directory, not accessible when I wife is logged into her account.
Is there any way to have different user profiles on the same machine access the same music library in iTunes. So when I purchase music under my account and download it to the library, my wife's iTunes will also see the music, I'm okay if I have to do a manual sync, under her iTunes..Move the \Music\iTunes\ folder to a Shared directory.
Hold Shift and launch iTunes.
Select *Choose library* and select the _iTunes library.itl_ file in the \iTunes\ folder in the Shared directory.
Quit iTunes then let yoru wife log in and hold Shift and launch iTunes.
Select *Choose library* and select the _iTunes library.itl_ file in the \iTunes\ folder in the Shared directory. -
How to map sid's of two session on same machine ??
1. If sql sessions are opened on same machine and same process is running on
both the sessions, is there a way to map out sid's and serial#'s from v$session for both the sessions?.
2. If a stored procedure is running, is there any why to tell that this particular session is currently running a stored procedure.
Thanks for your help,Hello gautam,
question one..doesn't make sense...however if you want to know the sid' serial#'s for the particular session..that can be accomplished..
and for question 2 ..yes it is possible..
it will tell you what it is running...which is "QUERY" (stored_procedure, select, update..etc)
good luck

When I try to install a plugin in any browser on my Mac Mini or my MacBook Pro, I get a "Can't find Internet Plug-Ins folder" message. Other friends with the same machines can install the plugin just fine. We can't find any reason why the plugin won't install on mine. Any ideas out there?
Thanks,Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

Does the dialog show "You can only read" in the Sharing & Permissions section?
In the General section, is the box labeled Locked checked?
What is the Modified date?

Can not run two domains on same machine (JVM).
Hi every body in news group,
I have a problem with weblogic 6.x, I am trying to run multiple domains e.g examples,
mydomain, mydomain1 on the same machine (JVM) at the same time, but I can not
run all three at same time, I changed ports already on all domains, and every
one has different ports, e.g 7001, 7002, 7003, but still when one domain is running,
and I try to run other startup file by command prompt, it says, can not initialize
JVM, can some one help me to understand, why I can not run different domains at
one time, according to my knowledge, we can run multiple domains on one JVM, by
giving them differnt ports. I will appreciate your help, looking forward to your
response, thanks in advance.
Cheers!

Two users on same machine working on same iWeb site
Hi
We have two users on our new iMac because some things we want to keep separate. But we both want to work on our iWeb site when we feel like it, from our own account.
I copied the domains file into Users\Shared and it appeared we could both work on it from there. But then I found that each blog entry becomes only partially editable by the other user. iWeb doesn't complain when I save, but it isn't actually saving the changes to blog entries that were started by the other user.
Can anyone please help tell me how two users are supposed to work on the same iWeb blog? Thank you!I would also like to know the answer to this.
Thanks! -

pedroHi again,
You can use two listeners.... but then you need to use 2 TCP ports. Not really usefull.
You only need one listener for both ORACLE_HOMEs. It's advisable to use the one from the latest release (i.e. 8i).
Using only one listener is afaik the good way to set things up.

Two Beans of same Class - using in JSP with same name
Hi, all:
I want to do something like this:
<jsp:useBean id="entryBean" scope="session" class="myPackage.myClass"/>
<% if (entryBean.getUserRole().equals("Administrator)) { %>
<jsp:useBean id="adminBean" scope="session" class="myPackage.UserBean"/>
<% } else { %>
<jsp:useBean id="userBean" scope="session" class="myPackage.UserBean"/>
<% } %>
This, of course, works. But the problem comes when calling the methods. Usually I would use
<%= userBean.getName() %> - but in this case I don't know whether the bean I have is userBean or adminBean, and there doesn't seem to be a way to call them something other than their id in the session, so that I could get a variable name assigned to both, so I can just refer to a single object.
Any ideas?
Thanks, I appreciate any input.You'd probably have to have another "fake" bean that references the bean you're using:
<jsp:useBean id="entryBean" scope="session" class="myPackage.myClass"/>
<%
UserBean proxyBean;
if (entryBean.getUserRole().equals("Administrator"))
%>
<jsp:useBean id="adminBean" scope="session" class="myPackage.UserBean"/>
<%
proxyBean = adminBean;
else
%>
<jsp:useBean id="userBean" scope="session" class="myPackage.UserBean"/>
<%
proxyBean = userBean;
%>
Name: <%= proxyBean.getName() %><br/>No doubt someone's gonna grumble about it not really being a proxy but I couldn't think of another name for it.
Anyway, hopefully the idea here is clear.
Hope this helps.
