Two Companies, One Server

Hi All,
I have taken the plunge of upgrading an older SL Server to a new mini server. The company in question now has a new arm and services probably need to be split.
The plan I had was to have different DNS entries for company A and company B (with web/mail/apps ect). We have just added a new voip network with a large number of phones so I will end up getting a new managed switch. The idea was to initially use the internal NIC to serve both vlans (say vlan10-companyA and vlan20-companyB) with different dhcp/dns so that there was some physical seperation and then set up all the internal workgroups/services to suite. Obviously, the switchports would all be configured to be members of that vlan, so it should all just work.
I know that the two sharing the same nic isn't the best method in terms of performance, but initially, companyB will be working with pretty small file sizes and network needs. If it all became too much, I could quite happily add a thunderbolt nic down the track.
Does anybody see this as being a major problem/wrong way to do things? How else would you acheive it, is there a better way? I haven't used lion server before so i'm assuming there might be a bit of fooling around to get the multiple dns/mail/web stuff working. Any pointers? I've seen how to add the vlans under the network dialouge for the selected NIC but don't know anything after that.

Two companies, one Exchange Server

We are an organisation with a single Exchange 2010 server.
All our addresses are currently @aaa.co.uk.
We have now acquired another company (bbb.co.,uk) and would like some of our users to have the ability top receive email from both domains and to be able to send from either @aaa.co.uk or @bbb.co.uk.
It would be advantageous to have the emails kept separate which may suggest these users having a mailbox for each company.
We have all our mail coming in via an ISP, who host our MX records, so I assume we just get them to host the MX records for bbb.co.uk also.
We do not have an Edge Transport server role.
Where do I go from there?
Am I right in thinking we need to create an Accepted Domain for bbb.co.uk then create separate mailboxes?
Well explained guidance would be much appreciated.

Two Networks, One Server

I have one Windows 2003 server with two NICs, one on the internal Lan the the other to run our Public Wireless Network.
On our internal LAN the IP is 192.168.10.#. That Lan can access the Internet through its own gateway.
I have a virtual server running on the same server using a NIC with an IP of 192.168.103.#. It also can access the Internet through its own gateway.
Previously, I had the wireless running on a seperate Linux Box and I could NOT access the internal LAN. Unfortunately, since I moved that to the Windows server I can access the Internal Lan using Remote Desktops etc...
I do have a 5510 ASA device that both networks go through.
How can I block the wireless network from accessing the internal lan? I do need the internal Lan to be able to access the wireless Lan (Which it now can do).

1. Windows Server with 2 NICS
    A. NIC 1 with IP of 192.168.10.### VLAN for Internal Network
    B. NIC 2 with IP of 192.168.103.5 connects to the 192.168.103.0 VLAN (Wireless)
2. VMWARE's Virtual Server runs on the Windows 2003 Box and Host Linux Proxy Server with an IP of 192.168.103.8
     All wireless nodes use the proxy address of 192.168.103.8 to access the Internet.
Problem: Laptops connected to the wireless 192.168.103.0 network can Access the 192.168.10.0 network. I need the Laptops isolated from the 192.168.10.0 network.
Observation: When the Proxy Server was running on it's own box, wireless nodes could not access the 192.168.10.0 Vlan.

One server for two independ customer installations

Dear all,
I've one server and want to install two different SBO installations for two different
companies that are not related between them.
I'm going to create two SQL instance so DBs are in differente scope, and with license manager I could administrate two different license file..
Is it possible?

Hi Sachin,
you're right with two different VM you can manage that, but this is similar to have two different server. My goal is to use only a server (phisical or virtual)... I think with 8.8 version we can do it, but I glad if someone has some experience of this scenario..

How to install two instance on one server

Dear Guru,
I want to install two instance on one server.
I have installed IDES server ( win 2k3 64 bit with SQL 2005 ECC 6.0)
Drive is
c: 20 GB for os
d: 5 gb swap
e: 5 gb swap
f: 450 GB database.
The same server i want to installed SOLMAN 4.0 with sql 2005.
Please suggest me how to installed without affcting IDES server.

You only have to consider 2 things :
1. SAPTRANSHOST entry in hosts file will be the same for both systems
this mean that both systems will share the same transport directory

This is not true. Your SAPTRANSHOST will remain the same, but you can (and should) specify independent trans directories with the DIR_TRANS and and EPS profile parameters to designate where the instance trans files should be located (i.e. /usr/sap/trans_SID). I recommend you make this change in the existing host first, and then clear out the trans directory. Let the 2nd instance install into it and then alter that one too (thereby moving the files to the new /usr/sap/trans_SID2).

Two different DB version in one server machine, help please

Hello, greetings.
I have two databases in one server.
One is 10g1 version, currently running. another one I just installed is 10g2 version. They each has it's own home. I mean two versions sit in separate oracle home. They both in window.
However, through sqlplus, toad etc, I can only access 10g1.
How can I access both versions through sqlplus and toad? What do I need to set up ?

The listener.ora configures the piece that listens on the network. Each database must register to the listener. You only need one listener on the machine and each database should register to that listener. To check, run the command line 'lsnrctl status'
In your control panel, set the listener for 19gR1 to start manually (and then never start it)
The tnsnames.ora configures the client. Basically it says 'when yoohoo asks to connect to database blah, that means connect to host boing, talk to the listener on port whatever (usually 1521) and ask for a connection to database service bingo' as in

)Nearly 100% of the time, the two tnsnames.ora files, one in each ORACLE_HOME, do not contain all the information needed. So when you use the sqlplus from one Oracle Home and try to connect to the other database, you are missing critical pieces of information that are found only in the other ORACLE_HOME
The fix - as others say, is to run netca or netmgr (both available from START menu). Or simply open both tnsnames.ora files and make the match up by adding whatever entries are needed.

Isolate 2 companies on one server

Hi All
I want to isolate 2 companies on one server.
Please advice if that is possible in SBO.
I have tried using system landscape directory but could not found the solution.It creates database user but where does it ask during installation or login?

Hi,
In the System Landscape Directory, select a company (or a server? I'm not sure here because I currently has no application), choose the Edit button, and you'll see three options ( for some old PLs, there should onlyd be 2 options). The 2nd one uses a database user per company, which I suppose is what you're looking for.
if it's by editing a company, you need to apply the option for each company one by one.
If you don't want to use sa, you can also edit the server to use another database user, this user is by default for all companies on this server. That is, the first option you'll see.

If only the language is Hebrew, you should correct it in the Paragraph and Character Styles.
But in such a case I would expect more problems.
If you are a creative cloud subscriber you should additionally install the InDesign version, English with Hebrew support:
Go to the preferences of you CC.app. It is found behind the Gear Symbols on the top right.
When the preferences open, go to the Apps section.
Change the App Language to English with Hebrew support.
Now you can install it. It will install on the very same place where your InDesign program is found some additional plugins, which will give you access to Hebrew functionality, like RTL text. Otherwise you will inherit in the document (and where you copy and paste it from such a document into another one). But now you can change or repair problems.
Now repeatstep 1 + 2, but you need not to install your own language again. InDesign will now, when started, run in the language of your OS (when you have it installed in that language) but with more functionality to handle problems with Hebrew documents.
The same steps you would have to do with Arabic or Asian documents. These languages will also add more plugins. But keep it limitted to those language you need. I have installed it that way, because I get sometime documen where the text flows the wrong direction or the numbers come up in Farsi digit, not in Arabic digits. For such purposes I need versions in languages I don’t understand myself.

Moving a Company from one server to another server

I have gone through all the SBO SDN Threads (related to SBO-Common) to know the role of SBO-Common data base in SAP B1, but the following case is still not clear to me. Please help.
Suppose I have two SBO servers (of same settings) as follows u2013
Server1:
Database                Company

SAP_Abc_Co          Abc Co.
Server2:

SAP_Xyz_Co          Xyz Co.
Now I want to transfer the above said Xyz Co (database-SAP_Xyz_Co) from Server2 to the Server1 (keeping all other companies in Sever1 intact). How to do it?

SBO-Common, also acts as the license server.
To transfer a company from one server to another you can do like Steffen said.
You don't need to backup SBO-Common.

Send E-Mail over two different Mail Server ?

I successfully configured E-Mail in HTML DB according to the How-To "Send E-Mail from HTML DB Applications".
There's one point in our environment that is a little bit special. The HTML DB application should work for two companies. So it works for company A because every message is sent to the corresponding Mail Server. Of course messages to company B are rejected because the Mail Server of company A is not configured to accept these messages ( relaying denied... ). Is this a Mail Server administration issue or is there a possibility to implement an if then else functionality for Mail Server in HTML DB ?

htmldb_mail supports a single mail server per htmldb instance. if you want to call different mail servers, consider sending the emails via your own calls to utl_smtp. there's a pretty simple example of that code at...

I would like to have 2 seperate sites on one server

Hi to all,
I am a graphic designer who sometimes uses iweb to create very simple sites, which have worked in the past.
I have a friend who is opening a restaurant and I want to help out by creating a web site for her in iweb.
She already has one "site" for her photography, which is a page that says under contruction on her FTP which is contained the index.html file that appears in the web file on the FTP. If I publish the restaurant site to her FTP it replaces this existing photography site's index.html file and her photography site is lost . Is it possible (and how??) to have 2 index.html files on the FTP so that 2 sites can exist together?
I really hope someone can help with this...

Assuming just one server domain, the sites can co-exist because each is in its own folder, but you can only have one index.html file at root level. This file redirect to the site which is at the top of the list if you have two sites in the same iWeb, or to the site which updated last if you are using separate computers.
The point of an index.html file is that you don't have to state it - if you have one at fred.com/index.html then just fred.com will bring it up.
So: supposing you have two sites at fred.com, one called jim and the other called mary. Each lives in its own folder, so their respective URLs are fred.com/jim and fred.com/mary (iWeb sets things so that those URLs bounce you on to Welcome.html or Home.html or whatever your starting page is called).
Whichever way you work it, those URLs will be stable. However, if you are each uploading from separate computers, just fred.com will lead to whichever site was updated last. The only workarounds are manually to remove the index.html file at root level and stick with the longer URL in each case: or for the second site to keep a copy of the first site's index.html file and manually replace it at root level after each time they've uploaded.
In the event that your server supports subdomains, Ethmoid's suggestion is neater.

Running APEX 3.1.2 and 4.0.2 on one server

We currently have a Solaris server running an Oracle 10g R2 DB with APEX 3.1.2 installed. Oracle Application Server 10g (Apache) is used as HTTP server. This server is used for development and UAT.
We want to upgrade to APEX 4.0.2. and first want to test this and then gradually upgrade our existing APEX applications. This means we need to run both APEX versions is parallel for a while. We created a copy of the development database, since you cannot have two different APEX versions in one database. But, out problem is the images directory that is used by APEX 3 and 4 in combination with the OAS MT. According to the installation/upgrade instructions you need to rename the existing APEX 3 images to be able to revert back to APEX 3, but that would mean our APEX 3 environments will stop working. We need to be able to run both APEX versions for a while on one server using one OAS MT.
How can this be achieved without having to install another OAS MT with it's own images directory?

Hi,
you could create a second directory on the server and a matching alias in the dads.conf file and name it /i402/ (instead of the old /i/).
Then you install APEX 4.0.2 and specify /i402/ as image directory name when calling the installation script. If you already installed APEX 4 you can use a script named reset_image_prefix.sql to change the images directory used by the APEX Builder Applications.
For your created Applications simply set the image directory prefix in the Application Definition Page to /i402/ and you are good to go.
