Two iPad/Match Playlist Issues

I am having a number of problems with Match, iTunes and my iPad.
For starters, I have iTunes and Match running on 3 computers (a Macbook Pro, a Macbook and a Mac Mini).  I also use Match with my music on an iPhone 4 and an iPad 2.
My iPhone music is fine.
On my iPad, however, there are a couple of issues.
1) Smart playlists, such as 100 Most Listened to Songs, and 50 Most Recent Purchases have thousands of songs in them, not the 100 or 50 that they should.  Those playlists are correct on all other computers and my iPhone
2) Regular playlists have only a fraction of the songs that they should, and they appear to be changing the playlists on the other machines.  For example, a playlist that was created with 15 songs in it, and had 15 songs on all machines, only had 4 songs on the iPad (and this IS with All songs shown, taking into account they may or may not have been downloaded to the device).  And then, after I saw there were only 4 songs in the iPad playlist, I looked again at the other devices and those playlists were changed to only have 4 songs too.  The changes happened AFTER I looked at the playlists on the iPad.
All of my devices are running the latest versions on iTunes, OS 10 and iOS.
I know these are similar to some of the other Match/Playlist issues, but there are a few differences too.
Any ideas?

For #1 - on your computer, right-click (or control-click) one of the songs that this is affecting, then choose "Get Info". Look on the "Info" tab. Is the "Part of a compilation" item checked? If it is, that will change how the song is categorized so it won't appear under the artist name. I've found that sometimes this is checked even on things like "Best of..." albums where the artist is always the same.
For #2, do the same thing, but this time look for any weird characters in the info - like maybe somehow a letter got entered into the "year" field, or you might see empty squares in the name field. Fix anything that looks odd, then sync again or update iTunes match, and see if you can open that artist on the ipad again.

  • Apple TV ( 2&3) - iTunes Match playlist issue

After the latest firmware update none of my ATVs (3 of, 2 ATV2 and 1 ATV3) allow my ITunes Match playlists to be selected using either the ATV remote or iPhone Remote App. When playlists are selected the ATV appears to reset (white LED flashes and connection to iPhone dropped). It is however possible to access playlists successfully using the iPad Remote App??? This ***** as I have my music library stored in the cloud and regularly played music via the ATVs, my son had some of his own playlists which he now gets upset he can't access. Come on Apple sort this out , your loyal customers are getting frustrated by your one step forward & another step back software upgrade program.

Thanks for the advice on how to contact apple.....they don't make it easy!!!!!
However you are incorrect, other people have had this problem, search in iTunes- iTunes Match- discussions for "ITunes crashes when loading playlists on Apple TV".
Interestingly my ATV had an update tonight ( looks like a roll back to me) as the crashing problem has cleared but the previous issue I was having ( and had not reported yet) has reoccurred. The problem is that I have many playlists in ITunes and subsequently in Match however my ATV only shows the first 24 - again frustrating and similarly you can access all the playlists if you connect with iPad remote App but not with the iPhone remote app??

  • Mac/iPad Match Sync Issue

My Mac and iPad OS/iOS are up to date. I've run Match several times so I presume it is up to date. However, I cannot get my iTunes libary to properly sync on my iPad. I have edited and added playlists that will not show up on iPad.

    My OS is actually 10.10.2.

  • Two IPAD 2s with same IMEI # - horrible customer support to resolve issue

A week ago my boyfriend discovered that Verizon had disconnected service to the iPAD 2 I gave him from his account 7 months ago but continued to charge him $11.21 per month for the phone line on a non-existent device.  To date I have spoken with more Verizon employees I can count on two hands, been passed back and forth between customer care and the fraud prevention department repeatedly, had to recount this entire story each and every time as well as provide passwords, last 4 digits SS, IPAD IMEI number, phone numbers for the account, named and address for the account, original purchase receipt for the iPAD, and yet, a week later nothing has been resolved, service has not been restored, calls have not been returned as promised, and charges for a so-called "test phone" (that non-existent device) continue to accrue.  I have no promised resolution date and there doesn't seem to be any urgency on Verizon's part to either apologize or fix the problem for us.
A year ago my boyfriend purchased a Verizon iPhone and added the IPAD 2 to is data share plan as a second device for $10/month.  Apparently last July another Verizon customer walked into a store with an iPAD claiming they were having connectivity issues.  Supposedly it was determined that the IMEI number on that individual's device matched the IMEI number for the iPAD 2 on my boyfriend's account.  Without bothering to research the issue or contact my boyfriend, Verizon simply removed my boyfriend's iPAD 2 service, converted his data share plan second device to something simply identified in his account as a "Test Phone", and assigned his IMEI number to this other customer's account.  My boyfriend isn't the most tech savvy person, so when his iPAD 2 quit accessing the internet he assumed it was something wrong with the iPAD, or a function of where he was at - he spends 5 months of the year in Alaska and coverage is often spotty at best.  So he just tossed it aside opting to browse with his iPhone instead.  Then last week he just happened to be reviewing his latest Verizon bill and where he expected to see the $10/month charge for the iPAD he saw an $11.21 charge to a phone number he didn't recognize.  So he elected to go into a Verizon store to learn what that was about.
There at the Verizon Store the customer service rep informed him that he was "in possession of a stolen iPAD" .  This brain trust of an employee went on to explain to my 65 year old boyfriend that since two devices could not possibly have the same IMEI number, and since the IMEI number on his device (which he took with him to the store) matched the IMEI number of the iPAD on another customer's account, the only logical conclusion was that he had somehow acquired this "stolen iPAD" illegally.  At that point I was contacted to talk to this Verizon employee since I was the original purchaser of that iPAD.  No matter that the customer that now had the iPAD IMEI number on their account acquired that IMEI number after my boyfriend originally registered his iPAD with Verizon.  All of a sudden we are the bad guys that stole an iPAD.  We were informed that we would have to produce an original receipt before they could discuss this with us further.  In other words, guilty of steeling an iPAD until we can prove innocense. I guess the idea that we would register an iPAD, then sell it to another Verizon customer a couple months later, but continue to pay to have the device on our account, then steal the device back from this other customer, and then bring this stolen device into a Verizon store in an attempt to fraudulently register it back onto our account, just seemed like a more likely scenario to this employee.  More likely than the one where another Verizon employee maybe fat-fingured the other guy's IMEI number into their system resulting in the system identifying a duplicate IMEI to the one we had already registered, thereby causing this other, highly trained and intelligent, Verizon rep to simply remove the IMEI number from our account and assign it to this other, obviously more honest appearing individual, without bothering to inform my other half his iPAD was no longer going to be registered, and that he would continue to be billed monthly for the service he no longer had.  Yeah, right.
I could only think of one other possible scenario, that two iPADs could have the same identical IMEI number.  After spending hours on hold, recounting this story to  numerous Verizon customer service and fraud reps to no avail, and becoming exceedingly frustrated with the fact that you can never get a direct line to a specific rep you've already worked with and can never speak to the same rep more than once, I decided to contact Apple about the likelihood of this possibility.  In spite of having an iPAD that was no longer on any sort of technical service warranty, Apple tech rep answered the phone with less than a 2 minute wait.  Listened intently to my story, and expressed complete and utter shock at how I had been treated by Verizon thus far.  He stated emphatically that two devices will not have the same, unique IMEI number.  Further, he was able to verify that the iPAD I purchased and registered with Apple matched the IMEI number we registered with Verizon in February 2013 and the same IMEI number of the device my boyfriend presented in the store a week ago and that according to their records, the device has always been registered to me and only me.  He then called Verizon on my behalf and spoke to the Verizon Customer Care rep - of course, another different one, and vouched for me as the original and only known owner to Apple of that iPAD.  He then connected me with that Verizon rep.  Ten minutes later with the Apple tech rep off the call, the Verizon CC rep actually told me the Apple tech did not vouch for me during his conversation with her.  She did admit he called her, but did not seem to understand why he called her.  Wow.
So, next I proceeded to secure a duplicate sales receipt from Best Buy for the purchase I made the day the iPAD 2 first hit the shelf on March 2, 2011.  No problems with Best Buy customer service.  Back home with an electronic copy of the receipt I called Verizon for what seemed now like the 100th time in 3 days and waited on hold the obligatory 20 minutes, made my way through the automated answering system obstacle course, provided all the various security pass codes, account numbers and answered all the requisite questions which, by now, I am convinced are designed to get the less determined customer to simply give up in exasperation.  Only to be told by this new customer care rep that I could not send this receipt electronically to them because "that would be illegal". OMG
I was told I would need to wait until so and so from the fraud department returned his promised call to me - by then two days overdue.  Sorry.  So, I waited another day and called the fraud department.  Got a new person after all the **.  Only to have this person give me an e-mail address to send the receipt and then they needed to go as they were so busy and I could call back later.  Called back again to see if now that they had the receipt they could tell me what the status was for closing out the investigation and re-activating our iPAD.  Got another new person.  Of course they can never connect you with anyone you've worked with before.  Either they've never heard of all those other people you've talked to or that other person is simply not there.  This time it was the latter and I would have to continue to wait two more days when that other person handling the case was supposed to return.  Supposedly this other person entered into their notes that they tried to call me.  Funny, they had the right contact information for me and I had my cell phone with me the entire time as I was expecting that call.  Yet, it never rang, there were no logged missed calls, and no messages on it.  So, at this point I am totally out of my mind and I'm sure there are lots of notes in the case file about the irate and unreasonable woman customer that keeps calling about this issue.  I ask to speak to a supervisor.  I'm told I can't because the her supervisor has already left for the day due to all the long hours they've all been working.  I asked to speak to another supervisor.   I was told, you can't speak to another supervisor, "you can only speak to my supervisor as I'm not allowed to connect you with anyone but my supervisor.  I'm sorry, you'll have to wait.".
So, here it is, now 2 days since that last incredible conversation.  Still no one from Verizon has bothered to contact me.  I can fully understand that people make mistakes.  I can understand that something like this might take time to investigate.  I get it.  But, what I can't accept is this attitude that the customer is wrong and Verizon never makes mistakes.  I can't accept being accused of stealing as the only plausible answer for what has happened. I can't accept that Verizon's Customer Care reps and Fraud Prevention reps make promises to call you back on a specific day and then they never do.  I can't understand why they wouldn't at least touch base to let you know they haven't forgotten you.  I can't understand why you have to explain the situation over and over again to a different individual every single time you call them.  Each and every rep seems to have gone through a very thorough training program where the very first words out of their mouths is "I'm sorry you are having this problem. But, rest assured I am here to fix this for you."  After having heard that at least a couple dozen times now, I know how shallow and meaningless those words really are coming from Verizon.
Verizon, shame on you.  You've treated us like dirt.  You've fraudulently charged us $80 to date and continue to charge us for a non-existent phone on a non-existent service. You don't return calls as promised and I have had to resort to this discussion in hopes of getting resolution.  Anyone else feel like they've been treated this badly?  I've been a loyal customer for many years.

    MatthewS_VZW,
As indicated in the original post, I did contact fraud.  Today I contacted them again to get a status.  I was informed they closed the case as "not fraud" on the 22nd, but could explain why I was not contacted back regarding this latest status.  However, the rep then proceeded to tell me they thought I should send a new photocopy of the receipt because the one I sent in was cutoff.  In looking at what I submitted, it was indeed, slightly cutoff at the very bottom.  But what was cutoff was entirely irrelevant as the total cost, applied gift cards and final charge to my credit card were all clearly visible in the middle of the receipt.  The only thing cutoff was the last line of details on the 4th gift card applied to the payment and the line was only cut in half and still decipherable.  Just another stall tactic.  Finally the rep agreed that sending a new receipt wasn't really necessary since the case was already closed.  She said all we needed to do now was go into a Verizon store with the iPad and they could reactivate it.  However, being now very doubtful of anything Verizon has to say, I called Customer Care and that rep said that while the fraud case was indeed closed, nothing has yet been resolved because the other party still has an active device with the same IMEI number.  They could not activate our iPad until the mystery of the duplicate number is resolved.
The customer care rep offered to call the other party and see if they would be willing to bring in their device and sales receipt as well.  So, he promised to call me back after he tried the other party. Well, Raul at Verizon wins the prize for best customer care so far since he really did call me back!  But, apparently the other party told him to pound sand and hung up on him.  Raul was uncomfortable with simply deactivating the other customer's device - wish the Verizon rep that deactivated our device last July had been as ethical as Raul.  So, we are still in limbo with a device we can't get activated.  Raul did at least agree we should be reimbursed for the last 7 months of charges for a non-existent device and supposedly has submitted a request on our behalf to credit us with $80.  He also promised to call back tomorrow with an updated status.  But, at this point it appears there is no clear path to resolve yet.  I don't know what we're going to do or who to elevate this to next.  If they can't compel the other party to prove ownership, or if the other party can prove ownership and indeed there are two devices with the same IMEI number, it seems the only solution will be for Verizon to issue a new device to one of the parties so we both can use iPads.

  • Game center on two iPads and one Apple ID

I own 2 iPads and use a single Apple ID so I have the same apps and music on my two devices. When my wife created an account on the second iPad it shows no games because they were purchased under my account.
Please tell me I'm missing something and there's a way to play multiplayer games between my two iPads without buying the games twice for the two iPads I own.
    Thanks.

UM THERE ISN'T! u either got to change the account names or they are both going to be the same! Consolation: for now they reflect as one player for both devices but they may update to include something to fix this issue later on so I WOULD PHONE APPLE STORE WHERE U PURCHASED THE IPADS AND ASK THEM WHAT U SHOULD DO AND THEY MAY TELL U IT'S COMING SOON OR THAT IT'S NOT POSSIBLE AT ALL (in which case U NEED 2 of everything!!!! Yeah!

  • How to set up two iPads, different locations, one account.

How do I set up two iPads in two different States with one account.  My 89 year old father can not do the details of setting up an account but I want him to have apps and have even gifted him a bird guide.  Now it sits in his in box because we don't know how to download it without an account.

Obviously your father will not be able to sync with iTunes, but somehow I don't think that is going to be an issue.
You can set up the account on your iPad, or computer, whatever, and then have your father sign into your Apple ID on his iPad. Settings>Store>Sign in. He will need your ID and password in order to download apps or other paid content.
However, he does not - nor do you need to set up the account on his iPad. He just needs to sign in to the account.
This is not really ideal - separate ID's would be the way to go, but if you are essentially maintaining the device and springing for the apps - it will work - if you want to share an ID.

  • How can i use two iPads to play a different AU-Instrument for each Pad at the same time via WLAN?

We have two iPads connected to the MacBook with two different Midi-Sessions. Now we want to connect the every Session to a single AU-Instrument to record live but don´t get it right. In Cubase we just had to choose the Sessions as Midi-Input.
    (Sorry for bad englisch )
    cheers

Your second post differs form your first, in the first post you said "single AU instrument", in this last post you said "separate synths".  I'll address the second post.
It's a bit more difficult in Logic than Cubase which has an updated more modern MIDI system.
The iPad MIDI software will need to transmit on separate MIDI channels for each iPad.
    example:
    iPad #1 MIDI channel 1
iPad #2 MIDI channel 2 ...etc, doesn't matter which channels as long as they're separate.
    Boot Logic:
Go to Settings/Recording and select  "Auto Demix by Channel if Multitrack Recording"
Now setup your AU tracks, select separate channels in the inspector, the channels must match the transmit channels on the iPod.
You used to have to record enable the tracks, I don't believe that is necessary now.

  • Using Configurator to share two iPads with multiple users

I work in an office where several people want to share two iPads. We require individuals to connect to our secure wireless network with their own username and password. Each user also wants to set up the iPad to connect to their own Exchange account. Each person will also use their own Apple iTunes store ID and download their own apps.
If I understand the differences between the two applications, Apple Configurator would be the appropriate tool to manage this and not the iPhone Configuration Utility. If I understand how Configurator works, I set up the iPad to connect to Jane's email and to connect to the Apple Store and our wireless using Jane's credentials. Then I back up that profile using Configurator. Next I configure the same device to connect to Jim's email and to connect to the Apple Store and our wireless using Jim's credentials. Then Jim backs up the device to his profile using Configurator.
Now whenever Jane uses the iPad, she brings it back and plugs it into our Mac to backup her profile changes (her apps, her home wireless network settings, etc.). Jim sits down and "Checks out" the iPad to himself which loads his previously backed up profile. If Jane still has the laptop checked out, Jim can plug in the second iPad and load his profile.
Is this how it works? It seems like Configurator can do this, but not the Configuration Utility (which means you need a Mac running Lion to use Configurator).
    Thank you,
    Sean

Thanks gyrhead. Those are some of the better articles I've seen on using Configurator. One of our computer lab managers has been playing with it (I work in the IT department for a university). Basically I can see us using it to manage iOS devices we provide for use in the labs or on a short-term checkout basis, but I don't see Configurator as being a solution for the departments we support who want to share iPads between users. Even if a department has a Mac that can run configurator (many do not), I think it will lead to some bigger support and training issues that we do not have the resources to manage.
For now we are going to tell our faculty and staff departments that iPads and other iOS devices are meant to be personal devices and are not meant to be easily shared. Until Apple comes up with an easy way to login to different profiles on the device (I have also seen some third party products in development... like this one: http://nowsci.com/userprofiles/) we are going to recommend that departments purchase an iPad for any staff who needs it. If they really want to share one iPad among multiple users, they can set up a single Apple/iTunes account for the device tied to a purchasing card, and then just use Safari for checking email (instead of configuring everything for individuals). Of course if they really want to it is not a big deal to delete your email/calendar settings and then add them each time you use the device, but if it wasn't my own device I would just use Safari to check my email and calendar over the Web.

  • My two iPads share an Apple ID.  How can I create a separate Game Center account so they can play each other?

My two iPads share an Apple ID.  How can I create a separate Game Center account so they can play each other?

    1. This is a year old post.  Things have changed, the answer is no longer accurate due to how the OS functions now.
    2.  You can't have a second Gamecenter account tied to the same Apple ID, because the Apple ID is the game center account.  They are not separate things.
    3. The OP said they had 2 iPads, which means they can use a different Apple ID for Gamecenter on the second iPad.
    4. You can still creare Apple ID's specifically for game center without changing them for the other services on the other devices.
    ronjack wrote:
I have the same issue.  Young children who cannot get Apple ID's but we all want separate Gamecenter accounts.
You need to get Apple ID's for them.  They aren't getting them, you are. You can manage these new ID{s yourself. You can even make sure they have no credit card and are not associated with any other service on the device. So essentially they are Apple ID's for GameCente only.

  • Two iPads under one apple account at AppStore

    Dear community !
Please advice is it possible to use two iPads under one Apple account in Apostore ? It's necessary for me to get the same apps for my iPad and for my wife's one.

you can do this with no problems. i have several 4 ipads/iphones all using the same apple account with no issues. in itunes you can choose which apps go to each ipad/iphone - by default all apps go to each, but you can turn this off and choose what you want. a bonus of using the same account is that if you do want the same app, you only have to buy it once.

  • Playing Same Video on Two iPads?

The First iPad is Generation One and the second iPad is a second generation iPad.  Now video mirroring is not the answer since I have tried AirView and Airserveer but the video only plays on ONE iPad at a time.
Basically, i would like to mimic a dual screen DVD player.  Is that even possible?  I've been scouring for apps for about 24 hours now and have finally resorted to coming to the community.  Please advise.
I know the "easy" answer is to put the video on both iPads and give the kids the earphones and let them enjoy themselves.  Only issue is right now is that the kids are uncomfortable with earphones (they are 6 and 4) but both want to watch the same video on their own iPads.

So, you want to stream exactly the same video? There aren't players with exact synching capabilities and, given that the OS doesn't support local streaming on the API level, it's not easy to quickly code one either. Therefore, I can't quickly code one myself (I've written several players but for local playback only).
However, such a player (synching the exact second it starts playing so that video is played back absolutely in parallel) can definitely be written. Just ask someone to write a player or enhance his existing, streaming-capable one with synching capabilities over, say (I'd ersonally use it), GameKit.
BTW, if you need automatic synchronization AND you aren't afraid of putting the same video on the two iPads (as I've stated, programming streaming - as opposed to local playback - isn't that easy), feel free to tell me and I quickly code a synchronizing player. Then, all you need to do is ask a friend with an iOS developer account to deploy the app on your iPads and you're set.

Can I have two iPads with two different credit cards linked to one iTunes account?

It is still not possible to have two credit cards with your iTunes store account. I've just had a discussion with an Apple representative who suggested I give feedback to Apple about this. The more we are, Apple might listen to us in the end.

I’m surprised as are many other people who have the same issue (can see this in many forum threads) that Apple don’t give us the possibility to have at least 2 credit cards with one AppleID/account like most other vendors do (even much smaller than Apple). This certainly forces people to buy some stuff elsewhere that they otherwise would have purchased from Apple (for example books) or restrain from buying things they would have bought if they had a choice to use a second Credit Card.
Not having this option puts me in a precarious situation since it would not be OK to buy just anything with the Credit Card that is tied to my business (and in many cases like mine the business is only one person, the VAT No being the same as my social security No).
Sole traders need an option too.

  • I have two ipads, can i register 2 different passwords

CAN I REGISTER DIFFERENT ID AND PASSWORD FOR MY OTHER IPAD ?
    THIS IS THE SCENARIO :
I have two ipad minis. First one i got last December, 2nd one i got just a month ago.
I plan to let husband use the 2nd ipad, but his game was on my  original ipad. he is on a certain level on the game.
I chose restore from old ipad when i  opened the 2nd ipad and transfered the contents including his game. i turned off the email so my emails wont get into his ipad which he might accidentally delete message.
Question : can i change my id and password so it will be different from his without affecting all other apps and email accounts. Ill be the one to change because im afraid if he be the one to change, the level of the game he is playing on his new ipad will be lost since the whole game was transferred from my current ipad.
or if he change on his side, what will happen to my ipad applications, photos, emails.

  • Two ipads, same setup, application acts differently..why?

I have two iPads running PDF Expert.
Both were upgraded to latest iOS and app installed on same day. Everything else is setup exactly the same way on both iPads.
I click on edit button at the Network server level and I see the delete option and I am able to delete a server on one iPad. When I click on the edit button on the same application on another iPad, no option to delete a server shows up.
I hard rebooted the failing iPad as well as reinstalled app but this did not fix the issue.
What type of issue could this be?

If you set the iPad up over WiFi, when you entered your Apple ID on the device, iCloud downloaded all of your content from your iCloud backup would be my assumption as to what happened. As Eric said, you can change the iPad name in Settings>General>About>Name.
You can delete any content that you don't want on this iPad and download it later if that's what you want to do. If you are using the sme Apple ID on both devices, there will be no conflicts whatsoever with purchased content. You can download content to either or both devices with the same Apple ID,
if you want to keep both iPads in sync with purchases go to Settings>iTunes and App Stores>Automatic Downloads and turn it on for apps, music and books - or any combination of the three items - and when you download that content on one iPad, it will also download the other iPad.

  • How do I use iTunes on one computer to manage two iPads with different contents?

I just bought an iPad Air 2 and want to use it with iTunes on my MacBook Pro.  No problem so far!  However, I want to continue to use my "old" iPad 2 for my wife and want to keep managing it as I always have using iTunes on my MacBook Pro.  The thing is that I want to make it possible for the two iPads to have quite different content to allow for the different needs and tastes of my wife and me.  How should I go about this?
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi Brett,
Thanks very much for the information.
I took a look at it but it seems to be aimed solely at "media" on an iPad, i.e. movies, music, TV shows etc.  This is fine, but I also want to be able to deal with all the apps on each iPad too, so that when I connect each iPad to my MacBook through iTunes, the synching process works just like it always has for my first iPad (an IPad 2).  I don't mean that I want all the apps on both iPads to be the same (my wife doesn't need all the apps that are on the iPad 2 at present), but I do want to be able to add/remove/update media and apps on each iPad, and update the iOS on each iPad.
Basically, I guess, I want a situation whereby when I plug in either of the iPads, iTunes recognizes each as a separate device and has a totally separate "library" (backup?) of music, movies, TV shows, etc. and — most importantly — apps.  Is that possible?
    Regards,
    Chris
