Two Master pages with two design pages

Hi All;
I need a help in the below scenario;
- I have two Master pages wid different header title and other information which I required for two different body pages.
I need to assign the 1st master page with all content of first page data (both design pages will display table data).
so the first page display should start with 1st master page  and 1st body and after finishing the content of first table..
2nd master and body page starts with the content of 2nd table..
The issue is I am getting one extra page when I am checking design pages
Please let me know your valuable suggestion.. Helpful answer will be highly appreciated !!!

  • Upgrading to CS5 Master Collection with CS3 Design Premium Suite

    I just bought CS5 Creative Suite Master Collection on Tigerdirect.com. I noticed there wasn't any details about what version of software you can upgrade from (such as Master Collection or Design Premium etc)  I currently have CS3 Design Premium Software (an upgraded version from CS1 or whatever).  Will I be able to upgrade to the CS5 Creative Suite Master Collection by using my CS3 Design Premium serial number?

    Only if you bought the right upgrade.Here's the correct item on Amazon: http://amzn.to/b4XQJ3
    Note the list price is $1,299. Amazon has it for about $1,239. If you paid significantly less than that you bought the wrong one.

  • How can you get get two master pages to repeat in a document with one of them having numbering.

    How can you get two master pages in Indesign to repeat when one of them has a numbering section and the back side is a common back. For example, Master A has numbering 001-500 and Master B is the common back for all 500 pages.

    My guess is you either want to use a numbered list for the numbering, rather than a page number marker, or you want to make two files and print a single page file with the static text 500 times, then flip the stack and print the 500 page file.
    What are you trying to do?

  • Is it possible to use two buttons on a master page to link to consecutive pages i.e. previous or next

    The easiest way to explain what I am attempting to achieve is to create a navigation template on the master page, with two identical arrows, one pinned to the left side, and one to the right, along with a basic 3 button navigation for; home - table of contents - end for example.
    The idea behind the arrows is that if on my "Plan" tab in Muse, I have all pages within the site in consecutive order from left to right and everytime I change the image that represents the previous or next, I have to go through every page, delete the source image, add the source image to every page (50+ pages) and then link each page individually to the next page in the order.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Jeff

    I produce a 300-page magazine twice a year that uses next/previous links. Unfortunately master items can't be edited on individual pages. My solution is to edit the HTML after the export. Too bad overrides don't work as they do in InDesign.
    In Muse you could create the arrows on an editable page, then copy/paste-in-place on the rest of the pages and edit the links on each page. Isolate them on a separate locked layer above the regular page content so they don't get moved accidentally.

  • Master page mapping & two-level running headers

    Using running headers for two or more levels is probably an age-old problem both in Framemaker and Word. I wonder if anyone has a solution that works with master page mapping.
    To elaborate a bit, I have a number of documents with a typical chapter structure like this:
    1
    1.1
    1.2
    1.3
    2
    3
    4
    4.1
    4.2
    When I use a running header that references both first-level (H1) and second-level headings (H2), the previous second-level heading is carried over to the next first-level section. For example, H2 from section 1.3 is carried over to the running header of sections 2 and 3, as there is no new H2.
    The obvious solution is to apply a different master page to sections that have no second-level heading.
    However, I failed to find master page mapping rules that would give me the intended result: When I use a master page mapping rule for H1 paratags ("use a master page with a running header for H1 only, until changed"), it doesn't consider if there is a H2 paratag on the same page. In conjunction with a mapping rule for H2 paratags, the second-level running header would start at the second subsection of every first-level section, i.e. 1.2 or 4.2, leaving 1.1 and 4.1 with a different header (which is a trade-off, but not too nice).
    Do you know of any solution or workaround (preferably without using FrameScript)?
    Thanks in advance for any helpful comments.

    Good news, I think found a workaround myself. (The solution is similar to what I did in Word.)
    My "magic" building block for the second-level running header is
    <$paratext[+,H2,#EmptyPara]>
    The "+" argument tells FrameMaker to look for the specified paratags from the bottom of the page upwards. If there is no H2, it displays the content of #EmptyPara instead. Now one only has to make sure that there is an empty paragraph with paratag #EmptyPara after the heading of every first-level section that has no subsections.
    If you like to share your solution, I'd still be interested.

    Hi, Johannes:
    I haven't used Word in ages, so I wasn't aware it had become this smart!
    Your solution is good use of existing FrameMaker capability. I don't have any better solution to contribute.
    If the blank paragraphs cause inter-paragraph spacing problems, you might want to create a new paragraph format, "H2_NoSub," for headings that have no subsections, and make it a run-in, so that it pulls the #EmptyPara onto its own line, hence, there's no effect on text flow.
    Yes, you'd need to adjust running header definitions, and TOC included paragraph definitions to deal with the new paragraph format. Just a suggestion.

  • Flowing text from two column master pages

    I'm trying to create a document with a two column master page using  two separate text boxes rather than a text box with 2 columns. When I flow the text into page 1 of the document it autoflows and creates the rest of the pages automatically but uses a page wide single column rather than the 2 columns I have on my master page. How can I make it create the new pages with the two columns on them? This is CS4.

    I need to know EXACTLY what you've set up and how you are flowing the text before I can tell you what's going wrong.
    Do you have a master text frame or frames? Did you override the master frame before placing the text? Are there column guides on the master page? Some screen captures might help, too. You can embed them in a post by clciking on the camera icon on the web page:

  • Using Two asp Page into Master-Page

    Hi All,
    I Have Master-Page and I want tow assign two Different Asp Page into the "div" tag in master Page , however
    I have different "div" tag in my master-Page , and I focus Assign in one "Div"  the Home-page by suing "ContentplaceHolder",
    and i Assign to another "div" different asp page using "Contentplaceholder" , but when i assign the second asp page to the "div" it give me
    nothing on that "div",  while the "div" which i assign the Home-page it works fine.
    I just think that the Master-page already know the Home-page by setting  it as "Home-Page" while the other page is do nothing.
    So could you please help to assign different asp page to different "div" in master Page.
    thanks all .

    Hi,
    According to your description, my understanding is that you want to insert two asp pages to mater page in SharePoint 2010.
    You can use <!– #include file=”[filename].aspx” –> to include the pages in the master page.
    More information are provided in the link below:
    http://triaslama.wordpress.com/2008/11/19/how-to-include-file-in-aspnet-pages/
    I recommend to use User Controls to include the asp pages in master page.

  • Can you print only pages with a specific master page designation?

    I'm laying out a fairly large technical book using InDesign CS4 and need to print proofs of pages that use a specific custom master page. Rather than scrolling through the Page window and writing down page numbers that use that specific master, i'd like to have a quick way of doing it. If anyone knows of a way to do this by either script or other means, I'd really appreciate the help. Thanks!

  • Two Master Pages at The Same Time / Or Something Similar

    Hi,
    I'm trying to figure out the most efficient way to implement "tabs" on sides of 180-page document.
    In an ideal world, I'd have one master page have the blue bar with tabs (refer to the pic). This master page would be applied to the entire document.
    Then I'd create a bunch of "secondary" master pages with the colored tabs (in the pic, that would be the orange tab under word "Incontinence").
    The colored tabs would be enabled one at a time, for different sections (say, incontinence would be turned on on pages 20-40, then Wound Care for pages 40-80, etc).
    Is there a way to do that? To have some kind of "secondary" master page. Or better yet, conditional show/hide switch for colored tabs, based on page numbers?
    Thanks.

    Thanks.
    It's possible to have a self-maintaining tab set.
    ON MASTER PAGE:
    * Create a text frame that overlies the tab bar (use separate layers for easier manipulation.) Create a paragraph style "ColorBlock" that you'll "tune" later.
    * Create a paragraph style, "RunHeadSource" for running-header source text.
    * Create a running header text variable "TabSpacer" and insert it in the text frame over the background tab bar.
    * Create a rectangle the size and shape of the highlight color block; color it as desired, apply transparency, save as an object style, then insert it as an anchored/inline object in the ColorBlock paragraph. The block overlies the first tab.
    ON BODY PAGES
    * Create text that uses the RunHeadSource paragraph style; it can be in main text or in margin, etc. If you want it in its own text frame, you can create the text frame on the master page, for convenience, then override it to the body page that starts a new header source.
    * The width of text in the RunHeadSource paragraph displaces the inline text TabSpacer, so for each location that needs a different tab, create header text of appropriate length.
    * To hide the TabSpacer source text, you can use non-breaking spaces, or text color None.
    RESULT:
    In the first section, no text in the RunHeadSource paragraph style, so the inline colored object starts at the start of the tab bar. In subsequent sections, each variable source text displaces the colored object to the next tab.
    It's a little fussy work to create, but it repays the investment because it's self-maintaining.

  • Help With Master Pages

    Hi all -
    I'm more of a finance guy who has been given the task to design a PDF with forms - so please excuse my naivete as designing isn't my strong point.
    For some reason now, my Master Page is showing up in the middle of my document, between two forms. In the Hierarchy, the Master Page is still on top, but when I view it in Acrobat or scroll down in LiveCycle, I'm seeing a blank page in the middle of my two forms. Any ideas what might be causing that and how I can correct the problem?
    When I started, I just kept adding a new blank page and adding my form fields/text fields/objects/text. The document is now about 30 pages long.
    I'm using Acrobat 9 Pro Extended and LiveCycle Designer 8.3
    My thanks in advance for any help!

    Could you post your form for a review?

  • Import multiple Word docs to multiple pages with same master page?

    Hi, I should start by saying I have no scripting experience.  However, I am wondering if there is a simple script available for the following issue:
    I have set up a master page with three linked text boxes. Right now, I use Cmd+D to select a word file, and then Shift+click in the first box to place the text on the page. But I have 125 pages that are exactly the same layout, just different Word files to be imported. I could repeat this process 125 times, but I am wondering if there is a way to tell InDesign to create 125 pages using Master Page X and import one file for each?
    I am using InDesign CS5 v 7.0.4 on Mac OSX Snow Leopard v 10.6.7
    Thank in advance for any help you can offer,
    NW

    I was able to import the word documents as long as there was only one text frame on the master page. However, when I created multiple text frames (the text in the word document needs to flow from frame 1 to frame 2), it always imported into frame 2 and skipped frame 1. In case it is helpful to understand what I mean, I attach two screenshots. The first (sans text) is the master page, and the second is Page 1 after running the script. I added the labels Frame 1 and Frame 2 to Page 1, not the Master, because otherwise the text gets imported into the frame with the words "Frame 2". I suspect I have to label the frames in InDesign and then add something to the script that says insert into the Frame 1, but I'm not sure how to do that.
    It wasn't clear from your narrative in June that the text frames were linked, and that the text needed to flow between frames.
    The script, as implemented, only overrides one text frame, (textFrames[0],  which is the top-most text frame in the stacking order), and then places the text in it. Clearly that's not correct for your scenario.
    You mention 3 frames but only mention flowing between 2 frames.
    Anyhow, it sounds like you want the script to override all 3 text frames, and then to place in the first textframe.
    The first is easy, the question is really what should happen when there are more than 3 text frames -- should it override all text frames, or only some. You could specify which ones with a Script Label, or you could do something more clever. For the moment, let's just override all text frames.
    Then you have to specify which one to place into. You could just select the frame you want and Arrange > Bring To Front. Or we could specify frames[2], which should be the 3rd-from-the-top (after frames[0] and frames[1]). I'll do the latter, but feel free to keep the script the same and do the former:
    var
        d=app.activeDocument,
        p=d.pages,
        i, frames;
    for (i=0; i<p.length; i++) {
        frames = p[i].appliedMaster.textFrames.everyItem().override(p[i]);
        frames[2].place(new File("/path/to/page"+p[i].name+".doc"));

  • Deployed Custom Master Page Not Visible in Designer

    My team has created a custom master page and has packaged and deployed it as a feature. The custom master page file correctly appears in the master pages gallery via the Web UI, but it's not showing up in the Master Pages folder when the site is opened
    in Designer. What are we missing?

    Hi,
    when the master page was deployed by a sandbox solution please make sure that the master page is checked in and approved. SharePoint doesn't check in and approve files that was deployed by a sandbox solution. Also make sure that the correct content type
    is assigned. because otherwise you won't see it too.
    To set the content type of the master page on deployment correct you just need to simply add the following inside the <file>
    <Property Name="ContentType" Value="$Resources:cmscore,contenttype_masterpage_name;" />
    If the master page is a farm  you should also add the content type but it will be checked in automatically. I hope you are on root level of your site collection because the master page will not deployed to the sub sites.
    In SharePoint Designer you also have two different approaches to find the master page.
    Approach 1:
    Use the Master Page Entry on the navigation pane left. The Master Page will only show up if content type ins correctly set.
    Approach 2:
    Go to "All Files" -> _catalogs -> masterpage
    By using approach two you will see the same amount of files that you can review in SharePoint. You will also find the article pages in there.
    Hope this helps
    Kind regards

  • Error with master page "insert current page number" when exporting book

    Using InDesign CS 5.5 for Windows
    Recently upgraded from InDesign CS (the really old one from 2003). I did save a copy of all my old version files and kept the old ID installed just in case (after reading all the horror stories on here).
    In my old version of ID, I created a book made up of about 70 documents. Some of these documents are one page, others have multiple pages. In the multiple page documents, I used the "insert ... current page number" character (or whatever the command was in the old version) on a master page, and formatted it to read, for example: Page 1 of 17, Page 2 of 17, Page 3 of 17, etc. When I exported my book to a pdf, it worked fine. (I do not want/have consecutive page numbers throughout the book, only in individual documents. By this I mean my entire book is about 280 pages, but not all of these 280 pages are numbered, just the groups of pages from these multi-page documents. It doesn't read page 1 through 280.)
    Got my upgrade to 5.5 a few months ago, added some documents to the book, and (if i remember right) when I saved the book it asked to convert every old version document to the new version, which I said okay. When I exported the book to a pdf, some documents that are longer than 2 pages are now numbered wrong; the numbers are now going like this: Page 1 of 17, Page 2 of 17, Page 2 of 17 (supposed to be page 3), Page 2 of 17 (supposed to be page 4), etc. Every page but page 1 is now page 2 of whatever.
    If I open the individual document and export it to pdf, the page numbers work fine. It's only when the document is exported with the book that the page numbers mess up. And it's not all the documents in my book; this error starts at a particular document and continues from that point throughout the rest of the book, affecting any document longer than 2 pages. Multi-page documents before this point in the book export with the correct page numbers.
    I create new documents by doing a "save as" with a previously created document and cut and paste as needed, so I'm not having to reformat or set up page numbers on each new document. I don't use layers or styles (I'm sure there's a better way to do what I need, but I've only had time learn the basics, just enough to be functional.)
    My attempts to fix this so far (using version 5.5), testing with the first document where the error appears: (1) I've removed the document from the book, deleted the insert current page number character, re-entered the insert current page number character, saved, exported the individual document to pdf and it worked fine. Put it back in the book, save, export, and it's wrong. (2) I took the document out of the book again, exported the document to .idml, saved as new .indd with new name, exported to pdf and it worked fine. Put it back in the book, save, export, and it's wrong. (3) I started up my old ID version, opened the old version of this document, exported to .inx, closed, opened .inx in ID 5.5, saved as new .indd with new name, exported to pdf and it worked fine. Put it back in the book, save, export, and it's wrong. (4) I moved the document up in the book order, putting it above a document that has correctly numbered pages, saved, exported to pdf, and this document was still wrong, but the one that has been numbered correctly all along is still correct. (5) I've compared settings for this document to others that number correctly and cannot find any difference.
    It's like the page numbers get hung on "2" when I export the book, but only in the last two-thirds of the book. Sorry it's so lengthy, but I hope this description of my problem is understandable. Any advice, other than going back to my old version documents and starting over?
    Thanks for your time and for all the awesome information this forum provides!
    alice

    Mr. Spier
    Right after I posted my question, I saw a post from last year where somebody had similar problems. (I cringed because I spent almost 3 days researching this problem and never ran across that post; thanks for not scolding me for posting a semi re-run.) I decided to try one of the easier solutions: I opened the problem document from the book panel, went to the master page and deleted the text box containing the page number, copied the page number box from a document that worked correctly, and pasted it into the problem document. Saved that doc, closed, saved book, exported to pdf, and it worked!! The page number problem was fixed. I went back and did the same thing for the other problem documents and they all number correctly now.
    Probably not the best way, but for now this will fix it; I may have to do it again next time I add to the book. Although I didn't follow your instructions, I'll mark this as answered since it's working now. If it keeps giving me problems, I'll try the .inx export/new book route.
    thanks for your time

  • Master page objects with drop shadows crossing over spreads

    Mac 10.5.4 - INDesign CS3
    I have a book file that is giving me a pretty hard time. There are several master page spreads that do not show as spreads in the book file. The left page from one set of masters with the right page from another set. There is a grouped row of circles that has drop shadow applied that appears on several master spreads. This is built as two groups that meet in the gutter to give the appearance of a row all the way across the spread. When the group is on the gutter between the two pages of the master spread, The object will show up on the both pages of the book spread, on top of the data from the left page master. If we shut off the drop shadow, no problem. If we move the group 0p5 away from the gutter no problem. The problem is that in the end we want this element to have a drop shadow and to run into the gutter.
    Does InDesign count the spread of the object effect as part of the object itself? That seems like what is happening. Is there a fix (work around) for this?

    The easiest workaround I know of is to paste the object with the drop shadow inside another box such that you can clip it at the gutter. We've cursed this "feature" for years.

  • Is it a best practice to have a template with one master page?

    I am a newbie FM 11 writer and am cleaning up some unorganized books. Should I copy one set of Master Pages to all files in the book. Currently my TOC and certain other files have unique master pages. I would like to set up our books using best practices and would like input from the community. Thanks.

    There are two schools of thought on this. The specific sub-template approach or the "kitchen sink" approach.
    In the "kitchen sink" (i.e. everything, including the...) approach, the FM template is loaded with everything required for the project in a single file. It's simple to deploy, import it to all files and you're good to go. However, the author may have to deal with all sorts of superfluous tags and page layouts in some specific file types, like the cover pages, TOC, Index and other generated files. The onus is on the author to select the correct items to use from the multitude of choices.
    The sub-template approach is modular approach where one creates the various components in separate template files, e.g. paragraph and character tags, tables, page layouts, etc. and combines to create specific templates for the various book components. These component-combined templates only have the minimum that is required for each type of document component. This is a lego-like approach and it provides more flexibility (IMHO) with modifying, updating and creating new templates. This is easier (perhaps less intimidating would be a better term) for the author to use as their choices are much more limited in any given context. However, they do have to apply the correct templates to the specific book components.
    In all cases, you need to document the usage of all components in the template(s), so authors will know the intent of each and every tag, table, sttyle, page layout, etc.
