Two model projects (1 for Oracle, 1 for SQLServer) with 1 view project?

We are trying to solve the issue of supporting both Oracle and SQLServer backends with our ADF application.  We have read many posts and our application is working against Oracle but have some issues with SQLServer.  The entities are created as SQL92/Java.  Would a better approach be to create separate model projects and then load or build with the appropriate one.  Each would have identical naming so the view would work with either.  At run time we know which type of db is installed. If this was to work how would we specify one over the other when building/running?
If I am way off on this idea please let me know and we will continue down the current path.
Thank you
Rudy

Hi Shay,
Yes, I have been through that document and done everything except the primary key generation.  Our db's do use the Identity/Sequence features for generating primary keys and this cannot be changed due to legacy systems that also access the db.  The error I see against SQLServer when performing a Commit after a CreateInsert, Update, or Delete is this:
<LifecycleImpl> <_handleException> ADF_FACES-60098:Faces lifecycle receives unhandled exceptions in phase INVOKE_APPLICATION 5
javax.faces.el.EvaluationException: oracle.jbo.JboException: [oracle.jbo.DMLException: JBO-26080: Error while selecting entity for GetValueRuleEO]

    at oracle.adf.view.rich.component.fragment.ContextSwitchingComponent$1.run(ContextSwitchingComponent.java:92)
This happens against multiple entity objects.  The entity PK's are defined as oracle.jbo.Domain.DBSequence with Updatable as Never and no Refresh. Is there a way to set the properties of the application model at runtime, possibly within the initialization servlet?
Thank you.

Captivate 8 - How to change to producing "project.json" file instead of a "project.txt" file?  Having issues with viewing published projects due to this.   Would be thankful fo rany/all advice.

I'm having the same issue. I've been able to work around it by opening the txt file and copying the contents. Then I open a new file in Sublime Text 2, paste the contents and save the new file as "project.json". It seems to work, but it'd been nice if I didn't have to do this everytime I publish a new project.

  • What do I need for Oracle Http Server with mod_plsql on Linux 64bit?

I am trying to get the OHS onto a linux box but I am not quite sure I am installing the correct thing!!
I currently have a windows box running the 10g Application server but everything seems to have changed since then and there seems to be several different things to do with the Fusion Middleware and stuff. I've tried to find an overview in plain english of what all these things are but all I can find are lots of marketing buzzwords!
All in need to to be able to run the OHS with the mod_plsql so I can run my apex application. I'd be greatfull if someone could point me in the right direction for what I need to install!
The box it is going on is a CentOS Linux 64bit machine. I've download and installed Oracle WebLogic Server 11g Rel 1 (10.3.3) using the generic installer for the 64 bit java but there seems to be no http server despite it saying there is! Most likely I am doing something wrong but the installer finishes successfully but nothing is running on port 7001.
Do I actually need the WebTier instead? Is that the best solution for running the OHS with mod_plsql? Do I need the WebLogic install as well? Unfortunately I am fairly new to Linux as well which isn't helping!!
    thanks for any help
    Robert

    Well, you have two options:
    - Use the OHS from the OFM WebTier Utilities distro. (To use 11.1.1.3 version, you need both the 11.1.1.2 and 11.1.1.3 distros)
    - Use the OHS from the DB Companion Disk distro.
WebLogic Server is a Java EE application with an HTTP server included, but not intended to be used as a replacement of OHS/Apache. It doesn't support mod's...

    Hi,
I am trying to download JDeveloper patch 9i with OAF extension for Oracle Apps 11i 10 framework with RUP4. I am having issues with finding the right patch number as metalink says different patches in different pages. Can some help? Pls?
    Thanks.

5455514 is the patch for rup 4 based system.
As for the error, it is very generic. Either try to follow the steps for hello world carefully or search on forum, you will find many similar threads on this topic.

  • To create a database link from oracle to sqlserver with NT authentication

    Hi ,
I need to create a database link from oracle 9i to sql server database with windows authentication.I dont have the database username and password instead the access is given to my NT ID and password. So can anyone provide me the information about creating a dblink to sql server with windows authentication.
    Thanks

Oracle is attempting to log in to SQL Server using NT authentication.
The Oracle process, however, is running presumably with a local admin account (normal for a Windows service). SQL Server has no idea what this local account is, so it denies the login.
You could change the Oracle service to run as a known user (presumably not as your Windows ID but some other Windows ID you create explicitly for Oracle) and then grant that Windows ID in SQL Server appropriate privileges. That would mean, though, that when you queried tables over the database link, you'd be using that new Windows ID's privileges on SQL Server, not your Windows ID's privileges.
As I've said, though, this is a general architectural limitation for a multi-tier architecture. The end system (SQL Server) generally has no idea who the end user (your Windows ID) is when that user is coming through a middle tier (Oracle). So it cannot apply end-user permissions to connections created by the middle tier.

  • Project Manager - Creating Trimmed Project w Handles, still leaving me with Huge Project

I'm trying to create a trimmed version of a completed Premiere Pro project, via "Project Manager...",
but I'm confused why I'm not getting a more condensed resulting project size.
This project consists of a completed 3.5 minute edit of a 2-camera conference video.
The majority of clips in the sequence are drawn from several hour-long clips in the master media folder, but the project I'm trying to archive and share
is this 3.5 minute highlight/digest piece.  I was hoping I could send a trimmed project (sequence) to my finishing editor, without having to transfer all the media, and all the unused parts of some of these long clips,
and was under the assumption that "trimming" would accomplish this, however trying to make a trimmed version with handles in Project Manager, is still leaving me with a 90+gig project.
Exporting this sequence when selecting "Match Sequence Settings" produces a 694.7 MB .mpeg movie, culled from .mxf files (PMW300) and .mts files (C100).
    What am I missing?
I also attempted to create an AE project by importing this PP project (1 selected sequence) into AE,
and reducing/consolidating and collect files, and was still being left with a 90+gig project (see attached)
Would love any insight or workflow tips!
    (settings in Project Manager)
("Collect Files" folder from an AE export of the same project, creating 96+gig footage folder for 3.5min .mpeg video )

As Richard noted, Create New Trimmed Project is limited in the formats that it supports/trims. All MPEG formats will be copied in their entirety. i.e.: not trimmed.
Starting with Premiere Pro CC 2014.1 (8.1), Consolidate and Transcode was added, which may suit your needs. More information can be found at:

  • Problem with "View project-level information" permission when accessing build definition in Visual Studio Online

    Hi,
from some time all our team members are experiancing problems when acsessing list of builds on Visual Studio Online or when trying to edit build definition in Visual Studio. Error message suggests problem with missing View project-level information permission:
"TF50309: The following account does not have sufficient permissions to complete the operation: XXXXXXXX. The following permissions are needed to perform this operation: View project-level information."
I've checked permissions of my User account and Group. "View project-level information" is set to Allow on both levels. We didn't make any changes in security configuration recently. Does anyone faced similar problem?
Short term solution was to add all users, to Project Collection Administrators Group, but it is not what we would like to live with.

It seems that the problem was fixed and Project Collection Administrators permissions are no longer required. Great :-)

  • Is there a JCA adapter for Oracle for use in any J2EE app server

Anyone know if Oracle actually produce a JCA adapter for integrating with Oracle databases from any application server?
Or if any other vendor produces such an adapter?
I can't find any reference to a standalone distribution of such an adapter on the oracle website.
We are not using the Oracle App server, just want a JCA that can plug into our JCA compliant server and be able to call services and generate events from an oracle database.

  • How to use RAW partition for Oracle for placing data?

    Dear all,
I have installed Oracle on a SUN machine and use database mount point /oracle which is a UFS system.
But now I would like to use RAW partition instead of a UFS system to place Oracle database data...
The installation guide mentions that database mount points have to be prepared before installation, could I just use /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s5 as database mount points after partitioning c0t0d0s5?
I am attempting to create a tablespace in the above partition... Could any experts tell me if the above works?
    Thanks a lot!

    kwan,
Raw partion is used to store Oracle data files and not Oracle software. Oracle home is going be in regular file system. More than one file can not share the same raw device.
You create the raw device at the OS level using the OS command. Then create tablespace on Oracle and use the clause DATAFILE 'Raw file Name'
    Hope this helps
    Best,
    G

  • RoboHelp for HTML 9 - Problem with viewing .chm file on 64bit machine

I am working with RoboHelp for HTML 9 on a 32 bit machine. Recently, we encountered problems when viewing a .chm file on a 64 bit machine. The TOC was fine, but the topics did not appear, only error message "Navigation of this web page cancelled". My compilation settings did not change since the last compilation some months ago. What happens?

Generally, I've only ever seen the need to ensure the CHM is unblocked if it has been downloaded from the web. I could see where it could possibly occur if one moved the CHM from a network drive to a local drive, but I'm skeptical that would be required in that case.

    Hi,
If the EUL is an apps mode (EBS) EUL then the eu_username column is the apps user id or apps resp id. If you want to show only the responsibilities and convert those ids to names then you need to use the EUL5_GET_APPS_USERRESP function like this:
    select ba_name, ba_developer_key, EUL5_GET_APPS_USERRESP(eu.eu_username, 'R') responsibility_name
    from eul5_bas ba
       , eul5_access_privs ap

    where ba.ba_id = ap.gba_ba_id

We have a tool profiler in sqlserver,we need the tool which works like profiler...
    Regards,

You can enable tracing at multiple levels using the DBMS_MONITOR package. The following link shows how to enable session tracing: [Application Tracing Tools|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14211/sqltrace.htm#CHDFCGAE]
You can then use a tool like TKPROF or TRCSESS to aggregate the trace data into more readable files for analysis.

    Hi,
I just had this messages yesterday during my install.
You have to update those 2 files:
    <RCU Home>\rcu\integration\ipm\sql\createtables_ipm_sqlserver.sql
    <RCU Home>\rcu\integration\ipm\sql\createuser_ipm_sqlserver.sql
The first 2 lines begin with "Rem ..." which is not correct for SQL Server : I added "--" and it worked.
    Regards,
    Guénaël
