Two Step Verification not working in Safari 8.0

I'm using a 13-inch Macbook Pro Retina Late 2013 2.6 GHz i5 16GB RAM.  Yosemite 10.10 - Safari 8.0
I tried to turn on Two-Step Verification for my Apple ID using the new Safari with Yosemite, and everything worked fine until I was required to enter my Recovery ID that had been printed out (Step 3 of 4).  Every time I clicked 'Confirm', it would download a 'confirm' file to my Downloads Folder.  My only option was to use the 'Go Back' button to cancel.
However, if I used the Chrome browser, the Verification process worked without issue.

Hi Nate...
Might be Safari cookies, cache, or extensions.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
Click:  Remove All Website Data
No open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that didn't help, try troubleshooting extensions.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.

  • Alta mail and two step verification not working

    Hello how are you all?
I am trying to use AltaMail, v5.2  in my Ipad mini with 2steps verification
It worked fine without the 2 step verification.
But now that I have reactivate my 2 step verification  My Ipad apps AltaMail keep stating  wrong password for my Gmail account .
I have created an  application-specific passwords in Gmail google and entered the password given to me in my AltaMail  Gmail account password box but still still doesn't want to connect...... reason wrong password
Contacted app company,  but they too although nice seemed  a bit lost
    any idea

well, yes, but it let me do the iPad and iPhone
and isn't the problem you mention that there is a flaw in the "reset my Password" function, which is not two-step verification.
the 3 day waiting period was always intended for people who have recently made changes to their account, and I think is not part of the concern over the Reset flaw.
I did not have to wait 3 days for the iPad and iPhone to work.
I am able at this moment to have it send the unlock verification code to my iPad. I believe two-step verification is currently up and working, except I can't get it turned on for my mini.
    I could be wrong

  • HT5593 Cannot get two step verification to work

I cannot get the two step verification SMS message received on my iPhone. I tested my iPhone by sending text messages to it from other sources and it works but the SMS message from Apple needed to verify two step verification does not go through. I have iOS 8.1 on an iPhone 5s.

Also, I read this on one of the Apple Support Documents:
How do I use Find My iPhone notifications to receive verification codes?
Find My iPhone notifications can be used to receive verification codes on any iOS device with Find My iPhone turned on.
How indeed do you do this? It isn't clear at all. It just says that you can use your "Find My iPhone" notifications to receive the verification codes. But how?

  • Two step verification in Canada SMS does not work with Telus

Just saw the announcement that Two step verification for your Apple account is now available to Canada.
    http://www.macnn.com/articles/13/05/10/option.will.appear.automatically.in.accou nt.details/
Tried to sign up, unfortunately after many attempts and testing with a few different phones it appears that Apples SMS server is not connected with Telus mobility as the messages never come through to any of my phones on the Telus network.
So maybe the announcement is a little premature.

    False start.
The option to sign up for two step verification has now been removed again.
I guess they have to get the SMS feature working first.
Here is a request.  Apple can you implement the industry standard time based authentication protocol:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time-based_One-time_Password_Algorithm
    http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc6238
Same one is being used by:
    Google
    Dropbox
    Lastpass
    Microsoft
    Amazon AWS
Then you can use one of the many apps available for smartphones and support users who want something secure but that does not require SMS or an apple hardware device to login to their apple id.

  • Two step verification code entry keeps looping in Safari

I've recently upgraded to a 5S, however when I try to purchase from the app store, it askes me to verify the device, as I have two step verification set up.
    However, it doesn't work.
I get the verification code sent to my iPad, but when I type it into Safari on either the phone or my iMac, it keeps looping.
    The text is
"We have sent a temporary verification code to [device name]. Enter the code to continue. Didn't receive a code?"
When I enter the code, it flickers, then displays the same message.
    Help? I can't set up my 5S, I can't disable two-step through my iMac.
Suggestions to overcome? (I do not have my Recovery Key either)

  • "Could not sign in. Unknown error." on my apple tv after enabling two-step verification

I am unable to sign into my apple tv after enabling the two-step verification. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks.

Just finished with a factory reset. Everything works now. I don't really understand the two step verification though. I was not asked to supplement my password with a code when logging into the apple tv.

  • HT5577 Devices and Recovery ID stolen. Unable to access account with two-step verification. Apple does not care. What can I do?

Last year, my backpack containing my laptop and phone were stolen. My Recovery Key was saved as a screenshot on the laptop and on the phone and I have no other copy. I remotely wiped both devices. I had no insurance for such circumstances and replaced them at my own expense but I cannot access my AppleID account because Two-Step Verification is active and my old telephone number was replaced and I no longer have access to it. I can live with losing the devices as a result of my own stupidity, but Apple claims they are unable to restore my access to my old account in spite of the special circumstances. Apple can confirm my identity via my bank details and my email address but they do not seem to care. I've lost access to my music, software, calendars etc. I have a new AppleID - I had no other option but to set one up - but it irks me that Apple is unwilling to transfer purchases made on my old AppleID to my new one. I am considering taking legal action to regain my purchases and wonder if anybody else has found themselves in a similar situation.

If apple tracked deviced they sold they would be violating a great number of privicy laws and would face class action and criminal lawsuits in most of the western countries

  • HT202656 verification code not sent to my iPhone (Sprint) for two-step verification for apple id

I have tried to set up two-step verification several times using iCloud, first my iMac and then, when that didn't work, on my iPhone, all to no avail. I followed the instructions up to and including the step where the message says I will receive an SMS on my iPhone with a verification code. I never received the message with the verification code.
I am using Sprint as my internet provider and working with an iMac with Mavericks 10.9.5 as the operating system and iPhone 6 with IOS 8.2

    Hey dagored,
Thanks for the question. I would recommend completing the two-step verification process and then changing the SMS number associated once you upgrade:

Or you can opt to complete the process and then turn two-step verification off completely:

  • Two-step verification is not available in "Passwords and Security" as it should be

In order to activate two-step verification for my apple account I was told to log in at appleid.apple.com, go to "Passwords and Security" and locate "Two step verification".
It is not there. I answer the security questions, I can change my password, set a rescue email, change my security questions, but no "two-step verification".
I live in Romania, does that have anything to do with it? Are my people not worthy of extra security yet?

2-step verification is not available in Romania as yet. There isn't any information about roll-out to countries in which it's not yet available.

  • Gmail won't work in Mail with two step verification.

I have been hacked several times with google's email service by people in China and I decided to try their two step verification to add some security. But when I try to add the account on my mac mail list it says that it is offline and the app specific password doesn't work. I have changed the app specific password three times and all of them don't work. Please help!

Eliminate Mail by testing in Postbox and MailMate. Both have demos.
    http://www.postbox-inc.com/
    http://freron.com
If you cannot set an app specific password for these apps then the problem is with your account. It's difficult to actually get Gmail support so your best option might be to delete this account. Set up a new account with two step authentication immediately.
You also have other options for getting a free email account. Set up an Apple iCloud email or get an Outlook.com (previously Hotmail.com, Live.com, MSM.com).
Whatever you do you need to do the two step authentication.

  • Two-finger pinch zoom not working with safari

Suddenly, the two-finger pinch to zoom is not working with Safari. MBP 13", SL 10.6.8 andf Safari 5.1. The View Menu Zoom control works fine, and the Pinch gesture works once thereafter, but then not. I have reloaded the Safari .plist. Gesture works with the Desktop icons and iPhoto. Any suggestions?
    TIA
    Picman

    Ditto with the Newsstand-blocks-the-Home-Screen bug.
I was eager to see the revised New York Times layout and disappointed when Newsstand wouldn't pinch closed.
The irony is, we can finally "hide" the Newsstand in a folder but now it takes over our Home Screens. I'm hoping this will be fixed in the first update.

  • How does two step verification work with an iPad?

Two step verification seems to require an iPhone for the code - can it be set up for an iPad?

  • What apps are not covered under two-step verification?

I am trying to determine if I need to create an app-specific password, in addition to the two-step verification that I just completed.  However, I won't bother if I don't need to worry about it.

If you don't see your devices listed it means that they either are using a different Apple ID for iCloud than the ID you are setting up two-step verification on, or they don't have Find My iPhone turned on in Settings>iCloud.  Make sure you are managing the same ID that you are using for iCloud on your devices, and that Find My iPhone is turned on on your devices.  You should then see them listed and be able to verify them.
You can enter a phone number for any cell phone that can receive SMS messages to verify that as a trusted device, even if it isn't listed.

  • Flash not working in Safari 5

Flash has been buggy for me in Safari 5, ever since I updated the Flash player last week to "10.1 r53". Either Flash files don't play at all, or just the audio plays without video.
Per the instructions on these boards, I have:
    1. reset Safari
    2. uninstalled flash player
    3. installed the flash player
    4. repaired permissions
    5. restarted
The issue is still there. Firefox plays Flash files, YouTube, etc. just fine. Safari does not.
I'm running SL 10.6.4, latest Software Updates.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

I created a new account. Flash works in the new account. That's cool, but I really don't want to re-locate all my prefs, etc., just for a buggy plugin.
    So, I next...
    1. grabbed the Safari plist from the new account
    2. logged out of the new account
    3. logged into the old account (where Flash does not work)
    4. moved the old account's com.apple.safari plist file out of the Preferences folder
    5. moved the clean Safari plist file (from the new account) into the Preferences folder
    6. reset and restarted Safari
    7. Flash worked...for about two minutes. I tested on YouTube, Vimeo and Google Analytics. Back to Flash not working in Safari.
I then tried repeating the earlier steps.
    1. reset Safari
    2. uninstall flash player
    3. install flash player
    4. repaired permissions
    5. restarted
    Still doesn't work.
Just one other thing to note: whenever I pull up a web page with Flash, I get a "file not found" error in Safari's activity monitor (link is below)...could this be an error with Adobe's website rather than a Safari-permission thing?
