Two System Upgrade vs One System Upgrade  (12.1.0.1.0 - 12.1.0.2.0)

Hi ppl
I have installed Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c Release 12.1.0.1.0 and i want to upgrade to 12.1.0.2
When i run runInstaller i choose "upgrade an existing Enterprise Manager System" but the only option available is "Two System Upgrade" "One System Upgrade" is not available.
It's ok to run this instead of "one system" ?
What is the difference ? and Why One sysetm is not available
Note
both EM 12.1.0.1.0 and DB 11.2.0.2 are installed in the same VM

Hi ,
If you are upgrading from em 12.1.0.1 to 12.1.0.2 we just have 1-system upgarde option avaliable. The installer will show you both the options but later down the 1 screen it will throw a warning to go back and select 1-system upgrade option
If you are upgarding from 10205/11 to 12.1.0.2 you have 1-system adn 2-system upgarde option.
read this:
EM 12.2Upgrade guide avaliable:

  • Two Message Servers in one System

    Dear all.
I learned from http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/84/54953fc405330ee10000000a114084/content.htm that one SAP system has one central instance which contains one message server. But our system seems to have two message servers.
Our system ID is "ABC". When I open the SAP Management Console, there are three children nodes under our system: One blue database icon named "ABC" and two green icons named "ABC 14" and "ABC 31". Under "ABC 14", there are nodes "ABAP WP Table" and "J2EE Processes Table". In addition, there's a "Process List" node here. The processes include "msg_server.exe", "disp+work.exe", and "igswd.exe". Under "ABC 31", there's no "ABAP WP Table" or"J2EE Processes Table". There's only one node "Process List". It contains "msg_server.exe" and "enserver.exe".
    My questions are:
    1. What are "ABC 14" and "ABC 31"?
    2. Does "ABC 14" contains at least two instances? One is for Java and another is for ABAP?
    3. What's the role of "ABC 31"? It seems to only contain enque server and message server.
    4. Why are there two message servers in a single system "ABC"? One is under "ABC 14" and another is under "ABC 31".
    Thanks + Best Regards
    Jerome

    Hi Sunil,
Thanks a lot for the clarification. Just have a little bit confusion left.
    1. Since there're two message servers, may I say that there are two central instances? Or these message servers belong to a single central instance?
    2. There's no "enserver.exe" in ABAP instance. So is the "enserver.exe" in the JAVA instance also responsible for the ABAP enque and deque operations?
    Thanks + Best Regards

  • How to install two oracle database on one system

i want to install two oracle databases on single system how it is possible
how i can manager oracle home and is this possible to install two different version of oracle in single home or single system forexample oracle 9 and oracle 8 .
    A.R

    Hi,
yes, u can have more databases on a single machine and they can be of different versions.
You have to use and initialize the correct ORACLE_HOME to create the DB of the version U use.
For ex, u have 2 homes:
    C:\Oracle\Ora817 8i home and C:\Oracle\ora920 9i home
Normally, using OFA, imagine that You want create 2 db, TEST_8I for 8i home and TEST_9I for the 9i home, You shold have:
    C:\Oracle\Admin\TEST_8I\<<OFA DIRS>> and C:\Oracle\Oradata\TEST_8I for 8i DB adn C:\Oracle\Admin\TEST_9I\<<OFA DIRS>> and C:\Oracle\Oradata\TEST_9I for the 9i version.
It is important, when You create the DB, that u use the executables of C:\Oracle\Ora817\bin to create 8i db and C:\Oracle\Ora920\bin for the 9i one.
Then U can use the 9i listener to manage both instances
    Hope this helps

    Gyan

    Hi Gyan,
The installation guides and documentation will give you the information you need.
Basis administration is not easy work and it requires study.  Asking for shortcuts on SDN is not a substitute for that work.  The main reason you have not received further replies to this thread is that it is inappropriate for you to ask and expect "shorcut" instructions from professionals who have "paid their own dues" through study and hard work.  I would also think that your employer might think twice if they understood that a Forum was where they were going to receive their instructions for a complex, technical implementation.
We are not "wasting our time" with such replies, rather we are trying to ensure successful implementations of SAP.
    Best Regards,
    Matt

Hi there, I have a 2009 Macbook - running on OS X V.10.6.8... but I'm looking at upgrading the Operating System to V.10.10. Will your latest version of LIghtroom (the one I can currently get a free one month trial of from your site) work with Apple's latest operating system - Yosemite V.10.10? Or will LR only work with V.10.7, 10.8 or 10.9?
    Thanks, Seamus

Hey, problem solved. One of the drives was faulty. I erased the 2nd drive (which was showing up as the degraded raid slice), deleted the RAID set and restored the 2nd drive from a back-up disk image. After that, when I booted using 'option' I was presented with two boot disks but only one that worked. And when it did boot  up only the reformatted disk was showing in Diskutil so I'm guessing the second one is knackered. With it still in place the server still wouldn't boot up from a full shutdown, but the moment it was removed it booted up no probs. Wakes up from sleep as well so it seems sorted.
So now just need to decide whether I'll bother with replacing the second drive or just use an external back-up. I have just bought a 1TB drive to back up to so will probably just go with that.
Btw, is there anyway I can test the drive I removed to see if can be saved?
Thanks for all your help. Your siamese twin comment was the push I need to erase the drive, I'd be holding off before that.

  • Can anyone offer some advice i am looking to upgrade the OS system on one of my macbook pro's, currently running os10.4.11, I would like to upgrade to OS10.5? how would I go about this, and is there a cost, for what is an old operating system now?

Since your Mac probably came with 10.4, there is no longer a way to get 10.5 Leopard install media. IF it has the requirements, you may be able to upgrade to 10.6 Snow Leopard by buying the boxed install media at the Apple Store for $30.

General support can be found here: http://www.apple.com/support/snowleopard/

  • I have a macbook 4.1 with osx10.6.8 and just added memory (2gig) so I could sync my new Ipome and Ipad.  and Ipad. Now I'm told I need to upgrade my operating system. The apple store gave me conflicting instructions. Any suggestions? Thanks

I have a macbook 4.1 with osx10.6.8 and just added memory (2gig) so I could sync my new IPhone and Ipad. Now I'm told at the apple store that I need to upgrade my operationg system. They said they couldn't help and gave me conflicting advice about what to do. Any ideas? Thanks you!

There are three models of MacBook that comprise the 'macbook 4.1' category, and each of them a little different; however other than 'macbook 4.1' the other thing they have in common is they all are considered Early 2008. Two are white, one black, polycarbonate case, Core2Duo 2.1GHz, 2.4GHz white, 2.4GHz black.
So if you can determine which one, if any of these, is the model build year and spec you have, that would be handy. Did you tell whoever you spoke to the serial number of your computer, so they'd know by looking up the specs to see what the supported maximum RAM upgrade capacity was, and other minimum requirements to make any upgrade to Mac OS X 10.6.8 at all?
If you have the serial number you can do a lookup to 'indentify by serial number' online, and use that information to determine if the computer needs even more RAM to take it past the minimum for Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and then get it ready to upgrade (via paid download from App Store, Snow Leopard gets you that far) and see what the next supported OS X full upgrade would be for the hardware limitations on that old MacBook.
If your MacBook IS a 4.1 build, the highest OS X it could run if it has the 2.4GHz cpu, is Lion 10.7.5. That would be an upgrade from the App store, available to OS X 10.6.8+ computers that access it online. And I kind of doubt how supported a newest iphone etc may be in lion.
everymac.com has a fair amount of information across many years of Apple computing hardware...
Here's the three MacBooks that share the 4.1 designation; first shipped with as much as 1GB RAM upgrade and the other two only a 2GB RAM*, (one white/one black color) according to this information...
    • MacBook "Core 2 Duo" 2.1 13" (White-08) 2.1 GHz Core 2 Duo (T8100)
    • MacBook "Core 2 Duo" 2.4 13" (White-08) 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo (T8300)
    • MacBook "Core 2 Duo" 2.4 13" (Black-08) 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo (T8300)
    ...as seen here: http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook/index-macbook.html
*But according to MacTracker (free: download database) http://mactracker.ca
these MacBooks can use more RAM in aftermarket specs as much as:
    Maximum Memory
6.0 GB (Actual) 4.0 GB (Apple)
    Memory Slots
    2 - 200-pin PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM
To get more information use a service such as this...
    •identify by serial number:
    http://www.powerbookmedic.com/identify-mac-serial.php
The Apple? store or whoever you talked, to may have been as accurate as they could be without further research. Could be you may have a newer or older MacBook, which would change whatever later OS X it could run past 10.6.8. And to go past Snow Leopard, you need to download the last bits for 10.6.x to be able to go and get any later upgrade. The ones that may let a newest iphone or ipad work with it, are past SL10.6.8
Anyway, as you further verify the model build year and configuration specifications, report back.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • When I open iPhoto 9.2.1 it says that my library needs to be upgraded but when I upgrade the library I am trying to open (33 GB worth of pictures from 2006) the new application says it cannot read the files and how to find them on the system to reimport?!

When I open iPhoto 9.2.1 it says that my library needs to be upgraded but when I upgrade the library I am trying to open (33 GB worth of pictures from 2006) the new application says it cannot read the files and how to find them on the system to reimport?! and then I'd like to erase the original files since the space requirement is huge!!!! Why is upgrading software iPhoto such a pain. I've gotta get a presentation done and all I get for my money is roadblock!!!

hello, it sounds like the library is damaged.
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • I want to uninstall my version of adobe elements 11 in order to upgrade my operating system and then re-install. I have the original disk but not the code or registration info - where can I find it or how can I contact someone who can help me?

Do I have to alert adobe if I'm moving my product from one computer to another? or will they recognise my intentions when my product is removed from their database?

Is there a way to export my movie timeline (as in the organisation of my
clips, not just the movie)  to a external hard drive. I thought publish
would help but I'm unsure and the export button under file doesn't light
up. I'm using Elements 11 and I'm trying to save it to a hard drive so I
can unistall the program, upgrade my operating system and reinstall.

    Hi ..
    Better to troubleshoot Yosemite.
Not enough free storage space can slow your Mac down.
Click your Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac > More Info > Storage. Make sure there's at least 15% free disk space.   OS X Tips Where did my Disk Space go?
As for Safari, might be a cookies, cache, extensions, or plug-ins issue.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
    Click:   Remove All Website Data
    Then delete the cache.
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that didn't help, from the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect:  Allow plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.

  • UPGRADE THE PLM SYSTEM FROM NWBC 731 TO NWBC 740

         Hello,
We want to Upgrade our PLM system from NWBC 731 to NWBC 740, for this it is better to have a SANBOX system to upgrade there first the NWBC740 and do some tests. And if everything is in order to Upgrade in the same time the DEV and TEST system?
Do you now a better way to do such an upgrade?
         Thanks in advance,
         Florin Bosorogan

    Hello Florin
Transporting across different BASIS releases is generally not a good practice and this is one of the main reasons why SAP insists on having the systems on the SAP landscape on the same release and patch level.
There shouldn't be a big gap in the time for starting the upgrade on the test system.
If the upgrade on the development system went fine then I would start the upgrade on the test system immediately.
I wouldn't basically let the development team transport the developments created after the development upgrade to the remaining systems in the landscape (especially production) until I complete the upgrade on the production system. The upgrade process is a planned activity.
Yes transporting a transport request across different releases is possible and SAP has their recommendations for that.
If there is a need to transport some emergency changes to the other system then it should done after consulting with the ABAP team about the possible impact on the system.
    Regards
    RB
