Two-way chatroom?
Hi, I'm relatively new to Java, so I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing. What I am TRYING to do is use sockets to make essentially a two-way chat where each person can send and receive messages at the same time. Below is the code which has gotten me the closest, but what it does is it waits for the person to send the message before receiving any new ones.
For example:
Person A types "hello" and presses enter.
Person B would see nothing.
Person B types "hi" and presses enter.
NOW Person B sees A's "hello" AND A sees B's "hi."
I guess what must be happening is it's getting stalled on sending a message instead of executing the receiving command at the same time. Any ideas on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.
Here is the client side:
import java.net.*;
import java.io.*;
public class myClient
public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception
BufferedReader inFromUser=new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(System.in));
System.out.print("IP: ");
String server=inFromUser.readLine();
Socket socket=new Socket(server,9999);
DataOutputStream outToServer=new DataOutputStream(socket.getOutputStream());
BufferedReader inFromServer=new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(socket.getInputStream()));
while(true)
receive(socket, outToServer, inFromUser, inFromServer);
send(socket, outToServer, inFromUser, inFromServer);
public static void send(Socket socket, DataOutputStream outToServer, BufferedReader inFromUser, BufferedReader inFromServer) throws Exception
System.out.print("You: ");
String outGoingMessage;
if((outGoingMessage=inFromUser.readLine())!=null)
outToServer.writeBytes(outGoingMessage+'\n'+'\n');
public static void receive(Socket socket, DataOutputStream outToServer, BufferedReader inFromUser, BufferedReader inFromServer) throws Exception
String incomingMessage;
if((incomingMessage=inFromServer.readLine())!=null)
System.out.println("Server: "+incomingMessage);
And the server:
import java.net.*;
import java.io.*;
public class myServer
public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception
String line;
BufferedReader in;
PrintStream out;
InetAddress ip=InetAddress.getLocalHost();
System.out.println("Your IP is: "+ip.getHostAddress());
ServerSocket welcomeSocket=new ServerSocket(9999);
Socket connectionSocket=welcomeSocket.accept();
DataOutputStream outToServer=new DataOutputStream(connectionSocket.getOutputStream());
BufferedReader inFromUser=new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(System.in));
BufferedReader inFromServer=new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(connectionSocket.getInputStream()));
while(true)
send(connectionSocket, outToServer, inFromUser, inFromServer);
receive(connectionSocket, outToServer, inFromUser, inFromServer);
public static void send(Socket socket, DataOutputStream outToServer, BufferedReader inFromUser, BufferedReader inFromServer) throws Exception
String outGoingMessage;
System.out.print("You: ");
if((outGoingMessage=inFromUser.readLine())!=null)
outToServer.writeBytes(outGoingMessage+'\n'+'\n');
public static void receive(Socket socket, DataOutputStream outToServer, BufferedReader inFromUser, BufferedReader inFromServer) throws Exception
String incomingMessage;
if((incomingMessage=inFromServer.readLine())!=null)
System.out.println("Client: "+incomingMessage);
Thanks so much for any help!

Help with getting Web Start working with two-way SSL
I have successfully transferred data (myclient.jnlp) utilizing web browsers (IE and Mozilla) from my web server (which is set up for two-way SSL "CLIENT-CERT" required) after using the browser's utility to "import" my client-side cert (in .p12 format).
After the browser connects and downloads the "myclient.jnlp" contents and places it in a temporary file, it then kicks off the javaws process with the temporary file as a parameter. The first thing javaws does is utilize the codebase and href values (found in the temporary file) to make a "GET" call to the server for the "myclient.jnlp" file (again).
However, this fails (with a SSL handshake error) since javaws uses a different keystore than IE - the server does not receive the client-side cert. I have imported the root CA and the client cert (in .pem format) into the $JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/security/cacerts file using the keytool command but alas my server still indicates a lack of a client-side cert.
Has anyone else tried this and got it working?Hi Richard,
Indeed it appears that the 1.5 version will have more built-in capability for client certs. It has the look of the IE browser import capability. Unfortunately, I am stuck with having to utilize 1.4.2 for the time being. Since I have posted my original message I have found more information but have yet to get it all working. The truststore in javaws 1.4.2 does have a default (the 1.4.2 jre's cacert file - stragely enough not the same one that gets updated when you import the root CA! - but this has been noted in many other threads). The javaws keystore does not have a default and I have tried, to no avail yet, to utilize some command line parameters, see http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/security/jsse/JSSERefGuide.html#Customization - to get my client cert "available" and recognized by javaws.
With the help of some debug flags here is the output on my javaws "output" log - all seems to go well up to the point of the client's Certificate chain (which appears to be empty), after the ServerHelloDone :
trustStore is: C:\j2sdk1.4.2_04\jre\lib\security\cacerts
trustStore type is : jks
init truststore

snipped all the regular trusted certs, left my root CA as proof it is recognized...

Two-way SSL: Private key is incorrectly read if the charset is set to UTF8
Looks like PEMInputStream and other related classes assumes the application charset
"iso81", but if the charset is something else, then "java.security.KeyManagementException"
is thrown.
We have everything setup and two-way ssl works when the encoding is not set. but
brakes if the encoding is UTF8.
WLS 7.0
OS - HP-UX
Is there any other workaround (not setting UTF8 is not a solution, ours is a WW
app).
ThanksI would suggest posting this to the security newsgroup.

Can I add a two way trusted but in different forest domain to My existing Lync 2013 Topology !
HI !
We have an installed Lync 2013 Std Edt. setup and its working perfectly for one domain. Our network infrastructure ( LAN ) is being shared with our sister company. They have their own forest and domain and a two ways trust relationship with our domain. I
want to add them in our Lync 2013 topology, is it possible ?? if yes, thn what are the requirements and which changes i need to consider.
Response from experts would be greatly appreciated.Yes, You must establish a two-way trust between the central forest and user forests to enable distribution group expansion when groups from user forests are synchronized as contacts to the central forest.
Also you can refer below link

Hi,
I want to consume a Java Web service from Dotnet based client Application. The service require one Certificate("abc.PFX") for Two Way SSL purpose and another certificate("xyz.pfx") for WS security purpose to be passed from client Application(Dotnet
Console based). I tried configuring the App.config of Client application to pass both the certs but getting Error says:
Could not establish secure channel for SSL/TLS with authority "******aaaa.com"
Please suggest how to pass both the certs from client Application..Hi,
This problem can be due to an Untrusted certificate. So you need just full permissions to certificates.
And for more information, you could refer to:

TWO WAY Sync is grayed out. Cannot two way synchronize BB.
Outlook. BB.
When attempting to Configure Synchronization Settings for ASC II importer/exporter, the only options given are ONE WAY Synchronization either to or from the device. The one I want to pick:
TWO WAY Sync is grayed out.
How can I ungray the two way sync to be able to sync my outlook/tasks/address/tasks.
I will synchronization with a USB port, not through a wireless connection.
Thanks for any help.Hi, When using software Desktop manager to do a backup and/or restore, I have to disable the wireless syncrhonisation in the blackberry first to enable the 2 ways sync. Usualy, you can not use wireless and usb cable sync., so as an example, let`s say you want to sync the adress book. go into your blackberry and into your adress book application and press the "application" button, go into "Options" and change Wireless synchronisation to "No"
After that you should see the 2 ways sync.
When completed, do not forget to put back the wireless synchronisation to "Yes" to enable it back.
hope that helps.

Hi All,
we have enabled 2 way SSL in weblogic, we have one Admin Server and one managed (soa) server version 11.1.1.5
steps we have followed:
we have imported identity certificate and key file to a custom identity store
improted trust certificates to a custom trust keystore
in weblogic consile: soa_server1-> keystires : we have updated custom identity and trust details
in weblogic consile: soa_server1-> ssl - we have updated required custom identity details and selected " Client Certs Requested And Enforced" for Two Way Client Cert Behavior.
but while testing our process we are getting below error:
we have tried openssl to test the connectivity but not sure about the output, is there any way to trace the SSL connection?
any input will be really helpful.

How to pass data back to MS CRM online from Azure SB with two-way listener?
Hi all,
I have already setup the integration between MSCRM Online 2015 and Azure using two-way listener. However, I am unable to retrieve the return string "Success" in MSCRM side, such as System Jobs. Anyone has idea? Thanks.
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg334438.aspx
public string Execute(RemoteExecutionContext context)
Utility.Print(context);
return "Success";
Best Regards,
GaryHello Gary,
From my understanding, Azure integration with Microsoft Dynamics CRM works as follow:
A registered Azure aware plugin sends the execution context to an Azure service bus
A listener process the message as they are queued by the Azure service bus
If the listener is a two way listener, then the listener may return a string response to the plugin
The plugin receive the response and process it
So you need both an Azure aware plugin and a listener. The Azure aware plugin is responsible for sending the execution context and process the response. In your case, you would want the plugin to write the response using the tracing service.
I think you registered the default Azure aware plugin which only sends the execution context. You need to implement your own Azure aware plugin in order to process the response. the sample Plug-ins project located in SampleCode\CS\Azure\Plug-ins implements
exactly what you want to achieve.
I hope this answer will help you. -
Two-way or only one-way syncing between G4 and mobile??
I have a Sony Ericcsson k750i mobile. When I first got it, I went through my Address Book (on my powerbook) and sorted it all out and synced with the phone (so all the numbers in the Address Book transfered to the phone). No problem. But now, if I sync, with isync, any numbers / names I have saved in the phonebook of the phone (say, I meet someone new when I'm out and take their number, put it directly in my phone) are erased. The sync, therefore, is ONE WAY, from the powerbook to the phone. Any new entries on the phone are scrapped.
Is there a way to avoid this happening? I looked in isync but I don't find. It's a pretty stupid system if you can't have a two-way street when you're syncing.
Any ideas much appreciatedHow? Does isync say something like, "There are contacts / numbers on your phone which are not in your Address Book. Do you want to copy them there?" to which you would reply Yes?
How do you do it? -
Two ways to get dynamic text into my s:RichEditableText
font styling doesnt work with..
textFlow="{TextConverter.importToFlow( articleText, TextConverter.TEXT_FIELD_HTML_FORMAT )}"
images dont work with..
textFlow="{TextFlowUtil.importFromString(articleTe xt)}
the problem is one way shows the images i have in img tags the other shows text styles shown with
<p fontSize="20" fontFamily="GillSansStd" color="#ffffff">Welcome...</p>
<br /><br />
…and congratulations<img src='../creative/assets/trinidad.jpg' width="100" height="200" align="top"/>
Really appreciate any helpful postings with understanding why there are two ways and which is better or another way entirely.
thanksIt's hard to tell what's going wrong without more information. There are two different ways to do it so that you have flexibility in how you set it up. If you are starting from markup, then I think importToFlow is probably the easier way to go. But if you already have a TextFlow, for example because you have programmatically constructed it, then you can use the second
For the importToFlow method, the first thing to check is whether you got a null TextFlow back from importToFlow. This can happen if errors are encountered during the import (for example, invalid XML). If you are getting a null TextFlow, you can figure out why changing slightly how you call importToFlow. Instead of invoking it directly on the TextConverter, do this:
var importer:ITextImporter = TextConverter.getImporter(TextConvert.TEXT_LAYOUT_FORMAT);
importer.throwOnError = true;
var textFlow:TextFlow = importer.importToFlow(articleText);
This will result in an exception being thrown when the error is encountered.
Hope this helps,

Create a two-way link (using AppleScript?) in Numbers '09
We are migrating to iWork '09 for our business needs and seek an Applescript expert to advise us as follows.
Our team has successfully used VBA in Excel for Mac 2004 to "two-way link" two cells in differing spreadsheets such that anything entered in cell 1 shows up in cell 2 and vice versa. However, neither Excel for Mac 2008 (which most of our company uses) nor Numbers supports VBA, and Numbers seems like the best overall app to use IF we can get two cells to link as described. Typical formulas do not work as a cell cannot be both an input and an output cell.
Please advise or help!
Thank you,

Thank you Yvan. We are grateful for your lengthy response and your suggested script. There are a few things to clarify before we can take a next step with that script.
1. We are planning to have not just two documents, but many documents. When we share these Numbers documents on a network drive or Dropbox, the entire setup will become a project management tool. We will have a "master" document as well as "project-specific" documents in this setup, all linked together by the script or scripts in question and housed in different folders.
I really dislike working with documents stored on a network.
It's more safe to work with a local file and store it on the network when it's OK.
The "master" document will allow the general manager to see and enter data that shows up in "project-specific" documents. On the other hand, data entered in specific cells in the "project-specific" documents will show up in the manager's "master."
If I understand well,
rangeA of cells of the 'master' doc are shared with document A
rangeB of cells of the 'master' doc are shared with document B
rangeZ of cells of the 'master' doc are shared with document Z
as well as
rangeA of cells of document A are shared with the 'master' doc
rangeB of cells of the document B are shared with the 'master' doc
rangeZ of cells of the document Z are shared with the 'master' doc
It's important that this functionality operate not only with open documents; this should be able to function also when only one of the linked documents, master or otherwise, is in use. Is that possible?
It would require that the script is aware of the exact location of every document.
2. We understand the limitation you describe: either a predefined (hardcoded) cell in the script OR the same location in the target document.
3. Once we have a script that performs as described above, we actually don't know what to do with it: we're brand new to Applescript but have used Macs for many years. Given our unfamiliarity with the use of such scripts, please advise, or point us to a resource: then what? How is such a script applied to a Numbers document or a series of documents? Or do we set it up such that it always runs when Numbers runs, and if so, how? What is the procedure?
Using a script running in the background would not be safe to capture cells selection.
I thought that I was clear when I wrote:
+Given two open documents whose names are defined by the property theDocs,+
+enter a value in a cell on one of them.+
+With the cell selected, call the script.+
+It will copy the entered value in the same cell of the other document.+
In the original script, when one script is filled and selected,
it's your duty to call the script.
--[SCRIPT]
The embedded properties describe a master document
and several subscriber documents.
One describe the ranges of cells dedicated to each subscriber.
These ranges are of this format: {topRow, leftColumn, bottomRow, rightColumn}
In the open document, fill the range of cells dedicated to one document.
Select this range.
Call the script.
It will copy the selected range in the same range of the target document.

MBAM 2.5 in Multi-Forest with two way trust
Hi All,
If we have two forests with two way trust, say A and B. If MABM 2.5 is setup in domain A and the urls used in the GPO of domain B to make the clients report to MABM. What additional steps do we need to take to ensure all functionality work fine namely
- Users from domain B logging in to the self service of MBAM. How will the authentication work? Do we need to add All users from Domain B to any group?
- Also I read that the Self Service website should not be hosted over the internet as per Microsoft. Why is it?
Thanks in Advance,
Regards,
VijayYou have to define the group policies in all of the domains where the client resides and place the MBAM Web server in the root domain. Make sure the client can access the MBAM service endpoints. If clients can access the endpoints, you only need to define
the MBAM GPO's to the domain where client resides.

Error message saying "unable to establish two-way communication with device"
I have an HP C309a printer/scanner/fax. I have recently reconfigured it to work wirelessly instead of via the USB cable, which it does. But if I try to go on to the HP Solution Centre/Settings/Printer Toobox to clean the printheads, it tells me that this cannot be done because "the computer cannot establish two-way communication with the device".
If I plug the USB cable back in, I can clean the printheads fine.
Does anyone have a way of allowing me to clean the printheads without using the USB cable?
rogerHi rogercorke,
I believe you can also clean the printhead from the printer control screen. Press the Wrench button from the printer Home screen and then press Tools>Clean Printhead.
If you need to use this feature wirelessly, try running the HP network diagnostic utility on your wireless setup and see what it says: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?cc=us&lc=en&jumpid=ex_r4155/en/hho/ipg/foru...

Two way Asynchronous business process for Webservice to JDBC scenario
Hi Experts,
For the webservice to JDBC scenario, I have to use two way Asynchronous business process. Is it possible?
Scenario : Webservice to JDBC -> Async Call
JDBC to Webservice -> Async Call
I have already done with two way Synchronous. Here I would like to know about only Async call. Please provide your suggestions.
Is it recommended to use Async call when we have Synchronous option?
For the above requirement I have to create two separate services and in BPM, I have to call one by one..Is it correct?
Regards
Sara
Edited by: Sara D on Dec 18, 2007 8:05 AMhi sara,
yes it is possible.
In receiver channel JDBC we have a special parameter "Exactly Once Handling " which is to assure async incoming data to be written only once to avoid redundancy.
Although Synchronous is "Best Effort" but it is considered to be "Worst Case". We can use Sync but try to use Async as much as possible to ensure system performance.
Ques : For the above requirement I have to create two separate services and in BPM, I have to call one by one..Is it correct?
yup you have to create two services and you are following right path but this scenario should be in two steps seperately.

Two way WCF Service with default response
Hello All,
I have one schema that i need to expose as a WCF-Service. However, i want to send a response back to the caller (default response). This is just to acknowledge the caller.
Now how to create a two-way service that sends a default response always?
I can do this by creating a new response schema and defaut some value for that particualr field.
But without creating the response schema, is that possible to send response back to the caller?
Thanks
SKGuruHi
I was reading
this article.
As per my understanding ,I would try following
Create a request schema
Create a response schema ( any basic structure just a template to publish)
Use the Wizard to publish the schema
I would use my service operation method as "two way"
I will select the request schema as Request
It will select the response schema as response
It will generate a request response, two way receive port
I will write a custom pipeline to generate a blank response and try to configure it on the response. I think as per the notes we can configure the custom pipelines as notes says:
When using the wizard to create receive locations, the wizard creates the receive locations using the default values. The default value for the receive pipeline is the
Microsoft.BizTalk.DefaultPipelines.PassThruReceive pipeline. If messages received through the published WCF services require any special pipeline processing (for example, validation, correlation/property promotion, or inbound/outbound maps)
then you should set the receive pipeline to Microsoft.BizTalk.DefaultPipelines.XMLReceive, or to a custom pipeline by using the BizTalk Administration console.
I will try this and let you know.
