Type casting or something of the sort
This might sound stupid, but I have a 25 character something such as:
1hjfu7y4$y*3fji2389561##k
and I do not know what type it is. It is not a string though, and that is the problem. Is there any sort of equivalent in AS to type casting of c++? Some sort of way to dynamically make this into a string?

Not quite on topic, but:
There's a funksome program called 7mimic that lets you rip all the bitmaps & scripts from FF7 (Playstation only) - what shocked me most was that nearly all the backgrounds are 320 x 240, yet even on my massive TV they still look totally smooth. I know that TV is by nature a bit fuzzy, but to fill my screen they're blown up around 10x!

BTW - what features do things like maya and lightwave have that blender doesn't? There's ony a couple of things I've seen that aren't in blender:
Colouring the wireframe (very useful)

Latitude & Longitude string to number through type cast
In my application i am saving the data ( 78°20.54 E )coming from gps in tdms format in the pc.
There are many such strings to save , so as this takes more memory to save the data in pc i want to type case in floating and save .
I am typecasting But i am not able to retrive the same data 78°20.54 E while again type casting .

You might want to better explain exactly what you want.
Do you want "78°20.54" to be 78.3423 (I'm assuming after the ° is minutes)? Then have E be positive and W be negative?

Is there any real difference between the 'array to cluster' function and simply type casting to a cluster? The image below shows a simple example. Aside from providing the names of each cluster element, the type cast function automatically sets the cluster size, which is a nice feature when working with a typedef. I am really wondering whether there is any downside to type casting when the array and cluster elements are the same data type.

Go to Solution.Type Cast man knows where I live, so my opinion is biased. When I have to make such a conversion, which is practically never, but not equal to never, then I go with the Type Cast. You hit the biggest points, meaningful labels and the ease of going from six to seven to eleven elements with the Type Def. When I do this conversion it is typically because I need to do some property magic which arrays do not allow (all elements must share properties except value). Creating a control from the Array to Cluster function is let's say a Clusterflop, from the Type Cast, exactly what I am looking for. Besides, that Array to Cluster function obfuscates code, is always left at 9 elements, and otherwise needs to go away, or at least do this:

Reading a binary file using the type cast function is not working

I am trying to read a binary file. Using the Read from binary file and type cast functions I can actually get the information from the file.
I set an indicator in the “Normal” option in Properties. I can read the header and footer but not the body of the file; For the body of the file all I can see is characters of the type
“C¾ Ü Qþ X@ “. One of the other options, Password, seems to provide an output of just the characters that were originally written, but then again, I can not read the characters because it is only asterisks and I can not copy them onto a word processor either.
I tried setting the indicator in Hexadecimal mode, then creating a local variable that acts as a control and use the type cast function again to see if could convert the Hexadecimal string to readable ASCII characters; unfortunately, this did not work either.
I don’t know what else I should try or if there is something that I may not be doing right and for that reason I am not getting the desired results. I hope someone has an idea about this issue.

Well, actually I don’t have any information about this file. I will try to obtain information about it though.
This is a file that contains velocity information; there are 65 channels that form a velocity profile in a pipe. Also, there are 4096 velocity profiles. I don’t know what is the format of these values.
The software that creates the file provides a text file. Using this text file the velocity information can be processed and then plotted.
I want to avoid all these intermediate steps and read, process and plot everything using only LabView. BTW, I am using LabView 8.2

See below if the search engine setting was changed without your knowledge and you can't change it back.
You installed the "Genieo/InstallMac" rootkit. The product is a fraud, and the developer knowingly distributes an uninstaller that doesn't work. I suggest the tedious procedure below to disable Genieo. This procedure may leave a few small files behind, but it will permanently deactivate the rootkit (as long as you never reinstall it.)
Malware is constantly changing to get around the defenses against it. The instructions in this comment are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
Back up all data. You must know how to restore from a backup even if the system becomes unbootable. If you don't know how to do that, or if you don't have any backups, stop here and ask for guidance.
Step 1
In the Applications folder, there may (or may not) be an application named "Genieo". Genieo may be partially installed even if this item is absent. If it's present, select it and open the Finder Info window. If it shows that theVersion is less than 2.0, download and install the current version from the genieo.com website. This may seem paradoxical, since the goal is to remove it, but you'll be saving yourself some trouble as well as the risk of putting the system in an unusable state.
There should be another application in the same folder named "Uninstall Genieo". After updating Genieo, if necessary, launch "Uninstall Genieo" and follow the prompts to remove the "newspaper-style home page." Restart the computer.
This step does not completely inactivate Genieo.
Step 2
Don't take this step unless you completed Step 1, including the restart, without any error messages. If you didn't find the Genieo application, or if you couldn't complete Step 1 for any reason, stop here and ask for instructions.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

from the contextual menu.

Some of these items will be absent, in which case you'll get a message that the file can't be found. Skip that item and go on to the next one.
Restart and empty the Trash. Don't try to empty the Trash until you have restarted.
Step 3
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including ones called "Genieo" or "Omnibar," and any that have the word "Spigot" or "InstallMac" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
Your web browser(s) should now be working, and you should be able to reset the home page and search engine. If not, stop here and post your results.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install this software. Chances are you got it from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad has a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If youever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the Genieo developer has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing, has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight is inexcusable and has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.
Finally, be forewarned that when Genieo is mentioned on this site, the perpetrator of the scam sometimes shows up under the name "Genieo support." He will tell you to run the provided uninstaller. As he knows and intends, the uninstaller does not completely remove the malware. -
I just updated my iPhone 6 to IOS 8.3. My safari will not let me search anything. If I type in a website URL, the Go button is greyed out. If I type in something to search on google, I press Go and nothing happens. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I have been drawing items on two particular apps on my iPad, but I need to import some old school type writter style text alongside the image.
What is the best software or programme to do this?
I don't mind buying some good software
Basically I would like something in could draw with a stylus on ( or import these images from another app that I can do this on)
Then add bespoke text beside the image
Play about with positions, colours sizes etc
Has anyone tried any of the Wacom products??
These would all then be sent to printing company to print

When I type something in the Google or YouTube dialog box I can't tab backwards or edit the words. Cursor seems to get stuck and won't work.

Type casting problem in the JSP

I am type casting an Object variable to a interface Variable. I am not getting any error if i have the same code in the servlet but i am getting ClassCast Exception if i have the same code in the Scriplets part of the JSP.
The code is as follows

obj = context.lookup(strKey);
ContentBroker objCB = null;
objCB = (ContentBroker)obj; // Error is happening here
ContentBroker is an inteface.
I have included the jar files of ContentBroker in the classpath.
Can anyone please tell me how to eliminate this error.?

SaravananIn that case it's a classloader issue.
Since the object is bound in the context, I assume that you have made the class available to your server, and you have the class in WEB-INF/classes or in a jar inside WEB-INF/lib.
Since they're being loaded by two different classloaders, the classes are seen as different by the JVM, thus the ClassCastException.
Try removing the class from the web-app and let us know what happens.
BTW. Which servlet container are you using? -

AhmedIn its simplest explanation Type Cast allows you to reinterpret a series of bytes. The numeric conversion functions convert from one data type to another and essentially do the same thing that Type Cast does, albeit with just numbers. Type Cast allows you to extend this to convert one data type to another, beyond just numbers. Thus, you could convert an array of 2 U8 values into a single U16 number by using Type Cast like this:

How you use it is entirely up to you, but it is an extremely powerful function. What are you trying to do?

Yes, and I presume you mean both the search engine results, and the pages opened from the results.

Is there a way to type cast an array of strings to numbers and back again?
I'm working on an application where I want to type cast a string like "power supply" into an array of existing numbers. Then sort the existing numbers, and finally convert the casted numbers back into a string so it can be read by the user. In the attachment, you can see my latest attempt with flatten/unflatten data and the 'convert string to byte array'. I can't seem to make this work. Any ideas?
