Type of a field in select query

i have a query like this:
SELECT SINGLE (lwa_mat_attr-zattribute)
            FROM mara
            INTO lv_value
           WHERE matnr = <fs>-matnr.
can anyone tell me what would be the type of lv_value. because i have got a dump in the type declaration for lv_value

  • Dynamic field in select query

    Hi Team,
I have to select dynamic fields from database table GLT0.
This depends on period value given on screen.
If period is 01 then fields will be hsl01.
If period is 02 then fields will be hsl01 and hsl02.
If period is 03 then fields will be hsl01,hsl02 and hsl03 .
    so on...till 12..

    Hi Asik,
I m selecting all fields now as suggestd by u so in one record i have hsl01 to hsl12.
I have to calculate balance into e_glt0_bal-bal .This balance is summation of e_glt0_bal-hsl01 till  e_glt0_bal-hsl12 (depending on monat).
I m using logic in process then
    my code now :
    data:    w_monat_bal type string  .
              DO p_monat TIMES.
                MOVE c_01 TO w_count .
                CONCATENATE 'e_glt0_bal-hsl'
                             w_count
                       INTO w_monat_bal.
                ASSIGN w_monat_bal TO <fs_monat_bal>.
                e_glt0_bal-bal = e_glt0_bal-bal + <fs_monat_bal>.
                w_count = w_count + c_01.
              ENDDO.
But <fs_monat_bal> can not be added.
    Giving exception :
Unable to interpret "e_glt0_bal-hsl01" as a number.
If I do <fs_monat_bal> type GLT0-hslvt instead to type any
Then assigning from w_monat_bal  is not possible.

  • Update multiple fields using select query efficiently – 9i

I need to populate a table called prop_charact used for synching data to a legacy system.
Prop_charact has fields that are found in a few other tables (no one field is found in more than one table outside of prop_charact). I want to pull the data from the corresponding fields in the source tables and put it into prop_charact. I only want to populate prop_charact with records that have been updated, but want to pull all fields for those records (whether or not that field has been updated). I am getting the list of updated records from a transaction history table.
After getting that list, I was not sure what to do with it.
I put what I want to do in terms of strictly SQL. I am thinking there are more efficient (less system resources) ways of doing this, but I am not sure what to pursue. I can use PL/SQL, but please keep in mind I am limited to using version 9i. Anyone have any hints about what I should look into using instead of just thes particular SQL statements?

  • Secondary Index Picked with one field short in select query

    Hi,
We have a select query as follows
    select  single lgort       vgbel        vgpos
        into   (lips-lgort,lips-vgbel,lips-vgpos)
        from    lips
       where         vbeln          Eq p_zlcpp-vbeln
         and         matnr          Eq p_zlcpp-matnr
         and         charg          Eq p_zlcpp-charg
The secondary index ZB has the fields as follows:
    MANDT     Client
    MATNR     Material Number
    CHARG     Batch Number
    BWART     Movement Type (Inventory Management)
When seen in the trace it seems the select query picks this secondary index. Whether it is correct? since i find no BWART in the select query. Because of this index the query take large time. I used the Hint statement as follows:
    select  single lgort       vgbel        vgpos
        into   (lips-lgort,lips-vgbel,lips-vgpos)
        from    lips
       where         vbeln          Eq p_zlcpp-vbeln
         and         matnr          Eq p_zlcpp-matnr
         and         charg          Eq p_zlcpp-charg   %_HINTS ORACLE 'INDEX("LIPS" "LIPS~0")' .
and it now works fast. Please advice the best way to make the select query work on itself without using the hint statement to pick the index LIPS~0 instead of the invalid secondary index ZB.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Selvakumar M.
Edited by: Selva on Jun 17, 2011 7:35 PM

    Hello Selva,
your problem here is the decision of the optimizer that does not exactly know the selectivity of the fields.
If your deliveries are normally small (not too many items), then selecting via the document number will be relatively fast.
And selecting via the material number + batch will be slow in case if many deliveries are having same product from the same batch delivered.
I assume that the latest is the case in your system. That's why the selection with ZB index is slow.
If the data distribution is as I described above, then your hint is quite OK and I advise you to stick to the hint.
From my PoV this is the better solution rather changing the coding and throwing out MATNR field from the WHERE clause to filter later in ABAP.
Another solution would be trying to play with histograms. But you'll need %SUBSTITUTE VALUES% or %SUBSTITUTE LITERALS% hint anyway, so I find your solution better.
So, please stay with hint. Even SAP standard development does it for some select statements.
    Regards,
      Yuri

  • I need use conditions in the select fields of a query.

    Hello,
Is possible, that I can have conditions in the select fields of a query? In a invoice when the type is cancellation I want to put *-1 to price and if is other type the price is normally.
    If VBRK.FKART = 'S1' THEN KWERT*-1 else KWERT .
    Thank you very much.

    you can do two things:
    1. select the data into internal table and loop through the internal table and do the necessary changes
    SELECT fkart kwert
    FROM vbrk
    INTO TABLE itab
    WHERE ...
    LOOP AT itab.
    IF itab-fkart EQ 'S1'.
    itab-kwert = itab-kwert * -1 .
    MODIFY itab.
    ENDIF.
    ENDLOOP.
    2. use select-endselect and change the data acc. to your needs inbetween and append the internal table.
    SELECT fkart kwert
    FROM vbrk
    INTO wa
    WHERE ...
    IF wa-fkart EQ 'S1'.
    wa-kwert = wa-kwert * -1 .
    ENDIF.
    APPEND wa TO itab.
    ENDSELECT.
(The first approach is probably faster.)

  • How to use Field-symbol with dynamic select query

Can anybody tell me, how to use field-symbols in the dynamic select query.

    FIELD-SYMBOLS <fs> { typing | STRUCTURE struc DEFAULT dobj }.
    1. ... typing
    2. ... STRUCTURE struc DEFAULT dobj
The FIELD-SYMBOLS statement declares a field symbol <fs>. The name conventions apply to the name fs. The angle brackets of the field symbols indicate the difference to data objects and are obligatory. You can declare field symbols in any procedure and in the global declaration section of an ABAP program, but not in the declaration section of a class or an interface. You can use a field symbol in any operand position in which it is visible and which match the typing defined using typing.
After its declaration, a field symbol is initial - that is, it does not reference a memory area. You have to assign a memory area to it (normally using the ASSIGN statement) before you can use it as an operand. Otherwise an exception will be triggered.
    eg.
    FIELD-SYMBOLS <fs> TYPE ANY.
    DATA: BEGIN OF line,
            string1(10) VALUE '0123456789',
            string2(10) VALUE 'abcdefghij',
          END OF line.
    WRITE / line-string1+5.
    ASSIGN line-string1+5(*) TO <fs>.
    WRITE / <fs>.
    output:
    56789
    56789

  • How to add Material type(MTART) field on Selection screen of MB5B transaction code.

    Hi All,
Please let me know how to add material type field on selection screen of MB5B transaction
For that i made copy ZMB5B_COPY of original report RM07MLBD.
    Thanks in adv .
    Samadhan

    Hi,
Once you copied the standard report to Z report, you can MTART in selection screen like below.
and in order to inlcude the same in programming logic, we have three option.
    1) Check all related select queries, and include MTART in SELECT query using inner join with MARA.
    2) In START-OF-SELECTION event fill MATNR as shown below.
    3) If user entered any value in MTART, then before displaying the report just check material type of each material in the final internal table(which is used to display report) delete enteries from internal table accordingly.
    START-OF-SELECTION.
IF MTART[] IS NOT INITIAL AND MATNR[] IS INITIAL.
SELECT MATNR FROM MARA INTO MATNR-LOW WHERE MTART IN MTART.
          MATNR-OPTION = 'EQ'.
          MATNR-SIGN = 'I'.
          APPEND MATNR.
          CLEAR MATNR.
        ENDSELECT.
    ENDIF.
The above option has one limitation: The selection screen variables has some restriction, please read the below thread.
Facing problem in select statement dump DBIF_RSQL_INVALID_RSQL CX_SY_OPEN_S
Getting Dump in the select query has more than 2000 entries

  • How to create a Type Object with Dynamic select query columns in a Function

    Hi Every One,
I'm trying to figure out how to write a piplined function that executes a dynamic select query and construct a Type Object in order to assigned it to the pipe row.
    I have tried by
    SELECT a.DB_QUERY INTO actual_query FROM mytable a WHERE a.country_code = 'US';
    c :=DBMS_SQL.OPEN_CURSOR;
    DBMS_SQL.PARSE(c,actual_query,DBMS_SQL.NATIVE);
    l_status := DBMS_SQL.EXECUTE(c);
    DBMS_SQL.DESCRIBE_COLUMNS(c, col_cnt, rec_tab);
    FOR j in 1..col_cnt LOOP
    DBMS_SQL.DEFINE_COLUMN(c,j,v_val,2000);
    END LOOP;
    FOR j in 1..col_cnt LOOP
    DBMS_SQL.COLUMN_VALUE(c,j,v_val);
    END LOOP;
But got stuck, how to iterate the values and assign to a Type Object from the cursor. Can any one guide me how to do the process.
    Thanks,
    mallikj2

    Hi Justin,
First of thanks for your reply, and coming to my requirement, I need to report the list of items which are there in the dynamic select statement what am getting from the DB. The select statement number of columns may vary in my example for different countries the select item columns count is different. For US its '15', for UK it may be 10 ...like so, and some of the column value might be a combination or calculation part of other table columns (The select query contains more than one table in the from clause).
In order to execute the dynamic select statement and return the result i choose to write a function which will parse the cursor for dynamic query and then iterate the values and construct a Type Object and append it to the pipe row.
Am relatively very new for these sort of things, welcome in case of any suggestions to make it simple (Instead of the function what i thought to work with) also a sample narrating the new procedure will be appreciated.
    Thanks in Advance,
    mallikj2.

  • Multiple values in where clause(IN) of select query in Cisco Cloud Portal using single field

I can actually pass multiple values in the IN statement of select query using multiple dictionary fields in the data retrieval rule of the AFC in Cisco cloud portal like
    #dictionary.field1# = 1 and
    #dictionary.field2#=2
    select col1,col2 from table1 where col3 in (#dictionary.field1#,dictionary.field2#).
but I want to pass mutiple values in a single field as
    #dictionary.field1#=1,2
select col1,col2 from table1 where col3 in (#dictionary.field1#) and the query gives no data because it is taking as '1,2' instead of '1','2'.
Please give the solution for passing multiple values in a single variable to use in IN operator of WHERE clause

Ok, I now understand what you are trying to do. Unfortunately, you cannot inject parts of a SQL statement into a DDR through a dictionary field, which always represents a specific value (the comma in your case is attempting injection of a SQL construct to refer to multiple values). One possible solution is to arbitrarily consolidate your list of values using a delimiter that you know will not be in the values themselves such as a colon (:). Let's use 3 values as it serves as a better example.
Set your dictionary field to a single reference to all 3 values of interest, say 'a', 'b', 'c' as:
:a:b:c:  (you can use javascript to create this consolidated dictionary field)
Now your query would look something like the following:
    select col1,col2 from table1 where #dictionary.field1t# like '%:'+col3+':%'
This should achieve the desired result.

  • How to truncate a field in a Select Query

    SELECT SINGLE BET01 FROM PA0008 INTO G_BET01 WHERE PERNR = WA_PERNR.
where BET01 is the Amount field which is getting printed in the smart form but its takes 5 to 6 character blank spaces in the printing time, i want to truncate this space (remove this space ) in the print time , please tell me how to remove this space , the field size is 13 , how can i reduce the field size in my smartform query. please help . G_BET01 is a variable

    Maybe you can use this.
    DATA: d_char(15).
WRITE G_BET01 TO d_char CURRENCY 'XXX'.
'Then you can remove the spaces using :
    CONDENSE d_char no-gaps.

  • Addition of checkbox and 2 fields in ABap query selection screen

    Hi
I need to add chack boxes and 2 fields in ABAP query which is using LDB QMI. can u pls let me know how to do that.

    Hi Tarun,
I am still not clear with the problem..I guess you require plant in your selection screen which you have.
i guess if you go to sq01tcode there is a option infoset query from where you can give your selection options and value.
have you selected all the fields in infoset and made a selection screen?
When you have done with your infoset you just need to diplay the fields and there is a automatic program generated.
    Let me know...

Alternatively how could I add update the [number5] field to '1' where the [autonumber] is in the select and I can  then delete all records that do not contain a '1' in [number5]
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks
    AJ
    Simply this for the DELETE
    DELETE t
    FROM dbo.[Stock WIP Table]t
    WHERE EXISTS (SELECT 1
    FROM dbo.[Stock WIP Table]
    WHERE PalletID = t.PalletID
    AND autonumber > t.autonumber)
No need of UPDATE bit value and then deleting. just above will ensure it gets deleted in single step
another method you may use is this
    DELETE t
    FROM dbo.[Stock WIP Table] t
CROSS APPLY (SELECT MAX(autonumber) AS MaxID
    FROM dbo.[Stock WIP Table]
    WHERE PalletID = t.PalletID
    )t1
    WHERE t1.MaxID <> t.autonumber

  • Select query on scapptseg table based on tst_from  field.

    Hi everybody,
We enhanced the activity search with date type and date fields. User will enter date along with the datetype field to search. He can enter even ranges also for date field.
I tried by converting the date into timestamp and querid the table but in vain as timestamp is different from the timestamp in table even though date part is same.
Please let me know how to query this table using date. This may be a basic question. Please help me.

    Thanks for your reply.
I know that. For example user entered 5/15/2014 in date field on web ui.
in SCAPPTSEG, tst_from having value 5/15/2014 06:40:00 ( 20140515064000) , when I use convert statement below i am getting a timestamp where date is same but timepart is different. so query is failing.
           CLEAR lv_timestamp.
          CONVERT DATE '20140515'
          TIME sy-uzeit
INTO TIME STAMP lv_timestamp TIME ZONE sy-zonlo.
My question is when we have a timestamp filed in database , can i query the database when i am having only date values at my hand and i dont have any time information.
