TYPELIM and DIMLIST properties cannot be used in business rules

Hello All,
We are implementing BPC V5.1.
We are facing a problem while using properties such as TYPELIM or DIMLIST in "Automatic Adjustments detail" business rules.
According to the documentation, there are 4 colums where we can use account properties in this business rule :
- ACCOUNT where we give the account used to trigger the elimination.
In this field we are able to use account ID, TYPELIM or DIMLIST properties and it works perfectly.
- ALL_ACC, GROUP_ACC or MINO_ACC where we give the accounts we want to change.
In these fields, we are supposed to be able to use account ID, TYPELIM or DIMLIST properties. If we use the account ID, it works fine. If we use the TYPELIM property that has been used in the account field to trigger the elimination, it works fine.
Howewer, we cannot use TYPELIM or DIMLIST if they have not been used previously in the account field to trigger the elimination.
Has anybody faced the problem before ?
Is there a workaround (except typing all the IDs of the accounts we want to eliminate) ?

I guess the error " Aggregate and lookup functions cannot be used in query parameter expressions." is because I am using CountRow to ensure that if all values of multi select all selected i will not use that filter in where clause.

Hi, Include your parameter total count in the dataset for parameter and instead of using countrows() function use the count from dataset in the expression.

i build a new exception class with message class and i want to replace the
old exception that i had in the method ,what i did is delete the exception from the method
signature and add the exception class .
the problem is that when i try to activate the method i get error :

Also if you don't have this option checked in the Finder Preferences you won't get an icon on the desktop when a disc is inserted.

Comparing two List values using Oracle Business Rules

say for example list1( 10,20,30,40) and List2(10,50,60). when i compare both the list using the business rules
the rule should return true if there is atleast one match..here 10.

Problem using "Create Business Rule Design Definition" utility

Hi everyone,
I tried to create a business rule with Headstart Utilities - Create Business Rule Design Definition (Revision 6.0.0.20) and I got the following errors :

Combination of Message Prefix and Message Number (SGM-ENG) does not match format AAA-NNNNN.
Activity aborted with ORACLE internal errors.
-1400 ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into ("HST50"."QMS_MESSAGE_TEXT"."LANGUAGE")
I suppose that the utility concatenate the message prefix and the language to build the error message.
Our Oracle Designer version is 6.0.3.9.0, Headstart 2.1.2 with patch 12.4 and Developper is 6.0.5.35.3
Any patch available?

Headstart should be able to check out any tables you need.
We think we have the user settings
done correctly, but there may be something that we
have missed. How can we get Headstart to
automatically check-out the table(s) for which we
want to run the Business Rules design transformer?The user settings you need are (see also pages 5-7 and 5-10 in the Headstart User's Guide):
- Under 'Process the following objects', choose 'Checked out by anyone'
- Also check the check box '... also Checked In objects'
- Choose whether you want to automatically check out with or without lock
If this does not help, please run the utility with log level 'Debug Detailed' (can also be set in the User Preferences) and report the last few lines of the log messages. They should give an indication of why the check out does not succeed.

Hi to everyone! I have a business rule that has as input parameter a complex attribute with a date field inside named expiration. I want to compare the expiration field with the current date using a comparison function. I don't know where find the current date. The function Calendar.getInstance() return the current date? Any help we'll' be highly appreciated.

Calendar.getInstance() will give you the current date, and to find out the days between two dates; use Duration.days between(date1, date2) + 1

I am trying to set the Substitution variable through a data form on which the Business rule is attached.
The admin guide for Planning states that "You can set substitution variables on the Essbase server,
application, or database level. The same substitution variable can exist on multiple levels;
Planning uses the first one it finds as it searches in this order: 1) database 2) application 3)
server." So I believe that it should be possible.

ASR9K: bandwidth and bandwidth remaining cannot be used together. How to solve the problem to grant a quota and equally assign the remaining quota?

Hi everyone
The problem should be trivial. We want to grant a quota to specific classes and use equally the remaining quota of available bandwidth to all the requesting classes. Let's clarify with an example:
Class 7 ==> priority queue, level 1 with police 20%
Class 5 ==> priority queue, level 2 with police 40%
Class 6 ==> CIR 12%
Class 3 ==> CIR 11%
Class 2 ==> CIR 8%
Class 1 ==> CIR 5%
Class 0 ==> CIR 4%
To simplify let's suppose that there is no traffic on class 7 and 5 and that all remaining classes are generating traffic at a rate of 300Mbps each. Outgoing interface is 1G so congestion occurs. We want that each class 6,3,2,1,0 receive its granted value (so, respectively, 120M, 110M, 80M, 50M and 40M for a total of 400M) and that the remaining available bandwidth (600M) will be equally assigned, so 120M to each class.
Documentation from IOS-XR 5.2.2 let's understand that this should be the default behavior but if we run the policy shown below what we get is a weighted assignment of the remaining quota.
The policy used is the following:

The documentation of IOS-XR 5.2.2 states that both "bandwidth percent" and "bandwidth remaining percent" could be used in the same class (which could be a solution to force the requested behavior) but using both generates the following error:

just to provide my contribution, the hierarchical QoS policy works balancing the remaining bandwidth after granting the requested bandwidth (see the policy implemented below). However for priority queues it is granted the policer quota but sending more flows these appears to be unbalanced. So the problem to have both PQ served (in a balanced way between flows) AND have the remaining bandwidth distributed equally remains open ...

Testing rules designed using Oracle Business Rules in Oracle 11g SOA

I want to test the rules designed in ORB from a java class or a JSP.
I am looking for a way to provide input from a form/UI , then execute the rules and display the result back on form/UI.
Any sample showing how to achieve this would be helpful.

Hi Chinmay,
Oracle's SOA testing framework allows any or all ofthe invoked services to be emulated. Simply click on the invocation in the process diagramand supply a response document to use instead of actually invoking the service. Tests can also make assertions about document content at any step in the business process. You can use a SOAP client to test you WS, such as Fiddler, generic SOAP UI, SOAP UI utility. You can also do your unit testing from the OBR Designer itself.

Action 'is not valid' used in Business rule, but when rule condition met variable set to "unassigned"

I have used "is not valid" in the action and set the action as " Manager is not valid" . But when the condition is met, the Manager field is assigned with "unassigned" value. I do not have other rules, which use default to "unassigned".
Still for the records satisfying the condition, i see that the value of Manager column for those records is becoming "unassigned".
I do not want the manager value to be reset to unassigned. I just want the validation failure to be reported over mail.

Swap, is this still an issue?

Using StartsWith for String Comparision in Business rules

hi,
I need to compare whether a particular string starts with some pre-defined prefixes. These are bound to change from time to time and hence we wanted to use the business rule engine for this. We declared prefixes using "list of values" vocab and
defined the set. Now, I hoped to use the String.StartsWith() method but couldn't understand if it can be used.
As of now, we are creating a method and that will be called with 2 parameters. One the string and other is one of the list of values which we want the string to start with. Is there any better way to do this?

Series as a list and the valid values would be 12, 345, 567. I intend to keep them as prefixes i.e. they are not regular expressions. So, they won't be 12.*, 345.*, 567.*. The idea is to keep the vocab close to requirement
and away from implementation (typically, for a business user). Now, if I want this setup, how will the implementation with
Match look like?
Technically, your above solution would work.. but my way of implementation / thought process is for a different purpose.
