UCCX SPAN-based monitoring in 3750 virtualiztion environment

Here's my test environment:
UCCX 10.5.1
VMware 5.5U2
Switch: Cisco WS-C3750G-24PS
IOS: c3750-ipservicesk9-mz.122-58.SE1.bin
Regarding the SPAN command in the tutorial -
monitor session 40 destination interface gi1/1 ingress learning
3750 switch does not support the "learning" keyword. Thus my monitor commands are like below:
monitor session 1 source vlan 102
monitor session 1 destination interface Gi1/0/11 ingress untagged vlan 100
Voice VLAN is 102. UCCX VLAN is 100. Dedicated vSwitch, port-group are created with UCCX virtual NIC connecting to it. Dedicated physical NIC is assigned to the vSwitch and connected to switch port Gi1/0/11.
I noticed this configuration will only work under specific conditions - the UCCX server has to build its ARP table before the "destination" command is issued.
I think it is because the "destination" command somehow blocks the ARP request from UCCX. Without ARP functioning, UCCX was never able to resolve its default gateway IP to a MAC address. See attached screenshot. UCCX was trying to resolve the default GW IP 142.100.64.100 by ARP. But never got a response.
The work around is to remove the "destination" command. Let UCCX build its ARP table. Then re-enter the command. Then everything works like a champ.
But I was wondering if there is another way to set up the SPAN so we don't have to do this manual workaround? Thanks!

Have you been able to get a response to this post? I am running into the exact same issue with an upgrade to UCCx 8.0. SPAN on the 2nd NIC isn't allowed, and now the customer has lost functionality.

Span-Based Monitor of IPPA Agents at remote site for UCCX 9X

I understand to be able to monitor/record agents using IPPA (for UCCX), you need to utilize Span-based monitoring as opposed to Desktop Monitoring. According to the SRND, it also states that there should be no routing devices between agent phone (IPPA) and UCCX server which means no routers in between. Question I have is if I put the failover UCCX at the same location as the IPPA agents, would this work? I understand there might be an issue with redundancy with this scenario. Thoughts?

It is possible without QM. When using desktop monitoring, the phone is configured to Span to PC port. The agent must be running CAD and the PC running it must be attached to the PC port on the phone. CAD sees the spanned packets from the phone and then forwards them to the recording service on the CCX server. The big gotcha is that the NIC in the PC must not discard 802.1q-tagged packets. If the NIC discards them instead of forwarding them into the NDIS stack, CAD will never see them. Sometimes this takes a Google search and a registry setting change to fix if it doesn't work at first.

UCCX 7 server based monitoring doc

Hi there,
I am looking to setup server base recoding with RSPAN. The only documentation that i could find relating to this is:

Hi Alexis,
The design of server-based monitoring in UCCX 7.0 hasn't changed much since 3.x. The configuration on UCCX is fairly straightforward. You'll want to make sure that desktop monitoring is unchecked for the agent phones in Cisco Desktop Administrator, and you'll want to make sure that the Post-Install tool (C:\Program Files\cisco\desktop\bin\PostInstall.exe) has the 2nd NIC of the server selected for Monitoring/Recording.
What is important for the SPAN setup is that when the RTP packets reach the second NIC of the server (Connected to SPAN destination port) that the MAC address of the phone remains intact). The monitoring/recording service in 7.0 filters the packets by MAC address to determine which RTP packets are part of the conversation. Layer 3 devices can change this MAC address as the packet is routed, so it's important the SPAN configuration picks up the traffic directly from the phone and relays it to the server's second NIC intact.

Cisco WCS integration with SNMP based monitoring

I am looking for a solution to integrate Cisco WCS with any SNMP based monitoring solution. My requirement is below,
- Alerts for Access points up/down should be picked up by an alerting system in its console through SNMP.
- I dont want all access points to be monitored, but only a critical group.
Currently all access points are configured on LWAP mode under a wireless controller. Can i configure APs individually for SNMP and get it monitored through the 3rd party monitoring tool.
Can anyone please guide me to find a solution for this.

Things to be monitored in a J2EE Environment

Dear gurus,
I would like to know what all things can be monitored in a J2EE environment. I dont want any specific like websphere or weblogic or tomcat but in general what components/things can be monitored. If anybody can provide me a list I would be greatful.
Also, if possible how do I implement the things.

What are your requirements?
Also, if possible how do I implement the things.Depends. Which things you need to monitor?
Again, without dwelling into specifics, a general technology for management & monitoring is JMX.

Wireless Client PING-Based monitor system question

Hi:
I joined this forums because i need to recopilate info about a monitor system.
So, i have a relative big wireless network and due to legal instances I MUST use a ping-based monitor system to see the status of my network devices and the final clients on wireless station.
We developed a php linux-based system to make pings every 5 minutes to see if there is a host UP or DOWN. Everything works fine, the server is making the pings to the clients and MRTG generates graphic statistics.

The problem is now I have received a notification to make a change on this system to send the pings FROM the clients TO the server and generate statistics.
Is there any difference between making pings from the Client side to the server and viceversa? Does round-trip time is different maybe?
What are the technicals issues on this system?
I accept every critic, advice, suggestion, information, etc.

That's interesting. It sounds as if you may have a good reason for implementing this, but it would also seem to be an inefficient monitoring scheme. A polling interval of 5 minutes does not give that much granularity for statistics even if you are able to make it work from the client side. Also, you would need to centrally collect the statistics in some way. If it were me I would stick to a centrally based monitoring system. I make heavy use of the syslog capabiliy on Cisco access points since they log just about everything. You can even have a syslog monitoring system page you for something as small as dropped wireless connection if you want to go that far.
Sorry if that's not much help, but I would definately have some people look at the big picture before implementing the proposed solution.

Rule based monitors (RZ20) - Show system availability for selected systems

Hi experts,
I'm new with CCMS monitoring and need an advice for rule based monitors.
I want to create three alert monitors (RZ20). One for our developing systems, one for our quality assurance systems and one to monitor our production systems.
For the start, I want to show data in each of this monitor for free space of the filesytems (MTE class: "FilesystemFreeSpace"), for users which are locked out (MTE class "R3SyslogSecurity") and for the availabilty of the ABAP systems (MTE class "Availability_SysPercent_ABAP").
I started to create the monitor for our developing system and got a problem. I started with the rule "CCMS_DEFINE_R3_SYSTEMS" to select our developing systems "HRT", "CRT" and so on. Under this nodes, I defined the mte classes ("CCMS_GET_MTE_BY_CLASS") which needs to be shown: "FilesystemFreeSpace", "R3SyslogSecurity" and "Availability_SysPercent_ABAP".
When I checked the results, I was able to see the free space of the filesystems and whether a user has been locked out. Unfortunately, I recognized that the availability is not shown. Instead there is the message "No MTEs currently available".
I'm aware, the availability cannot be shown on this way, since the agents are part of the central monitoring system and hence i need to choose the central system for "CCMS_DEFINE_R3_SYSTEMS". However I'd like to show the availability separated for each system under "HRT", "CRT" and so on. That means for example, there should me a node "HRT", which contains the free space of the filesystems, whether users are locked out, and the availability for the system.
It's not a problem to get a solution with a static monitor. I simply create a virtual node "HRT" and tick the checkbox under "<central system>, ..., <availability>, <hrt> ..."
However, I'd like to use rule based monitor to keep the effort at a minimum by not ticking thousand of check-boxes when I expand the monitored objects.
I also tried to use the rule "CCMS_GET_AVAILABILITY_FOR_SYSTEM", but it doesn't work and SAP documentations say "This rule is reserved by SAP for later use".
Does anybody know a solution for my problem?
In addition, I've got one more question concerning rule based monitors: If I want to create a monitor for my developing systems, I'll not be able to choose "<all>" for "CCMS_DEFINE_R3_SYSTEMS". Do I need to create "CCMS_DEFINE_R3_SYSTEMS" for each system separately? Or is there another possible way?

Yes, I had tried you suggestion but it didn't work for me.
The problem is, that the Agent "CCMSPING" is part of the central monitoring system by definition.
Furthermore I tried to copy the default availabiliy monitor to look how it is definied. It didn't help.
I made the decision to define my monitor differently (an extra monitor for the availability for all system) and replace this temporalily solution when ""CCMS_GET_AVAILABILITY_FOR_SYSTEM" will be available.
The situation is not so bad after all.

Premiere Pro won't span multiple monitors

Premier Pro CS3
I cannot get the PP app to span multiple monitors. Previously I have used Premiere to span two 22" monitors so I can have a very wide timeline. Now that I have installed CS3, it "takes over" my second monitor as a "Program" monitor and I cannot figure out how to shut it off. It also makes this monitor useless for any other applications that I have open while CS3 is open. Help!

Well, now it's working and I have NO CLUE WHY... perhaps opening and closing Premiere 5 times is required before the videocard gets into the act. In any case, it has just started working and I completed an entire editing sequence with no freaky behavior at all.
I love it when a plan comes together - but it's sure nice to know "why" for next time ocasionally... I did use an older saved sequence as a starting point this time, so perhaps something was corrupted in the "new workspace" that I tried to save.
Now, of course, I'm afraid to ever turn this computer off again, or even close Premiere...

OS X Mavericks: Window cannot span 2 monitors

I am using a MacBook Air (13", late 2010, 256GB SSD, NVIDIA GeForce 320M 256MB, Mavericks 10.9.1) and just connected it to an Asus 27" display connected by DisplayPort/HDMI. Unlike in previous setups, I cannot get a window to span both the Asus and the Air displays simultaneously. I have it set so that the Asus monitor is both physically and logically (ie, in Display preferences) right above the MacBook Air display.
I can move a window up and down, from one monitor to the other, no problem. But if I try to move a window so that it "spans" two monitors, it won't do that. Instead the window runs downward in a semi-translucent image until the window is completely into the other monitor's area, at which time it turns solid and will stay on the new monitor. But a window cannot "span" from one monitor to the other ... it's either on one monitor or the other.
Is this a Mavericks "feature?" Or due to a lack of video card RAM? Or a setup issue? Anyone heard of this before?

Bandwidth monitoring on 3750

im looking for a way to monitor the bandwidth and graphically identify the real time traffic on several ports in our network.
The tool would have to run on a windows workstation which woudl have multple NICS connected to cisco 3750G switches setup wtih SPAN sessions.
the data received should be separted and displayed in real time graphically.
Kind of like what Perfromance Monitor would do.
Does anyone know of such a tool

Hi, we have just swapped all our avaya switches with catalyst 2960 (12, 24 and 48 ports) and 3750 (48 ports with 10gig module).
How do I find what port I should monitor for bandwith graphs?

SPAN Port Monitoring Setup

We have three Cicso Catalyst 3750 switches that are stacked. The primary switch has a VLAN ( # 99 ) setup on it. The VLAN has our incoming internet connection. The LAN ports from the two redundant firewalls are routed back to the primary switch ( non VLAN ). The WAN ports on the firewalls are connected to the VLAN. There are three unused ports ( 46, 47 & 48 ) available on the VLAN. There are also a couple of available ports ( 36 & 38 ) on the primary switch that are not in the VLAN.
We want to connect a hardware device to one of the ports on the switch that monitors network traffic. Need to connect two ports on the hardware device. One for LAN/WAN traffic, and one for the SPAN port.
Question:
Which port would you setup as the LAN port ?
Which port would you setup as the SPAN port ?
What commands would we run to set this up ?

Projector span 2 monitors

Does anyone know how to get a flash projector to span or
stretch across two monitors in full screen mode?
I have set the stage dimensions to 2356 pixels in width to
appear on both my monitors. When I run the project in full screen
mode (no window ui), the projector centeres on the first monitor
only and does not appear on the second monitor. Is there a way to
position the projector maybe to left justify from the left to span
to the right? If I publish the projector in a window, I can
manually move it to appear and cover both left and right screens,
but I need it to startup full screen like this.
Any help appreciated.

UCCX 8 VOIP Monitor Subsystem - Out of Service

All,
Upgraded CCX 701(SR5) to CCX 8.0.2 Premium HA enabled. Both Servers were IN SERVICE. Did a Patch upgrade to UCCX 8.0.2SU1. Noticed that VOIP Monitor Subsystem on both servers showing as OUT OF SERVICE. Downgraded to CCX 8.0.2, still get this Subsystem OUT OF SERVICE.
From RTMT, it shows the following error:
%MIVR-SS_VOIPMON_SRV-3-VOIP_OPERATION_ERROR:VOIP Subsystem Operation Error: Module Name=LRMConnection.readMSG, A specific description for a trace=erroris: ,Exception=java.io.EOFException
Anyone kows how to fix this problem???

Hi all,
I had this same problem and similar/same versions.
Restarting Cisco DESKTOP VoIP Monitor Service (on sub - which had VoIP Monitor Service showing 'OOS') made no impact. I don't think there is any real relationship between DESKTOP VoIP monitor service and VoIP monitor service?
Anyway, restarted the same service on Pub - no change.
Tried restarting various sub services including CCX Engine - no change.
I found I had to restart publisher Cisco Unified CCX Engine, then go to sub and do the same once pub was back to all 'in service'.
I then found that my sub's 'Log Manager' under 'Cisco Unified CCX Serviceability' had gone to PARTIAL SERVICE.
I restarted 'Cisco Unified CCX Serviceability' on sub - which had to be done via CLI.
It appeared to restart no issue - but refreshing the list of services in the GUI several times - it still was in PARTIAL.
Restarted Sub appliance (bounced the server) from CLI, after reboot - all services were back up and IN SERVICE.
Thankfully I didn't have to restart my Pub - all services... IN SERVICE on pub & sub
Resolved.
PS. No calls were dropped for us.

Latest version of UCCX Agent desktop in VDI or XenDesktop environment

Is anyone out there using Agent Desktop for UCCX in a XenDesktop VDI environment. The release notes for the latest clients don't appear to list XenDesktop specifically but mentions VDI support and XenApp support.

I've a confirmation from Calabrio that it has not been qualified and is not committed to a specfic release at this time.
