UCS Virtual Interface Card 1280 failover

Hi,
I'm facing some issues with failover and Cisco UCS Virtual Interface Card 1280.
I found some information regarding M81KR:
Cisco UCS M81KR has fabric failover
The Cisco UCS M81KR offers fabric failover, which enables interface failover at a physical level without involving the OS or hypervisor or certification overhead.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/ps10265/ps10276/solution_overview_c22-555987_ps10280_Product_Solution_Overview.html
b)  Both uplinks of one FI fail or FI fails : In this case the corresponding server links will be shut since there is no uplink available on an FI. The FI will propagate link-down status to the adapter. Once adapter link-down status occurs, it is the responsibility of the operating system to re-pin traffic to the remaining NIC/HBA. The exception here is with Palo adapter (M71KR and M81KR) which supports fabric failover.
https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-18525
But I didn't found about Cisco UCS Virtual Interface Card 1280.
Cisco UCS Virtual Interface Card 1280 is newer than M81KR, anybody knows if 1280 has the same feature? is it possible the failover even if the Fabric Interconnect fails?
Thanks,

Hi Mauricio,
The VIC 1280 has fabric failover as well, from the spec sheet:
Network architecture
Provides a redundant path to the fabric interconnect using hardware-based fabric failover

  • UCS P81E Virtual Interface Card

    Hi all,
    This is a newbie question.
    1. Is the UCS P81E Virtual Interface Card compatible with Cisco Catalyst 3750-X and 3560-X Series Switches 10GE Network Module (C3KX-NM-10G)?
    2. Does VIC require a DCE switch such as the Nexus 5000?
    3. Does VIC require a FCoE switch such as the Nexus 5000?
    4. Is there any other requirement?
    TIA
    Joseph

for server uplink to the LAN Nexus is not a must
FCoE if used you need a device support it like nexus if you not using it then you do not need
if want to use multiple gourp links/etherchanne you could use LACP with the Cisco switch
other requriments is make sure you allow the vlans created in you VM enviroment to be paased over the trunk link in the switch port

  • CSS- traffic orignating from real server + Virtual interface

    Hi all,
I am designing a solution at the moment, in which I shall have 2 servers behind a pair of CSS & their default gateway will be the Virtual Interface ip address of CSS.
Is there any problem forseen in traffic getting initiated from the server to any other subnet in the network and the return traffic to the server.
Servers shall connect to a pair of 3750 being used as L2 in stack .
The Stacked 3750's shall be placed below the CSS pair & the CSS pair shall further connects to a single 6509 upstream....
Each 3750-L2 connects single port to each CSS
    (3750-L2-1 to CSS1 &
    3750-L2-2 to CSS 2)
Both CSS connect to the SINGLE 6509 on diff blades. for better redundency.
The CSS shall not be connected to each other directly.
Both 3750-L2 connect to each other as well
    IIS-1---L2_Sw1---CSS1---6509---Othr_Subent
    IIS-1---L2_Sw2---CSS2---6509---Othr_Subent
Note: I shall have VIP/Virtual Interface config on my CSS's.
Appreciate validation and recomendations on this design.
    Many Thanks,
    gagan

    Hi Gilles,
    Many thanks for the confirmation.
Request verification on the below as well~
    1. With the above scenario; I do not require any group (NAT) configuration, either for my servers initiating traffic for going out or for clients hitting the VIP to reach servers. The client & server shall be in diff VLAN?s of course.
    2. With VIP & Virtual Interface configuration & couple of server VLAN's below on server side, I should be able to use both the gigabit interfaces on the 11503 to connect up and down stream as TRUNK. I mean to ask Virtual intf. & VIP has no problems working on the same TRUNK interface?
    3. I understand that Fate sharing and critical service helps full failover (client & server side).
As an upstream router or L3 switch fails or the upstream connecting gigabit interface on CSS fails, the failover happens.
Will the same be applicable to downstream L2 switch & CSS interface failure? If any of these on the downstream fails will the CSS failover to the standby unit.
I think this above should work, just need confirmation coz I have not done this before.
    Thanks a lot again,
    Gagan

  • Why virtual interfaces added to ManagementOS not visible to Cluster service?

    Hello All,
I"m starting this new thread since the one before is answered by our friend Udo. My problem in short is following. Diagram will be enough to explain what I'm trying to achieve. I've setup this lab to learn Hyper-V clustering with 2 nodes. It is Hyper-V
server 2012. Both nodes have 3x physical NIcs, 1 in each node is dedicated to managing the Node. Rest of the two are used to create a NIC team. Atop of that NIC team, a virtual switch is created with -AllowManagementOS
$False. Next I created and added following virtual interfaces to host partition, and plugged them into virtual switch created atop of teamed interface. These virtual interfaces should serve the purpose of various networks available.
For SAN i'm running a Linux VM which has iSCSI target server and clustering service has no problem with that. All tests pass ok.
The problem is......when those virtual interfaces added to hosts; do not appear as available networks
to cluster service; instead it only shows the management NIC as the available network to leverage.
This is making it difficult to understand how to setup a cluster of 2x Hyper-V Server nodes. Can someone help please?
    Regards,
    Shahzad.

    Shahzad,
I've read this thread a couple of times and I don't think I'm clear on the exact question you're asking.
When the clustering service goes out to look for "Networks", what it does is scan the IP addresses on each node. Every time it finds an IP in a unique subnet, that subnet is listed as a network. It can't see virtual switches and doesn't care about
virtual vs. teamed vs. physical adapters or anything like that. It's just looking at IP addresses. This is why I'm confused when you say, "it won't show virtual interfaces available as networks". "Networks" in this context are IP subnets.
I'm not aware of any context where a singular interface would be treated like a network.
If you've got virtual adapters attached to the management operating system
and have assigned IPs to them, the cluster should have discovered those networks. If you have multiple adapters on the same node using IPs in the same subnet, that network will only appear once and the cluster service will only use
one adapter from that subnet on that node. The one it picked will be visible on the "Network Connections" tab at the bottom of Failover Cluster Manager when you're on the Networks section.

    Hello Eric and friends,
Eric, much appreciated about your interest about the issue and yes I agree with you when you said... "When the clustering service goes out to look for "Networks",
what it does is scan the IP addresses on each node. Every time it finds an IP in a unique subnet, that subnet is listed as a network. It can't see virtual switches and doesn't care about virtual vs. teamed vs. physical adapters or anything like that. It's

    like a network."
By networks I meant to say subnets. Let me explain what I've configured so far:
Node 1 & Node 2 installed with 3x NICs. All 3 NICs/node plugged into same switch.
    Node1:  131.107.0.50/24
    Node2:  131.107l.0.150/24
A Core Domain controller VM running on Node 1:   131.107.0.200/24
    A JUMPBOX (WS 2012 R2 Std.) VM running on Node 1: 131.107.0.100/24
A Linux SAN VM running on Node 2: 10.1.1.100/8
I planed to configured following networks:
    (1) Cluster traffic:  10.0.0.50/24     (IP given to virtual interface for Cluster traffic in Node1)
Cluster traffic:  10.0.0.150/24   (IP given to virtual interface for Cluster traffic in Node2)
    (2) SAN traffic:      10.1.1.50/8      (IP given to virtual interfce for SAN traffic in Node1)
SAN traffic:      10.1.1.150/8    (IP given to virtual interfce for SAN traffic in Node2)
Note: Cluster service has no problem accessing the SAN VM (10.1.1.100) over this network, it validates SAN settings and comes back OK. This is an indication that virtual interface is
    working fine.
    (3) Migration traffic:   172.168.0.50/8     (IP given to virtual interfce for
    Migration traffic in Node1)
Migration traffic:   172.168.0.150/8    (IP given to virtual interfce for
    Migration  traffic in Node2)
All these networks (virtual interfaces) are made available through two virtual switches which are configured EXACTLY identical on both Node1/Node2.
Now after finishing the cluster validation steps (which comes all OK), when create cluster wizard starts, it only shows one network; i.e. network of physical Layer 2 switch i.e. 131.107.0.0/24.
I wonder why it won't show IPs of other networks (10.0.0.0/8, 10.1.1.0/8 and  172.168.0.0/8)

    Shahzad

  • Is Neteller virtual credit  card is working with App store

    Hello,
    Im from india and
I wanna buy some apps from Apple App-store. I don't have any credit card so I registered fro entropay and Neteller virtual credit card
So, my questioon is Neteller virtual credit card is working with iTunes store or not?

If you are an old timer, sometimes the App store gets confused about your account.
    You might be "oldtimer"
Or you might be "[email protected]"
This is the situation for me (Yes, I am old and long suffering).
This situation means sometimes you have to log in as the other user to get things to work, or to see things you have already purchased.  I assume this is due to the fact that I was an iwork/iweb/.mac/whateveapplecallsitthisweek/icloud user.
Other then that, you might login in to the web interface from your mac and try to update your crdit card info from there. If it's all correct and the card is good it SHOULD go.
    Best of luck,
    Marty

  • Binding a Second IP to an Interface Card

    Hey All,
I need to bind a second IP address to my single network card on a Solaris 7 server. I've done this in Linux by adding an additional ifcfg-eth0 file to /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts, specifying the new IP address. With Solaris though, the new landscape has me a bit flustered. I'd very much appreciate a guide through the woods here, my flashlight is going dim...
    Much Appreciated,
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
Here's a write up on this question:
Virtual Interfaces (One interface, different IPs):
Solaris TCP/IP allows multiple logical interfaces to be associated with a physical network interface. This allows a single machine to be
assigned multiple IP addresses, even though it may have only one
network interface. (see the ifconfig man page)
You can define up to 255 "logical addresses" for a given network interface on Solaris 2.x.
There is no supported method to do so on SunOS 4.1.X (Solaris 1.x)
In Solaris 2.6 you can go greater than 256 ( 0-255 ) which is configurable with NDD. The command "ndd -set /dev/ip ip_addrs_per_if 1-8192" will permit you to configure as many as your addressing structure will permit
    (up to 8191 virtual hosts.)
    1. Create an entry in the /etc/hosts file ( or nis host map) for each of the virtual interfaces with the hostname and IP address you want to use. Don't forget to add the hostname to /etc/hosts NIS, NIS+, and/or DNS database.
    2. Create a /etc/hostname.<interface:#> file for each of the interfaces. (/etc/hostname.le0:1, hostname.le0:2, hostname.le0:3...le0:255.)
The file can contain a single line with either the ip number or hostname reference. For example, if you are using the le0 interfaces, you would create the following files:
    /etc/hostname.le0:1 (do NOT use a le0:0 - same as le0 )
    /etc/hostname.le0:2
    and so on
This can also be done for an hme interface. You can have up to 1024 virtual interfaces under 2.5.1 This file should include the hostname or IP address for the corresponding interface.
    3. If subnetting is being used, there should be an entry in the
/etc/netmasks file in the following format:
    network_address netmask
The network_address should be the network address before
subnetting. For example, a class B network that is subnetted to
a Class C would have an entry such as:
    157.145.0.0 255.255.255.0
    4. Reboot the system
    5. Verify changes with an ifconfig -a
Note: there are some bugs with third party applications/daemons that do not operate well with many virtual interfaces.
Additional Note: For Security and network isolation. You can set ip_forwarding off and ip_strict_dst_multihoming on, if you are trying to prevent access to the other interfaces.
"ndd /dev/ip ip_forwarding" Determines if the workstation will route packets.
"ndd /dev/ip ip_strict_dst_multihoming" Determines whether to use Strict Destination Multihoming. If this variable is set to True, and ip_forwarding is turned off, then the machine will not except packets destined for a different interface. RFC112
If duplicate additional local routes are added (by ifconfig) when the virtual interfaces are on same subnet, then you may need to "route delete net" on these.
A /etc/rc2.d/S99vif file can be added to ifconfig and add/delete routes, etc.
On 2.6 it may be neccessary to turn off interface groups.
To disable this feature (which is on by default) the following line
    must be added to /etc/rc2.d/S69inet
    ndd -set /dev/ip ip_enable_group_ifs 0
    Thanks

  • Audinate Dante Virtual Sound Card

I'm in the midst of working out a system upgrade and may have just hit a big stumbling block.  I'd hoped to have this sorted out ages ago but have spent 3 of the past 4 weeks in hospital.
Presently, my interface in and out of Audition is a Yamaha DM1000 digital mixer with MY16AT ADAT card, into an MAudio Profire Lightbridge and then into/out of my audio laptop via Firewire.
It's the laptop that I need to upgrade for various reasons and I'm having an almost impossible time finding one that has the spec I need and still includes Firewire.
My fall back idea was to change the MY16AT card in my mixer to an Audinate Dante card and their "Virtual Sound Card" software.  I'm close to placing an order but was just having a read today and, buried deep down in their FAQs is word that "Adobe Audition is not supported".
FYI, "Virtual Sound Card" is a system that feeds multichannel Audio in and out of a computer via ethernet and has that connection show up as an ASIO device.  They list DAW software that works with Virtual Sound Card and it includes every other major piece of software--except Audtion and the proprietary side of Protools.
Does anybody know if this info is current or refers to some older versions of Audition?  Anybody know why Audition might be an odd one out on compatibility with Audinate?
Anyone know a Windows based laptop that still has Firewire and has the rest of its spec suitable for audio work.
    I'm depressed.

    Thanks for the useful thoughts.
I did indeed email Audinate with a query about why they think Audition doesn't work--and, despite waiting 4 days, have not yet received a reply.  As you suggest, this bodes badly regarding any future support so I've given up on them.
As of this morning, I've ordered a laptop with the spec I want and equipped with and Expresscard slot to install my own Firewire interface.  It was an order because, frankly, none of the local retailers could offer the sort of machine I wanted and all were pushing the dreaded Windows 8 at me.  No thanks...I don't like the reliance on touch screen and "Metro" and I never buy an OS until SP2!  I spent more than I wanted, especially since I had to get an iPad for my wife as a quid pro quo!
Anyhow, in a week or ten days I should have a blazingly fast new DAW.
Thanks Steve and Ryclark for the suggestions.

  • Using NI488.2, is it possible to configure the Interface card as a 'Listen-only' device

At one time, the older gpib.dll supported the ability to change an interface card register in order to allow the card to function as a Talk-Only or Listen-Only device. I want to do that with version 1.7 of NI488.2. How would I do that? If I switched to VISA, would I be allowed to do this?

    Hi..
We use a number of different NI Gpib cards here at work in conjunction with some RF test equipment in a development environment. Most of this equipment will only work in a Talker-Only mode and are meant to dump data to a Pen Plotter. My objective is to write a universal application that will allow the PC to emulate a plotter in a 'listen-only' mode. Some of our PCs are older ISA versions (Win98,etc) where others are PCI (Win2000,XP). I want to write the software so that any of these platforms could be used.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated..
    Jim

  • Virtual Interface generation bug in NetWeaver ?

I use the Web Service generation wizard to generate a virtual interface which exposes methods in an EJB. As one of the parameters I pass a simple java bean, lets say:
    public class StatusCode
    private String name;
    private boolean buggy;
    public String getName() {...}
    public void setName(String newName){...}
    public boolean isBuggy() {...}
    public void setBuggy(boolean trueOrFalse){...}
When I look at the virtual interface generated, especially at the Types tab, my boolean attribute is not included.
If I change the getter to "getBuggy()", the attribute is included in the VI. The only problem is that the typical Java Bean framework, say from sun or ibm, always map 'boolean' getters to 'isSomething()' and not 'getSomething()'.
Is this a bug with NW? Is there a fix or workaround for this ?
    My version of NW:
    Version: 2.0.7
    Build id: 200407270250
    Thanks in advance,
    Mark
I posted this question also in the NW development forum, but so far no replies.

I try to login by use:
    username : Administrator
    password : <master password> (at least 1 number)
I try to login many times but it always fails.
(I am very sure about my password since i also try to reinstall many times - 10th. both J2EE 1.4 and Java EE 5)
Ivaylo Ivanov, do you sure that you test with this new edition. (Not the previous edition)
I see the other persons get the result like me:
    Telnet Administration
    SAP J2EE Engine v7.100
    User name: Administrator
    Password:
The user account is either expired, or not valid yet.
Login failed. Reason: The user account is either expired, or not valid yet.
    Connection to host lost.
if my login is not correct, it will tell the other messags.
    Telnet Administration
    SAP J2EE Engine v7.100
    User name: f
    Password:
    Cannot authenticate the user.
Login failed. Reason: Cannot authenticate the user.

(If this is not the right forum, could someone suggest where I can post this question?)

Hi.  As of Netweaver 2004s,  the virtual interface piece has be absorbed into the creation of the web service definition, so there is no need to create it as well.   When you are getting the 403,  how are you trying to run this, using the Web Service Homepage?  If so, you will need to configure what j2e engine that you want to use to use.  You can do this in WSADMIN under the Administration settings.   Check that this is set.  YOu must know the URL of your j2e engine.

  • Can I use VCC (Virtual Credit Card) For my apple id ?

I want to ask , Can I use VCC (Virtual Credit Card) For my apple id ?

I have just discovered this fact in the past two weeks when I needed to update the expiration date on a virtual credit card number which I have had registered on my iTunes account for years. Apple claims this is a long time policy but considering that I was able to keep using the same VAN for several years by updating the expiration date, I believe the implementation of the policy is recent.
I spoke to two different Apple support people just now and they were apologetic and advised that I leave feedback about the issue at this site:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html
using the option to leave feedback in the category of managing my iTunes store account.
The support manager told me that the reason for this policy is that it is easy for hackers to steal these virtual numbers and use them--which is ridiculous, because the whole point of the VAN is that it is tied to one vendor only once it is used, and if the vendor changes even one letter in the name when they put through the charge on the credit card account, the charge is refused (at least the way my credit card issuer handles VANs). With any other form of payment, Apple and I would still have a problem with unauthorized charges on the iTunes store and I would have an even bigger problem if the hacker stole my real credit card number and used it anywhere they pleased.
I think this issue should be spread widely on tech sites and anyone who is having this problem should also be sure to leave feedback on the address above as it is supposedly taken very seriously. This is a step backward as far as I am concerned. I love Apple products and will figure out a different way to pay for my various iTunes subscriptions in the meantime but I am certainly not a happy camper right now.
