UDT and insert using form

Hello,
I'm new in APEX and i have some difficulties with complex types... I'm building application using application builder i have defined types in dbase here it is:
CREATE TYPE ADRESA_TIP AS OBJECT (
ULICA VARCHAR2(15),
BROJ VARCHAR2(14));
CREATE TYPE ADRESA_nTIP AS TABLE OF ADRESA_TIP;
CREATE TABLE PRA_LICE (
SIFRA_KLIJENTA VARCHAR2(20),
NAZIV     VARCHAR2(20),
RACUN     VARCHAR2(25),
PIB     VARCHAR2(25),
MATICNI_BROJ     VARCHAR2(20),
ADRESA ADRESA_NTIP
NESTED TABLE ADRESA STORE AS ADRESE;
I dont know how to build form in application builder to insert values into that table because i cant add field adresa into form i can only insert values like this:
INSERT INTO PRA_LICE VALUES (1, 'maxi', '234', '23433', '666554', ADRESA_NTIP(ADRESA_TIP('bulevar', '23')))
Any help?
Thnx in advance,
Vojkan

Hello,
I'm afraid that you'll have to include separate fields for each attribute of your type, run the constructor for you type and its container, then insert that.
You'll end up with something akin to (although your original code is still valid):
declare
   typ_new ADRESA_TIP;
   col_new ADRESA_nTIP;
begin
   typ_new := new adresa_tip(ULICA=>:P99_FOO,BROJ=>:P99_BAR);
   col_new := ADRESA_nTIP();
   col_new.extend;
   col_new(col_new.last):= typ_new;
   INSERT INTO PRA_LICE
   VALUES (
      1
      ,'maxi'
      ,'234'
      ,'23433'
      ,'666554'
      ,col_new
end;

    please answer for this post i need faced in interview.how can we write the code for that procedure in policy details using procedures in plsql.You are asking about a specific business area (Insurance) and the nuances of that business (Insurance Policies) and providing no technical details about what is required, on a technical forum. There are many varied businesses in the world and not everyone here is going to be familiar with the area of business you are referring to.
    As a technical forum, people are here to assist with technical issues, not to try and help you answer questions in an interview for something you clearly know nothing about, so that you can get a job that you won't know how to do.
    If you have a specific technical issue, post appropriate details, including database version, table structures and indexes, example data and expected output etc. as detailed in the FAQ: {message:id=9360002}

  • Business Catalyst Help | Create and insert a form

    This question was posted in response to the following article: http://helpx.adobe.com/business-catalyst/using/create-insert-form.html

    I want to ask also if the opt-in forms in business catalyst can be embedded on a different website that's not hosted in BC. Like other email clients (mailchimp, aweber etc.) you can embed their forms to any website.
    Is this possible for the BC email marketing forms?

  • Database Updation and Insertion using Modify Statement

    Hi All,
    I am using Modify statment for data insertion and updation
    MODIFY zmpit_ven_bgg_rg FROM TABLE t_ven_bgg .
    But I am getting error
    The type of the database table and work area (or internal table) "T_VEN_BGG" are not compatible.
    I have defined my internal table of below type :
    TYPES : BEGIN OF ty_ven_bgg,
            mandt             TYPE mandt,
            lifnr                 TYPE lfa1-lifnr,
            bgg                 TYPE zmpit_ven_bgg_rg-matkl,
            ind                  TYPE zmpit_ven_bgg_rg-active_ind,
            created_by      TYPE zmpit_ven_bgg_rg-created_by,
            created_on      TYPE zmpit_ven_bgg_rg-created_on,
            last_changed_by TYPE zmpit_ven_bgg_rg-last_changed_by,
            last_changed_on TYPE zmpit_ven_bgg_rg-last_changed_on,
            remarks              TYPE zmpit_ven_bgg_rg-remarks,
            ind1(1)                TYPE c,
                 END OF ty_ven_bgg.
    Here, ind1 is not field  of the table.
    I have added a new field Remarks in the table and thus i included it in the Internal table also.
    Above Modify statement was working fine without Remarks field. I am not able to understand the error
    as work area is also of type ty_ven_bgg.
    Please suggest some solution.
    Regards,
    Nibha

    Hi,
    Though you have creaated one more internal tsble without the indc field, but you can do it using the same intrenal table by simply using
    1. MOVE-CORRESPONDING <internal table> to <ztable>.
    2.MODIFY <ztable>.
    will solve your problem
    Secondly declare the internal table using DATA after structure has been declared using TYPES.
    This is better approach to follow.

  • How to receive parameters from a form and insert values in db using servlet

    Hi friends,
    My first question here.
    I'm trying to create a Servlet that takes input from a form and process it and insert it in database.tablename.
    My MAIN ISSUE IS WITH THE NUMBER OF COLUMNS THAT WOULD BE DYNAMIC AND THUS CANT RECEIVE THE PARAMETERS IN STATIC CODE.
    Here is the form code
    <%@page contentType="text/html" pageEncoding="UTF-8"%>
    <!DOCTYPE html>
    <form action="Test" method="post" />
    <table width="90%" border="1" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="1">
    <tr>
    <th scope="col">Student Name</th>
    <th scope="col">RollNo</th>
    <th scope="col">Java</th>
    <th scope="col">J2ee</th>
    </tr>
    <tr>
    <td><input type="text" name="studentname" /></td>
    <td><input type="text" name="rollno" /></td>
    <td><input type="text" name="java" /></td>
    <td><input type="text" name="j2ee" /></td>
    </tr>
    <tr>
    <td><input type="text" name="studentname" /></td>
    <td><input type="text" name="rollno" /></td>
    <td><input type="text" name="java" /></td>
    <td><input type="text" name="j2ee" /></td>
    </tr>
    <tr>
    <td><input type="text" name="studentname" /></td>
    <td><input type="text" name="rollno" /></td>
    <td><input type="text" name="java" /></td>
    <td><input type="text" name="j2ee" /></td>
    </tr>
    </table>
    <input type ="submit" value="insert values in the database now"/>
    </form>

    doGet(request, response);
    public void doGet(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException, IOException
    This is the basic code structure and I'm trying to figure out this special case with handling the multiple parameters:
    1. I dont' want to use String []a=request.getParameterValues("studentname"); as hard code. The reason being the number of rows will be diyamic and I would like to get the column name and then then use an array of string to take values. But how can I connect these to form a query so that the rows goes on inserted one after other.
    Thanks,
    Mashall

    Thank you for your help.
    I'm something close to it but this segment of code throws a NullPointerException Error. I counted number of rows and columns using the methods getColumnCount() and getColumnName(i).
    ResultSetMetaData md = res.getMetaData(); //Get meta data for the resultset
    int noofcolumns=md.getColumnCount();
    out.println("<br />Number of columns in table (including name and roll number) :::: "+noofcolumns+"<br />");
    for(int i=1;i<=noofcolumns;i++) // access column 1....n
    String columnname = md.getColumnName(i); // get name of column 1....n
    out.println("<br />Current column name ::: "+columnname+"<br />"); //check if the name appear correct.
    String []columndata = request.getParameterValues(columnname); //Get raw value in array
    for(int j=1;j<=rows;j++) // here rows is number of rows in each column
    out.println("To be inserted: <b>"+columndata[j]+"</b> in Row ::: "+j+"<br />");
    //The line above thows null pointer exception.
    }

  • Using servlets to read from text file and insert data

    Hi,
    Can I use a servlet to read from a space delimited text file on the client computer and use that data to insert into a table in my database? I want to make it easy for my users to upload their data without having to have them use SQL*Loader. If so can someone give me a hint as how to get started? I appreciate it.
    Thanks,
    Colby

    Create a page for the user to upload the file to your webserver and send a message (containing the file location) to a server app that will open the file, parse it, and insert it into your database. Make sure you secure the page.
    or
    Have the user paste the file into a simple web form that submits to a servlet that parses the data and inserts it into your db.

    Thank you.
    And another question if the data is already there in the child table if i try to load alone it must delete the old data in the child tablee and need to get load the new data and
    How to do this ?
    Arunraj Kumar
    You can do that with an IF EXISTS condition
    IF EXISTS (SELECT 1
    FROM YourChildTable c
    INNER JOIn @temptable t
    ON c.Bkey1 = t.Bkey1
    AND c.Bkey2 = t.Bkey2
    DELETE t
    FROM YourChildTable c
    INNER JOIn @temptable t
    ON c.Bkey1 = t.Bkey1
    AND c.Bkey2 = t.Bkey2
    INSERT INTO YourChildTable
    where Bkey1,Bkey2 etc forms the business key of the table

  • Acrobat form field that allows Reader user to browse and insert a picture into a predefined area

    Is there a way to do insert a form field into an AcroForm that allow Reader users to browse and insert a picture into that form field?
    I know that LiveCycle can do this, but I need to do this using an AcroForm. Or maybe there's a third-party plug-in that can be used in an AcroForm to do this?

    Jay,
    The new version of Reader, which was announced today (see AcrobatUsers.com), will now allow you to use the field.buttonImportIcon method: http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.737.html
    For a bit more information, see: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/743823
    Here's the minimum code that can be used in the Mouse Up event of a button that's configured with a layout that's something other than "Label only":
    // Mouse Up script for a button
    event.target.buttonImportIcon();
    Since this isn't backwards compatible with Reader, you'll probably want to add additional code to test what version is being used and alert the user if it's pre-11. You should also check the return value to see if anything went wrong. The hard part is getting everyone to upgrade, but this and a number of other features should make it worth it.

  • Relation between record in a form and insert statement written in button

    hi all,
    i am using Forms [32 Bit] Version 6.0.8.24.1 (Production).
    i have a master detail form with relation
    A is master of B, B is master of C and a button which resides on control block(other than A,B,C).
    so i will insert a one record into the block 'A' and i will press button which will insert particular record into particular table.
    so when i try to move to next record('A' block) it is asking for database change. when i give 'yes' everything is ok. but when i give 'no'(w.r.t that record) and moves to next record and inserts the record and insert record throguh button also, at this time user press 'yes' then the first record is not saving but what ever i have inserted through the insert statement is not rolling back.
    How can i control insert statement with the respect to datablock change in the block.
    The block 'C' data is going to the other table through insert statement the block 'C' i am posting. So due to 'post' the block is not getting cleared so insert statement is also firing.
    In other words i want to unpost the posted data when user press 'no' in the database message.
    I know there is nothing to do with the forms message. But is its possible to control when user press 'no' then the insert statement should not gets saved into the table.
    Please help.
    Thanks..

    First off, you need to understand how Oracle Forms interacts with an Oracle database. Forms natively handles all DML transactions for you. Meaning, if you have a Forms data block based on a database table, Forms will generate all the necessary DML to handle any changes that occur in that block. You do not need to write your own DML statements in code.
    so i will insert a one record into the block 'A' and i will press button which will insert particular record into particular table.Is Block "A" based on a table? How are you inserting the record into the table? If you are writting your own DML to insert the record this would explain why you are being prompted to save when you change records. As I mentioned, if your block is based on a table, Forms will know if you change a value within the block.
    How can i control insert statement with the respect to datablock change in the block.If your blocks are based on tables, let Forms handle the DML! don't do it yourself.
    In other words i want to unpost the posted data when user press 'no' in the database messageIf your block is based on a table, when you are prompted to save changes - answering 'NO' will automatically clear the current record of the data block (in essence - rollback the change).

  • Insert doc/pdf/jpg into BLOB using forms (web based)

    Hi All,
    we have 81741 db on window2000(data server), forms6.0.8.20.1 on windows2000(webserver)
    & users using IE6/netscape as setup. User wants to store a pdf/doc/jpg file (stored on his PC)
    into database.
    He wants ability to view this pdf/doc/jpg later & have ability to download again to his pc. Please note
    that we have web based setup & not using HTTP server (using WebDB listener).
    I am planning to use BLOB to store the table in database, but cannot figure out what/how to force forms
    to do this.
    If someone has done this before, could you please update this thread on how to proceed.
    Thanks a lot for your input...
    Abhi.

    AS far as inserting images you can use the image item in Oracle Forms and base it on a blob column in the database.
    Regarding the other types of data you can upload them to the database using a Java function on the application server (use the java importer from Forms to call the Java class). You can use another Java function to retrieve the info from the database to the application server, and then use web.show_document to get the file from the application server to the client.
    Or you can wait a few weeks for the Webutil utility that will have this functunality built into it.

  • Form Email and Insert to DB

    I'm trying to get a form both - email and insert into a database the form information.  Below, you can see the code I am using.
    Here is my setup:
    1. I have a form where the action is a file called formmail.php
    2. This file inserts the data into a database and then includes another file called phpmail.php
    3. phpmail.php first looks in a file called zipcodes.php where I've set a number of arrays for various possible zipcodes.
    4. phpmail.php then emails the form data to the email addresses associated with those zipcodes.
    Without the formmail.php step - it works perfectly.
    With the formmail.php step - it inserts it into a database, checks if the email address is formatted correctly, but does not email anyone.
    Do you know why?   Below is the code for the various files:
    formail.php
    <?php
    $con = mysql_connect("localhost","user","password");
    if (!$con)
    die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error());
    mysql_select_db("phtsystem", $con);
    $sql="INSERT INTO leads (firstname, lastname, address, city, `state`, zip, phone, email, comments, reason) VALUES ('$_POST[name2]','$_POST[last_name]','$_POST[address]','$_POST[city]','$_POST[state]','$_POST[zip]','$_POST[phone2]','$_POST[email]','$_POST[comments]','$_POST[reason]')";
    if (!mysql_query($sql,$con))
    die('Error: ' . mysql_error());
    include "phpmail.php";
    ?>

  • Use of the "updlock" hint with update and insert statements

    I have inherited some stored procedures and am trying to figure out why the developers decided to use the "updlock" hint on many of the update and insert statements. I have looked around everywhere and have found only one explanation of why "update...with
    (updlock)" can be useful, namely when a table has no clustered index:
    http://www.sqlnotes.info/2012/10/10/update-with-updlock/ I have found nothing yet that mentions why "insert into...with (updlock)" might be used. I understand why the hint
    might be useful on select statements in some cases, but if all of the tables have clustered indexes, is there any good reason to use it on update and insert statements?
    Thanks,
    Ron

    This form of deadlock error can occur on a table which has a clustered index.
    If you are doing updates on a table which has a clustered index and that table also has a nonclustered index and the nonclustered index is used to find the row to update you can see this type of deadlock.  For example create a table with a clustered
    primary key index and a nonclustered index by running
    Create Table Foo(PK int primary key identity, OtherKey varchar(10), OtherData int);
    go
    Insert Foo Default Values;
    go 10000
    Update Foo Set OtherKey = 'C' + Cast(PK As varchar(10))
    Create Unique Index FooIdx On Foo(OtherKey);
    That creates a table with 10000 rows, a clustered index and a nonclustered index.  Then run
    Begin Transaction
    Update Foo Set OtherData = 1 Where OtherKey = 'C5'
    That will use the FooIdx index to find the row that needs to be updated.  It will get a U lock on the index row in the FooIdx index, then an X lock on the row in the clustered index, update that row, then free the U lock on FooIdx, but keep the X lock
    on the row in the clustered index.  (There is other locking going on, but to simplify things, I'm only showing the locks that lead to the deadlock).
    Then in another window, run
    Begin Transaction
    Update Foo Set OtherData = 2 Where OtherKey = 'C5'
    This will get a U lock on the index row in the FooIdx index, then try to get an X lock on the row in the clustered index.  But that row is already exclusively locked, so this second window will wait holding a U lock on FooIdx row and is waiting for
    an X lock on the clustered index row.
    Now go back to the first window and run
    Update Foo Set OtherData = 3 Where OtherKey = 'C5'
    This will once again try to get the U lock on the FooIdx row, but it is blocked by the U lock the second window holds.  Of course the second window is blocked by the X lock on the clustered index row and you have a deadlock.
    All that said, I certainly do not routinely code my updates with UPDLOCK.  I try to design databases and write code so that deadlocks will be rare without holding excessive locks.  The more locks you hold and the longer you hold them, the more
    blocking you will get and the slower your system will run.  So I write code that if a deadlock exception occurs, it is properly handled.  Then if too many deadlocks occur, that is the time to go back to the code to see what changes are needed to
    decrease the number of deadlocks (one way to do that may be to get locks earlier and/or hold them longer.
    But I wouldn't worry much about this form of deadlock.  It is, in my experience, vary rare.  I don't recall ever seeing it in a production environment.

  • Tabular Form - submit custom data and insert/update records

    I have a tabular form with 2 columns representing table data and 5 more custom columns.
    Task ID
    Task Name
    10/7/2013 to 10/13/2013
    10/14/2013 to 10/20/2013
    10/21/2013 to 10/27/2013
    10/28/2013 to 11/3/2013
    11/4/2013 to 11/10/2013
    1
    TASK1
    2
    TASK2
    3
    TASK3
    I use an sql which returns null values for columns 3 to 7. Then I use the html formatting option of apex and jquery to add change the headers to weeks and add checkboxes.
    My sql: select task_id, task_name, null week1, null week2, null week3, null week4, null week5 from <table name>
    My table has the columns task id, task name , start_date and end_date.
    When the user clicks the submit button, i need to send the checkbox data to my stored procedure and insert records into the corresponding table. I am unable to find out how to send a mapping of the task_id, date headers in each column and the checkbox data to apex back end and process them. For example, if the first check box in first row is checked, i should insert a row with values "1, TASK1, 10/7/2013, 10/13/2013". I also have to read the data from the table and display it in the same format. Please let me know how to accomplish this in apex.

    instead of using null, you can use apex_item api to create check boxes
    read http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E37097_01/doc/doc.42/e35127/apex_item.htm#CHDDCHAF
    you can set the value of check boxes using apex_item api and then the value can be captured in your process
    check this: Martin Giffy D'Souza on Oracle APEX: APEX Report with checkboxes (advanced).
    let me know if this answers your query in the current thread

  • Using blobsin database and ole in forms ,reports

    Dear forum ,
    I have one thread to you, its stopping me from moving forward.
    I am using forms 6i ,reports 6i ,db above 9i.
    I had created database table haveing one blob column ,used the column in form as ole object and inserted a record contains (opened ms office excel sheet ,i need some part of rows columns matrix copied -it contains data taken) copied in forms runtime and saved.
    And the same table used in oracle reports the column as ole column, generated the output to pdf ,or word .
    the inserted records -bolob images are not retriveing or not shown in generated file can be pdf or word or html ?
    what is the reason.
    can you help me the proceeding.
    Thanks & Regards ,
    Deviprasad.m

    I don't think its possible to include a word-doc or a pdf stored in a blob in a report. A blob in reports can be used to show an image, like a jpg or gif.
