Uh Oh, Students Grade Themselves a "C" - or Worse - On Personal Finance
As I have a child going off pretty soon to college, I was laughing at the truth of a brief article posted regarding how kids these days have not really prepared regarding personal finance and have a few misconceptions. Stats in the article are rather interesting. http://www.moneysedge.com/newsimage?id=133 I truly wonder at times if some of these kids are going to be able to balance their own checkbook when they are on their own. When I was in university about 20 years ago, having to take an economics class that included the fundamentals of personal finance were mandatory. Not sure if it still is nowadays. Anyway, figured as I just joined the group I should share. I was hoping that my concern of this was not in the minority.
Funny article! I graduated univeristy in 2007 and economics was not required at my school although my high school did require a half year economics class to all seniors. That half year class was more useful than 98% of any other class I've ever taken (including my uni courses). We actually had to make a budget, find a pretend job and figure out our paycheck, find an apartment, etc. in a report as a project. It really taught me a lot about being on my own and budgeting money. I will admit I still don't know much about 401(k)s/retirement investments and I am 30 now. I knew almost 0 about credit until I started reading myFico after getting a car loan. I think a class should be required in high school and/or university about finances.

Student grades query of two courses
Hi everybody
I need some advices from experts. I'm trying to make a suitable database for students grades. I'm a bit confused in how to gather all grades of each single student into one from. let say that the students have two courses, where each course has 4 tests. The
4 tests of the two courses are summed separately, so we will have two total grades. Finally, the average of the two grades is considered as the final grade. Here I would like inquire, should I create one query for all grades or it is better to create a query
for each course grades then create a third query to gather the two queries. Note that I need to print out the first course grade (including the tests ). Also, In the second course I will have to print out the whole grades in details for the two courses.

I am traying to compile program Grade2 which processes student assignment marks to determine how many students obtained each of possible grades: 1 to 5. The user enters each grade as an integer and to mark the end of the data stream a 0 or negative number. One should use suitable array to hold the numbers of students with each grade.

Thank you for last reply, it was a error of capital letter G for grades2, as you rightly noted. Now it complies fine but still does not do the task, eg I am supose to count a number of students with each grade and store them in the array, this rutine only notes array elements index for grade entered not a number of students with that grade. Please refer back to the original code and advise what to do to reflect this task. This is a repeat of the code:

Need Advice-Adobe Connect and tracking student grades
I know that Adobe Connect can be used as a LMS, I need to know how to track grades for each student. Also each student has to pay for the class, How can I limit or control who logs in to the class. I dont want the link to be passed around for any one to use. I,ll take all the help I can get. Thanks for any help or advice.
The question is, how do I "track each individuals progress through your training, and you will be able to pull reports that show that." When I have the reports published to Adobe Connect, all I see are aggregate results. I can find no way to get individual results.

How to find the lowest grade for each student using a Select query?

Grades can range from 0 to 20.
Name - varchar(50)
Grade - integer
I am trying to generate a SQL search to find each lowest grade for each student.
So far I have done:

where s.grade = (select min(grade) from student)
The result of that search returns me only the lowest grade of all the grades posted above, which is Francis - 5.
I want to find the lowest grade, but not only for Francis but also for every other student in the table.
How do I do that?

Modifying the 'Grade Book' template to have a Report for each student
The grade book template looks like it could save me from buying Bento 2 and look prettier in the process. However, I might need to get some applescript help.
The default template has a Report page, and it includes one student. The included comment says to change the students name to change the values.
I want to have one of those reports for each student automatically generated and printable so that I can give them to the students at the end of the term.
Obviously, I don't want to generate each report myself (320 students ... not a fun way to spend a day). Applescript seems like the solution, but I don't know how to use it.
Can anyone lend a hand?Not seeing exactly what you want it's hard to be sure what solution may work - fortunately there are others here that know far more than me.
I don't know how charts and graphs are moved to Pages, but if it cut and paste, I suspect it would be unlikely that you could do it with charts or graphs based on individual students. If it can be done with a mail merge, maybe it could.
But I'm thinking a different approach may be possible if the only charts or graphs you use are to show the class info and mail merge the individual student data.
Let me see if I can explain what I'm thinking of:
You mail merge info like scores for each test and/or just the average of each grade category, plus the overall average and personal comments.
As part of the pages document that is the same for every student, you could put the charts or graphs in for the class as a whole. For example, if you wanted the student to see the class average for each test to compare to their own score, you could have a graph for that CLASS info and then they could look at their mail merged info to see how they compared. It just wouldn't be part of the same graph.
I think this would let you have the same info as in the template, but structured a bit differently.
You may also be able to reproduce everything from individual tables into one big table - more than just normal summary info - and work from that. Basically it would be a table of just formulas pulling in from the other tables.
This is something I'm looking at for some of my projects, but I haven't worked out the details yet.

I am using the grade book template with numbers. However, I might need to get some applescript help.

However I have 300 pupils that I need to generate this report for. I want to have one of those reports for each student automatically generated and printable so that I can give them to the students at the end of the term.

Can anyone lend a hand?I think AppleScript probably is the best way to go here, but you probably ought to learn something about using it because it is often difficult to write and test a script on one system when it has to work on a different one. Yvan does a pretty good job of that, but my AppleScript skills are not that advanced.
My difficulties with your problem include:
I don't know what changes you might have made to the stock template in Numbers
I am using Snow Leopard, not Lion
I believe UI scripting is needed to duplicate a sheet, and I don't own the tools to determine how to select a sheet (if that is possible).
So, working with the unmodified template on my system, this is a script that I think does what you need (but it would probably have to be edited to suit your situation):

I received the student/teacher version of the CS6 Master collection from my school which I am currently enrolled at and I have recently started a production company with some colleagues and will be heavily using Premier Pro, After Effects and other applications for our business. We will be making money for our services so my question is will it be ok for me to use the student/teacher edition or will I need to get a CC subscription for commercial use?

I'm planning on purchasing the Student/teacher edition of Photoshop CS6. I would be installing it on my laptop to use for the next year or so. The real, practical differences between the STE and full commercial versions are some of the licensing conditions, as explained in that article e.g. you cannot resell the software, it can only be used on your own personal computer and you're not eligible for special deals such as the Photoshop Photography Program https://creative.adobe.com/plans/offer/photoshop+lightroom
Be aware also that, like all perpetually licensed Adobe software, the STE version comes with a platform specific serial number: Windows only or Mac only. So your future desktop must run the same operating system as your current laptop.

I have searched all day, having phoned 6 different numbers and researched everywhere to not get a definate answer to this question. We are in the UK, I do not want to spend money on software which she cannot legally use after her studies to produce work which she can sell commercially. 2 students received this error message when they are trying to connect their forallbadges.com accounts to their openbadges accounts. After receiving this error message during our class time, I wasn't even able to log in to their persona accounts. When I enter their email and password info, I then click Sign In but nothing happens. I'm kept on the same page.

The student account is still receiving the same error message. I've attached a screen shot of the error message.
There were also a few students that never received a verification email from persona after they created an account through forallbadges. It looks like the accounts are receiving an email that weren't receiving them before. I tried to create a persona account with a student that hadn't received a verification email and now she did! Everything then worked perfectly! I guess the programming update fixed that problem. -
