Uix & bc4j web.xml documentation

Is there a document somewhere that describes all of the various parameters available for the web.xml files used by uix and bc4j?
Thanks, Steve

Repost.
Hopefully there is something like this.

  • Automatic update of web.xml when running UIX application

    I moved my UIX project from 9.02 to 9.03. The UIX resource files have changed between the versions so I deleted the old cabo folder so that when I ran my applicaton for the first time it would rebuild it. When I ran my application my web.xml file was automatically updated with the following servlet initialisation parameters:
    <init-param>
    <param-name>oracle.cabo.servlet.pageBroker</param-name>
    <param-value>oracle.cabo.servlet.xml.UIXPageBroker</param-value>
    </init-param>
    <init-param>
    <param-name>oracle.cabo.ui.UIExtensions</param-name>
    <param-value>oracle.cabo.data.jbo.ui.JboUIExtension</param-value>
    </init-param>
    The problem is that I've got my own pageBroker already defined in web.xml so when I run my application it used UIXPageBroker instead. This took me a while to find - my app just suddenly stopped working. I don't know what actually updated web.xml but I think it needs to check for the presence of these parameters before inserting them.
    Cheers
    Ian

    Sorry about that Ian, I agree that the code should
    check for the presence of another PageBroker. I'll
    log a bug and bring this up with the development
    team.

    First off, the servlets do not redeployed properly after compilation. Any
    changes I made to a servlet, I had to down the weblogic server and bring it
    back up. What am I doing wrong with this??
    Second, weblogic.httpd.indexDirectories should not allow directory browse ..
    but it still does for this app. Am I missing something else?
    Third, JSP configuration that specifies where a directory is supposed to be
    compiled is useless cuz' it's always compiled in tmpwar dir, which is
    dynamically created if not already there. Should I add something else to
    this???
    Fourth, weblogic.httpd.documentRoot should allow me to just type in a URL,
    such as http://relyon1:7001/Kermit, and it should redirect to a
    file(specified by welcome-file-list tag) under the directory
    web(/weblogic/Kermit/web). However, it's not doing it.
    From the documentation that I've read, this should have been very siimple
    but it's not working the way the docs have it made it out be.... am I
    missing anything else??
    Please help.

    Currently we only officially support ADF 11g deployment to WebLogic.
    There is at least one report of someone running this on Tomcat here:
    JDev 11.1.1.1.0 + ADF+ BC4J application on Tomcat6
    Note that this will require you to have an ADF runtime license though.

  • UIX BC4J Java

    How could I transfer the information from UIX site in my Java class and work it on.
    My Scenario:
    Each employee works in a departmebt.
    Now I want to change the department of a employee.
    I show all departments,that I have and I select the current one,
    I would like to select another department and display it by my employee.
    I call method of my class TestSel in UIX in handlers::
    <event name="find" >
    <bc4j:findRootAppModule name="ViewAppModule" >
    <bc4j:findViewObject name="View" >
    <ctrl:method class="bo.TestSel" method="doSel"/>
    </bc4j:findViewObject>
    </bc4j:findRootAppModule>
    </event>
    package bo;
    import...
    public class TestSel {
    public static EventResult doSel(BajaContext bc, Page page, PageEvent event){
    ViewObject res = (ViewObject)bc.getProperty("http://xmlns.oracle.com/uix/bc4j", "viewObject");
    Row cur=res.getCurrentRow();
    //Not the selected position, but the last of the site (in range)
    System.out.println("cur"+cur.getAttribute("Id1").toString()) ;
    System.out.println("cur"+cur.getAttribute("FmlyNam").toString()) ;
    if (res.getEstimatedRowCount() != 0)
    RowSetIterator secondRSI = res.createRowSetIterator("secondRSI");
    if (secondRSI.hasNext())
    Row firstRow = secondRSI.first(); //the first row
    System.out.println(firstRow.getAttribute("Id1").toString()) ;
    System.out.println(firstRow.getAttribute("FmlyNam").toString()) ;
    secondRSI.closeRowSetIterator();
    How could I get selected data record here?
    How could I change a value of attributes and apply it in UIX ?
    Help me please!!!
    Inna.

    Would it be easier to use a custom method on the bc4j Application module?
    Take this scenario...
    1. User opens UIX XML web page which opens a bc4j App Module..it has a VO based on all employees.
    2. User presses the add button and a new employee is created (using the bc4j App Module).
    (Notice: no commit yet!)
    3. User presses the submit button...fires event REVIEW_SALARY.
    4. This event is 'handled' in the event section of the UML XML...it calls:-
    public static EventResult handleREVIEW_SALARYEvent (BajaContext context, Page page, PageEvent event)...
    5. I now want to call a java class I wrote that computes an employees new salary and updates the employee record with this new salary. This update will fail unless it is part of the same transaction as the one used by the bc4j App Module (that inserted the new employee).
    How best to proceed from here?
    How about having a method on the bc4j App Mod's VO called 'reviewSalary'? Calling this would use the same transaction? I could then call my java class from within the VO's method? However do I still have the same problem in that my java class expects to be passed the connection object?
    The approach you suggested previously seems a touch dangerous....in that these are not 'publically exposed'...and a new release of JDev may break my code.
    Thanks,
    Paul.

  • Error trying to update web.xml

    I'm trying to update  web.xml via these instructions:

    Ideas?  I'm signing in as Administrator, so why would the operation not be allowed?
    This is a 7.0 system, and the instructions are for a nw2004 system.  We've successfully uploaded the web.xml file before, so I'm thinking that something has changed in 7.0 that's preventing the upload.

    This page of the documentation indicates that the technique is the correct case:

    So, one of two things has happened:
    1. The documentation is in error, or
    2. A bug has been introduced.
    I'm hoping it's #2....

  • How to configure ADF application to use OAM Identity Assertion ? web.xml

    We have a web application developed using ADF (application development framework) and deployed on WebCenter 11.1.1.2 (weblogic 10.3.2)
    OID Authentication and OAM identity assertion is configured in WebLogic 10.3.2 .
    How to configure security in ADF application (web.xml or weblogic.xml) so that it uses OAM identity assertion (already configured as authentication providers in weblogic server)
    Any pointers or documentation so that application (developed using ADF) check for identity tocken and verifies it with one of identity assertion providers.

    John,
    I have to concur. With OAM you don't need this. OAM intercepts the calls and inserts a cookie for WLS to get user information from.
    I strongly advise to go through the above mention OFM Security Guide. Esp. Chapter 10 tells you in every detail how to implement OAM SSO with WLS (with or without OHS as a proxy).
    Reading this chapter saves you time and turnarounds on this topic...

  • Using security-constraint in web.xml; not recognizing url-pattern tag

    I am creating a very simple jsp application within JDeveloper 10.1.3.1. I have 2 jsp files...a readData.jsp and a maintainData.jsp. I would like to deploy this application to Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.2. I would like to use Oracle Internet Directory with Single Sign on enabled. The deployment to OAS works fine. For the security, I would like an administrator user to get to both pages...and a user to only be able to see the readData.jsp. I used the security constraints on the properties of the web.xml file within JDeveloper. Here is my web.xml file:
    <?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'windows-1252'?>
    <!DOCTYPE web-app PUBLIC "-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD Web Application 2.3//EN" "http://java.sun.com/dtd/web-app_2_3.dtd">

    <security-constraint>

    <web-resource-name>adm_full_access</web-resource-name>
    <url-pattern>*</url-pattern>
    </web-resource-collection>
    <auth-constraint>
    <role-name>adm_all</role-name>
    </auth-constraint>
    </security-constraint>
    <security-constraint>
    <web-resource-collection>
    <web-resource-name>usr_access</web-resource-name>
    <url-pattern>readData.jsp</url-pattern>
    </web-resource-collection>
    <auth-constraint>
    <role-name>usr_all</role-name>
    </auth-constraint>
    </security-constraint>
    <login-config>
    <auth-method>BASIC</auth-method>
    </login-config>
    <security-role>
    <role-name>usr_all</role-name>
    </security-role>
    <security-role>
    <role-name>adm_all</role-name>
    </security-role>
    </web-app>
    When I deploy to OAS I added an OID account to the adm_all role...this works fine I can log on as that user and get to both jsps. But, when I add my user to the usr_all role within OAS I try to log on to the app...I then enter my SSO username and password and I get Access Denied errors from my browser when trying to access either page. I am confused about the <url-pattern> tag...is that relative to a directory within my deployment? Most of the examples I have seen use servlets...so I was wondering if I can even use the <url-pattern> tag to restrict/allow access to individual jsps? If someone could point me to some documentation on this set-up I would appreciate it!
    Thank you.

    I was able to get this to work. By doing the following:
    <security-constraint>
    <web-resource-collection>
    <web-resource-name>adm_full_access</web-resource-name>
    <url-pattern>*</url-pattern>
    </web-resource-collection>
    <auth-constraint>
    <role-name>adm_all</role-name>
    </auth-constraint>
    </security-constraint>
    I was restricting access to all other groups by uisng <url-pattern>*</url-pattern>. Any other security-constraints set-up after that will not work. So saying * requires usr_all will restrict ALL webpages to ONLY adm_all, regardless of what future constraints say. So, my first security-constraints lists all directories or pages that every user can access. My next security-constraint then list resources that only my admins (adm_all) can acess. Any other security constraints then are set-up for each user role that I have...if adm_all should have access to these then the <role-name>adm_all</role-name> is added to each security constraint.

  • How can I change application's web.xml in NetWeaver CE 7.1?

    Hello Experts,
    Please help me. I need to configure a J2EE application on NetWeaver 7.1, but I don't know how I can change the web.xml of the application.
    The web.xml of the app needs to be modified during the configuration. This can be achieved via single-file-update in VA in Netweaver 6.4 or 7.0. But I cannot figure out how to do that in NW 7.1.
    Please show me how to do that or at least give me some hints.
    Thank you!
    Jack

    Hi Jack,
    In SAP NetWeaver 7.1 and later, you use the SAP NetWeaver Administrator instead of Visual Administrator.
    To get some information on how to configure web applications, try [THIS|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce10/helpdata/en/45/48a60a528608d1e10000000a11466f/frameset.htm] piece of documentation.
    I hope it helps.

  • Tomcat web.xml "display-name" using flex.messaging.MessageBrokerServlet

           Hello,
    When my web application starts with the BlazeDS servlet flex.messaging.MessageBrokerServlet defined in the web.xml we have an error because in the display-name defined at top level in web.xml we have some text containing character ':'. The error is traced to inside the function
             flex.management.BaseControl.getObjectName()
    Which gets the object name, and this function calls
       BaseControl.getApplicationId()
    which finally calls
    ServletConfig.getServletContext().getServletContextName()
    This will return or display-name from the web.xml with all  it's text. This text contains among other characters the character ':'.  We use this tag for the display in the Tomcat Manager to see version  number and other of deployed project.
    After retrieving this name it is appended in the getObjectName() function to a buffer, this StringBuffer that already contains flex.runtime. and  now this name is appended (still with all that we are using for Tomcat  Manager with ':' character and other). After the name, other things are  appended. Our problem is that, after constructing this StringBuffer an instance of javax.management.ObjectName is created. In it's constructor it takes a String name  as input. This String is parsed in base of characters ':', '*', '?',  '\n' and so on, and since we have some of these characters in our  display-name it all goes wrong.
       My question is, if this is a bug, a limitation or if it is documented that using flex.messaging.MessageBrokerServlet we can not use certain characters in the display-name of the web.xml?

  • Using taglib in web.xml in WLS 9.2

    I am trying to build a web application in which the JSPs refer to a JSF taglib at the following URI(http://java.sun.com/jsf/core). When i deploy the application in WLS 9.2 and attempt to load this JSP, WLS says that it is unable to resolve this taglib. I added the following to web.xml to help the application find the taglibs.

              <taglib-location>
              /WEB-INF/jsf_core.tld
              </taglib-location>
              </taglib>
              But now when i attempt to startup WLS, it looks like the appserver does not recognize the <taglib> as a valid element. It gives the following exception:
              Expected elements 'description@http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee display-name@http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee
              instead of 'taglib@http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee' here in element web-app@http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee
              ..." VALIDATION PROBLEMS WERE FOUND"
              Any clues as to what i am doing wrong here since I have seen documentation which shows using taglib elements in web.xml.
              Thanks
              Ramdas

    I figured out looking at one of the webapp samples that is packaged as part of WLS9.2 that the taglib element needs to be part of the jsp-config element.

  • 9.0.3, web.xml, context-param

    Using documentation found on oracle's website, where I needed to have a specific initialization parameter, I setup a context-param in web.xml. In 9.0.2, I got a warning (and posted here but got no response) but was able to continue. In 9.0.3 I can't run my project when I include this parameter.
    Here's what I add to web.xml
    <context-param>
    <param-name>ReportServerURL</param-name>
    <param-value>http://localhost:8888/reports/rwservlet</param-value>
    </context-param>
    when trying to compile, I get:
    Error(76,18): Invalid element 'context-param' in content of 'web-app', expected elements '[taglib, resource-ref, security-constraint, login-config, security-role, env-entry, ejb-ref]'.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

    If only you would see web-app.dtd you could know that context-param must be enclosed in web-app and be at certain place. See that (from web-app.dtd):
    <!ELEMENT web-app (icon?, display-name?, description?, distributable?,
    context-param*, filter*, filter-mapping*, listener*, servlet*,
    servlet-mapping*, session-config?, mime-mapping*, welcome-file-list?,
    error-page*, taglib*, resource-env-ref*, resource-ref*, security-constraint*,
    login-config?, security-role*, env-entry*, ejb-ref*, ejb-local-ref*)>

  • Order of servlet mapping in web.xml

    Hello,
    is the order of multiple <servlet-mapping> in web.xml important? Or it doesn't matter in which order they are declared?
    For example, if i have two controllers, one is
    <servlet-name>Faces Servlet</servlet-name>
      <servlet-class>javax.faces.webapp.FacesServlet</servlet-class>
      <load-on-startup>1</load-on-startup>
    </servlet>
    and the second:
      <servlet>
        <servlet-name>FrontController</servlet-name>
        <servlet-class>servlets.FrontController</servlet-class>
      </servlet>
    and the mapping are:
       <servlet-mapping>
        <servlet-name>FrontController</servlet-name>
        <url-pattern>/jsf/*</url-pattern>
      </servlet-mapping>
    <servlet-mapping>
        <servlet-name>Faces Servlet</servlet-name>
        <url-pattern>*.jsf</url-pattern>
      </servlet-mapping>where /jsf/ contains jsp pages containing jsf components.
    is the order important?
    And may second question is:
    if i call the jsp page test.jsf in /jsf/test.jsp , which controller is responseble? Faces servlet or Frontcontroller?

    Here is what the 2.4 specification says on the matter (section SRV.11.1):
    >
    The path used for mapping to a servlet is the request URL from the request
    object minus the context path and the path parameters. The URL path mapping rules below are used in order. The first successful match is used with no further matches attempted:
    1. The container will try to find an exact match of the path of the request to the
    path of the servlet. A successful match selects the servlet.
    2. The container will recursively try to match the longest path-prefix. This is done by stepping down the path tree a directory at a time, using the / character as a path separator. The longest match determines the servlet selected.
    3. If the last segment in the URL path contains an extension (e.g. .jsp), the servlet container will try to match a servlet that handles requests for the extension. An extension is defined as the part of the last segment after the last . character.
    4. If neither of the previous three rules result in a servlet match, the container will attempt to serve content appropriate for the resource requested. If a "default" servlet is defined for the application, it will be used.
    The container must use case-sensitive string comparisons for matching.
    It also notes that in prior versions of the specification these were only a suggestion so if you are on servlet 2.3 or prior, you need to consult the documentation for your container.
    So, to answer your questions, no, order in the descriptor is not important.
    Also, based on the rules above, using your mappings, any URL starting with /jsf will be handled by FrontController including /jsf/test.jsp and /jsf/test.jsf.
