Unable to access EJB with servlet as client
Hi,
I am Naga, a java developer trying to work with Weblogic6.1 at present.
When i try to use Servlet as a client to my EJB, I am getting an error
saying that Home class not found.
i have kept the Servlet class file under
E:\bea\wlserver6.1\config\mydomain\applications\DefaultWebApp\WEB-INF\classe
s
folder.
i mentioned the EJB-ref tags in web.xml too, But it is not working.
How to make the EJB home and remote interfaces visible to Servlet with
weblogic6.1 ?
If i put the EJB.jar file under
E:\bea\wlserver6.1\config\mydomain\applications\DefaultWebApp\WEB-INF\lib
directory the application is working. Is this is the only way to do ?
After reading the article "EJB 2 and J2EE Packaging, Part II" at http://www.onjava.com/pub/a/onjava/2001/07/25/ejb.html,
i came to know that their is another way to do this, but i could not get it properly.
If any one could explain about the series of steps involved, that would be
really great and appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Naga.
Hi Naga,
If webApp and EJB are deployed as separate components,then you need to have EJB
classes in WEB-INF/classes of your webApp.
If the app is in EAR format then the servlet can see the EJb classes directly.
Thanks,
Vijay

Hi,
I have in service method my servlet code.

Is location attribute in orion-ejb-jar.xml used to specify JNDI name? Can i get the JNDI tree showing the name mappings in oc4j? How do i correct this error?
RaviRavi --
The most portable and standards oriented solution is to define an ejb-ref in the web.xml for the servlet, and then look up the name using the formal EJB UNC model.
web.xml:
<ejb-ref>
<ejb-ref-name>ejb/AppSessionFacadeHome</ejb-ref-name>
<ejb-ref-type>Session</ejb-ref-type>
<home>faqapp.ejb.AppSessionFacadeHome</home>
<remote>faqapp.ejb.AppSessionFacade</remote>
</ejb-ref>
servlet lookup
InitialContext ctx = new InitialContext();
Object homeObject = ctx.lookup("java:comp/env/ejb/AppSessionFacadeHome");
EJBHome ejbHome = (EJBHome)
portableRemoteObject.narrow (homeObject, AppSessionFacadeHome.class);

Accessing EJB's from CORBA clients
Hi!
Can someone answer one badly important question?
Is it possible to access EJB's from CORBA clients directly, as if the
beans were ordinary CORBA objects? I mean DIRECT access - WIDHOUT
CORBA/Java server application as a liason between CORBA client and EJB
server!
I'm using WebLogic Enterprise 5.0.1.
Thanks in advance.

To be perfectly honest, though, the best solution is to write a bridge,in

BadriHi Badri,
ApplicationClientInitialContextFactory is for clients which got deployed inside OC4J container..
For looking up EJB from a stand alone java client please use RMIInitialContextFactory..So please change ur code....
Also please check ur server.xml
Since you have specified your ejb domain as "sampledemo"
you have to use that domian only for look up..But it seems that you are looking up for "Demo" domain instead of "sampledemo" domain...So change your code to reflect that..
Code snippet for the same is :
Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
env.put("java.naming.provider.url", "ormi://localhost/sampledemo");
env.put("java.naming.factory.initial", "om.evermind.server.rmi.RMIInitialContextFactory");
env.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, "guest");
env.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, "welcome");
Context ic = new InitialContext (env);
Hope this helps

Security exception while trying to access EJB from stand alone client
Hi!, I am trying a sample EJB application to R&D some security related issues. I want to access EJB through a web application as well as a stand-alone client. I have set approriate <method-permission> in EJB deployment descriptor. I am using users.properties/roles.properties file for authentication mechanism. I am using JBoss 3.2.
- On the web application side I am using BASIC authentication and the servlet is able to access the EJB OK, as long as I am using a login/password that has access to the EJB.
- Now I am trying to access the EJB using a stand alone Java class. These are the things I have tried till now:
=>Created a InitialContext with appropriate principal, credentials and tried getting a reference to EJB home interface. That resulted in security exception.
=>Logged into a LoginContext by using appropriate JBossSX classes and then tried getting a EJB home interface. Again security exception.
Now I am not sure what to do. I read at some places about client side container but not sure what that is. Does anyone has any ideas to try? Is there any other way I can make a swing application and a web application authenticate to EJB container?
Also can anyone point me to any documentation that gives some idea about how the security credentials gets propagated from web application/standalone client to EJB container?It would be better if you can post your code...and DD that way we can help you better

Shutdown class; unable to access EJBs/JDBC
I have a fundamental question here, and for which I have not found any documentation
on BEA's own documentation center.
Can I, or can I not invoke operations on EJBs/JDBC/JNDI etc from my implementation
of weblogic.common.T3ShutdownDef??
Startup classes can in general access all resources, and they can also invoke
services on EJBs if LoadBeforeAppDeployments is false (the default) in config.xml.
However, the same does not seem to be true for shutdown classes. I am unable to
access services from a shutdown class.
As soon as I invoke weblogic.Admin with SHUTDOWN as the command, the server transitions
to STANDBY state and then the shutdown class is invoked.
The session bean is found and available, but when a transaction is sought to be
created to execute a finder on an EntityBean within the SessionBean, I get an
exception that transactions cannot be created in the Standby state of the server.
To get around this, I thought I will get a reference to the DataSource from JNDI
and execute a query on the JDBC connection, and that failed as well, saying that
JDBC connections are also not available.
Am I doing something wrong here? Or is this a bug.
I am developing on WLS 7.0.
Thanks!
Vivek.quote:
Please help me understand why. I have the easeToLoc setup to
received input variables:
The syntax of ActionScript dictates that you refer to the
callback function in the way that I pointed out. The only argument
that is passed to that listener function is an event object. This
is what it expects, nothing more. Take a look at the
docs
for more info, specifically the categories under Programming
ActionScript 3.0 -> Handling Events.
Looking at navPanelClose() and navPanelOpen(), the values
you're trying to pass seem more like constants to me, not
variables. So why not declare them as constants within this class
and refer to them as such within easeToLoc()? If you truly want to
use variables, perhaps creating a separate utility class to handle
this logic will work better.
When trying to access a method within one class from another
...let's say you want to access myMethod() within class MyAClass
from class MyBClass. You could:
1. Declare myMethod() as static and then refer to it from
anywhere after importing MyAClass. So you can call
MyAClass.myMethod() without having to instantiate MyAClass. This is
what you're trying to do here, I think.
2. Have class MyBClass extend MyAClass where myMethod() is
public or protected and MyBClass is in the same package as MyAClass
when it's declared as protected. For this to work you'd have to
instantiate MyBClass.

Problem accessing ejb from servlet
Hi,
I'm aving a problem accessing a stateful session bean from a servlet. I'm using a jndi lookup to do it because I need that a client has its own bean reference...
My code into the service method is:
InitialContext ctx;
try {
ctx = new InitialContext();
carrelloService = (CarrelloLocal)ctx.lookup("java:comp/env/ejb/Carrello");
and I have a reference to EJB into web.xml:
<ejb-local-ref>
<ejb-ref-name>ejb/Carrello</ejb-ref-name>
<ejb-ref-type>Session</ejb-ref-type>
<local-home></local-home>
<local>carrello.model.CarrelloLocal</local>
</ejb-local-ref>
If I use @EJB annotation to inject the servlet, it works fine.
Instead using jndi lookup throws a NamingException because it doesn't find java:comp/env/ejb/Carrello entry.
Any idea about the problem?Here's something simple that I have that works:

<p> </p>

The problem is when more than one user access almost at the same time, the one who enter frst can access, but the other one can't and return context lookup error in creating EJB.

static synchronized public DBConnectionManager getInstance() {
The word "synchronized" will allow only one user at a time to access the getInstance() method which returns DBConnectionManager. Suggest u read some stuff on the same
As I am not sure which App server ur using, u cld do the following
1. Create a Conection Pool in ur App Server itself (Weblogic/Websphere/Jboss way)
2. Create a DataSource which maps to this Connection Pool.
3. Use the DataSource object which handles poolong of Connections to access the database
4. As mentioned above, Read notes/documents on "Synchronized" and "Vector" before you use this word in any code of EJB. This will solve ur problem. Read topic called "Collection Framework".

Unable to access secondary subnet from VPN client
Please can someone help with the following; I have an ASA 5510 running v8.4(3)9 and have setup a remote user VPN using the Cisco VPN client v5.0.07.0410 which is working appart from the fact that I cannot access resources on a secondary subnet.
The setup is as follows:
ASA inside interface on 192.168.10.240
VPN clients on 192.168.254.x
I can access reources on the 192.168.10 subnet but not any other subnets internally, I need to specifically allow access to the 192.168.20 subnet, but I cannot figure out how to do this please advise, the config is below: -

Cryptochecksum:b8263c5aa7a6a4d9cb08368c042ea236Your config was missing a no-nat between your "192.168.20.0" and "obj-192.168.254.0"
So, if you look at your config there is a no-nat for inside subnet "obj-192.168.10.0" as shown below.
nat (inside,any) source static obj-192.168.10.0 obj-192.168.10.0 destination static obj-192.168.254.0 obj-192.168.254.0
So all you have to do is create a no-nat for your second subnet, like I showed you before, the solution was already there on your config but I guess you over looked at it.
I hope that helps.
Thanks

I have set "support client choice" while deploying the bean, and set which roles can access which methods. Any idea? Is my code is incorrect?I have the same problem like you.
If you solve it, please give me a hint.
Thank you very much!

Last year, my backpack containing my laptop and phone were stolen. My Recovery Key was saved as a screenshot on the laptop and on the phone and I have no other copy. I remotely wiped both devices. I had no insurance for such circumstances and replaced them at my own expense but I cannot access my AppleID account because Two-Step Verification is active and my old telephone number was replaced and I no longer have access to it. I can live with losing the devices as a result of my own stupidity, but Apple claims they are unable to restore my access to my old account in spite of the special circumstances. Apple can confirm my identity via my bank details and my email address but they do not seem to care. I've lost access to my music, software, calendars etc. I have a new AppleID - I had no other option but to set one up - but it irks me that Apple is unwilling to transfer purchases made on my old AppleID to my new one. I am considering taking legal action to regain my purchases and wonder if anybody else has found themselves in a similar situation.
If apple tracked deviced they sold they would be violating a great number of privicy laws and would face class action and criminal lawsuits in most of the western countries

Unable to access folders with RV082 QuickVPN
I have an office peer-to-peer network (win 7) connected with a QNAP NAS and a RV082 router. There is no proper naming (I don't know how to implement it) so everything is access via IP.
I managed to configure my RV082 to accept VPN connection from home via QuickVPN with cert etc and managed to ping all the running devices in the office, i.e. printers, nas, etc after connected with the office network.
However, when I try to browse the NAS say run "\\192.168.1.5\", it says "The network path was not found". But I could ping the IP just fine but not the name, I'm not sure if adding it into my lmhost will help.
I'm wondering if any of these has anything to do with my VPN settings? or is it my horrible network setup that is giving me the trouble. I also noticed that if i'm not on the same workgroup, when I try to browse office workgroup from Explorer/ Entire Network it will say "workgroup not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource..................."
Is this more of a Windows than my VPN issue? do I need other protocols besides TCP/IP such as NWlink netbios. I only have client for microsoft network, file sharing and tcp/ip running.Hi Yee,
Thank you for posting. Are you able to access shares on \\192.168.1.5 locally? If you can access the shares when you are onsite you should be able to access them using QuickVPN as well. You are correct that if you add the hostnames to the LMHosts file you will be able to access by name.
This sounds like an issue with the NAS itself. You can check this by trying to access a shared folder on a PC. You may need to disable any antivirus or firewall software on that PC before you can access shared folders.

Puzzler... Cant access RRAS with VPN connected client
I have a series of 4 VMs running server 2012 r2;
dc- my domain and wsus server
rds- my remote desktop server for remoteapps, RRAS for connecting to VPN
sql- sql server for database needed for one of the apps published
av- hosts kaspersky and manages backups
So, I have a VPN set up through RRAS and am connecting with it and all is well. I can ping every computer on the network EXCEPT the rds server. I can ping from the rds server to the vpn client.
I am trying to use a remote app over the vpn but the remote app is unable to reach the rds server.
Does something have to be setup manually to loopback traffic to the rds server when it is coming in on the same server through RRAS?
Any insight would be appreciated!
MattHi,
According to your description, my understanding is that rds installed RRAS and configured it as VPN server, VPN client successfully ping internal clients, but failed to ping the VPN server.
Are there 2 NICs on the VPN server? One connects to internal and another connects to external?
In general, a ping packet is sent by the client from its own IP address to the external IP address of VPN server, it will be unpacked once the VPN server receives it, and the VPN server will dispatch this pack due to the internal IP address. So, if this
packet is sent to the VPN server, when it unpack the packet and find it is sent to itself, the VPN server should reply to this packet.
You may try to turn off firewall/anti-virus software temporally, and then check to see if it can successfully ping. Besides, use a monitoring tool(Network Monitor, Wireshark ) to
capture packets on both client and VPN server, check to see if the packets are sent/answered to the correctly destination.
Best Regards,
Eve Wang
