Unable to administrate over Warehouse Builder workspace

When using oracle repository assistant (version 11.2) to alter authorized users or to drop an existing workspace, we are unable to continue successfully beyond step 4 of 5 where we identify the worksapce owner/admin user name and password. We have attempted to create several workspaces to make sure it was not a password authentication problem but we have identified that we are using the same exact password set when the workspace was first created using the same repository assistant application.
Error Message when trying to continue from step 4 of 5:
INS0009: Unable to connect to the database using user <username>. java.sql.SQLException: ORA-01017 invalid username/password;logon denied

I figured this one out by using an administrator account and directly altering the user password for the database user in question (the workspace owner); something about setting the password through the wizard caused problems for me, but bypassing the wizard did the trick.

  • Analytic Workspace Manager vs Warehouse Builder

When is it best to use Analytic Workspace Manager over Warehouse Builder to create the OLAP? Please advise.

We are using OWB to create OLAP because you have your metadata properly defined in the design repository of OWB from where you can deploy to different databases and schemas. We are also using OWB to create tables and other relational objects instead of using SQL Developer or Toad to do so.
Nevertheless there are some restrictions when using OWB: You cannot create programs with OWB (e.g. for limiting access to certain objects), not all aggregation operators are supported (e.g. the weighted aggregation operators like WSUM are not supported by OWB), you cannot create models, ...
If you come to these restrictions you could write "after-deployment scripts", i.e. you deploy your dimensions and cubes from OWB and let the scripts do what you could not model with OWB.
    Hope this helps!

    Where is my mistake?

I found my mistake. The tablespace was too small :-(
It had only 20MB instead of 200MB that I wanted to give it. Somehow strange. After I increased the tablespace to 200MB I got the following message in the repository assistant.
even if the tablespace was totally empty. After I set the tablespace to "autoextend on" the repository builder finished without errors even if it used only about 150MB of the 200MB.

  • Building workspace ... forever

    Hi,
I have quite a large project (containing 13 modules) and it is constantly showing Building workspace (between 1 and 10%) when I change something. I'm unable to run my changes until I clean the project (which also takes a minute or two) and then it goes good for 2-3 adjustments but then again I get into this Building Workspace loop which just starts over and over again (FB4) and I need to clean the project again
Anyone have any idea or solution because this is not productive at all!

You are using Flex SDK 4.0?
How many projects are present in your workspace? If you have more than one projects, do you have a mix of AIR/Web Projects?
Have you tried bumping up the memory heap for FB?
There are some optimizations around module compilation in the upcoming hero release.
    Thanks,

  • Oracle Warehouse Builder 10.1.0.4

    Hi All,
I am searching for Oracle Warehouse builder 10.1 release which is compatible with Oracle database 10gR2 on solaris x86 server.
I have found softwares for solaris sparc but nothing seems available for oracle 10gR2 on solaris x86.
OWB 10.1.0.3 is compatible with oracle database 10gR1 and owb 10.1.0.4 and owb 10.1.0.5 are only compatible with 10gR2.
Currently we are facing some problem with Owb 10.2.0.1 so we have to relay on owb 10.1 release.
Can any one help me to find link for downloading
OWB 10.1.0.4 or 10.1.0.5 for solaris x86 server...
    Thanks

I am still unable to find any owb 10.1.x.x release for solaris x86 environment.
Do any one have any link for this??

  • Oracle Warehouse Builder

    Dear buddies,
I need to migrate my tables and data from SQL Server 2005 to Oracle 10g.
My boss's requirement is I must be able to redo it at any point of time. Meaning, I should be able to use the script at any point to recreate the tables and reload them independently without using SQL Server or the existing configurations.
Does OracleWarehouse Builder provide such scripts after the migration or in the process of migration, which can be reused independently?
There are about 7 SQL Server databases and each has around 270 tables. Some would be totally new and some would involve merging.
    Please advice me.
    Thanks.
    Nith

    Hi everyone,
I tried to Just started like this
    1 - Start - All programs - Oracle Home - Warehouse Builder - Administration - Repository Assitant - Basic Install -
    2 - User Name=rep_user
    password=rep_user
    sysdba user name = sys
sysdba password = the password i gave during the database creation (using dbca)
    hostname=localhost
    port number = 1521
oracle service name = test6 (the name for the database & instance for which i just created)
When I click Next, this error pops us:
INS009: Unable to connect to the database with user SYS. jaba.sql.SQLException: IO Exception: The Network adapter could not establish the connection.
The remaining disk space for that drive is few gigs and I have created the database with the 16384.
Please advice on how I should go about this.
I have been struggling to perform my migration. I really hope someone would be able to guide me through.
    OS: Windows 2003 Enter Edition
    Oracle 10g
And I am not able to access anything from SQL Plus after I installed Oracle Warehouse Builder.
So, is the error I am facing something like to do with a bad installation? Do I need to uninstall my OWB or uninstall my oracle and OWB and reinstall them?
    Please guide me.
    Nith
    Thanks a lot.

Pls tell about any link to install Repository in linux environment.

    go to <ORACLE_HOME>/owb/unifiedrepos

    then run the following order
    sqlplus "/ as sysdba" @clean_owbsys.sql
sqlplus "/ as sysdba" @cat_owb.sql SYSAUX
    sqlplus "/ as sysdba" @unlock_owbsys.sql
    sqlplus "/ as sysdba" @reset_owbcc_home <DB_ORACLE_HOME>

Most cases this will resolve your issue.

  • Create Measure Folders with Oracle Warehouse Builder

    Hello,
Is there a possibility to create Measure folders (similar to what Analytic Workspace can do) but with Oracle Warehouse Builder?
    Thank you,
    Liviu Florean

    Hi Liviu
Unfortunately not. OWB generates a measure folder for the entire cube by default for deployment to AW. If you are keen, you could create an expert to generate/deploy the measure folder (define a UDO for a measure folder and an expert to generate the code for AWXML).
    Cheers

  • Connecting Oracle Warehouse Builder to an Informix data source

I am having trouble connecting Oracle Warehouse Builder to my Informix database. I am getting error ORQ-28545. Here is what I did: Under Project Explorer I went to Non-Oracle under Datases. Then right click on Informix and selected New. In the Create Module Window I edit a the Location. Gave it a name, Set Type to HOST:PORT:SERVICE, enter my username, passowrd, my Host IP, left Port as default(1521), enter my Service Name, Enter the Schema. Click on Test Connection and got the above mentioned error.

    Hi,
the first you should configure access to your Informix database at target Oracle DB (OWB works with non-Oracle DB over HS).
So you should perform all steps described in Oracle Database Heterogeneous Connectivity Administrator's Guide (4.1 Setting Up Access to Non-Oracle Systems):

  • Why Warehouse Builder

If the source of all my data is an Oracle DB - data is replicated from different Oracle DB's into a single Oracle DB through shareplex replication(E of ETL is done),
Q1) Will Warehouse builder be of any help if my data souce is just Oracle?
Q2) Will Warehouse builder help me in doing the T and L OF ETL?
Q3) How is warehousebuilder better than using normal pl/sql?

I am glad to see some independent responses to this question already. The question of hand-coding vs automated code-generation surfaces periodically from users, but you will find that the industry has moved on from that debate years ago, i.e there is a consensus that the advantages of code generation outweigh the disadvantages many times over. You can easily find vendor independent validation of this in press, analyst reports and expert opinions. For example here is a expert panel discursion in DM Review http://www.dmreview.com/article_sub.cfm?articleId=7198 Note that the only disadvantage mentioned is the high prices of some of the competing ETL products. This is not applicable to Oracle Warehouse Builder, which remains one of the most affordable products in this market.
Amongst OWB-specific collateral on advantages over hand-coding, take a look at this white paper http://otn.oracle.com/products/warehouse/pdf/business_introduction_to_warehouse_builder.pdf On pages 7 and 8 there are tables listing each area where OWB excels over hand-coding. To summarize this in a few words, by using Warehouse Builder you gain productivity in both initial design and deployment as well as in subsequent change management and operational control of your data warehouse. In the process you get the most optimized, debuggable and auditable code.

  • Unable To Print Over Ethernet Network on HP 6520 all in one

All computers are on windows 8.1. My question or issue is this: Prior to purchasing a Mediabridge wireless router, wireless-n broadband 300 mps router, I had a Zyxtel wireless access point router. I am both Ethernet and wireless. Prior to the Mediabridge I would network print to my HP printer both wireless (iPhone) and over an Ethernet network (PC's and Laptop).
There is an improvement in printing wirelessly on an iPhone. I cannot print over my Ethernet network any longer. I have to unplug my laptop prior to printing before my laptop can see the printer online. With my second PC in another room I am unable to print over the Ethernet network. The printers are installed, drivers and such, but as with the laptop, I would have to unplug the Ethernet cord to print.
My error messages are showing as cannot find printer or or my control panel printer devices show as offline. If I unplug my laptop I can see the printers online. However I don't want to have to take disconnect a second PC in another room to print.
Can you offer any suggestions. Do I need to plug my printer directly into the Mediabridge wireless router?

     Hi Nancyh1030,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP Photosmart 6520 Printer and getting the error and not printing. Here is a link to the HP Print and Scan Doctor. The HP Print and Scan Doctor will run a check on your system and connect the printer to same network as the computer. You do have to be connected to the same wireless as the printer to print to it. Unless you are using Eprint. If this does not help you contact Mediabridge.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

    Machine : P4
    Operating System :Windows XP
    ORacle : Version 9.2
    Oracle WareHouse Builder 9.2
    Ram :1GB
    SGA Size :Approximately 650M
I have 2 MetaData files which I have to import into OWB.
First file's size is 9M.It got imported properly in 4 minutes without any error.
    2nd File's Size is 30M.when
I start importing this MEtaData file.It goes upto 35% in Progress Bar.But after that it does not show any improvement.
I have left the machine running with this option upto 24 hours.
But nothing happened .It still shows only 35%.
I have checked log file/Trace file/Alert log files ,but there is no error in these files.
If any body have any solution about it,Please reply ASAP.I am stucked in this problem from last 7-8 days.
    Waiting for reply
    Thanks & Regards
    Harvinder Singh

    Thanks for your reply Igor.
As posted the OWB 10.1.0 software is running against a 9.2.0.8.0. database, so OWB still uses DBMS_JOB instead of DBMS_SCHEDULER in this database. In addition I already tested scheduling a simple job to run an OS command as suggested in note 365539.1 , and job scheduling is working fine.
There are no invalid objects in this database.

  • Scheduling in Warehouse Builder

    Hi all,
There is an urgent requirement for scheduling in warehouse builder in my project. Can any one provide me the doucument for the scheduling processes in warehouse builder.

    Hi
    There's 2 ways I've done this:
1 Use the scheduler in OWB - you need to license the Enterprise ETL option but then it's just a case of reading the manual and setting it up. You will need to have Oracle Workflow installed which is a bit more
involved but there's lots of posts about that elsewhere on the forum.
2 Use DBMS_SCHEDULER to run your processes or mappings. Read this blog at Rittman Mead: [http://www.rittmanmead.com/2005/04/28/scheduling-an-owb-90492101-mapping-or-process-flow-using-dbms_job/]
Set up the function and then call it via a pl/sql block which can be scheduled. Very quick to get set up and doesn't need a license.
Hope that's enough to get you started
