Unable to browse album art

I've been using iTunes 10.4 for a while now and have had intermittent problems wherein Cover Flow will not display Album covers. Sometimes it was necessary to Logout/Login or to restart the computer.
Today neither of those strategies will get iTunes cover Flow to display art (which appears in Grid and Album List views). How can I get this working?

I can't take credit for this, only for finding it...I just tried it and it works

  • Windows 7, Itunes 10.3.1.55. "iTunes is unable to browse album covers on this computer".

I just built a new Computer and sucessfully moved my iTunes Library and music over (Windows 7, Itunes 10.3.1.55).  I am getting a message on the cover flow view that states, "iTunes is unable to browse album covers on this computer".  This Cover Art is showing in all other views, so it is there.  I upgraded QuickTime and even install Safari.  This did not work.  I have a very large music collection and prefer the coverflow navigation.  Any suggestions on how to fix this?

I too am having a very similar problem with cover artwork in Itunes version 10.3.1.55 for my Windows 7, 64 bit computer. Certain Artists or Albums cover art will not show up and also when I try to manually add my own cover to the album it does not save. I can however, view with the coverflow option but its useless without all the cover art. I would greatly appreciate any help with fixing this very annoying problem.
I've looked into the direct x suggestions and that doesn't seem to be the problem. Thanks anyway, Polydorus.

  • Y?:  "iTunes is unable to browse album covers on this computer"

Y am I getting the mentioned message on my re-installed iTunes? As of 3:00 p.m. on 01/17/2009, I had over 1,000 songs with all album art until my computer crashed, again. Now that I've re-installed iTunes, in the place where there should be album art in the 'Cover Flow' view, I'm getting the following message: "iTunes is unable to browse album covers on this computer." How do I fix this?

  • Party Shuffle: "iTunes is unable to browse album artwork on this computer"

    Hello
I have recently had to completely wipe and reformat my hard-drive, after the Operating System started running really slowly. I'm now back up to speed and everything's great, including iTunes.
However, when I go to run the Party Shuffle, I get the above error message showing. Whilst this doesn't interfere with the functionality of the application, I was wondering if there was perhaps some additional component that needed to be installed in order to make iTunes able to display the artwork. For what it's worth, I can view the artwork in the Artwork Browser, just not in Jukebox mode.
None of this is a showstopper, but I know that I used to have this functionality and now I don't.
    TIA.

  • Unable to download album art present in the iTunes music store

I'm having a rather odd issue after moving my iTunes music folder to a new partition. It manifests itself as the inability to download artwork for certain albums that are available for purchase in the iTunes store, even though a short time ago the same covers were easily downloadable.
I'm 90% sure that this isn't an issue with the file tags, as these seem to mirror those present on the music store.
    Any solution would be welcomed.
    I'm using iTunes version 7.3.2.6

Are you saying that you can download album art for some albums in the iTunes store but not others?
If there was some general problem with the way you have iTunes set up or your connection, I would have expected you to have a problem with all album art. My first thought is that a problem with the tags seems most likely. The artist name and album name must be exactly right, other fields don't seem to matter. Have you checked for things like extraineous spaces?
iTunes album art is stored in the Album Artwork folder which is in your iTunes folder.

  • Unable to modify album art.

I am in the middle of getting album art for all of my music and haven't had any problems until now. I download the images and drag the file onto the music files to apply the art and it worked perfectly until recently. For some inexplicable reason I cannot modify the art myself anymore. When dragging the image all that appears is a crossed circle rather than a plus sign.
I made sure that all of the songs had read and write permission and looked for any other hidden options that may disallow me to change the artwork.
Has anyone had a similar problem and fixed it? Does anyone have any suggestions on how to repair my problem?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yep. iTunes 7.3 is trash. I had 7.1 installed into Vista and everything worked fine until I upgraded to 7.3. All my music is uncompressed AIF and all are properly tagged with artwork I restored from images around the net. When I cleared my library and added them again, the artwork was missing from all view settings. 7.3 has issues with displaying artwork. I've never had a single issue with this software until now.
I have an iPod and I need iTunes to work properly. Perhaps I'll just revert back to 7.1 and forget about upgrading again since the version I have works just fine.
