Unable to connect to localhost Windows 7 x64, CF9 x64

I've been following along with the Lynda.com tutorial on ColdFusion Builder. Everything went smoothly until the part where I'm supposed to attach CFB to the localhost. The Lynda.com presenter is on a Mac. I am running 64-bit Windows 7 and 64-bit ColdFusion 9 developer edition.
When I would add the local server to CFB, it would sit with status unknown forever. Eventually I would get a message on the console saying
     Error retrieving server version. Cannot perform the operation. Check if the server is accessible from web browser.
(I was following the thread about remote connection issues with great interest, but nothing there seemed to apply to my problem.)
I have tried a number of different permutations of installing and configuring the components.
CF9 x64 Stand-alone
CF9 x64 J2EE piggybacking on IIS
CF9 x64 J2EE built-in web server
I tried these with and without the most recent patches to CFB and CF9
With the built-in web server, I tried using cfusion:8300. I also tried creating a new server instance called localhost on 8500. When I tried adding localhost:8500 to CFB, CFB locked up.
I have a feeling that I'm either looking in the wrong place or I have overlooked something obvious. I just thought of one thing I haven't tried... I will try to install the 32 bit version of CF9 to see if that helps.
Any other advice would be appreciated. Is anyone else running CF9 x64 under Windows 7 x64?
--B

I decided to check the system reqs for CFB just in case I made an RTFM gaffe.
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=coldfusion_builder
ColdFusion Builder for Windows
    * 2GHz or faster processor
    * Microsoft® Windows® XP with Service Pack 3, Windows Vista® Ultimate or Enterprise (32 or 64 bit running in 32-bit mode), Windows Server® 2008 (32 bit), or Windows 7 (32 or 64 bit running in 32-bit mode)
    * 1GB of RAM (2GB recommended)
    * 1GB of available hard-disk space
    * Java™ Virtual Machine (32 bit): IBM® JRE 1.5, Sun™ JRE 1.5, IBM JRE 1.6, or Sun JRE 1.6
    * DVD-ROM drive
    * Eclipse 3.4.2 or Eclipse 3.5 32-bit (for plug-in installation)
So, no 64 bit version, but the 32-bit should work... well - that's one less thing.
I tried 32bit CF9 but the server wouldn't serve any pages. I kept getting a 500.0 error. Adobe has addressed this:
http://blogs.adobe.com/vikaschandran/2010/07/08/altering-application-pools-in-iis-764-bit- to-create-32-and-64-bit-connectors-with-coldfusion-964-bit/
but I decided to shut down IIS and run CF9 as a free-standing J2EE using its own built-in web server.
Once again, CFB locked up when trying to add the new localhost server. I'm going to uninstall and reinstall CFB...

    We are receiving following error, while trying to deploy the application on Win Phone emulator. “Windows Phone Emulator is unable to connect to the Windows Phone operating system: The phone did not respond to the connect
    request. Some functionality might be disabled.”
    I have tried all possible ways that we found on blogs. We are still not able to solve this issue

    I have had a lot of issues with the emulator in the past.
    Check out this troubleshooting guide. It might help:

    Also, I find that if I cancel my build/deploy while it is stuck on booting the OS and then wait a short while the phone OS will complete booting, and from that point I can deploy to the emulator. It's a workaround, but it works well for me.
    I need to do that on Windows 10 tech preview, which may or may not be simply an incompatibility with the beta OS.

  • 'unable to connect' and 'localhost' and index.php and dreamweaverCC

    Hi.
    I am developing a Web Site and index.php is my point of entry.

    httpd.conf file is modified to add index.php  and have it listed first.

    DirectoryIndex   index.php   index.html
    <IfModule>
    Troubleshooting:
    I was using Netbeans IDE and when I ran index.php it opened in the browser.
    When I launched 'any' of my index.php files from Netbeans IDE, they opened correctly in the brower
    I am now using DreamweaverCC and when I run the index.php Error Message ' Unable to Connect'.
    For the last 2 days I have been working on this and I am completely stuck.
    This morning I thought of another way to test the 'unable to connect' error.
    I decided to copy this same file into Netbeans IDE and I NOW get the same Error Message ' Unable to Connect'
    when running index.php from Netbeans.
    Somehow, my settings are not correctly configured anymore.
    Here are my screenshots from Dreamweaver > manage sites.
    I believe that this is a rather simple fix that I am somehow not seeing.
    Maybe some can spot some mistake.

    '''Firefox does not support ActiveX technology''' for multiple reasons.
    * ActiveX is only available on Windows operating systems, and as a result webpages that require it will not work on Linux or Mac.
    * ActiveX integration with the Windows operating system has made it a target for [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malware malicious software].

  • Unable to connect laptop with Windows 2000

    I have Lynksys router WRT54G. I have 3 laptops in house connecting to internet with no problem. A new person has moved in with a laptop that has windows 2000. The new person is not able to get an internet connection. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    The Win2K was wirelessly accessing the internet previously to moving here. This laptop has MA 251 net gear wireless modem card that sticks out of the side. Owner got this laptop several years ago when she was in the Army.
    The Win2K cannot see the other 3 laptops.
    Sorry but I don't know the answer to your 3rd question.
    Linksys service rep suggested maybe needing ethernet cable to get the Win2K connected.

  • Outlook clients unable to connect to Exchange / Windows user profile

    Exchange 2010
    Outlook 2010/2013
    I've seen a dozen or so computers in the last few weeks with this problem. The user suddenly cannot connect to the Exchange server in Outlook. (Sorry, I don't have specific error messages for this part.)
    If I try a repair on the Email account or try to create a new Mail profile, I get this error:
    "The action cannot be completed. The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action."
    I have verified all Exchange and mail security settings. Outlook configuration is not the problem.
    I tried deleting %appdata%\microsoft\outlook and %localappdata%\microsoft\outlook.
    I tried a repair on Microsoft Office.
    I tried creating a new Mail profile for a different email account.
    The only thing that has fixed this problem is a completely new Windows user profile, which tells me there is something else broken in the user profile. Does anyone have any idea what it might be?

    Hi,
    Please try to access Exchange via OWA.
    This issue may occur when the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders registry key does not contain all of the required data. Specifically, these problems occur if the AppData string value is missing from this
    registry key.
    To resolve this issue, import the User Shell Folders registry key from a working Windows User Profile.
    Steps to perform on a working computer
    Start Registry Editor. Click Start , type regedit in the Search programs and files box, and then press Enter.
    Locate and then select the following registry subkey: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
    On the File menu, click Export.
    Specify the name of the .reg file and then click Save.
    Copy the .reg file to the computer exibiting this problem.
    Close Registry Editor.
    Steps to perform on the computer displaying the above error(s)
    Start Registry Editor.
    On the File menu click Import.
    Locate and select the .reg file exported from the working computer.
    Click Open.
    Close Registry Editor.
    Best Regards.

  • I get a "Connection Failed" message when I try to connect to a Windows 7 computer that I was able to connect to before.

    I was able to connect to this Windows 7 computer before, I don't think anything happened, and then suddenly I couldn't.  I turned the firewall off and enabled everything that I could for sharing on the PC.  I can connect to the other PC on the network fine.  I have tried using the connect to server and all of the different ways to enter the address in.  When I ping the PC all of the responses are completely normal.  I'm on OS X 10.8.3 and the PC I'm connecting to is Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1.  If you need any more details I'll try to provide them, that's all I can think of right now.

    I called Apple today... It turned out to be my modem/router.

  • Unable to connect to essbase server through console

    Getting the rror below
    Error: 1042006: Network error [10061]: Unable to connect to [localhost:1423].
    The client timed out waiting to connect to Analytic Services Agent using TCP/IP.
    Check your network connections.
    Also make sure that server and port values are correct
    I am able to connect and work through esscmd, though.
    Thanks
    Biswajit

    Hi,
    This is one of known issues. Firstly, ensure that agent and required services are up and running properly. As you said, you were able to connect through MAXL/ESSCMD , it means essbase server( analytical services must be up and running).
    Next, check whether your admininstration services server is running.
    If all s well, try NETDELAY and NETRETRYCOUNT .One can find informatino regarding this in tech reference

  • [Forum FAQ] "Unable to connect to the server by using Windows PowerShell Remoting" error while installing RDS roles on Server 2012 R2

    When you try to install RDS role on server 2012 R2 using standard deployment, this issue may occur (Figure 1).
    “Unable to connect to the server by using Windows PowerShell remoting”.
    Figure 1: Unable to connect to the server by using Windows PowerShell remoting
    First of all, we need to verify the configurations as it suggested:
    1. The server must be available by using Windows PowerShell remotely.
    2. The server must be joined to a domain.
    3. The server must be running at least Windows Server 2012 R2.
    4. The currently logged on user must be a member of the local Administrators group on the server.
    5. Remote Desktop Services connections must be enabled by using Group Policy.
    In addition, we need to check if the “Windows Remote Management “service is running and related firewall exceptions have been created for WinRM listener.
    To enabling PowerShell remoting, we can run this PowerShell command as administrator (Figure 2).
    Enable-PSRemoting -Force
    Figure 2: Enable PowerShell Remoting
    However, if issue persists, we need to check whether it has enough memory to work.
    By default, remote shell allots only 150 MB of memory. If we have IIS or SharePoint App pool, 150 MB of memory is not sufficient to perform the remoting task. Therefore, we need to increase
    the memory via the PowerShell command below:
    Set-Item WSMan:\localhost\Shell\MaxMemoryPerShellMB 1000
    Then, you need to restart the server and the issue should be resolved.
    You can get more information regarding Remote Troubleshooting by below link:
    about_Remote_Troubleshooting
    If you need further assistance, welcome to post your questions in the
    RDS forum.

    i found another possible reason, this solution worked for me:
    http://oyvindnilsen.com/solution-for-powershell-remoting-error-it-cannot-determine-the-content-type-of-the-http-response-from-the-destination-computer/
    I tried to set up powershell remoting on a server and kept getting this error:
    Enter-PSSession : Connecting to remote server failed with the following error message : The WinRM client cann
    ot process the request. It cannot determine the content type of the HTTP response from the destination comput
    er. The content type is absent or invalid. For more information, see the about_Remote_Troubleshooting Help to
    pic.
    After a bit of troubleshooting I discovered that the problem was that the authentication packets was to big (over 16k), this will cause WinRM to reject the request. The reason for authentication packets getting too big can be because the user is member of very
    many security groups or in my case because of the SidHistory attribute.
    The solution was to increase the MaxFieldLength and MaxRequestBytes keys in the registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\HTTP\Parameters
    If the keys does not exists you can create them, be sure to use the DWORD type.
    I sat MaxFieldLength to DEC value 40000 and MaxRequestBytes to DEC value 32768 and rebooted the server. Problem solved.

  • Unable to add network printers from Windows Server 2012 R2 to client running Windows 7 Pro x64

    New Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard in the environment.  Added print services to it and added five HP printers to it and shared them.  Also deployed the printers via group policy.
    Clients are running Windows 7 Pro x64.  The group policy fails to install the printers (error 0x00000002).  We get the same error when trying to manually add the printer from the client side.
    From Event Viewer: Group Policy was unable to add per computer connection <<printer share>>. Error code 0x2. This can occur if the name of the printer connection is incorrect, or if the print spooler cannot contact the print server.
    Any ideas on troubleshooting this?
    Thanks.
    -John

    John,
    You might try playing with the HP universal driver, that might help you.  Try installing a new shared printer on the server using the universal print driver, then try and connect to it to see if it is any better.
    Check these GPO settings to ensure local machines can install the drivers.
    1. Configure the following two Group Policy settings:
    Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\System\Driver Installation\Allow non-administrators to install drivers for these devices setup classesEnabled
    2. Device class GUID of printers: {4d36e979-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}
    Computer Configuration/Policies/Administrative Templates/Printers/Point and Print RestrictionsEnabled
    Security Prompts: When Installing Drivers for a new connection = Do not show warning or elevation prompt
