Unable to connect to Oracle db v 9.2.0.1.0 after upgrading to Windows 2003
Hello, I am working on a java enterprise application that accesses Oracle DB version 9.2.0.1.0. It was working until I upgraded the operating system from Windows 2000 server to Windows 2003 server enterprise edition. the db connection is lost sometimes when accessing the db for long time so i have to close the session and open a new one. also the batch file (wfjvlsnr.bat) that resides under (Oracle_Home\ora92\wf\admin) can not connect to the db with the user name (owf_mgr) after upgrading to Windows 2003 although it was working on Windows 2000 server....
Could you sujjest any solution for this problem?
Thanks....
Are you talking about upgrading the client operating system? Or the server operating system? The first version of the Oracle database that was supported on Windows 2003 was 9.2.0.3, so if you upgraded the server operating system, you'll need to apply an appropriate database patchset.

Last November, my ASUS laptop forced me to update to Windows 8.1. Since then, I cannot connect to my organization's mobile EAS using the Mail/Calendar/People app. The Mail app says "We could not connect to .... because of problems with its
digital certificates. Contact your system administrator for info." I also tried to delete the account and recreate it. At the account info screen, it gave a related error message, stating "To connect to this account, you need a
valid certificate on the PC. Contact your system administrator for more info."
In trying to recreate the account, I note that the 8.1 Mail app appears to have combined all EAS connections -- I seem to recall different options for connecting previously, including one that was more specific to mobile EAS connections. My organization
only supports connection to mobile devices, and I continue to be able to connect via Windows phone, Android (iOS devices also supported).
I have done some digging and see that in my Windows Certificate Manager, there is a Personal Certificate with an error message. It's a "Token Signing Public Key" for "Client Authentication" using an RSA Public Key, but under the Certification
Path tab, the status states "The issuer of the certificate could not be found." I suspect this is the certificate that my organization's server is sending but is no longer being recognized by Windows 8.1.
My organization has been unwilling to support me on this. They point to the fact that all other devices work, my connection worked with Windows 8.0, and they don't have enough users that connect via Windows 8.1 laptops/tablets to troubleshoot on their
end. They also don't want to change setting that then cause other users to lose connectivity on the more commonly used mobile devices.
So, to trouble shoot myself, I have looked up posts on related issues and I have done all of the following to no avail:
- Make sure my Windows is up to date, including that latest Certificate/Credential update;
- Uninstalled the Mail/Calender/People App, restarted, and reinstalled it;
- Had MS Online support try to trouble shoot. They created a test account and tried to connect using that to no avail.
Notably, I have two Windows 8.1 machines -- my wife and I got matching ASUS laptops that both upgraded to 8.1 from 8.0 -- and I am unable to connect to my organization's mobile EAS using either machine.
To me, this is clearly a Windows 8.1 issue. The Mail/Calendar/People app should interface with mobile EAS exactly the same way that other mobile OSes do. Apparently this was the case with Windows 8.0, but no longer.
The last thing I'll add is that my organization requires password and remote wiping when connecting to the mobile EAS. But, this wasn't an issue when I had Windows 8.0 -- it connected fine and mandated password and remote wipe features.
NOTE: I originally posted this question on the Windows 8.1 Tehchnet forum and was told by an MS Engineer Soumya Sunda Debroy to repost in this forum.
PLEASE ADVISE. YOUR HELP IS APPRECIATED.
- DanPer the post above, I was pointed to Microsoft's remote connectivity analyzer and it appears to me that the GoDaddy Certificate -- which was compatible with Windows 8, is not compatible with Windows 8.1. (See results below.
I've also seen posts in other threads to "Ignore SSL errors" -- my Mail app doesn't present me that option, even though I uninstalled and reinstalled it. So, can anyone help?

Unable to connect to oracle driver
I am unable to connect to oracle driver. My code is as follows --
try {
Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver").newInstance();
} catch (ClassNotFoundException e) {
System.out.println("Can't find class oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver");
System.exit(1);
} catch (Exception e){
e.printStackTrace();
When I run the code, I am getting the 'ClassNotFoundException'. I have JVM 1.4 and have included classes12.zip and ojdbc.jar in the class path.
What am I missing?or better yet, upgrade to a less ancient driver jar.
The driver classname you supplied is correct for Oracle 9i and later, but the driver jar you use is for Oracle 8. It's also for Java 1.2 (hence the "classes12" name), and seriously lacking in features and performance compared to more modern versions.
Of course if you're stuck with a 10 year old database version you have little recourse but to use it, but no reputable company would use something that old any longer, especially since it's been out of support for ages. -

Unable to connect to Oracle Applications database (afscpgcs) after clone
Hi,
I have just moved (clone using rapidclone) two of our 11.5.10.2 install from a solaris SPARC 8 to 10 . After the clone, while discoverer 10g works perfectly well in one environment, it is giving the error below in the another environment.
- Failed to connect to database - Unable to connect to Oracle Applications database (afscpgcs)
Notes:
1. For the 2 environments, nothing as changed apart from the hostnames.
2. The password has not changed on both - from source to targets.
3. This happens when launching discoverer 10g from Apps.... discoverer works well on it own if not launched from apps.
I raised a SR with oracle and the 2 things they said have not worked. they said
1. change signon password case parameter - but I cannot find that in the list of system parameters on our system.
2. The other note says apply patch 6430269 and I can confirm this patch has been on the system for sometime.
Please advise on this if you have come accross this before and you can help here.
ThanksThanks for your concern. I have used the notes you listed but no luck. One thing I have to point out here is that I have always cloned from solaris 8 to 8 for years without this problem. Now I am cloning from solaris 8 to 10 and the problems is on just one environment. The other is working well. The problem seems to be related to the apps password but the password has not changed at all. Also, I have tried to change the password to something else and ran autoconfig but no luck. Please help

Unable to connect to Oracle Discover Application: ORB Initialization failure
We are running Discoverer 4.1.37 in a DMZ. Some of our internal users receive a "Unable to connect to Oracle Discoverer Application: ORB Initialization failure ..." error when trying to use Discoverer Plus. Our external users are able to connect using Discoverer Plus. We have SSL and Gatekeeper was configured with the machine's IP address (Exterior address), port 443 (exterior port), and exterior proxy address. Networking changes were made to enable users to use one web address instead of two (one for external and one for internal). Also, if I trying to use the machine's IP address in the web address, Discoverer just says "Loading" in the Discoverer Plus status box. If I use the one web address (originally, the external web address), I can log into Discoverer.
How are you trying to connect the database using JPA?
Has your datasource got bind successfully. You should check all these things first. If your datasource has not got binded then debug for that. -
Unable to connect to Oracle Applications database invalid username/password
Hi,
Ou Requirement is we want to connect to Oracle Applications using discoverer plus and discoverer viewer.
Application Server used : 10.1.2.0.2
Oracle Applications : R12 RUP4
We have installed application server 10g with OID and when we try to connect to oracle applications we are getting
A connection error has occurred.
- Failed to connect to database - Unable to connect to Oracle Applications database: invalid username/password.
Regards
KetanHi,
I think better to check with your sysadmin or DBA on this, I had the same isuse before but Apps 11i with Discoverer, I talked to ERP sysadmin and worked fine.
Since applications userid cannot talk with Discoverer schema (eul10_us) and it should directly talk with APPS user and then APPS user can talk with Discoverer user.
To the best of my knowledge I provided.

Loss of internet connectivity after upgrading to windows 8.1
Hi, After upgrading to windows 8.1 from windows 8 i am experiencing major problems , loss of internet connectivity for no reason both I.E. and G/CHROME are now taking an age to open there are no virus issues as far as i can see.
I have uninstalled and re-installed windows 8.1 about four times over the past 9 months or so and the same thing happens after all the updates are in it runs like a dream for say 6weeks or so then i get the same faults as described above then i uninstall/ re-install ok for 6 weeks .
I would apprieate any help or advice thanksHi @BMATH
Thank you your query.
I understand that after updating to Windows 8.1 about every 6 weeks you loose wireless connectivity for no reason and the web pages are very slow to open. If you uninstall and reinstall Windows 8.1 it works fine again for about the same amount of time. You have done this about 4 times with the same result each time.
Do you know if there is any changes at that time , perhaps an update?
You stated you do not believe you have any viruses. Just to be sure here are two links that will help confirm that.

After updating to Windows 8.1 have you checked for Windows updates?

USB device keeps disconnecting/connecting after upgrading to Windows 8.1
I have a device(Pedal for Sim Racing) connected via USB, everything is working fine in Windows 7 and 8 but after upgrading my machine to Windows 8.1 the device keeps disconnecting and connecting for like every 2 seconds. But after I open the Property Sheet
in Game Controllers panel the disconnection issue was gone, if I reconnect the device the issue persist. Other people who have similar device also encounters the same issue after upgrading to windows 8.1. The issue persist with or without the device driver
installed.
Any idea, what might cause this?
Best regards
markI'v got this exact same problem with my Win 7 desktop. I've also got pedals and wheel but don't see it as different than all the other USB devices. I'm using a bunch of USB, but no hubs, including 3 external storage hard drives. But the momentary
disconnect appears in all devices as best as i can see..even my long time trouble free head phones..keyboard..and all. Sometimes the sound goes away and if I unplug and replug them the sound comes back, and other times I have to exit and re enter the
game. I also get video crashes ..maybe not related.IDK..and have to restart all, because I've got three black screens in Eyefinity. For years my system was trouble free and its just slowly started getting worse. I've thought it had to do with system "sleep"
etc but long ago went to never sleep max performance etc..Makes no difference. Keep thinking its my hardware or my house wiring etc..But can't seem to solve it. I replaced my Mobo/chip/ram maybe 6 months ago and that appears to have not helped. It seems
to be getting worse. I hate to start replacing parts piece by piece..cost a lot of money and sometimes doesn't help.
When I'm playing a game I can often hear "faint" sound of USB connect disconnect happening with regularity..that little bing/boink sound etc..So it must just be constantly happening...Seems weird. Didn't have anything like this happening years
ago with pretty much the same hardware and same Win7 with the continuing updates etc.
What can be causing this common problem? -
Unable to activate software after upgrading to Windows 8
This post contains one question.
I am unable to activate my Creative Cloud products after upgrading to Windows 8. I have used the Chat service on three separate occasions, and after the employee asks me for my e-mail and order number, determines that they are unable to provide me the instructions necessary to license or activate the software. So I must be forwarded to a special team to help me resolve this problem. During the transfer, I get cut off -- each time.
On Windows 7, I deactivated my Creative Cloud membership through Photoshop.
I upgraded to Windows 8, installing all security updates and restarting the system several times.
Now that all updates are installed, I want to re-activate my Adobe products -- but am unable to find the commands to do so.
I have logged in to Adobe Application manager, using the e-mail address and password that Adobe has in the system for my account.
How do I activate my Adobe products?Does the solution provided by customer 'kipedias' in this post http://forums.adobe.com/message/4903206#4923341 resolve the issue?

Problems connecting to the internet after Upgrade from windows 8.1 pro
Cant connect to the internet after upgrading to windows 8.1 pro, what can i do to rectify this problem?
ThanksHi,
You can also try to install the older version in compatible mode:
Windows 8.1 Wifi showing "limited" or "No Internet Access"
Solution: revert your network adapter driver back to an older version
http://blogs.technet.com/b/dennis_schnell/archive/2013/08/31/windows-8-1-wifi-showing-quot-limitied-quot-or-quot-no-internet-access-quot.aspx
In addition, disable power management on your network driver:
Open Network and Sharing Center.
Click the Change adapter settings link in the upper left of the navigation pane.
Right click the network connection you want to enable/disable power management support on and click Properties .
Click Configure .
On the Power Management tab, clear the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power check box.
If the issue still persists, please upload the event log for our research:

Unable to connect to Oracle using OCI Drivers on Linux
Hi Everyone!
I am facing a peculiar issue while using Instant Client on Linux ( 64Bit ) running on Red Hat 4.1.
I have downloaded the instant client version 10.2.0.3(.zip) .so files from the below URL
http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/oci/instantclient/htdocs/linuxx86_64soft.html
UPloaded all the files to a directory under /opt and changed the .bash_profile file, the latest content looks like
ORACLE_HOME=/opt/instantclient_10_2
export ORACLE_HOME
PATH=$PATH:$ORACLE_HOME
export PATH
TNS_ADMIN=/opt/instantclient_10_2
export TNS_ADMIN
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/instantclient_10_2
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH
PATH=$PATH:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
export PATH
CLASSPATH=/opt/instantclient_10_2:/opt/instantclient_10_2/ojdbc.jar
export CLASSPATH
Java.library.path=/opt/instantclient_10_2
export Java.library.path
As i have downloaded the Sqlplus utility as well, i am able to connect to the Oracle FARM via sqlplus.
On the other hand, i am unable to connect to the same database via the application. It constantly gives me the following exception,

I have used the classes12.jar and ojdbc.jar which came with the download and nothing seems to work. A bit surprising when sqlplus works and not the application. I suspect there could be an issue with the driver class. I have been struggling to figure this out for days now...
Can anyone please share their thoughts if something similar was observed earlier please.
Any quick help will highly be appreciated.ORACLE_HOME=/opt/instantclient_10_2
export ORACLE_HOMEYou don't set ORACLE_HOME with Instant Client.
PATH=$PATH:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
export PATHThis is unnecessary.
CLASSPATH=/opt/instantclient_10_2:/opt/instantclient_10_2/ojdbc.jar
export CLASSPATHThis is wrong.
It should be:
CLASSPATH=/opt/instantclient_10_2/ojdbc14.jar:<whatever else you need there>
Java.library.path=/opt/instantclient_10_2
export Java.library.pathThis is useless; java.library.path is not an environment variable.
java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no ocijdbc10 in java.library.pathThe case is pretty clear. You want to use the OCI driver (your URL starts with "jdbc:oracle:oci:"), so the Java Virtual Machine is looking for libocijdbc10.so in the Java library path but cannot find it.
What is also clear is that the program does not use the CLASSPATH environment variable you set, because then it would never have found the Oracle Driver.
So it seems that your program is ignoring the environment you set (which would explain why it also ignores LD_LIBRARY_PATH which you set correctly).
You must have the environment variables set and exported in the shell that starts the "java" executable.
Also, check that there is no other ojdbc14.jar on this machine (use "find").
To help you debug your problem, let me explain how Sun Java sets Java library path on Linux:
- If you start java with "java -Djava.library.path=/some/dir:/other/dir ...", the Java library path is set to exactly that value.
- If you do not specify -Djava.library.path, the Java library path is taken from the environment variable LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
- Directories listed in /etc/ld.so.conf have no influence on the Java library path (which gave me quite a headache in the beginning).
Do you really need the OCI Driver? If you can do with the Thin Driver (i.e., use an URL that starts with "jdbc:oracle:thin:") you don't need any shared libraries at all.

Unable to connect to Oracle database on RHEL4
Hi,
I have completed installation of Oracle 10g release 2. on RHEL 4.
On logging on to the RHEL 4 machine, I am able to start Oracle database and use sqlplus.
However, I am unable to connect to it from my desktop, which is windows xp. The tnsnames.ora file in the windows desktop has been updated. However its not able to connect to this machine. The RHEL4 machine is configured with DHCP. Could this be the problem? I would not be able to configure it with static IP, is there a way to configure it with DHCP? tnsping does not identify the database instance either. I get the following error.
TNS-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error
Regards,
Rishikeshrishikesh,
On the RHEL4 machine
1. check the listener:
-check if the service name of your database is registered
-check on which NIC/ip address the listener is listening
2. check if you can login using TCP
-do a tnsping of the connection descriptor you are using
If both tests succeed, go to the client (windows XP machine)
1. check if the RHEL4 machine responds to the ping command
if that works:
2. check if the hostname used in ping is the same as the hostname in the connectstring
3. check if the service name in the connectstring is the same as in the listener
4. check if the port number in the connectstrings is the same as in the listener
