Unable to extend tablespace.

When i try to extend PSAPUNDO tablespace, faced the following error.

Along with the above suggestions, Make sure that You have applied the required IBM AIX Fixes respective to OS release level ( as per SAP Note  977410) and required Oracle Intreme Patches/Patchset (as per SAP Note 980152).

    On the database we work we got Unable to extend tablespace error. Suddenly in one night data was flooded into the tablespace.We have not run any precedure or On line reorganisation on that TS.
    Is there any way that we can know what acivity had on that Tablespace during that night.We dont have audit option set in the database.

    It really depends on what, exactly, you're looking for and what, exactly, happened.
    If you have the archived log files from the night in question, that might tell you what statement generated a lot of redo. You'd miss certain unlogged operations, though, and that doesn't give you any information about what process caused the flood. If you've taken the basic precaution of getting base-line table sizes, querying DBA_SEGMENTS or DBA_EXTENTS to get the current size ought to show which tables have grown and is a lot less work than configuring Log Miner.
    Log Miner would also tend to miss situations where a table allocated a new, rather large, extent.

  • Request of one report fails with error: unable to extend tablespace

    Hi All,
    When I submit one request of report, the request end up with error:
    unable to extend temp segment by 128 in tablespace XXXX
    The request costs too much tablespace in short time, but the temp is about 20 G large.
    The sever have been add storage recently, but I don't know whether it is related to the performance issue, because the request had not such issue.
    How do I deal with it ?

  • Unable to extend tablespace while EhP4 upgrade

    Hi Gurus,
    We are doing EhP4 upgrade from EhP ready SR1. Our database version is DB6 9.7.2. We are using EhPI version 37.
    In the chack phase the installer suggests to increase some tablspace size. But the tablespaces are in "Auto Storage Mode". We are unable to extend or add a container to it.
    Any suggestions or workarounds for this issue?

    Thanks for all the replies.
    SAP replied with the following workaround and it worked for us.
    i)Save all files <upgdir>/bin/DBF.SPC and their content (for example  by copying each of these files to DBF.SPC.SAV)                              
    ii) Empty all files <upgdir>/bin/DBF*.SPC; that is do not delete/remove these files but delete all content, so that these files are completely  empty!                                                                       
    iii) Make sure that you are having sufficient space in the file systems.
    iv) Restart the upgrade/SPACECHK. with empty files there are no space  requirements and thus the SPACECHK should finish successfully.

    so you add a new datafile on USERS tablespace, give quota to the user on USERS tablespace correctly and get the same error.

    I have a Oracle Database 11g Release 11.1.0.6.0 - 64bit Production With the Real Application Clusters option.
    I'm receiving the unable to extend table T_DATA in tablespace USER
    I'm using ASM.
    This is the situation of datafiles of USER tablespace (dimension is in GB):

    OK, but what does FREE_MB mean?
    Is it the unallocated space?
    Is it possible that this disk:
    path | disk_number | group_name | group_number | header_status| free_mb | os_mb | total_mb

    is causing the error?
    Does it make sense to try to remove it from the diskgroup? I should have more than enough space on other disks of the DATA diskgroup.

    I am not a DBA and do not have much experience in Oracle. When I was trying to restore the backup of my application, I received the following error. I could not able to proceed further in my tasks.
    ORA-01654: unable to extend index <name of the index> by 8 in tablespace <name of the Index tablespace>The following query was used to create the table space. Oracle version is 10g.
    CREATE TABLESPACE TS_JIRA
    DATAFILE 'D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\oradata\jiraadmi\TS_JIRA.dbf' SIZE 100M REUSE

    DEFAULT STORAGE ( INITIAL 64K NEXT 64K MINEXTENTS 1 MAXEXTENTS UNLIMITED PCTINCREASE 0);I do not know how to extend the size of the tablespace. Can anyone help to sort out this issue?

    I have tried increasing the TEMP tbsp size it got resolved temporarily but occurred again after few days.
    When the problem occured, following query shows all insert queries in TEMP tablespace and one of them consumes about 5GB and others are about 24MB.

    The insert query is :
    INSERT INTO SEOSDATA (ENTRYID,DOMAINNAME,USERNAME,EVENTTYPE,LOGNAME,TIMSTAMP,SOURCE,COMPUTERNAME,EVENTID,EVENTCATEGORY,SEARCHSTRINGS,MSGTEXT) VALUES (ENTRYID_SEQ.NEXTVAL,:1,:2,:3,:4,:5,:6,:7,:8,:9,:10,:11)
    It is not expected that an insert query consumes such a huge memory.
    Can someone help me in figuring out what the problem is.
    What might have gone wrong? Seems like sorting is used, why an insert query uses sorting?

    Hi,
    Insert statement should not use TEMP tablespace. Please check with following query which user and session id is using TEMP tablespace.
    SELECT b.tablespace, b.segfile#, b.segblk#, b.blocks, a.sid, a.serial#,
    a.username, a.osuser, a.status
    FROM v$session a,v$sort_usage b
    WHERE a.saddr = b.session_addr
    ORDER BY b.tablespace, b.segfile#, b.segblk#, b.blocks;

  • ORA-1688: UNABLE TO EXTEND TABLE IN SYSAUX TABLESPACE

    Hi,
    We are running oracle10g R-2 (10.2.0.2.0) on solaris 10.
    In our alert log file we get following message interminantely:-
    ORA-1688: unable to extend table SYS.WRH$_ACTIVE_SESSION_HISTORY partition
    WRH$_
    ACTIVE_455891297_399 by 128 in tablespace SYSAUX
    MMON Flush encountered SYSAUX out of space error(1688).
    MMON (emergency) purge of WR snapshots (243) and older
    The above error reproduce after every 1 hour.

    It seems your tablespace SYSAUX to be little: you need to make it bigger or add another datafile. Using "Oracle Enterprise Manager" is quite easy to do, in section "Storage Manager".

  • ORA-1653: unable to extend table (but tablespace is not full!)

    Hi folks,
    I was navigating through the Alert Log file and I'm strangely noticing the error:
    ORA-1653: unable to extend table PROMO.DETAILS by 40973 in tablespace PROMO
    I'm defining it as strange because:
    (1) The tablespace is only 65% full (there are 750MB of freespace), and
    (2) There is ample space on the harddisk
    I then used TOAD to try to debug the problem and there is a tool which allows me to view a map of the tablespace. I could see that the tablespace "PROMO" had indeed freespace, but the table "DETAILS" looked like it had no space where to extend (there was a table both before, and after it in the map). Is there a way to solve this problem , or isn't a problem at all?

    this problem occurs because
    your table don't find one big free space for next extent in tablespace.
    solutions:-
    1st solution
    * alter tablespace <tablespace_name> add datafile ' path';
    OR
    2nd solution
    - coalesce your tablespace 'alter tablespace <tablespace name> coalesce'.
    OR
    3rd solution
    check u r pctincrease parameter if it is 50 then
    ALTER TABLE <tablename> STORAGE (NEXT 1M PCTINCREASE 0);

    I got these errors for datafile even though the autoextend is on & ample space available on hard disk,
    ORA-1653: unable to extend table DEV_ADS.ADS_ATTRIBUTES by 128 in tablespace DEV_ADS
    ORA-1653: unable to extend table DEV_ADS.ADS_ATTRIBUTES by 1024 in tablespace DEV_ADS
    The Maxbytes for this datafile is 1gb & current size is  100m but it gave error after reacing 100m, i added another datafile to this but i couldnt understand why the autoextend fails

    The initial size of tablespace was 100m with autoextend max 1000m enabled.
    Table ADS_ATTRIBUTES is created with following clauses
    select INITIAL_EXTENT,NEXT_EXTENT from dba_segments where SEGMENT_NAME='ADS_ATTRIBUTES';
    INITIAL_EXTENT NEXT_EXTENT
             65536     1048576
    select EXTENTS,BLOCKS from dba_segments where SEGMENT_NAME='ADS_ATTRIBUTES';(This after adding one datafile)
       EXTENTS     BLOCKS
            38       2944
    The initail extent is 64mb and values of next extent is 1024m.
    So is that it gave me error for creating second extent of 1024m since maxsize datafile is 1g.Correct me if i am wrong
