Unable to extract data from an AS/400 system.

Hello experts.
We are trying to extract data from an AS/400 system but not having any success until now.
I´ll write down you the stepts that we have followed until now:
1.- Create a DB Connect between both systems
2.- Create a Source System from AS400 in the workbench under DB Connect Directory
3.- Generate datasources from tebles specified in the schema of the connection
break point -
At this point, we had a problem with some tables with at least one fieldname containing character "Ñ".
After asking some possible solutions to SAP, the told us this is not supported, as the system can´t have any object with character "Ñ", so the transfer structure was unable to activate with this fields in the datasource.

4.- After those issues, we´ve decided to implement, in another schema, views from those tables which had the fieldnames with that character "Ñ", changing them to an "N".
5.- We´ve created another source system with that schema, and user than can see that schema.
6.- To be able to see those views, in transaction RSDBC, we had to deactivate the two checkboxes in the first window ( Choose tables and Choose views) .
7.- Right afeter, we could generate correctly the datasources from this logical tables.
8.- We have designed the hole dataflow for this datasources and everithing went rigth.
9.- But wen we tried to execute the infopackage to extract data from those logic tables, we cannot get any registers. Acctualy the charge remains yellow after the job have finished.
Please, I would appreciate any help you could give us on this problem.

I´d like ti add something to this thread, and maybe clarify a littel bit the question.
The only way that the BW system recognizes those logical tables, through transaction RSDBC is checking out the two boxes on this transaction, "Select Tables" and "Select Views".
I don´t know haw these logical tables have been created, bus does this mean that the are not neither tables or views as BW understand them.
Please, if someone knows anythin about this, answer to this thread.

Hi, you can do as you describe but I would prefer to build a Crystal Report-report against the R/3 systems and then use LiveOffice to extract the data to Excel and then build the Xcelsius on top of the Excel file. The advantage is that you can use Business Objects Enterprise and get built-in security to the dashboards. You can also schedule the Crystal Report and refresh against instances to speed up performance.

Unable to extract data from 0HR_PA_PD_2 datasource

Hi,
I am extracting the data from 0HR_PA_PD_2 (Appraisals) datasource to the cube 0PAPD_C02 (Appraisals).Though the data available in R/3 (83 records,checked in RSA3) it is giving the message "No data available in the source system".I checked the RFC connection,IDOCs,SM58 for any message.But everything is fine.In the status tab ,it is showing "Info IDoc received with status 8".But the data is available in R/3.
Please help me if any one faced this type of issue or is there any other steps has to be followed.

Unable to extract data from R/3 into BW 3.5

I have just started learning BW. I am currently trying to upload data from R/3 into BW. I have tried uploading data into InfoCube , ODS, InfoObjects from R/3 and in all cases I am getting error messages. Please shed some light as the what am doing wrong......below are the steps that I have done
For loading transaction data from R/3 in ODS
1. Created view from VBAP and VBAK tables in R/3
2. Created Transaction type DataSource in R/3 using RSO2 transaction
3. Replicated above DataSource in BW under Source Systems. using 'Replicate DataSource'
4. Created ODS object along the same lines as the above created view in R/3
5.Created InfoSource and assigned the replicated DataSource
6. Activated the Transfer Rules, Transfer Structure, Communivcation Structure
7. Created Update Rules for ODS and activated them
8. Created InfoPackage and started the Data Request
The error message that I see in Monitor is as below
Requests (messages): Everything OK
         Data request arranged
         Confirmed with: OK
Extraction (messages): Missing messages
         Missing message: Request received
         Missing message: Number of sent records
         Missing message: Selection completed
Transfer (IDocs and TRFC): Errors occurred
         Request IDoc : IDoc with errors added
Processing (data packet): No data
I am getting the same error message when I try InfoCube instead of ODS.
Please let me know what is wrong

On Status Page it says
Request still running
Diagnosis
No errors could be found. The current process has probably not finished yet.
System response
The ALE inbox of the SAP BW is identical to the ALE outbox of the source system
and/or
the maximum wait time for this request has not yet run out
and/or
the batch job in the source system has not yet ended.
Current status
No Idocs arrived from the source system.
On Details Tab page, it says

Extract data from AMPLA to SAP BW

Hi All,
My requirement is to extract data from a Non SAP system called AMPLA (SQL Server 2012) to SAP BI system (7.0). I need to consider possible ways for SAP BI to extract data from Non SAP Systems like DB Connect, UD Connect, Web services etc. Does anyone have experience extracting AMPLA data to SAP BI system successfully and what method is ideal to be used? Also in what form is data usually available in AMPLA source system(tables/views etc)?

How to extract data from multiple tables (always got errors)

Dear Experts,
I have a simple mapping to extract data from multiple tables as a source (A, B, C) to a target table (X). Below is the picture:
(Sources)....(Target)

Target table (X) should be (just has 1 group INGRP1):

Scenarios:
1. Directly map from A, B, C to X. Unable to map with error message: "API8003: Connection target attribute group is already connected to an incompatible data source. Use a Joiner or Set operator to join the upstream data first before connecting it into this operator."
2. Map each source to Expression Operator and then map from each Expression to target table. I am able to map all attributes successfully but got error when validating it with message: "VLD-1104: Attributes flowing into TEST.EXPR_SRC.INGRP1 have different data sources."
How can I achieve the correct mapping for this purpose?
Use Joiner? I have no key to join the sources
Use Set? The sources have different number of columns

I think it will results data like this:

and not the expected:

100 10 Ten 12
100 20 Twenty 21
etc
But it inspired me to solve this by adding key expression in each source table (B & C) to be joined to table A with this formula:
100+TRUNC(INGRP1.COLB1,-2)

BO DI for extracting data from legacy system to SAP BW 7.0

Hi,
Has anyone worked on scenario where BO Data Integrator is being used as ETL tool for extracting data from legacy systems to SAP BW 7.0 ?
Please share your experience on such a landscpae or related documents any of you had come across.

Error while extracting data from ODS using Infospokes - URGENT

Hi all,
I am extracting data from an ODS using infospokes and nothing fancy, no selection criteria but I am getting an error message saying
Syntax error in row3(-> long text) Msg id = "RG" and msgno is 102
Any ideas on how I can see what is the exact error and how to debug this?

Reason and Prerequisites
The data source is an ODS object and the extraction mode is 'delta'. The cause of the error message is that the ODS extractor is unable to select the request ID (InfoObject 0REQUID) from the change log of the ODS object. However, the request ID is mistakenly provided in the field list of the ODS object on the InfoSpoke maintenance screen. --
Solution
Delete the 0REQUID InfoObject from the field list of the InfoSpoke and activate the InfoSpoke. As of the patch mentioned below, the request ID in the template tab is no longer provided.

Import Support Package 16 for 3.0B (BW3.0B Patch 17 or SAPKW30B16) into your BW system. The Support Package will be available once note 571699 with the short text "SAPBWNews BW 3.0B Support Package 16", which describes this Support Package in more detail, has been released for customers.

How often in the real time projects extract data from flat files n process

I am going thru teh BODS data integrator, and trying to understand the demand of ETL services extract data from a flat file, is that really impt in teh real time jobs.

As per the inputs given by you guys i started loading data from flat file.
I try to load 28 files from i which i was able to load 24 files succesfully.For the other 4 i got this error messages

Error when extracting data from R/3 into BW

There is an infoobject Payscale Level(Datsource 0paysclaelv_attr) in BW module HR that is extracting data from R/3. While extracting data, the following error occurs "Assignment to feature PFREQ did not take place". I debugged the standard function module HR_BW_EXTRACT_IO_PAYSCALELV and I believe there is definitely an error in the data. But Im not able to find out that record. Has anyone come across this error before? Please let me know if theres any solution to this error. The help for this error provides the following details. But I havent understood it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You can assign a specific operation (assignment) to each decision option
within a feature. You can also define decision option ** whose

The error is due to the existing customizing of feature PFREQ for MOLGA = 05, there the value to be returned depends on the WERKS, but apparently it was forgotten to add a new line for the "Otherwise" case.
Like it was already done for the case of MOLGA = 03, for example. Please add then a line for MOLGA = 05 and "Otherwise" and the issue should be solved.

BPC 7.5 will extract data from flat file or directly from cube

i have a doubt plz give me a solution.
1) previously our BPC 7.0 team extracted data from BI 7.0 through flat file, but now they have upgraded to BPC 7.5 i want to know whether BPC 7.5 will extract directly from our BW infocube or not.
2) please let me know how data extracted from BPC 7.5.

Hi,
If your import file has duplicate record in it then the Status of your DM package for import ends with warning, where all the records in your file might have got accepted but only one last data rows amoung the duplicate rows might have got submitted to the system.
The duplicate records will be rejected and you can see the list of duplicate records as well in the DM package status report.
Like Nilanjan said you can use Append DM Pacakge to submit all duplicate records aswell into the system. But here the problem is it appends the data in flat file with data available in the system.
Say you have 100 for account1 in the system and you run Append DM Package having values duplicate values for account1 say 100 and 200. So after the Append Package execution you will have 100100200= 400 for account1.
So for Append DM package to work in the same way as import, run clear package before executing the Append package.

I don't have this problem when i extract just 2 000 records for exemple.

Are you using a local or a defined agent?
Are you using the memory engine as the staging area.
Anyway you can increase the memory being used by the JVM depending on the above.

Extracting Data from APO PP/DS to BW

I'm trying to extract data from APO PP/DS (SCM 5.1) to BW (BI 7.0). I'm new to SCM and am not sure how the extraction from SCM to BI happens other than that we need to read data from LiveCache.
