Unable to fully install itunes due to error message

I have been trying to install itunes and when I get about three quarters of the way in an error screen pops up telling me that I have an error writing to the file C:/Documents and Settings/All users/Application Data/.../GEARAspiWDM.inf and telling me I need to verify that I have access to this directory. How do I find that file and fix this problem so that I can fully install itunes?

an error screen pops up telling me that I have an error writing to the file C:/Documents and Settings/All users/Application Data/.../GEARAspiWDM.inf and telling me I need to verify that I have access to this directory.
Quite often those messages are caused by disk/file damage rather than a genuine permissions problem.
Try running a chkdsk over your C drive. There's instructions and a guided help in the following Microsoft document:
[How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315265]
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you now get your iTunes install to go through properly?

can't update new version of itunes due to error message saying invalid si

That suggests that the installer is getting damaged during the download.
I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:

If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?

  • I am unable to re-install itunes due to an Error 2

I have tried to uninstall and re-install itunes using the troubleshooting tips for windows 7 but I'm still having some problems. After I download it, a message pops up saying Apple Mobile Device failed to start and to verify if I have suffient privileges to start system services. Then when I press ignore, it gives an Error 2 (Apple Application support was not found).

Then when I press ignore, it gives an Error 2 (Apple Application support was not found).
Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • I cannot install itunes. The error message telss me I need a CD

I am unable to install itunes 10.5.  I am asked for the CD to provide a needed file.  I cannot uninstall the prior version of itunes.

    Hey sndlot,
Follow the steps in this link to resolve the issue:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
When you uninstall, the items you uninstall and the order in which you do so arearticularly important:
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended affects.
Let us know if following that article and uninstalling those components in that order helped the situation.

  • Trouble opening Itunes due to error messages?

When I click on the Itunes icon on my pc desk top, I am getting tw messages as follows.
"The program can't start because MSVCR80.dII is missing from my computer. Try re-installing the program to fix this problem."
And then when I click ok, I get another message saying,
"Itunes is not installed correctly. Please re-install Itunes."  Error 7 (Windows error 126)
Maybe there is just something wrong with my Windows program?  Does anyone know?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall go to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • IPhone unable to reconnect to iTunes due to error  0xE80000003 under Windows 7

uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes to the latest version according to the iTunes support.
The error continues to haunt the computer on all USB ports.
This actually happened after the TuneUp plugin got installed and was uninstalled via Control Panel.
Please help as I have to get music friom the iTunes to my iPhone very soon (like yesterday)
    Thanks for your help.

I've seen it but it doesn't correspond to any of the behaviour in my case. The issue was resolved when TuneUp was re-installed which I'm not comfortable with, but have to live with until I find a better solution.
If anyone comes up with a better workaround than mine, please keep me posted here.
    cheers all, peace out. :-)
