Unable to import sample Usage Tracking RPD objects

Hi guys,
OBIEE version 10.1.3.3.0. We are trying to import the objects that come in the sample Usage Tracking RPD (OracleBI/server/Sample/usagetracking/UsageTracking.rpd) into our own RPD. We have been able to create the S_NQ_ACCT table which is working fine and the BI Server populates with user activity in our Oracle DB. We also created and populated the NQ_LOGIN_GROUP, S_ETL_DAY and S_ETL_TIME_DAY tables from the scripts provided in OracleBI/server/Sample/usagetracking/SQL_Server_Time/. I added all the objects to the Physical Layer and updated row counts with no problems. I am now trying to import the objects into the Business Layer in the Admin Tool. When I try to copy/paste the Measures object from the sample RPD I get the following error:
[nQSError: 28006] Near Line 904, <"join nQ_CALENDAR Year Ago NQSACCT">: Not defined.
I am doing the following replacement:
"OBI Usage Tracking"."Catalog"."dbo"
for
"Usage Tracking".""."MIOBIEE_O"
Which covers the different DB setup in my RPD. What else am I missing?

I didn't copy paste the objects from one repository to the other, but I imported the UsageTracking.rpd into our main repository, by clicking on File, Import -> from Repository.
Before you do this, you must make this option available. Under Tools, Options and tab General, you must check the "Allow import from repository" option.
Then you should check the database settings in the connection pool, for instance the call interface, this can be OCI instead of ODBC.

Case1:Unable to import the views in OBIEE 11g by using "Oracle inOraDb 11g_Home1" drivers but able to import the Tables in RPD.
Case 2:Unable to import the Table in OBIEE 11g by using ."Data Direct 6.0 Oracle wire protocol" drivers but able to import the Views in RPD.

I have one 'View' called profit in sh schema

clicked Back and selected 'Views' Option and checked under sh schema. am able to see the 'Profit Table.

selected what are all the table i need to import from sh schema with Profit view and clicked the single arrow symbol to move sh schema from 'data source view' to 'repository view' and clicked 'Finish'
It has imported all the tables and view into the rpd from SH Schema.

Unable to Import Sample Application Package

Hi ,
I have installed APEX 3.0 in my box.
SQL> SELECT username FROM dba_users WHERE username LIKE '%FLOW%';

While I tried to import Sample Packed Application , I am getting error
"Installation of application specific tables and default data has failed. "
From the Install Summary I am getting following message.
install_tablesviews
ORA-04063: package body "FLOWS_030000.WWV_FLOW_SW_SCRIPT" has errors
ORA-06508: PL/SQL: could not find program unit being called
Quicker response would be highly appreciated.

I have gotten the same error.

I then tried to re-compile the package body script and received the following compilation errors:

I have limited programming experience but I noticed in the source code that the declared function CHUNK_LINES has a suspicious variable type (notice the 's'):
function chunk_lines(p_stmt in varchar2) return dbms_sql.varchar2s;
I don't know what the best course of action is at this point.
Anybody have any suggestions? Much appreciated.

Unable to import mdl containing ProcessFlows using object id's due to different UOID for object PLATFORM_CONFIGURATION

We are on OWB 11.2.0.3 and have 3 different OWB repositories, one for development, one for acceptance testing and of course production.
When we export process flows from development (dev) and try to import to acceptance (acc) we get the following error:
Importing into workspace DWHP_CCR
Informational: MDL1328: PROJECT T_DWH not imported since the object in MDL file is the same as the object in the workspace.

Error at line 14: MDL1261: Error importing PLATFORM_CONFIGURATION T_DWH.DEFAULT_CONFIGURATION.OWF.
Detailed Error Message:
MDL1407: Cannot import PLATFORM_CONFIGURATION with physical name <OWF> matching by object identifier because a PLATFORM_CONFIGURATION <OWF> with the same physical name <OWF> but different object identifier already exists.
We don't want to start using "MATCH BY NAME" as that will probably disrupt the association between the mappings in the process flows and the actual mappings themselves.
I tried to find the UOID of the PLATFORM_CONFIGURATION using OMBPlus, and if that succeeds to change the UOID to the same value in each environment. This is the result of trying to get it:

It can't even find the PLATFORM_CONFIGURATION. Beats me.
I also thought of trying to create a new configuration by copying it, make that the active configuration, delete the original configuration and then import the process flows. But that gives the same error, apparently the platform_configuration OWF still exists after deleting the 'parent' default_configuration.
Does anybody know of another way of changing the PLATFORM_CONFIGURATION so we can succesfully import the Process flows?

I created a SR with support. For now they are pointing to BugID 17422695, which looks to be the same situation we are in. No solution yet, but they are looking into solving it by merging platform_configurations always by name and never by uoid. I hope we have a solution soon.

Unable to import table or columns in OBIEE 11G RPD

Hi All,
We are unable to import table into the RPD using OCI 10G/11G to import the table then the import box open but we are unable to see the tables below the schema name. When we use ODBC 3.5 and created a DSN for the database then we are able to see all the tables and import them. But the problem here is that when we are using window server 7 64 bit to install client and then importing the table ODBC is not working fine as well.
Please note that we are using OBIEE 11G which is installed on unix box and we connect to RPD using client installed on windows server.

OBIEE 11g (11.1.1.6) usage tracking migration

Hi Team,
I am facing issue in setting up the usage tracking in 11g (11.1.1.6).
All the tables and views are available in DEV_BIPLATFORM schema. Migration of the the RPD and the Catalog (available under 'sample' folder) is failing.
Error: Wrong Password.
I have used the default password of Usage Tracking rpd (Admin123 as well as Administrator) during migration. Even though the migration fails.
Is there any bug associated with this as i have also tried to open the RPD with 10g (10.1.3.4) and also with 11g (11.1.1.6). In both case, they failed to open.
Error in 10g:
[nQSError: 36010] Server version 184 cannot read the newer version 266 of the repository.
Error in 11g:
[nQSError: 36015] Please run the upgrade utility obieerpdmigrateutil to upgrade the repository.

This is a bug.

Usage tracking on OBIEE 10.1.3.3.1

We want to implement the usage tracking on the OBIEE version 10.1.3.3.1. But the default rpd provided by the Oracle from the link:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe_bi/bi_ee_1013/usage_tracking/files/SH_UsageTracking.zip
belongs to the OBIEE version 10.1.3.4.0 and higher, so when I try to open the usage tracking rpd in the OBIEE 10.1.3.3.1 the rpd does not open.
Has anyone encountered similar sort of problem? Any pointers to this would be highly helpful

Ok, when you say you merged the Usage Tracking rpd, where did you get it from? Also, which tables did you create in the database for Usage Tracking? Please try to use the rpd here since the one that comes with the installation had issues: http://total-bi.com/2011/09/obiee-11g-usage-tracking-rpd/

Trouble shoot Usage Tracking

I configured Usage tracking but for some reason S_NQ_Acct table is not populating rows. I checked the error log and I see there has been some problem with the usage tracking. I used the 10.1.3.4 usage tracking rpd and did update the connection pools to point to the right database.
The rpd metadata columns and the tables created under the schema are consistent. I do not see any errors under Usage tracking canned reports or the columns. All i see is No results because S_NQ_ACCT table is always empty, even though I ran some reports.
Here is my usage tracking settings under nqsconfig.ini file

I tried to debug what that error is but i was not successfull in doing so. One thing that i wanted to mention here is, when creating the NQ_LOGIN_GROUP view, I edited th default script for creating the column LOGIN to USER_NAME as LOGIN is a key word in ORACLE database. I dont think that is causing the issue here, as I renamed the rpd Physical column of the table as well. That was the only change i made and rest of them are default settings.
Any suggestions here....

A lot of things smell fishy in your post. For a start your BI Server log says "Metadata Database Type: Oracle8.1" but then it says you are using "Client Driver Version 10.02.0001". Which database version are you running? If you are running 10g then make sure you set the correct database type in the Physical layer. If you are using Oracle then you should be using Oracle native drviers in your connection pool (OCI) however the PHYSICAL_TABLE_NAME definition has the "dbo" which seems to suggest you are using ODBC. Also the error you are gettign seems to suggest you are using ODBC. The insert the BI Server sends looks like this:
INSERT INTO S_NQ_ACCT (USER_NAME, REPOSITORY_NAME, SUBJECT_AREA_NAME, NODE_ID, START_TS, START_DT, START_HOUR_MIN, END_TS, END_DT, END_HOUR_MIN, QUERY_TEXT, SUCCESS_FLG, ROW_COUNT, TOTAL_TIME_SEC, COMPILE_TIME_SEC, NUM_DB_QUERY, CUM_DB_TIME_SEC, CUM_NUM_DB_ROW, CACHE_IND_FLG, QUERY_SRC_CD, SAW_SRC_PATH, SAW_DASHBOARD, SAW_DASHBOARD_PG, PRESENTATION_NAME, RUNAS_USER_NAME, NUM_CACHE_INSERTED, NUM_CACHE_HITS)
So try that manually to see if it works but it seems you need to to some RPD config changes first as it all looks too fishy to me.

OBI 11.1.1.6 Usage Tracking

Yep, that's the right way to do it. Note that the 11.1.1.6 release notes say the bug about having a 10g version of the usage tracking RPD fixed to be 11g doesn't seem right - I still get errors that the version is incompatible.

Unable to Import objects into ID

Hi All,
For your support I have completed the development work and I have moved to Quality from Development. But while trying to import the one scenario in to Quality System from Development in XI, I am getting the following Error:-
Internal error: Unable to transfer changes for object Service | Q14CLNT120 to change list "XI 3.0 Import" (9a590f30-7245-11dc-9266-00306ee97ef1) since object still in change list "XI 3.0 Import" (3ae5e660-701d-11dc-942e-00306ee97ef1)
I have somehow managed to import another scenario last week into Quality, although now I am unable to import. But while trying to activate the imported scenario into Quality System I am getting another Error as below:-
Unable to move object. Change lists were not part of the same import
I tried to activate the change list..but no woek.
Could anyone please advice?

Have you checked the GUID in SLD in both the systems?
SLD-->Software Components, to check the GUID.
You can do one thing, first of delete imported objects which are not getting activated from QA, also delete the SWCV from Integration Repository.
Note: Before deleting SWCV, make sure any other working objects are not there in the same SWCV.
Now, if SWCV & GUID in both systems are same then again:
1. Export the objects from Dev (.tpz file)
2. Imort the same .tpz file to QA system.
Now go to Repository of QA and
1. Tools --> Import Design Objects
2. Tools --> Transfer from system landscape Directory --> Update Application Components.
Select your components and press Finish button.
And finally try to Acitvate your objects.

Unable to Import metadata into RPD

Hi,
I have installed OBIEE 111.1.1.6 on the sever and OBIEe client tools on my local desktop.
now when i am trying to import metadata into my rpd by connecting to database it shows me the error "Unable to connect"
can you please let me know if i am missing any prerequisties on my local desktop or any settings that i need to actualy srt importing?

If the call interface is OCI, enter a full connect string or a net service name from the tnsnames.ora file you set up within the Oracle Business Intelligence environment, in ORACLE_HOME/network/admin.
If you are using a native interface for a different database, enter the name of the database for that system.
If the call interface is ODBC, the data source name field displays a list containing all the User and System DSNs defined for ODBC on the local computer. Select the correct one for the data source to which you want connect.

Unable to import slides and save project

Hello Captivators,
I have a problem. I call it a big problem. I am unable to
import any slides from one project to another.
I have a project with 15 slides, some with audio. And I have
a similar project with the same number of slides.
I wanted to import from project a to project b just two
slides with objects. The import seems to work. I get an asterisk in
the title bar, indicating the project has changed (added two slides
with audio). I then attempt to save this project (under the same
name). The screen locks, I get a permanent hourglass (using Windows
XP on HP xw8400 workstation), and the app goe to the "not
responding" state. and a CTRL-ALT-Delete takes several tries before
I can kill the app(s). It also seems that I get two instances of
the project when I try to kill the app in Task Manager.
Anyone seen this before???

to save the
project as a *different* file after importing (or maybe just
try
copy/paste?) in the two new slides?
