Unable to link media to MTS files in Premiere CS6 after updating to 10.8.3

I am now unable to link media(MTS files) in Premiere pro CS6 after updating to 10.8.3. Instead of the folder where the MTS files where there is now "AVCHD" with the quicktime symbol. When I control click, it just offers me with the quick look option. Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.

• How can i open .mts files in premiere cs4?

Hi all,
I am using premiere cs4.
when i import .mts file in cs4 it says file format is not supported.
could any one please tell me how can i open .mts file in premiere cs4.
Thanks
Murali.

What kind of audio did the camera record? For example, the Sony NX5U can be set to record linear PCM audio, which will not import into CS4. If the same camera is set to record AC3 audio, then the clips should import and play as expected. This thread may help:

I am unable to view flash videos from all websites except youtube after updating to Firefox 4. All help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance :)

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
* https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
* [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
* Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
* Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
In Firefox 4 you can use one of these to start in [[Safe mode]]:
* Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
* Hold down the Shift key while double clicking the Firefox desktop shortcut (Windows)

• I am having horrendous problems importing XD-CAM files into Premiere CS6

Please tell me if there is a fix for importing XD-CAM .MXF files into Premiere CS6 6.0.0. Have tried the import and the media browser functions. The paths look like this:
PROAV
CLPR
CMPTR
EDTR
USERDATA
Let me know how to do this.....

Also, update your Premiere to 6.0.3 on PC, or 6.0.2 on Mac.
And transfer the entire folder structure from media to hard drive without modifications. That includes any Sony transfer utility, just use Windows to copy stuff straight over.
Then use Media Browser as directed previously

• Access 2013 - Unable to link or import DBF files

2013 does NOT recognize DBF files, we are trying to find a solid work around to link to our DBF files. there are about 30 DBF files that get updated EVERY week. And there are about 60 employees that link to various DBF files.
Does anyone know if a driver or some sort or some sort of solution for this? Any guidance is appreciated. thank you.

Thanks so much for the information.
The DBF files I am using are from Shapefiles that are being used in our mapping software, ArcMap, and are coming from vendors and constantly being updated. Therefore, the need to import to Access nightly and use the data in the dbf files for other
VBA routines. Another problem is that the mapping software can only link to .mdb files, and .mdb files only import .xls data. Even though Excel 2013 does not support importing dbf files using VBA, I could still open and save
a dbf file as a .xls file using VBA as shown below:
For i = 1 To 3
'Open First DBF file and Save
Workbooks.Open "H:\Dbf_Files\Dbf_File" & i & ".dbf"
ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs "H:\Dbf_Files\Dbf_File" & i & ".xls"
ActiveWorkbook.Close
Next I
I found methods on another website to create .vbs and .bat files to run this as a nightly Scheduled Task. After I create the .xls files, another Scheduled Task imports them to Access. I can provide more details if anyone needs them.

• Why Poor DVD quality Encore CS6 with Sony FS100 MTS files from PPro CS6

I am using PPro CS6 on a MAC Pro Quad zenon with Boot Camp. On PC side I was using PPro CS6 & Encore CS6 with MTS files from Sony NX 5U with NO Problems.
I just started using a Sony FS100 recording 1080i (60) format MTS files. When I Dynamic Link to Encore, the quality of the image is very soft compare to image from previous
projects with MTS files from Sony NX 5U.When I open a previous NX5U project, it still displays and creates an excellant dvd.Need help in solving problem.

Thanks for the advice. I tryed your method with same results.
I then tried changing project quality settings with somewhat better results
but not good enough results.
I looked at some of my previous dvds that used mts files from my Sony NX5U
and the quality was much better
that any results I am having using the Sony FS100 mts files. Even still
pictures do not look good now in Encore.
I then tried using Roxio Creator 10 Pro to make a dvd.
The results were excellant! Video files and stills are great.
I noticed that Encore CS6 is using the "Main Concept" codec to transcode.
Has something changed in the basic
settings with my Encore and can I reset my Encore to original defaults???
Any advice would be welcomed...Thanks again.

• .mts files in Premiere CS 5.5

OK, I know everyone's eyes are rolling as I have seen multiple posts on multiple boards asking why .mts files from Panasonic P2 and AVCHD cameras are not playing smoothly in Premiere CS 5.5 sequences. I have yet to find an answer, so here we go.
System Specs - Win 7, dual AMD Opteron 2.3Ghz Processors, 32 Gb RAM, NVIDIA Quadro 4000 video card, plenty of space on both the operating and work array (solid state) drives.
In Premiere, the Mercury playback GPU accelleration is on.
My project settings match my footage (drag clip onto new sequence icon, etc.)
Monitor settings are to full.
Software is up to date.
Other file types (.mov, .avi, .mp4) all play flawlessly. It is just the .mts files that gag (video is VERY jerky, audio plays fine) in the sequence. They play fine in the preview monitor.
My system was built to scream....and it does.....with file types other than .mts. I am sure I am missing a setting somewhere, but where?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! This is VERY frustrating! Thanks in advance!

I've noticed the same problem.
CS5.5 plays the timeline smooth as butter, but when scrubbing it's very laggy.
Even when I play in fast more (keyboard shortcut 'L') at double, triple speed its smooth, but not when scrubbing?
It's the same when scyubbing through a video in the source monitor window, playing is smooth, but scrubbing is not?
I installed the update linked in Adobe todd koprivas post but there is no change.
is there a fix in the works for this?

• No sound when importing AVCHD MTS files into premiere cs5.5

Hello
I have footage that was shot with the sony nx sf-100 and it is ACVHD mts files.
when I import the files to the bin, it is being imported without sound (no sound track at all when dragged into the timeline).
The footage has sound - that has been confirmed.
I am working in an AVCHD sequence and I'm importing the files using the media browser.
There are many refrences to this problem online - but all give the solution of recompresing the videos in a new format, although every documentaion cliams that premiere is supposed to take AVCHD natively including sound.
Does anyone have a solution for this?
Thanks,
Oded

My apologies. I beleive I mixed up my versions for support. 5.5.x should support PCM audio. Thank you, Jeff.
I have confirmed that I am indeed getting audio with files from a Sony NEX FS-100 camera, with CS5.5.2 on my systems. Oded, would it be possible to send me a sample file that exhibits this issue for you?
Things to try are deleting your Media cache (Preferences > Media > Media Cache Database, click Clean button). Make certain that your copy of Premiere Pro is activated: check under Help menu you should see "Deactivate..." noted.
Thank you.

• No sound when importing MTS files into Premiere Pro?

if you can hear the audio with media player or with any other player in your computer then check settings
EDIT--PREFERENCES--AUDIO HARDWARE AND CLICK ON ASIO SETTINGS.
another dialog box will appear and in that under
INPUT AND OUTPUT TAB
MAKE SURE ALL THE OPTIONS/BOXES SHOULD BE CHECKED .
DO NOT FORGET TO UPDATE TO 5.0.3

• Capturing .MTS Files in Premiere

With FCP 7, I could go to File>Log and Transfer and the software would ingest my .MTS clips into my project and store them on my scratch disk. I tried the Adobe Premiere equivalent, which I believe is File>Capture, but I can't seem to get it to work. Will Premiere not ingest .MTS files this way? I know I can copy the AVCHD folder to my computer and import the files (Files>Import), but this creates another step. It seemed easier with FCP 7 as I could get the files into my project and store them on my machine simultaneously.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

The Caption function is used for recording the video stream that is coming from a tape camera, using playback through a connection that is not very common these days. It was a part of the Tape-based workflow. Most of the industry has moved to a tape-less workflow, using file structures like AVCHD instead. Capture would take much longer than copying, as you would have to play the tape back to get the actual movie off the camera.
When you are talking about moving the files off of a media card, the term is Ingest. We do have an ingest tool, Prelude, which can copy the files off the card and get them ready for use in Premiere, but it is not necessary. Just copying the full directory structure of the card onto the hard drive is just fine.
For FCP7, what the program was actually doing was copying those files onto the hard drive, then transcoding them into a format that FCP could readily work with. We don't require that. So, we are actually saving you a step by allowing you to just copy those files and start editing.
It is technically possible to just edit the files directly on the card, but it is discouraged. Copy your files first.

• Quality issue MTS files in Premiere Pro

When I import and work with .mts video files moving objects look very jagged. When I view them in lets say Windows Media player they look fine
The screen shot on the left is from the Program monitor of Premiere the right side is from Windows media.
I know this must be some kind of setting issue but I am not sure what I need to do o correct this problem.
Here are the file properties Premiere is giving me:
File Path: F:\TSP Source files\Alexys\NTI\00088.MTS
Type: MPEG Movie
File Size: 159.0 MB
Image Size: 1920 x 1080
Frame Rate: 29.97
Source Audio Format: 48000 Hz - compressed - 6 channels
Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - 6 channels
Total Duration: 00:01:20:00
Average Data Rate: 2.0 MB / second
Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.0
Any help on what I need to do to correct this video for use in Premiere would be greatly apreciated

Your media is interlaced. PP is showing you both fields when paused, that's why it looks like that. This is normal.
For disk export, keep it interlaced. For web or computer playback, change the export settings to Progressive (No Fields).

• Renaming mts files in Premiere Pro

It seems to be the consenus to not do anything to the folder that you copy over from your camera's media card to your media drive- other than perhaps put it in a folder that relates to your project -
(OR, is it worth going through Prelude which I have scene in some discussions)
For organizing w in your project, can you rename mts files that are already imported in your project , giving the clips a name or subject instead of the 0001 number

For organizing w in your project, can you rename mts files that are already imported in your project , giving the clips a name or subject instead of the 0001 number
Log or enter info into the Description Column instead.
I never touch the filename... unless I was maybe copying one and sending it somewhere.(which by the way works fine for that purpose despite it not being in the Folder Structure)
I have the Description Column next to Filename Column in the Project Window. (Copy and Paste can be your friend)

• Can i edit MTS files with premiere elements 13

I have a new camcorder and I have a problem editing with premiere elements 7, does elements 13 offer a solution? I believe it is the type of file that is not compatible.

In this thread I have no interests but to supply reliable information to you. What I have written stands as is. And, my answer to your questions will continue to be honest and for your consideration. Any questions or need clarification, please do not hesitate to ask me.
As for AVCHD.mts and AVCHD.mp4 in camera whose specifications offer the choice of AVCHD or .MP4.....both have been reported to use a form of AVCHD video compression with different wrapper formats (.mts and .mp4). Again, I did not post to go further into that. Please refer to the following link's post dated February 12, 2014 as one discussion of the matter.
FCP.co Forum :: Topic: AVCHD vs. MP4 ? (1/2)
I did not discover that AVCHD.mts does not play back the audio portion of an AVCHD.mts file when played back in the Elements Organizer 13 player. That has been the reality of Premiere Elements 13/Elements Organizer 13 users who found this out by themselves later than sooner. And, I confirm their results in those cases. There is no fix for this at the present time, and that is a user to user honest non marketing report. If this Elements Organizer issue is not an important concern for you, then this is a non issue for you.
Best wishes with your projects.

• When I import .mts files into Premiere 7 the audio is intermittent?

Good afternoon. I am new to this forum and your help would be appreciated. I have recently purchased a Sony Hard Drive Camcorder X105E and I have done my first filming. When I import the files into Premiere Elements 7 and preview them the audio is intermittent on playback. What am I doing wrong cause I cant figure it out?
Thanks in advance for your answers

OK, on the I/O, you have one, nicely sized, physical HDD. You don't have it partitioned, do you?
With one physical HDD, so many things are happening at the same exact time:
1.) your OS is reading/writing to it
2.) your program is reading/writing to it
3.) your media is being read from it
4.) your OS's Virtual Memory is probably being used, so it's reading/writing to it
The problem is that all of these (plus possibly some other programs/Processes) are fighting to get their data handled at the same time. Each is telling the HDD that it needs the heads in one place on a platter. Same for the next program, and the next. Unfortunately, regardless of the speed of the HDD and the speed of the controller, the heads can only be in one place at one time.
Especially for the Audio (that is more I/O intensive, than the Video usually is - it taxes the CPU much more), you will benefit from more physical HDD's.
I just posed an ARTICLE in the Tips & Tricks sub-forum. It links to two articles by Harm Millard. His article on HDD setup is a gem. Now, it takes things to a professional NLE level, and few are quite ready for that, still the info is good. Much can be extrapolated from his suggestions. Though he lists the ultimate Video editing setup, many concepts can be applied on a smaller scale. You might want to read over the linked articles. They will give you some things to think about.
Also, I just saw an ad for a 1TB WD ATA-300 HDD for US$ 79.00 at Fry's Electronics. While you may need an ATA-100, this shows how far prices have fallen. I've got an ATA-100 1TB, to augment my 4x1TB SATA II's, and it's not that old. I paid US$ 400 for it! Should have waited, but then I've used it for the last year, so all is not lost.
Good luck,
Hunt
