Unable to open search service content sources from SharePoint
HI
unable to open search service content sources from SharePoint , I got this error in search server event viewer .
A database error occurred. Source: Microsoft SQL Server Native Client 10.0 Code: 1205 occurred 1 time(s) Description: Transaction (Process ID 66) was deadlocked
on lock resources with another process and has been chosen as the deadlock victim. Rerun the transaction.
Context: Application 'SP_SearchApp'

Hi,
Based on the error message, I recommend to stop all the crawl process in SharePoint search service application by using PowerShell and then check the results:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/heyscriptingguy/archive/2010/09/28/how-to-use-sharepoint-2010-windows-powershell-cmdlets-to-manage-search-crawls.aspx
The deadlock error will occurs when there are too many overlapping crawls, so I recommend to schedule the crawl to not overlap in SharePoint and add more crawl components if needed.
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sharepoint_strategery/archive/2014/02/10/sharepoint-search-and-deadlocks-in-sql-server.aspx
If above cannot work, please also check the ULS log and SQL server for detailed error messages.
Best regards.
Thanks
Victoria Xia

you can check it at GlassFish Admin console (usually running on port 4848).
You need to log on to Admin console with the (default) or changed password (depends if you changed it during installation).
There you could see your web service deployed (usually in the "folder" Web services).
If you can see it you should see also wsdl - for your web service.

Unable to delete search service application
We accidentally deleted the three databases related to Sharepoint Search. Luckily, this was done on the test server. So now I have the search service application but no related databases. I want to delete this search service application
and recreate it but it won't let me do it because during deletion it's looking for these databases and I get an error message that it can't find them. Is there any way to either recreate these databases or force deletion of this Search Service application?
thanks,Hi,
If you have the backups for these databases related to SharePoint Search, you can try to restore them.
If you donot, you need to use STSADM.EXE command as below to delete the corrupted search service application:
Stsadm -o deleteconfigurationobject -id %GUID%

Unable to open PDF output (PDF downloaded from Interactive Report--APEX)
Hi,
I'm getting below error while opening a PDF file downloaded from an interactive report (APEX).
Adobe reader cound not open "TEST.pdf"because it is either not supportd file or because the file has been damaged.
Thanks & Regards,
Ramamuni.Steps of pdf Printing of Report from FOP:
1) Download and unzip the following needed files in D:\Apex_fop directory.
2) Open your command prompt .
Change the directory to D:\Apex_fop\cocoon-2.1.11.
Set the Java_Home environment variable as: set JAVA_HOME= C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_21
then type build war
3) After getting the prompt back as D:>Apex_fop>cocoon-2.1.11>
Copy coocon.war file from the folder D:\Apex_fop\cocoon-2.1.11\build\cocoon.
Paste this file into webapps subdirectory in main tomcat directory having path as D:\APEX_FOP\apache-tomcat-6.0.26\webapps.....place it in the top
level of webapps directory.
4) Now just startup tomcat as D:>APEX_FOP>apache-tomcat-6.0.26>bin>startup.bat
The cocoon.war file will automatically uncompressed as directory.
5) To change the port of apache tomcat , edit apache-tomcat-6.0.26\conf\server.xml & change port attribute of Connector element from 8080 to 8181.
Just check whether Tomcat is running or not as http://localhost:8181/
& to check cocoon type http://localhost:8181/cocoon/
6) Now copy fop_post directory & paste it undes new cocoon directory in webapps having path as D:\APEX_FOP\apache-tomcat-6.0.26\webapps
\cocoon.
7) Now you need to do some apex settings as follows:
In APEX, just log in as ADMIN into apex/apex_admin and went to Instance Settings and did the following:
- Print Serverr: Standard Support
- Print Server Protocol: HTTP
- Print Server Host Address:localhost
- Print Server Port: 8181
- Print Server Script: /cocoon/fop_post
In your APEX application, in the Regions section, Click on the Print link next to your report and do the following settings:
- Enable Report Printing: Yes
- Link Label: Print
- Response Header: Report Settings
- View File As: Attachment
- Output Format: PDF
- Report Layout: Default Report Layout
- Print URL: f?p=&APP_ID.:1:&SESSION.:FLOW_XMLP_OUTPUT_R1063230002781575
8) Open up the Report Page and click Print , You will get the pdf report.
I am sure this will help you

Recently unable to open Pages or any documents therein. It seems to be stuck in the Cloud. Although I can open a list of the documents I can not open any of the documents.
The answer is simple... If you want to remedy this, then don't save them as PDFs.
Word opens Word and text documents. Not PDFs.

How to migrate search configuration and db from SharePoint 2007 to SharePoint 2010
hi all
currently we have a plan to migrate sharepoint 2007 farm to sharepoint 2010 with sp2 version. we have used the ssp, and only the search function.
Now the search db is quite big.
we have to use the database attach way to do migraion, because the old system must be online in 24 hours per day.
what i want to know is can we migrate the search db directly instead of recreate content source and reconfigure the search and do full crawl?
thanks.Hi,

Unable to open .htm file in browser using SharePoint 2013 ?
On Share Point 2013 we had .htm file which was published under excel as shown below (File name t1.htm)
As the Icon is different from normal excel file.
My question is why the .htm file is opening in Excel when we access from SharePoint Web Interface ?
And when we use the option "Open in Explorer" it opens the .htm file in browser.
I need the publish .htm file needs to be open in Browser.
Thanks for reply.Looking at this a little more closely, what happens is when you upload the Excel HTM file, a folder is also uploaded to the Library (but hidden outside of the WebDAV view). This folder would be named "t1_files" in your case. If this folder is present (which
it needs to be as t1.htm references files within it, including all of the sheets), then it will attempt to open with the client application because of the association within C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\Web Server Extensions\15\TEMPLATE\XML\DOCICON.xml,
referring to the line:
<Mapping Key="Excel.Sheet" Value="ichtmxls.gif" EditText="Microsoft Excel" OpenControl="SharePoint.OpenDocuments" OpenApp="ms-excel" />
Removing this line will cause it to be treated as a standard HTM file, but I'm not sure how that will work out for your scenario.
The other option is to install and configure Office Web Apps 2013 on a separate server so you can display Office documents in the browser.

Unable to open camera raw 6.0 from Bridge CS5
I just Installed photoshop CS5 and I am unable to view and open my NEF files in Camera Raw from Bridge CS5. It worked perfectly fine with Bridge CS4 and Camera Raw 5.1.0.30. Anyone has any suggestion other than using my old Bridge CS4. I have mas OS X 10.6.3 installed on my computer.
Many ThanksNatdale wrote:
I have de-installed and re-installed the entire photoshop CS5 and it is still the same... I am at lost and using my old CS4 bridge for now.
You'll need to confirm that the Camera Raw plug-in was correctly installed so that both Photoshop _AND_ Bridge can access it. For Mac the only correct location that is should be installed is: the root level Library (not the user Library). Inside of the Library look at Application Support/ Adobe/Plug-ins/ CS5/ File Formats/ Camera Raw.plugin
If the Camera Raw plug-in isn't there and/or any of these folders are not there then Camera Raw is not properly installed...if Camera Raw is correctly installed then you may need to do several things...first, in the folder you are trying to see raw images, go up under Tools/ Cache/ Purge Cache For Folder. If that doesn't work you may need to trash your Bridge CS5 preferences. To do that, hold down the Command/ Option/ Shift keys while double-clicking the Bridge app icon and choosing Reset Preferences...
If Camera Raw was not properly installed, sorry, can't help you...you may need to contact Customer Service for installing tech support. -

Unable to open Camera Raw 6.7 from Bridge CS5
I am unable to view the RAW images that were taken on my D90 in Bridge CS5. They show up blank with the Camera Raw logo in the center and "NEF" in the upper left hand corner. This is the first time this problem has occured because I was (and still) able to view RAW images taken from my old D40. I have tried everything including updating my Camera Raw to version 6.7.0.339, but to no avail! I have no error messages, btw. I am operating Bridge and Photoshop CS5 on Windows 7 (32-bit). I found this thread, and it seems extremely helpful, but it's for Mac users: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2842306
All you need to do now is to refresh (purge) the cache. Everything is fine with your install.
That the right version of the ACR Plug-in is installed in the correct location is proven by the screen shot of the "About Camera Raw" splash screen. It would not show up in "About Plug-in" if it were not in the correct location.
I also take it only one instance of Camera Raw shows up in your list.
I see absolutely nothing in your first screen shot that would prevent you from sliding your mouse over to the "Purge Cache for This Folder" menu command and then letting go of the mouse. That's all it takes. That menu item does not appear to be grayed out. The only thing that is not clear is whether you do in fact have a folder selected.
The reason you see the generic NEF icons without preview is that the cache for that folder was built when you still had an older version of ACR that did not support your camera. That's why the cache needs to be purged (refreshed) now.
Humor me for a second and perform the following experiment: Select all the generic icons you see in the Content panel in Bridge and right-click on them in order to call the "Purge Cache for Selection" command you had discovered earlier and mentioned in a previous post. You should see the icons turn into thumbnails before your eyes.
Now you can just use the "Purge Cache for this Folder" command on any other folder containing generic NEF icons without having to select the individual icons at all.
If you already have a bunch of folders harboring generic NEF icons, go ahead and use the central Purge Cache command in Bridge preferences to purge the entire Bridge cache on your disk in one fell swoop.
Hope this helps. Let me know.
