Unable to open the requested node - error message

Question

I get this error message when trying to connect WGM to my open directory system. This is on Server 2 and I have it set up as a"server connected to an open directory system"
" The node /LDAPv3/10.1.2.1 couldn’t be opened because an unexpected error of type -14002 occurred."
Also get this error message as well.
Error of type eDSOpenNodeFailed (-14002) on line 3809 of /SourceCache/ServerManagerApp/ServerManagerApp-230.2.51/PMMUGMainView.mm

You can get more verbose logging out of DirectoryService via:
sudo killall -USR1 DirectoryService
and look in the log
It's logged to /Library/Logs/DirectoryService/DirectoryService.debug.log
Be sure to run
sudo killall -USR1 DirectoryService
again to shut off the verbose logging.
For that errocode,
-14002 corresponds to: eDSOpenNodeFailed
ie : "Attempt to open a node failed."
So you can't connect to LDAP or it's not seen.
Verify ldap is even running (if not, all OD users should be complaining at this point)
via:
ps -ax | grep ldap

You might try
lookupd -flushcache
although I'm not certain that alone will solve your issue here.
