Unable to pass parameter value from a Task flow to a Portlet

Hi All,
I'm using Jdev 11.1.1.6.0 and created a simple ADF application with one Taskflow which contains one JSF page to display the User details from the default LDAP configured within the Integrated Weblogic Server. The Taskflow have one Parameter to accept the User Email Id as input. Based on the given input value, we will fetch the User details from Weblogic server and display in the JSF Page. I created a portlet out of Taskflow by "Create Portlet Entry" and deployed it onto Integrated Weblogic server.
Portlet works well when executed standalone for the given User Email Id values as input.
Then I created a webcenter Application, On a page, there is a task flow that contains a form with one input text field and one Submit button, and a portlet (that displays the User details from LDAP) that listens for user input from the form. Clicking the Submit button sends the user entered texts to the listening portlet. This is a combination of contextual events established by the producer (task flow) and the wiring of the portlet based parameters from within the consuming page definition file.
The taskflow page which contains the form with Submit button, within the page defintion file contains an event binding (submitEventBinding) and a contextual based event (submitEvent). This event is tied to the ActionListener of the commandButton.
After added both the task flow and the portlet onto a page, I have subscribed to the contextual event of the task flow, and completed the wiring of the Taskflow and Portlet events together.
But in the Form, when I enter the User Email Id in the input filed and click the Submit button, I'm getting the below error -

  • Unable to get parameter values from a remote database

    I am linking to a remote database view via a synonym in Oracle and trying to retrieve parameter values from it.  The username and password are the same for the local and remote database and I can run the SQL query using SQL plus against the database and values are returned.  However, when I try and run the same query in Crystal Reports (XI) I receive an Oracle error:
    "An attempt was made to connect or log in to a remote database using a connection description that could not be found.
    Action:
    Specify an existing database link. Query the data dictionary to see all existing database links. See your operating system-specific Net8 documentation for valid connection descriptors. "
    How can it be that Crystal cannot run the query when it is valid in SQL plus?
    Any tips/info would be appreciated.

  • How can i pass parameter values from html to a shell script

    Hi Guys...
    I had a requirement where i need to execute a sql statement and print the output in HTML page. This report has parameters to enter. So i created a HTML form which accepts parameters. When the submit button is pressed, the action tag in the form invokes unix shell script file. It will open sqlplus and run the sql script file .sql and print the output in the HTML page.
    sql script contains the query and some set options which prints the output in HTML page. Like "SET MARKUP HTML ON"... The query has some parameters like "select * from emp where empno = &&empnumber. I will use the same name "empnumber" while created the HTML parameter form like " <input type = "text" name="empnumber" size="10" align="left">.
    user sees this parameter form and enters some value in to that empno text box.
    My question is how can i catch these parameter values in a shell script and pass it to the sql script to execute it.
    Help Appreciated
    Thanx

    This is a A Bad Idea (tm). This type of CGI processing is old and were (and still is) full of security holes. Very easy to inject stuff (Unix commands and SQL) into it.. To get those parameters into SQL*Plus requires using Unix shell commands to process it - and something like a backquote allows all kinds of nasty stuff to be injected. The Unix shell was never designed to be used as a secure CGI environment.
    There are far better and far superior alternatives. Perl (with Perl_DBI) and PHP (using Zend Core for Oracle) come to mind as web scripting languages.
    Even easier is using HTMLDB. Very few moving parts. Is free. Supports Oracle 9.2 and 10G.

  • Passing parameter value from one script to another in job chain steps

    Hi all,
    We have a scenario where in we have a job chain with two steps
    1-Step 1 contains a script which fetches value from database to the script parameter(in/out) - PAR_DB_VALUE
    2-Step 2 contains another script which uses the value of the parameter PAR_DB_VALUE and has to assign to another parameter in the script 2 called PAR_FETCHED_VALUE(in)
    How to pass the value of PAR_DB_VALUE to PAR_FETCHED_VALUE which are parameters in two different steps
    Please help
    Thanks and Regards
    Raj

    Hi,
    You can achieve this as follows (CPS version 6 & 7):
    - Edit the chain
    - Go to the second step, to the parameters of the script call in that step
    - Go to the parameter (PAR_FETCHED_VALUE) that you want to be filled by the parameter of the first step
    - choose "Chain value" in the detail screen for the parameter, and select the desired out parameter from the drop down
    Note that both parameters need to be of the same type for this to work.

    Anton.

  • Pass parameter value from oracle reports to HTML

    Hi,
    Can anybody tell me if i can pass oracle reports6i parameter value to HTML.
    Any ideas/suggestions would be helpful
    Thanks
    KAvitha

    Kavitha,
    I didnt quite understand your question. Do you mean you want to use the report parameter form and pass the values entered there to an html form where you will display the output based on the parameters entered by the user ?
    If so, No. Not to the best of my knowledge. You can pass parameters from an html form to reports though, if this is what you are looking for.

  • Unable to pass the values from one report to another using navigation links

    Hi All,
    I am facing a strange issue where I have to pass a column value from one report to other.
    I have kept navigation link in the 1st report and 'is prompted' option in the 2nd report
    Issue was , I'm not getting the filtered result in the 2nd report (all the records are being displayed)
    Can anyone advice where I was going wrong
    Thank you,
    AO

    Hi,
    The column which you have given navigation link and 'is prompted' column should same and exist in both the reports.You have to give the guided navigation in the value interaction of the column in the report1.
    mark if helpful/correct.........

  • Passing Parameter Value  from Global link

    Hi All,
    I have one common Page. It will be accessed from many other Pages. So I added a link in Global button bar to access my common PG. While I click the link , I like to pass url of the current Page. I like to get suggestion for this....
    Thanks

    Mukul,
    managing a session value is feasible, but not a suggested solution in this scenario as the common link is going to be accessed from multiple pages and it is a global link on all the pages. This will require making changes to all those pages.

  • Passing parameter value back from Child region [BTF] to Parent

    Hello,
    I am using Jdev 11.1.1.6. I have a use-case where I need to pass value back from child taskflow to parent.
    Let me elaborate the use-case:
    I have a main page which is implemented as BTF with fragment. This main page contains a child region [again a BTF with fragment].
    I am passing a parameter value from parent page to it's region using taskflow input parameter. Now value for one of the parameter changes inside child/region taskflow and I need to make this value available to main page taskflow.
    This parameter is just pageFlowScope variable, so basically not coming from any VO.
    I know that taskflow can return value via return parameter but I don't know if that is true for taskflow implemented as region in a page.
    Is it possible to communicate the pageFlowScope variable value from child region to it's parent page?
    Thanks,
    Jai

    Hi Frank,
    I tried to follow steps mentioned in your post but encountered error that "The scope of the referenced object #{viewScope.parentBeanName} is shorter than referring object childBeanName"
    Let me explain what I did:
    1. Created a bean parentBeanName in viewScope
    2. Created another bean childBeanName in pageFlowScope
    3. In ChildBean.java, created a private property parentBeanProperty for Class [ParentBean] and generated the accessors
    4. Created a input parameter in region TF as:
    <input-parameter-definition id="__28">
          <name id="__27">parentBeanParam</name>
          <value>#{pageFlowScope.childBeanName.parentBeanProperty}</value>
          <class>ParentBean</class>
          <required/>
    </input-parameter-definition> 5. Since my mainPage contains child page as region. I added parameter to mainPageDef to pass it to child TF, like this
    <parameter id="parentBeanParam" xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adfm/uimodel"
                       value="#{viewScope.parentBeanName}"/>6. Introduced a client method in childBeanName that is called from UI. There I am retrieving parentBeanParam instance from pageFlowScope and call setter method of my variable inside ParentBean.java
    7. Ran the page but encountered the error.
    Did I miss something somewhere?
    Initially I got error where #{viewScope.parentBeanName} returned NULL due to parentBeanName not instantiated. I created a variable in mainPageDef with it's default value pointing to #{viewScope.parentBeanName.variableName}, which I guess will instantiate the bean in viewScope.
    After this I got error of shorter scope. It never reached to code in Step 6 during execution cycle.
    FYI - My application is based on UIShell and essentially a one page application. Main page referred above is also a jsff based on BTF. I hope, this should not affect this implementation but I thought of at least mention it.
    Thanks,
    Jai

  • How to pass a parameter to a bounded task flow?

    Hi,
    We are facing issue while passing parameter from a bounded task flow to another bounded task flow and then showing the passed parameter in a jspx page.
    We have a caller task flow with following component:
    1. A jspx page
    - In this jspx we have a text box have its value as #{pageFlowScope.inputvalue}.
    - Also we have a command button which has its "Action" as the control flow that leads to the "called" task flow.
    2. A bounded task flow named "called".
    So, we call the "called" task flow on the button click in the jspx page.
    Also, in called taskflow we have a jspx page where we are using a output label to show the parameter passed from caller task flow to the called task flow.
    We performed the following steps to set the parameter passing from caller task flow to the called task flow.
    1. Select the input text component on the JSF page.
    2. In the Property Inspector, enter a value for the input text component. You can specify the value as an EL expression, for example #{pageFlowScope.inputValue}.
    3. In the Application Navigator, double-click the name of the called task flow to open its diagram.
    4. Click the Overview tab for the called task flow.
    5. Click Parameters and expand the Input Parameter Definition node.
    6. Click the Add icon next to Input Parameter Definition.
    7. In the Name field, enter a name for the parameter, for example, inputParm1.
    8. In the Value field, enter an EL expression where the parameter value is stored and referenced, for example, #{pageFlowScope.inputValue}.
    9. In the Class field, enter a Java class for the input parameter definition. If you leave the Class field empty, its value is by default implicitly set to java.lang.String.
    10. In the editor, open the diagram for the calling task flow.
    11. In the Application Navigator, drag the called ADF bounded task flow and drop it on top of the task flow call activity that is located on the calling task flow. Dropping a bounded task flow on top of a task flow call activity in a diagram automatically creates a task flow reference to the bounded task flow.
    12. In the Property Inspector for the task flow call activity, click Parameters and expand the Input Parameters section.
    13. Enter a name that identifies the input parameter.
    14. Enter a parameter value, for example, #{pageFlowScope.parm1}.
    Now when we try to fetch the value of parameter using #{pageFlowScope.parm1} in the jspx in called taskflow, its not giving the desired value.
    We even tried to set the to and from parameter of the jspx in called askflow. But no success.
    Can anyone let us know if we are doing smething wrong or exact steps to configure passing of parameters to a bounded task flow and retrieving it in a jspx page will also help.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Tushar,
    In step# 14, the value should be "#{pageFlowScope.inputValue}" (should be the same as the value in step#2) .
    tushar wrote:

    Thanks in Advance !! :D

    It's not the parameter in the cursor that is the problem, it's that you are trying to use static SQL for something that won't be known until run time (the owner of the table).
    You would need to use something like ...
    declare
       l_owner        varchar2(30) := 'SCOTT';
       l_ref_cursor   sys_refcursor;
       type l_ename_tab is table of scott.emp.ename%type;
       l_ename_array  l_ename_tab;
    begin
       open l_ref_cursor for
          'select ename
          from ' || l_owner || '.emp';
       loop
          fetch l_ref_cursor bulk collect into l_ename_array limit 10;
          exit when l_ename_array.COUNT = 0;
          for x in 1 .. l_ename_array.count
          loop
             dbms_output.put_line(l_ename_array(x));
          end loop;
       end loop;
       close l_ref_cursor;
    end;

    Hi All,
    Good morning..,
    I have scenario like:
    I want to pass the values from the web dynpro appication to the SAP Back end R/3 Table. IN backend the RFC is writtn to accept the structure input from the Webdynpro.
    Upto know I imported the corresponding RFC and maaped to the View.
    How to proceed with the coding to save the data...
    PLease suggest...
    Regards and Thanks in Advance,
    CSP

    Hi  Pradeep
    Steps:
    1. First create an instance for bapi and bind the instance to the bapi node.
      Z<bapi name> zb=new Z<bapi name>();
      wdContext.nodeZ<bapi name>. bind(zb);
    2. Then if u have the import parameter u have to set them by using
        The instance of the above bapi.
        Zb.set<import parameters>;
    3. If the bapi has a table parameters then the structure for the table parameters will also be imported
       In the model class.
    4. Set the table parameters by creating the instance for that structure and using this instance set it.
       Z<Struct>itm tab=new Z<Struct>();
       Tab.set<table parameters>
    5. Then add the structure instance to the bapi instance.
        Zb.add(Tab);
    6. Then Execute the bapi after setting the import parameters.
    7.  If there is any export parameters, then get the values after execution.
    Look at this thread for codes

  • To pass parameter values to the object reference of action step in sequence file of teststand programatically using C#.

    //Initialize the Engine
                EngineClass myEngine = new EngineClass();
                myEngine.LoadTypePaletteFilesEx(TypeConflictHandlerTypes.ConflictHandler_Prompt, 0);
                Step myStep = myEngine.NewStep(AdapterKeyNames.DotNetAdapterKeyname,StepTypes.StepType_Action);
                myStep.Name = "object";
                DotNetModule dotnetmodule = myStep.Module as DotNetModule;
                dotnetmodule.SetAssembly(DotNetModuleAssemblyLocations.DotNetModule_AssemblyLocation_File,@"C:sequence.dll");
                dotnetmodule.ClassName = "CN";
                dotnetmodule.MemberType = DotNetModuleMemberTypes.DotNetMember_GetProperty;
                dotnetmodule.MemberName = "ISI";
    mySequence.Locals.NewSubProperty("object", PropertyValueTypes.PropValType_Reference, false, "", 0);
    Sequence mySequence = myEngine.NewSequence();
                mySequence.Locals.NewSubProperty(varName, PropertyValueTypes.PropValType_Reference, false, String.Empty, 0);
    mySequence.InsertStep(myStep, 0, StepGroups.StepGroup_Main);
                SequenceFile seqFile = myEngine.NewSequenceFile();
                seqFile.InsertSequence(mySequence);
    seqFile.Save("C:\\mySeq.seq");
    I have done this,dynamically creating a sequence file in teststand programatically through c#.
    Problem is
    1.I created an action step and object Reference variable for the step, but i am not able to pass  parameter values to the objectReference
    2.I am not able to load the sequence in to the main Sequence of the sequence file in the teststand. How can I do these two things.

    Currently, functionality for retrieving the Metadata Token for a class constructor or member is not fully provided in the TestStand .NET Adapter API. The DotNetModule.GetConstructorMetadataToken() and DotNetModule.GetMetadataToken() methods only return the correct Metadata Token when the member/constructor prototypes have already been loaded. Thus, in the case of your code, when you call DotNetModule.GetMetadataToken(), the method is returning -1 because the member prototype for the Step you are referring to has not yet been loaded.
    That means have to do a workaround for your stuff.

  • Passing Parameter  values

    Hi,
    Iam trying to print a crystal report, but it is not prompting me to pass the parameter values.
    i want  user to pass parameter values.
    Iam using VB.Net code to generate the reports.
    Could plz help me
    Thanks
    Ravi

    assuming v_seqprocess_id takes the process_id, I'd probably go with something like:
    cursor sum_cur(p_process_id number) is
    select sum(cheque_amt), sum(balance)
    from   table
    where  process_id = p_process_id;and call the cursor passing v_seqprocess_id into it.
    That's if I had to do extra processing on top of getting the values, etc.
    Otherwise, I'd go with:
    insert into table2
    select sum(cheque_amt), sum(balance)
    from   table
    where  process_id = v_seqprocess_id;Message was edited by:

  • Passing parameter value via href in a servlet to another servlet

    Hi
    I have this issue with passing a value from one servlet to another servlet. the situation is is this.
    i have a servlet tstret.java which say..pulls out all the employee_id(s) from a table and displays it as hyperlinks( using the anchor tag.).
    now when i click on the hyperlink say T001 , The control is passed to another servlet which pulls out all the info about employee id T001.
    the problem i have is in the tstret.java servlet. i am passing the employee_id as a parameter in the href path itself as shown below.
    out.println("<td ><a href=\"http://localhost:7000/servlets-examples/accept_requisition.html?id="+[u]rs.getString(1)[/u]+"\" ><em>"+rs.getString(1)+"</em></a></td>");now if you see the code i am trying to pass the employee_id by attaching it to a variable id and passing it with the url, it gives me a sql exception saying no data found .
    if i pass a string say "rajiv" which i defined at the begining of code then i am able to pass it to the next servlet/html.
    the full code is as follows
    file : tstret.java
    import java.io.*;
    import java.sql.*;
    import javax.servlet.*;
    import javax.servlet.http.*;
    public class tstret extends HttpServlet
         PrintWriter out;
         String[] employee_identity;
         public void doGet(HttpServletRequest request,HttpServletResponse response)throws ServletException,IOException
              try
              response.setContentType("text/html");
              out = response.getWriter();
              String session_name="SHOBA";//request.getParameter("session_name");
              out.println("<html><head><title> My Jobs </title></head>");
              out.println("<body bgColor=#ececec leftMargin=10>");
              out.println("<table align=center>");
              out.println("<tr align=center><td><img src=\"http://localhost:7000/servlets-examples/images/topbar.gif\"></td></tr>");
              out.println("<td>Jobs for : "+session_name+"</td>");
              Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
              Connection connection = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:odbc:tst","scott","tiger");
              Statement statement=connection.createStatement();
              ResultSet rs= statement.executeQuery("select req_no from require_info where sent_to = " + "\'" + session_name + "\'");
    //          out.println("Jobs for : "+session_name);
              while(rs.next())
              /*     String[] get_id={"shoba","ping","ting","ving"};
                   for(int i=0;i<get_id.length;i++)
                   out.println(" <tr align=\"center\">");
              //     out.println("<td><a href=\"servlet/testhyper\" name="+rs.getString(1)+"><em>"+rs.getString(1)+"</em></a></td>");
                   out.println("<td ><a href=\"http://localhost:7000/servlets-examples/accept_requisition.html?id="+rs.getString(1)+"\" ><em>"+rs.getString(1)+"</em></a></td>");
                   out.println("</tr>");
                   out.println("<br>");
              }catch(SQLException se){out.println("sqlexception"+se);}
              catch(ClassNotFoundException ce){out.println("cnfexception"+ce);}
              out.println("</table></body></html>");
         public void doPost(HttpServletRequest request,HttpServletResponse response)throws ServletException,IOException
              doGet(request, response);
              Can some one help me and see if there is anything i missing or doing wrong.
    thanks in advance

    Try storing the id at the top of the loop, then using that for the URL and the link text, instead of calling rs.getString(1) twice:
      while(rs.next())
        String emp_id = rs.getString(1);
        out.println(" <tr align=\"center\">");
        out.println("<td ><a href=\"accept_requisition.html?id="+emp_id+"\" ><em>"+emp_id+"</em></a></td>");
        out.println("</tr>");
        out.println("<br />");
      }
