Unable to print book - error with page info

I'm trying to print a 50 page book. No problem assembling, uploading or purchasing but after a day or two I always get the following message from the Apple store.
Due to an error when your order was submitted, the file we received contains incorrect page information. As a result, Apple is unable to process your order and you will not be charged. Before submitting a new order, we have some suggestions for correcting the issue:
Update your software.
Preview your product in iPhoto or Aperture.
Place your order again.
If you are unable to update iPhoto, or are prompted to purchase updated software, you may consider the troubleshooting steps below:
Open iPhoto and go into your book project.
Choose to view "All Pages".
Once you are on the "All Pages" screen, click on the last page that appears.
Choose "Layout" and then select "Spread" from the "Layout" drop down menu.
You should then see that the rear flap page appears. Subsequently, you can make the desired customizations before resubmitting your file.
Preview your product in iPhoto or Aperture.
Place your order again.
We appreciate your business and apologize for any inconvenience.
This is the third time this has happened. I've tried both sets of instructions. The final time, the .pdf preview displayed but the formatting of the page was all out of whack - photo sizes incorrect, wrong font, wrong font sizes - The software is updated, I'm running OS Mavericks and iPhoto 9.5.1.
I'm all out of ideas, here. Any input greatly appreciated.

As Terence pointed out it's a damaged library, most likely the database file, Library6.iPhoto. To protect from future occurrences of such a damaged library you can keep a current backup copy of the database file on hand and ready to replace in the library package if you ever get the blank or "!" indication again for the full sized file. See the tip at the end of my signature for an easy way to make those backups.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

HP Color Laserjet 1600 cannot print in color with Pages 09

Hi, everybody!
I got a huge problem for me that the HP Color Laserjet 1600 cannot print in color with Pages 09 after I upgrade to 10.6.1. It worked very well in 10.5.8. Since there is no official driver from HP website for 1600, so I used foomatic/foo2hp as the driver.
It is very strange that I can print in color with Safari and Preview in 10.6.1, but cannot with Pages 09. When I print with Pages 09, it always shows that the print job was completed but my printer was nothing happened.
I just re-install the 10.6 OS "complete new", install the printer driver with the instructions on this forum.
It would be high appreciated if somebody can help me on it!

Why doesn't MAC just give us the driver for the HP Color Laserjet 1600? It's one of the most popular home based business laserjets. It's the one I use and a lot of other people in business use it so I'm at a loss as to why they don't.
I bought my MAC Pro tower for video editing and I can't print from it and have had to reinstall the OS on it once already because Safari wouldn't open a window. So much for the MAc advertising statement of "We're so much easier to use."
After spending close to $10,000 on MAC equipment, Tower, Laptop, Monitor, etc. if they think I'm going to spend more for a new printer just because I can't get a driver to print they're thinking wrong. I going to re-think my new cell phone purchase too. Has anyone had software issuses with their phones before I go out and buy one?

ABLE TO PRINT IMAGES, UNABLE TO PRINT BOOKS!

I saw a message a while back with the same problem, but with no answer. Please help! I can print images, but i can't print a book's page, unless there's only text in the page!

Generated PDF from within Aperture, then tried printing it: same behaviour (got prints only for pages with text only).
Any other PDFs in my computer print fine, whether pages with images, photos, text or combination of all of them.
It seems that aperture is not only unable to print from its own system, but it inherits those flaws to the PDFs it generates as well.

Unable to assemble book error message

After selecting buy book, the bar says assembling book then quickly comes up with a error message saying unable to assemble book.* -[NSPlaceholderMutableString initWithString:]: nil argument . What is going on and how do I fix it.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. It might be that you have left a text box empty. Look thru the pages and in any text box that has no text just put a space. Then try again.
If that doens't help, make a backup copy of the library and rebuild the library as follows: launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select the first three options. Try again.

Printing database records with page numbers

Have an old database with name, address info and want to print an updated listing of all the records using AppleWorks 6.2.9 I inserted a footer in layout mode and then created a text field with page number in it. Went to browse mode and my 23 pages looked fine with page number at the bottom, as I wanted. But when printed, the page number appeared underneath every single record, as well as at the bottom of the page. Is this fixable?

The printed version would suggest that the page number had been inserted into the Body part of the layout, whicle the screen version (assuming Page View has been checked in the Window menu) would suggest that the page number was correctly placed in the footer part.
I suspect that either the DB file or AppleWorks preferences files have become corrupted (possibly both).
I would start by rebuilding the Layout that is misbehaving, starting from a 'standard' layout.
If that doesn't solve the problem, Quit AppleWorks, trash the preferences (see THIS User Tips Library post by Peggy for details), relaunch AppleWorks and try again.
If the problem persists, try Saving a copy of the db as an AppleWorks 5 file, then close the original and open the AW 5 version into AppleWorks 6. (This conversion sometimes corrects internal problems with database files.)

Unable to print book

I just finished a book using Aperture 1 and learned Apple no longer supports it insofar as printing books goes. I'm retired and I really can't afford to upgrade right now. Also I'm using Aperture 1.5 Academic so I'm pretty sure I'm ineligible to upgrade to Aperture 2 anyway. Would it work to use the 30-day trial of Aperture 2 just to print the book and then wait until my retirement income increases (hah!) to buy Aperture 2? Even if I could use the trial version to print the book, would anything happen to my current books/files once the 30-day trial ended and Aperture 2 disappears? Are there other options. It's a nice book and I'd hate to think I won't be able to print it. Thank you for any advice.

I shoot weddings on the side and have been working with a client for over a year to get their album finalized in Aperture 1, then today when I went to order it I found the error about not being able to print albums using Aperture 1. It says I need to upgrade to Aperture 3, but being on a PowerPC Dual G5 that's impossible. I've been a longtime Apple supporter but this really fries me. I might try finding a copy of Aperture 2 to see if that will work. Suffice it to say, I am promptly uninstalling Aperture after this project. If either of you have found any workaround, please reply. Can i print books created with iBook Author?

I'd like to create a book with images and text. Can anyone tell me if 1. this can be done on MacBookAir - I don't have an iPad. 2. once the book is created, can I then send it away to be printed and bound?

Apple doesn't print books, you would have to find someone else to do that.
The software for making books runs on full computers like the MacBook Air, not on the iPad.

Unable to Print in Windows with Vmware Fusion HP LaserJet 1006

Prints fine on the Mac with 10.6.1 and HP driver updates.
Printer worked flawlessly with Leopard 10.5.8
Will not print in windows. Open the print queue and it says it is printing (it isn't), sometimes the message is that it is waiting for the printer to become available, (printer is available).
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The print job gets sent to the printer, but it wont print. It says waiting for printer to become available. When this happens I am also unable to print from the Mac side and have to restart the computer to be able to print from the MacBook. Simply turning off the printer and then turning it on doesn't help.

Unable to print email documentation or downloaded info

Hi, I'm unable (recently) to print any documentation off emails or downloaded programs, I have an iMac 10.9.4 , this seems to be a new problem...any suggestions? is it a settings thing or Safari? thanks

I don't know if this will help you, but I have an hp deskjet 2512 and a dell computer. I could always print emails and then today it would not print the content of the email, only the heading. I have been searching on here for a solution, but have found nothing. Just for the heck of it, I tried to print another email and after clicking on print I clicked on "pages" , where you can indicate what page you want printed and it worked! It printed the entire email. Go figure.

Netboot errors with no info

Having some weird errors with Netboot on OS X server 10.4.5
I have 4 different images running off the server, a base install image with os x 10.4.2. They all worked, I imaged my whole workplace at the beginning of the year with no problems or errors. We have about 200+ macs and I had no problems.
Now there seems to be some weird errors with the netboot service. I can't seem to image any of my computers.
There are errors, but with no logs, nothing that I can find.

if I restart the server I have no problems the service some online, but then goes to this state once I start to image machinces.

Delete Address Book Duplicates with less info?

I was wondering how you would go about deleting duplicate contacts in Address Book 4.0.3? I want to keep the contacts I have which contain at least the "Company" field filled in (contacts with more info) but then delete the ones with less. If a bunch of vCards have the same name but different email addresses will will they merge into only one vCard (by default I think another program put multiple emails with the same name and when I merged vCards there was only one email address for that name)? Should I merge the ones I don't want?
What do you guys think is the best solution? Should I merge the cards and make sure the names of the contacts are all different (except the ones I'm merging)? Use some other program? Please respond if you have an idea because I don't. Thanks.

No, not with Pages, although I guess you could with a barcode font. I find it much easier to print envelopes using the free EasyEnvelopes widget.

You mean USB HUBs, correct? Not routers.
Yes remove the HUBs and try the drives connected directly to the computer.

Unable to Print MSDS's with WWI

Hi,
I have a problem that SAP printing is working fine, however users are unable to print MSDS's, The prints are showing up as completed in the SAPLPD however in the spool requests for the printers these are not showing up (normal SAP printing to these printers are working fine). I have checked the rfc connection to the WWI server and this is working fine.
Are there any other things I should check for this problem?
Any ideas would be a big help

Within the WWI monitor I had to reactivate the server.

Wireless printing errors with Pages

Appleworks documents print fine using an airport extreme base station but Pages documents leave 90% of the document unprinted. Is this a known software problem or do I have an individual problem ?
