Unable to restore from Time Machine after an erase and reinstall - MacbookPro cannot access my old Time Machine backup volume. Desperate for help please?
My MacbookPro would not move past the Apple logo and spinning wheel for a number of hours. After trying the numerous suggestions to solve the issue I eventually opted to erase and reinstall feeling confident my Time Machine backups would come to the rescue. After a successful erase and reinstall I tried to restore all my data from my TIme Capsule using Command-R during start up and by using the Migration Assistant. Neither worked and I have received messages to the effect that the backup volumes on my Time Capsule cannot be access because I have entered a wrong password or because the backup volume is damaged.
When I open my Time Capsule in Finder and click on my sparsebundle I get an eror message saying that the disk image could not be opened and that the resource is temporarily unavailable.
Desperate for some help and comfort that many years of personal data have not been lost.

Be sure you have prepared the new drive correctly:
Drive Preparation
1. Boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID (for Intel Macs) or APM (for PPC Macs) then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
Steps 4-6 are optional but should be used on a drive that has never been formatted before, if the format type is not Mac OS Extended, if the partition scheme has been changed, or if a different operating system (not OS X) has been installed on the drive.
When formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer. Complete the OS X installation. -
Every time i go on my itunes its as if i have just got it and i have never used it before it's as if it resets over night and the next day i have to load all my apps, music and movies back on to it. if anyone can help or if anyone knows someone who can please say something because its a right pain in the neck. In Control Panel, turn off Vaio Content Folder Watcher and VAIO Content Metadata Intelligent Analyzing Manager.

Sony has issued upgrades for some models, check you Sony download site to see if there is one available.
I would check the work around first.
If that's not it, try temporarily disabling you continuous backup to see if that is the cause. -

There is no supported way to do so. Be aware, photos synced to your phone were reduced in resolution for display on your phone. There is no way to recover their full resolution.
You should be backing up your Mac. If you did so, you wouldn't be facing this issue. -
iMac crashed, trying to use Time Machine backup. In Restore From:it only offers Macintosh HD on ..... (grayed). There are backups listed below. When I click on a current backup and click on continue I get a "Select a Destination" with Searching for disk, but nothing comes up.
I am connected to my Passport if that helps, but I think that is where it is getting the backup list.
Any help on how to proceed?

When I go into 'Restore from Time Machine Back up) I can access the Time Machine HD ok. But then when I go onto next page (Select a Back Up) the 'Restore From' option only has the greyed out name of my crashed HD (this seems wrong?). If I continue the process to erase starts and then stops, message says:
An error occurred while adding a recovery system to the destination disk.
it only seems to want me to back up to my crashed HD which I have no intention of using -
I am using reader 11.0.10.32 in Win7 Professional 64 bit. I am unable to print from Reader. After selecting print all pages, the progress bar goes through the proper page count. After that a pop up window appears with the message: The document could not be printed. After pressing the OK button that pop up closes and the next pop up window appears with the message: There were no pages selected to print. After pressing the OK button, the pop up closes and the pdf document is still visible in Reader.
I can print from other programs to that printer. I can print from Reader to other printers.
I was able to print to all printers before. I uninstalled Reader and reinstalled it from the Adobe web site.
Any suggestions to make it print?

Oh, that. Yeah, I've done it when I got the printer. Thanks. But the ePrint is not the same as the Wireless printing. Firstly, I have to go through the hassle of sending an email and secondly, when I email the document to the printer, it takes 2 pages to print it out, whereas the Wireless only takes 1 page. So it's not only about saving the time, but also the paper and the colour.
This is driving me crazy. I am pretty sure that all the features've been set properly. The printer is connected to the same internet (Magnet****) as my i-phone and the computer. (Just with a little difference - the computer is connected to the internet router by a wire, the printer is connected wirelessly.) Both the lights on the front of the printer (Wireless, ePrint) are on continuously. The printer accepts all the printing jobs from my computer as well as all the ePrint jobs. Only my i-phone keeps telling me that there've been No AirPrint Printers Found. Even though it has worked. I really can't think of anything to fix it. Can you? Please?

Are you trying to open the backup files via the Finder or an application? If so, that's not how you should access your backups -- use the "Star Wars" display, per #15 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.
How did you get your stuff on the new Mac?
It sounds like you may have skipped the offer to transfer it when your Mac first started up, created a user account, then used the Migration Assistant app instead. If so, that may be the problem; doing it that way means you end up with an extra user account, and can lose permission to files on other volumes, especially backups.
Please clarify just what you're seeing, and whether you still have the old Mac. -
I would like to access an old Time machine back up from a Core 2 Duo Macbook, but no longer have a Mac. I am going to buy a used machien to acess this. Can I access the backup from a cheaper old ibook, or would I need a Macbook. Is the OS important?
right click on the folder that shows with the red negative sign, and select to "get info". In the long skinny window that appears, look in the "sharing and permissions" section. In the "name" column, you should see your current user name. Ensure the "privilege" is set to Read and Write. No RESTORE FROM CARD OPTION after updating to vers...
It was found that there is new firmware available for E66. Back up was made to the card, as it was suggested by Nokia's software. Before to proceed with upgrade it was checked whether RESTORE FROM CARD option is avail;able and it was available. So proceeded with update. Update was done version shown 400.21.013 24-10-2009 RM-343 Nokia E66-1 (207.05). Inserted the card with back and... NO RESTORE FROM CARD option available? Only backup.arc file is in the backup folder, which is seen only on computer using card reader.... Does it mean we lost everything completely? Are there any other EASY WAYS (except of paying fifty bucks to Noki) to restore?... Why does not NOKIA still implemented the possibility for PC SUITE to read and restore from ARC files?
Tried looking in Desktop & Screen Saver. The option is just not there on my iBook, though it is on the iMac.

How can I get Time Machine to back up an external hard drive (iPhotos) that is attached to airport extreme base station. Note: Time machine is usb to macbook pro and external drive with iphotos is usb to airport extreme base station. Help please. Thanks!
Once you have the drive connected to your Mac, click System Preferences (gear icon) on the dock
Click Time Machine
Click Options
Be default, the hard drive will be Excluded from backups. Click the drive to highlight it, then click the "-" (minus) button at the bottom of the list to remove the drive from Excluded items.
The drive will be backed up on the next Time Machine pass
Everything above assumes that the hard drive has been formatted in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) as Time Machine will only backup drives in that format. -
My MacBook w/ OSX 10.6.8 cannot access my external Time Machine Backup USB Drive. It says it is a Read Only drive. When I went to change permissions I found all pernissions were listed as "Custom" and I could not reset them to "Read Write". Any help would be appreciated.
This can be done easily with ethernet.
Please follow the instructions strictly.
To make it easier I want you to do this overnight so you can turn off all your current connection to the internet.
Just go to the airport fan in to the top right and turn airport off.
Get ethernet cable and connect the laptop to the TC lan port.. ie <-> ones.
Press and hold the reset on the TC for about 10sec. until the front led flashes rapidly.
Open the airport utility.. go to manual setup and change the wireless to off. (so other people around you cannot join your network of one).
Ignore all the errors.. they won't stop the backup working.
Go to the TM and reselect the backup target disk as the TC.
It should start after 2min and run through to completion.
That is it.. for a backup of many GB it might take a few hours.. so make sure the laptop has power plugged in and the sleep is off.. (on early ones I think this is needed but I am a late arrival to the scene).. sleep doesn't affect later OS. -

Now i can't seem to access the old back ups for the new phone. Does this mean Icloud has deleted the old back ups?
