Unable to run the CODED UI in visual studio 2012 on windows 8

Hi,
I have recorded my first program (i.e Open windows calculator using Windows +R and typing calc in it) using CODED UI in visual studio 2012.
I have create the new solution using CODED UI project. I have use the Recorded the steps using UImap- Coded Ui test builder.(i.e just opening the calc). All the class file ,CodedUitest1.cs, UIMap.cs, UIMAp.Designer.cs is generated.
Now when i am trying to run the same test by using right click on Coded Ui method and trying to Click RunTests method I am getting the following below error

Could any one please help me if i need to add some special setting while running the code.

You didn't specify any error. The Build message is saying that MSBuild ran and found that 1 project was already up to date and didn't need to be rebuilt. There were no other projects that were built.

Simple Application Walkthrough specifically instructs one to edit App.xaml (because it previously had you inject a defect by changing the name of the file StartupUri property points to). So that is the scenario, or one of them. I assume it is 'valid'
to rename MainWindow.xaml to whatever you want it to be.
So there should be some way in the IDE to fix this (short of changing the file name back to match StartupUri). What is it?
Like another person here, I just edited it with a text editor and reloaded it into VS. But...

Cannot connect to the targeted site in Visual Studio 2012

Hi,
I am trying to access SharePoint 2013 "qa" sites from development server. When I try to build Visual studio projects, I am keep getting this below error.
"Cannot connect to the targeted site. This error can occur if the specified site is not hosted on the local system. SharePoint solutions work only with locally-installed versions of SharePoint Foundation or SharePoint Server. Remote development is supported
only for apps for SharePoint 2013."
I tried to change the host file, with the current machine IP address and all. Not successful on that.
Highly appreciated, for any helpful points here.

Try the following 2 options:
Option 1:
You can use the following command:
%STSADM% -o deploysolution -name testSharepointSolution.wsp -local -force
%STSADM% -o deploysolution -name testSharepointSolution.wsp -local -force
You cannot use -url parameter if your solution package does not have an assembly or feature specific elements(elements.xml).
You may ask why we need to provide the -url as a parameter? the reason is sharepoint needs to know which web application web.config it needs to add <SafeControl> attribute.
Option 2:
Check your scope of your WSP (Farm, Site etc.). Try to use the powershell command :
Add-SPSolution -identity [drive-path]\yoursolutionname.wsp
Install-SPSolution -identity yoursolutionname.wsp -webApplication http://siteaddress -GacDeployment
Even then, if you get the error, try changing the scope of your WSP to farm if you want your resources to be globally available. If not, change the scope of it to specific web application.

Visual Studio 2012 pro @ Windows 8.1

When I build my Project, I always get the following errors:

In the properties is the right Version Number installed, I have the right SDK-kits (8.1, 8.1A), I reinstalled the Software and also the Laptop a few times, nothing works.

1. Have you get any installation problem when install?
2. Are you able to use Visual Studio to create projects before you get this error?

Cannot open visio template in visual studio 2012 COM Exception "An exception occurred"

This works fine in visual studio 2008 and server 2008. But after migration to visual studio 2012 and windows server 2012(this code runs in a windows service in server) it is no longer working throwing COM Exception - "An Exception occurred" while
opening a template. Visio 2013 is installed on both server and client. Tried changing the file extension from vst to vstx. but no use.

Can we develop a solution in Visual Studio 2012 and still deploy it on BizTalk 2010? or Is it that solutions developed in VS 2012 have to be deployed only to BizTalk 2013?

BizTalk 2010 projects are not compatible with Visual Studio 2012. To use Visual Studio 2012 with BizTalk 2010 projects, you must install
BizTalk 2013 on the computer that has Visual Studio 2012. The first time you open a BizTalk 2010 project, it is automatically upgraded to the BizTalk 2013/Visual Studio 2012 project system

Can't connect to VPN anymore after installation of visual studio 2012

it took me few days to resolve an issue, so decided to share here.
as a headline goes the story was: I installed Visual Studio 2012 on Windows 8 and after installation an L2TP vpn connection gave error 789
the solution I found with my internet provider was to change in registry
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Rasman\Parameters]
"ProhibitIpSec"=dword:00000001
it looks though that this issue should be fixed, while my solution works it is hardly useful hint for most
affected ( if only they find a solution by search ).

Installing Visual Studio 2012 update 4 on Windows 10 preview

Hi all,
I successfully installed visual studio 2012 on Windows 10 preview but when I try to install update 4 I get an error about compatibility:
I tried downloading the update with "VS2012.4 /Layout"
but I could not find any way to control the compatibility setting...
any advise?

What's the name of the file you're using to install Visual Studio?
It seems there may be a bug in Windows 8.1 (and hence also Windows 10) where re-naming the EXE file fixes the problem. More information is available
here, however the applicable text is below:
"Thank you for taking the time to submit this issue to Connect. This is a known issue with Windows 8.1 RTM and it will be addressed in a future update of Windows 8.1. In the meantime,
you can typically rename the EXE to get it to work correctly.
Examples:
Visual Studio Professional 2012 installer should be renamed to vs_professional.exe
Premium -> vs_premium.exe
Ultimate -> vs_ultimate.exe

Unable to run the local bussiness server - Error during startup of BPA

When i installed the BPA tool and started the 'LOCAL' server in oracle BPA Network. I am getting an error saying 'Unable to run the local bussiness server'. Then i checked the log and found the foolowing errors. Please suggest !

S1:I uninstalled BPA.
S2: I installed BPA again using the default options by selecting all the default options that the BPA showed during installation. EG. I selected 'Oracle Lite' which was by default an option.
S3: After BPA installation, I also installed BPA Publisher which i had not done last time.
S4: Restated my system and it all works gr8 now.
Actually, the BPA Publisher creats a Repository area so it should have been installed along with the BPA installation. And Since a Repository area was not found it was giving this error message again and again.
Now its all fine . Hopefully, some one else will learn from my mistakes.

–> Start Admin server from command prompt

It will ask for user name / password. Specify the user details that you used at the time of the Oracle BI 11g install. You could also use a ‘Boot Identity File’ -(boot.properties). Check the documentation for more details.
Wait untill you see message Admin server is in ‘RUNNING MODE’.
–> Now start Managed server from GUI
Access WebLogic console from a webbrowser
http://<machinename>:7001/console
Login, Environment > servers > Control > select bi_server1 > click on start
It would take some time for the Managed server to start. Wait untill you see the ‘Running’ status.
–> Now start the OBIEE components from command prompt
Cd bi0104\instances\instance7\bin
opmnctl startall
Note that it’s a possible startup sequence. There are multiple ways to statup.
i am getting all above messages all but not getting oracle process manager up in the services.msc

Hi all,
I try to use a stored procedure as data provider but i get this error
DA0003: Exception CS, Unable to run the query execute
I use BusObj Full Client 6.5 pointing to SQL2005.
I choose stored procedure as data providers of a new report, then choose the Oledb connection to the database in which the sproc is saved (this sproc executes some queries, all on the same db). Then I fill in the parameter of the sproc and when i click OK I get this error.
The sp works fine if executed from a query tool. Basically it queries BusObj Security Domain in order to get the documents a single user has linked (both enabled and disabled). It doesn't do nothing exceptionall except using some table variables... I tried also with this simple func:
CREATE FUNCTION [dbo].[Yesterday] (@date int)
RETURNS int AS BEGIN
   DECLARE @Yesterday int
   SET @yesterday = convert(varchar, DATEADD(dd, -1, convert(datetime, str(@date), 112) ), 112)
   RETURN(@Yesterday)
END;
But it returns the same error!
I tried changing middleware to the DB from oleDB to ODBC but in this case it doesn't prompt me for parameters and when i click execute it fails saying the sproc expects a parameter...
I have no idea of what the cause may be... Can anybody help please?

Could you please test the following solutions to resolve the issue.
Solution1:
Test the issue by inserting the following parameter in .SBO file.
<Parameter Name="Force SQLExecute">Always</Parameter> .
Solution2
Just put SET NOCOUNT OFF in the end of the stored procedure SQL.
If the above doesnu2019t works then please try the following solution.
Solution3
Make the new connection from the scratch using ODBC connection and test the issue.

We are using the Grid Control for monitoring purposes, and we get this error frequently from different databases. Please do let me know if anyone have faced this error before or know about it. Any kind of help is greatly appreciated!

Where are you seeing this error?
Can you confirm the target exists (check targets.xml on the agent) and that the instance of the target has it defined correctly (all the required instance properties are there)?
Given that those check out, can you open up the metric browser on the agent and make sure the target looks ok there.

I am unable to debug the jspx page on Jdeveloper Studio Edition Version 11.1.1.6.0, Build JDEVADF_11.1.1.6.0_GENERIC_111205.1733.6192.1, using Windows 7 OS.
When right click on jspx page , clicks on Debug option, it gives the following error:
Debugger unable to connect to local process.
[Server Instance IntegratedWebLogicServer is shutting down. All applications currently running will be terminated and undeployed.]
I also restarted the Jdeveloper, even re-installed Jdev but still the problem persist.
Any help is appreciated.

If the jspx page is not part of the adfc-config.xml the page can only be displayed, but the tags will not work as the adf life cycle is not involved. drag te page onto the adfc-config.xml (the unbounded task flow), right click on it and select debug from the context menu.
Main problem is : Weblogic server cannot be started in debug mode.
To check this, open the application navigator, select the integrated server, right click on it and select 'debug' from the context menu.
After a short time you should see some messages and at last you should see <Runnning> in the message log. Now the server runs (without any of your applications, but it runs).
If you done't see the 'Running' message you should see an error, which you should post here.
