Unable to save a downloaded movie.."not enough movie data available"

I downloaded the HD version of Sigur Ros - Heima from the Quicktime HD gallery page. Beautiful. I wanted to save it to view again later....the computer chugs, process bar crawls, and then stops saving with message "Unable to save movie..not enough movie data avilable"
I tried downloading and savinmg the 480p version on my laptop with no problem..it "flattenedf" it and saved and plays back no problem. (G4 PB, 1.25 ghz, 512 ram)
The computer having the problem is the one I turned on today for the first time, MacPro 2.67 ghz 5gb ram.
Any ideas why this will not save? the whole movie must be in RAM and should be able to be saved to disk in a flash...
thanks!
marten

  • Unable to save or download files, already tried suggested options

    I'm not the most tech-savvy creature on the planet, so bear with me.
    For a while now, I've been unable to save or download files using Firefox. IE isn't working either, but I only initially used IE on this computer to download Firefox anyway. I've tried the [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Unable%20to%20download%20or%20save%20files suggested options].
    I'm not incapable of downloading though - Steam and the Blizzard launcher are still working as always. AVG's updating download, hoever, doesn't appear to work. On occasion, I have been able to download things - VLC Media Player and seldomly an item I attempt to download will successfully be saved. It's so infrequent and unpredictable though, that I can't reliably find out what's allowing me to do so. Needless to say, since my virus and spyware scanners appear to be borked, I'm more than a touch worried and unable to download any suggested alternatives.
    When downloading a file, it will briefly appear in the location I saved it to before vanishing. I ask now because my computer's performance has seriously dropped within the last month or so, and I'm not convinced I'll be able to sort it out while I'm so thoroughly grounded without downloads.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi there, I've had a java problem ever since i removed an old version thinking that i didnt need it because i had newer versions, well, i've learned alot since then, but unfortunately not enough. I play an online game called runescape. For one month now, i've been searching up on google, EVERYWHERE, trying to find help so i can play my game again.
    I get up to a point where the game loads the game script, and on 100% comes up with an error "Error_loader_savefile - Unable to save to cache". I've tried everything, i've installed almost all of the java versions, I've been through environment variable settings and made sure that the PATH is pointing to a version of java, What can i do, im desperate for help, please post back. • Message "Could not save because there is not enough memory (RAM)"

    Running Mac OS9.2.2 Suddenly start to get and error message " An error occured saving the enclosure "file name" Not enough memory" when trying to save an attachment in Microsoft Outlook. Same thing with Adobe Photoshop - when trying to save an any new file - message "Could not save because there is not enough memory (RAM)".
    Already Tried:
    During several freezes, suddenly my mac stop recognize any extensions. When used Microsoft Outlook and tried download an attachment got an error message type 3. So I create a new set in extensions manager and get ride of Type 3 error, but get a new error message "Not enough memory" when try to save an attachment, or "Not enough RAM" - when try to save an EPS file in Adobe Photoshop.
    In Outlook ("Get Info" section)changed memory size:
    Suggested Size: 7168 K
    Minimum Size: 16000 K
    Preferred Size: 16000 K
    In all mailboxes - there are not that many messages and they are not heavy at all, I checked them all before. And I rebuilt/compressed Outlook database - holding Option while restarted Outlook...
    Adobe Photoshop - started acting weird at same time. Even if I want to open a file through the menu: File - Open - it gives me the same message.
    Who has any clue - please help!!!

    Hi, Mike -
    I have Outlook Express's Preferred memory allocation set to 45000K, and don't have any problems with attachments. Don't be afraid of increasing OE's Preferred memory allocation (nor IE's, either - I have that set to 65000K).
    How large is the Messages file used by the account you're using in Outlook? You can examine that file here - (hard drive) >> Documents >> Microsoft User Data >> Identities >> (account folder, either the default "Main Identity" or one you've created) >> Messages.
    It seems that the Messages file grows with each email received; but does not shrink when an email is deleted. Over time, especially when lots of attachments are involved, that file can get huge.
    One way to help it not get too big is to -
    • delete attachments after copying them to the desktop. In case you're not familiar with the easy way to copy an attachment to the desktop - select the email so it opens; click the small triangle next to the legend "Attachments" between the upper pane and the lower pane in Outlook's main window; drag the attachment from the list out onto the desktop. It will be extracted and copied to that location. Once that has been done you can delete the attachment from the email with which it arrived.
    • after purging your emails of unneeded emails and attachments, compact the file. To do that, quit Outlook if it is running. Then hold down the Option key and start up Outlook. A splash screen will appear asking if you want to compact its database files - click yes. Follow the prompts.
    Compacting OE's database can also fix some instances of a damaged database that can't be used.
    If you could answer a few more questins, perhaps we can offer additional suggestions -
    1) How much RAM do you have installed? That means the physical RAM, not counting Virtual Memory in use, if any.
    2) How full is your hard drive - how big is it, how much free space is left unused?
    3) When was the last time you rebuilt the desktop file?

    Hi,
    According to the error message, please use performance monitor to diagnose if it is a memory-related bottleneck and you can use the counters of the memory part in the article below:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/2008.08.pulse.aspx
    In addition, it may be due to thousands of open connections to the server are in a TIME_WAIT state. You can run "netstat -an" command on the affected server and client. If you see mutiple connections in the TIME_WAIT state, you can follow the article
    to increase the number of TCP/IP connections:
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee377084(v=bts.70).aspx
    Furthermore, if you are running windows server 2003, please make sure that you have installed the KB 948496 and stop all services that you don't need.
    Best regards,

  • "There is not enough virtual memory available. Please save your work and restart {0}"

    This seems to be the most recent similar post. Prior posts are not useful as they have supposedly been fixed.  The most relevant Microsoft connect case has been closed.  The reported new Microsoft connect case has been deleted without explanation.

    Yet, still the problem persists.  Only working on one small XAML file. VS2013 and Blend always report "There is not enough virtual memory available. Please save your work and restart {0}" (except when they report "Package 'DesignPackage'
    failed to load" when run in safe mode) Saved my work and restarted VS2013, Blend, and the computer. Followed all other suggestions as much as possible.
    There is an abundant available and virtual memory.  The only changes from last week to this is Microsoft updates.
    Has there been any new effort on this issue that I have missed?
    What is left to do?

    Get IT to do it. Get them to uninstall all the latest updates, since you can identify them as a proximal cause of the problem. Also, search MS Knowledge Base or do some googling for the exact error text.

    In a finder window highlight and right click the folder you are trying to save to and select Get Info. In the window that opens look at the bottom to see if you have Read/Write permissions. If you don't click the Plus sign and add your Admin Username to the list and give it full Read/Write permissions.
    Open Disk Utility and on the First Aid tab select Repair Permissions and let it run.

  • Downloading via XHR and writing large files using WinJS fails with message "Not enough storage is available to complete this operation"

    Hello,
    I have an issue that some user are experiencing but I can't reproduce it myself on my laptop. What I am trying to do it grab a file (zip file) via XHR. The file can be quite big, like 500Mb. Then, I want to write it on the user's storage.
    Here is the code I use:
    DownloadOperation.prototype.onXHRResult = function (file, result) {
    var status = result.srcElement.status;
    if (status == 200) {
    var bytes = null;
    try{
    bytes = new Uint8Array(result.srcElement.response, 0, result.srcElement.response.byteLength);
    } catch (e) {
    try {
    Utils.logError(e);
    var message = "Error while extracting the file " + this.fileName + ". Try emptying your windows bin.";
    if (e && e.message){
    message += " Error message: " + e.message;
    var popup = new Windows.UI.Popups.MessageDialog(message);
    popup.showAsync();
    } catch (e) { }
    this.onWriteFileError(e);
    return;
    Windows.Storage.FileIO.writeBytesAsync(file, bytes).then(
    this.onWriteFileComplete.bind(this, file),
    this.onWriteFileError.bind(this)
    } else if (status > 400) {
    this.error(null);
    The error happens at this line:
    bytes = new Uint8Array(result.srcElement.response, 0, result.srcElement.response.byteLength);
    With description "Not enough storage is available to complete this operation". The user has only a C drive with plenty of space available, so I believe the error message given by IE might be a little wrong. Maybe in some situations, Uint8Array
    can't handle such large file? The program fails on a "ASUSTek T100TA" but not on my laptop (standard one)
    Can somebody help me with that? Is there a better way to write a downloaded binary file to the disk not passing via a Uint8Array?
    Thanks a lot,
    Fabien

    Hi Fabien,
    If Uint8Array works fine on the other computer, it should not be the problem of the API, but instead it could be the setting or configuration for IE.
    Actually using XHR for 500MB zip file is not suggested, base on the documentation:
    How to download a file, XHR wraps an
    XMLHttpRequest call in a promise, which is not a good approach for big item download, please use
    Background Transfer instead, which is designed to receive big items.
    Simply search on the Internet, and looks like the not enough storage error is a potential issue while using XMLHttpRequest:
    http://forums.asp.net/p/1985921/5692494.aspx?PRB+XMLHttpRequest+returns+error+Not+enough+storage+is+available+to+complete+this+operation, however I'm not familiar with how to solve the XMLHttpRequest issues.

  • Not enough storage is available to process this command on 32bit Windows

    Hello,
    After deployment of an application in production, we have started to experience the error:
    java.lang.Error: : Not enough storage is available to process this command.
         at java.lang.Thread.start0(Native Method)
         at java.lang.Thread.start(Thread.java:574)
    with the configuration:
    - JRockit27.6/
    - WebLogic 9.2.3 with a 1,4GB heap
    - 32-bit Windows2003 with /3GB.
    The problem is caused by threads created by JCIFS and other 3rd party libraries.
    The JVM process (java.exe) grows from 1,4GB to 1,96GB and the exception starts to occur.
    Is there any other solutions than:
    1) Move to 64-bit, http://cn.forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=1062107
    2) Decrease the heap
    3) Reconfigure Windows, http://stackoverflow.com/questions/507853/system-error-code-8-not-enough-storage-is-available-to-process-this-command
    Any help to stabilize this 32-bit setup is appreciated!
    Edited by: Allan Andersen on 2010-11-03 02:39

    Had the pleasure of this one myself, due to (excessive) thread creation by JCIFS during AD log ons. This is an Out Of Memory exception. Not in the heap, but in the native memory used by the JVM process. I solved the issue by enabling the /3GB switch on Windows. Alternatively profile the memory usage of your application to minimize its usage of native memory. Look at these links for more inspiration:

    I have deleted hundreds of pictures, I've deleted apps, deleted emails and texts, and I've turned off and deleted backups of apps on icloud and it is still telling me that there is not enough icloud storage available for my phone to be backed up. I am supposed to do this before I go to the Apple store today to get my phone fixed. Can someone please help me? I have done almost everything.

    This article explains ways to reduce your iCloud storage: Managing your iCloud storage.  In addition to what's mentioned in the article, if you have lots of photos and videos attached to your text messages, these are all included in your iCloud backup and deleting them can sometimes significantly reduce the size of your backup.
    If worse comes to worse, back up your phone to your computer rather than iCloud.  To do this, connect it to your computer, open iTunes and go to File>Devices>Back Up and to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases.  This can be used to restore your data when you get your phone back.  (In fact, it's faster because you don't have to download the data from iCloud.)

  • Photoshop CS3 "Not enough scratch memory available" error.

    Hi,
    I am Using Adobe Photoshop CS3 Version 10.0 and I keep getting the error "Not enough Scratch memory available to perform this action" whenever I try to Save a .psd file to a .jpg/.jpeg file.
    I did go to Edit -> Preferences -> Performance, and add my other two partitions as scratch disks, also put up my E: drive as the primary scratch disk on the top of the list (Which has 80GB's of space) but I still keep getting this error.
    My file (the .psd that i am trying to save to a .jpg) has a total size of 56MB and 300dpi with 4 or 5 layers in it and the target jpg file is supposed to be 12inches by 20inches.
    Some other things I have tried is celaring the %temp% folder, Defragmenting my Hard Drive(s), Disk Cleanup, set my System Page file to 4GB, but all this is of no use.
    I know that I have enough RAM and Hard disk space so please help me get rid of this problem.
    Also, this maybe a stupid question but, does the type of RAM and Processor you are using effect this? I have a DDR RAM.. 2GB, I know its outdated, its our office computer I am working on.. My Processor is a Core 2 Duo which isnt bad.
    HELP PLEASE!!!

    You might try a forced shutdown to begin with, hold down the top and home buttons together until the device shuts down, then restart it.

  • CS5 "Not enough scratch memory available" error when there's plenty of it.

    Illustrator CS5 throws this error:
    Adobe Save For Web AI Error
    Could not complete this operation. There is not enough scratch memory available.
    OK
    when trying to save for web. The content has a lot of linked images, around 1000x1000 px each, used with clipping masks, drop shadows and glows at 300dpi.
    I realize that this might be hard to flatten for JPEG and I'd be fine with long processing times (which I get) but out of memory?.. Here's my config:
    Illustrator CS5
    Windows 7 x64 Ultimate
    Intel Core i7 920
    6GB RAM
    Total pagefile size: 24GB.
    Primary scratch disk - 155GB free.
    Secondary scratch disk - 544GB free.
    Those are all gigabytes, not megabytes, no mistake. There's NO WAY that there's not enough scratch memory available.
    And this is how the process looks:
    Physical memory usage at this point is 62%, Commit charge - 15%.
    Currently, I can work around this by making a screenshot of "Original" tab in Save for Web dialogue when it's there - because sometimes it's just a pink-filled window.
    So, Adobe, any suggestions, please?

    Asmodeus,
    Illustrator CS5 has some improvements to how Raster Effects are rendered on screen. So even if you use 72ppi DRES, you would see very little/no difference compared to 300ppi DRES - i.e., pixelization issues would be almost non-existent.
    Could you try this out & come back with your findings?
    Also if you just want to send something to other people for Previews, maybe a PDF with the 'Smallest File Size' Preset be good enough. These can be viewed with the (free) Adobe Reader.

  • Not enough storage is available to process this command

    When I try to execute the start_management_server option with jrcmd I get the following error "Not enough storage is available to process this command". How much memory is required to execute this option? I am also interested in determing what would be required to enable SSL and authentication. The company I work for is under tight audit requirements and will want me to utilize SSL and authentication.
    Thanks in advance for any and all help provided.
    Michael

    Just thought I would provide a quick update...
    We are still trying to get this to work completely on our eFix systems before making the changes to production. We had to change ssl=true to ssl=false in order to connect. This may have to do with how the tech on the other side made the change. In other words, he may have been able to do something else but for now didn't care about the SSL since we are connecting over a COAM.
    I can start up the Console now and see current data but we are being blocked from recording. I had them download the license file as defined in one of the sticky posts regarding license files for previous versions of JRockit. I no longer get that I don't have a license but that the JRA section of the license.bea file does not exist.
