Unable to Save Responses As PDF

We have several users that have access to view responses to our Adobe formcentral forms, lately we are having issues with saving the responses as a PDF.  We are accessing formcentral via IE (we have tried alternative browsers and doesn't seem to matter), and it happens to different users at different times during the day.
When we are in the respective account and try to download the response as a PDF (doesn't matter whether we use the arrow to the right of the row, or the save as PDF feature at the top) sometimes the sytem gets stuck on the spinning clock.  Is this a formcentral server tie up or is it on our end?  Anyone else experience this?  Do we need to clean out old responses?
It seems to work sporadically, we are now stuck with using the "view details" feature to see our form responses and print them out that way but we would like to be able to use the download as PDF feature like we used to do.  This issue has been going on for about a month on and off and seems to be worse now. We have tried to contact someone through the Formcentral support (No.: 0185350898) and they gave us a "FIXITWIN" file that did not resolve the proplem.  We have one user that tried to download the desktop formcentral client to see if it would work through that method instead of through the browser and that did not make any difference.  We have had our IT support check this issue out at one station and he's unable to determine what could be the problem and seems to think it's on formcentral's end.
Please help.

Yes I've tried to download them via the method you indicated and also by using the save as PDF feature button, once we get stuck with the spinning clock, we have to completely close out of formcentral and log back in to attempt the whole proces again.  Unfortunately it is not linked to a specific form, we have several forms, all which were once working properly and now are encountering this issue.  Again, this incident is not tied to any particular form, it sometimes works and sometimes it gets stuck, and I can't seem to pinpoint any pattern to a specific time of day (we thought maybe it was a many users accessing the forms at the same time).
This morning I attempted to download responses from several forms and was successful, however, when I had another user try they were unsuccessful.  I just attempted it on one of my forms and no luck.  Is there a capacity limit?  We have some forms with over 300 responses.

  • Requesting user capability to "Save Response as PDF File w/form design intact"

Love the new admin "Save Response as PDF File with form design intact" feature, but we really need for our indivual users (i.e. the ones filling out the form) to be able to do this. Our director still needs a hard copy of the form for manual signatures and those who pay by check. Our committee chairs use the online data (from excel file) but we also need the user to print a hard copy to physically turn in to the director. A .pdf file with form design intact that our user could print out and turn in would be helpful.

    Hi,
We have an "Ideas" page where you can add or vote on feature ideas:
    http://forums.adobe.com/community/formscentral?view=idea
I am pretty sure this idea has been added for you to vote on, but I didn't find it to link to.  I know it is a popular request though so if you need to add a new idea click "Create an idea" under "Actions" in the top right, I am sure it will get a lot of votes..
    Thanks,

  • Information is missing when I save responses as PDF forms

When I save a response as PDF, I only get 3 pages from the filled in response. While it should be 9 pages. One of the tables doe not continue on the next page. How can download the response exactly in the format form the design? Now I'm missing to much information.

    Hi Emma;
I am pretty sure that what you need to do for all of the content to fit properly in PDF is to use the "Page View" setting/mode on the Design tab (default view is "Web View" for web forms) and edit the content in that view to "fit".  The "Page View" view mode is to design/tweak the form to work in PDF, the changes made in "Web View" are still there including all features not supported in a PDF, but any Page Breaks added in either view are unique to that view, if you add a Page Break in Web View you will not see that in the PDF or Page View, if you add a Page Break in Page View it is only used in the PDF.
If you were to have used the "Save Submission Enabled PDF" button on the Distribute tab you would have seen an error that the content does not fit and it would have taken you into "Page View" on the Design tab where it would show you the content that would be cropped in a PDF.  We'll address the issue that this error does not come up when saving the response as a PDF form.
The view drop down selector is in the bottom right corner in the Design tab:
There are a few things you can do in Page View to get the content to work in PDF but not change the HTML/web form too much.  You can of course add page breaks, and you can break up large form fields, but you can also simply change the font size to get things to fit sometimes, or go into "File" - "Form Setup" and change the page size which will only affect the PDF and not the web form, a larger page will fit more content.
Hopefully this helps but let me know if this was not the solution to your form.
    Thanks,
    Josh

  • Save response as PDF, excluding the hidden fields

I have recently created a new form, which contains a number of fields which are only shown dependent on rules.
This all works as it should from the users POV, however, when saving the response as PDF, the document contains ALL the fields which are on the original form design.
Is there any way of saving the form as PDF, but excluding the fields that the user didn't even know were there?  A properly completed form should cover at most 2 pages, however, because of the additional fields, each one is coming back as 8-9 pages long.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Carl

    Hi,
    >>Is there any way of saving the form as PDF, but excluding the fields that the user didn't even know were there?
    Sorry, this is not possible.
If you like, you can use this form to "vote" on popular feature requests, or to add a new one of your own:

  • Unable to save files as pdf with CS5 AI

What do I need to do to be able to once again save files as pdf with out freezing up AI

are you using a MAC or a Windows machine??
there is no other place to set your PDF exports--(there are workarounds-but that doesn't solve the base problem)  there should just be a choice in a drop down menu when you do a 'save as' and the PDF options window should open when you choose Adobe PDF
you should 'consider' reinstalling Illustrator as it seems that you've somehow lost your presets for PDF--BUT--
first--need to know what OS you're running--if you recently updated a 'MAC' (to Mavericks 10.9.x) that could be the problem and I don't know if CS5 is problematic with Mavericks--IF you're using a Windows machine--a reinstall may prove to be the solution.
let me know what OS you're running...OK?
this window 'should' get to this other window

  • Unable to open responses to PDF Forms

I'm SO frustrated! I cannot open responses to a distributed survey!
Created a survey in InDesign, exported to PDF (smallest file size using Adobe Presets), added fields, distributed to a test audience. They were able to open, respond, and return to me ("internet" email). I was able to download their attached response file but could not open it. It came in as an "FDF" file type and when I click to open, I get this message:
"The file you are attempting to open contains comments or form data that are supposed to be placed on [name of survey]_distributed[1].pdf. This document cannot be found. It may have been moved, or deleted. Would you like to browse to attempt to locate this document?"
And of course, the document cannot be found. I do, however have the appropriate survey documents, _distributed and _responses, in my folder.
Please tell me that my audience does NOT need Adobe Acrobat Pro in order for me to open responses and the Adobe Tracker to receive data!?!?
    System: Windows XP
Programs: InDesign CS4, Acrobat Pro 9, Adobe Reader 9.2
    Thanks for any assistance!
    Kimberlee

From what document do I do this? I just tried the [survey]_responses and nothing happened. From [survey]_distributed, the "import" fxn was greyed out.
One more thing: One respondent, using Acrobat Reader 9.2, had a note at the top of the page saying that he could not save or send responses; could only print the survey!
    HUH??

You need Acrobat Pro, unless you have a Mac, and then you can "Save as PDF" from the print settings.

  • Users unable to save data in .pdf

    Greetings,
I created a rather simple form in LiveCycle Designer 8.2.  However, when users open the form in Acrobat Reader 9.0+ they are informed that they cannot save the data in the file and that it must be printed out.  I've looked through Ted Padova/Angie Okamoto's PDF Forms using LiveCycle Bible and have found nothing that can remotely explain this.  Perhaps I have missed a step, an option or saved it correctly.  Can anyone out there give me a hint, an explaination, or a fix for this problem?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
The issue is that the form will have certain restrictions when opened in Reader. For example, users cannot save the data that they have entered into the form.
There is a step you can take, which is to "Reader Enable" the form before you send it out. There are two approaches:
You can Reader Enable the form using Acrobat Standard v9 and above or Acrobat Pro v8.
You can use the full server product LC Reader Extensions ES2 to apply the Reader rights.
The features that are available to the user will depend on which was you apply the Reader rights.
    For example:
In your situation, you are at Option 2: form is not Reader Enabled and the user opens the form in Reader.
In order to enable the user to be able to save the data in the form, you need to get to Option 3 (enabling the form using Acrobat) OR Option 4 (enabling the form using LC Reader Extensions).
There is more information here: http://assure.ly/etkFNU.
Please note that there are licensing restrictions in Reader Enabling a form in Acrobat. Also you need to Reader Enable the form before you send it out to the users.
    Hope that helps,
    Niall

  • Unable to save an edited PDF file

I have some PDF files that I need to sign, whenever I place my signature and click save I get an error message saying "The file may be read-only, or another user may heve it open. Please save the document with a different name or in a different folder". I am currently using adobe Pro 9 with windows 7 64bit and Im trying to save it into a network drive.
Doing a little research, I found that there is a bug on the application, if the file is selected/highlighted on the folder where I opened the PDF, I get the error message, and if I unselect the file or close the window from which I opened the file, I am able to save it with no problems at all.
Is there any patch or is adobe going to fix this?

  • Unable to save or print .pdf using Safari 7.02. and Reader 11.0.6. (reinstalled reader) files ("save

Using Mac 10.9.2 and Reader 11.0.6 and Safari 7.0.2, problem seems to be linked to Safari
Files - using "save as" (.pdf) or "print as" (.pdf) appear as adobe single-page blank documents.  When attempting to open them the following error message appears: "Adobe Reader could not open "filename.pdf" because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).
Files created under previous versions of Reader are fine.  No problem converting an existing .doc to .pdf using  Reader 11.0.6
    Any suggestions?

    Hi ramsey32 ,
Thank You for posting in the forums. Kindly help with the information listed below for further assistance.
    1) Does the PDF open fine in safari
    2) Do you get a floating toolbar at the bottom, if yes, choose the save icon from there to save the PDF
    3) Do the files open fine with Preview?
    Thanks,

  • Unable to save/update the Adobe PDF in the H drive

    Hi,
I am unable to save/update the PDF which is designed by Adobe Live Cycle Designer ES3 version in any drive other than C drive or desktop.
Please guide me on how to solve this problem.
    Thanks,

Sounds like a permissions issue on your machine. Contact your system administrator.

  • Cannot save or print pdf from safari in Snow Leopard

Just recently have been unable to save or print PDF documents from two different websites using either Safari or FireFox on Snow Leopard (10.6). The same websites can be accessed, saved or printed on a different computer using Safari and Lion (10.7). Looking for help.

Found a previous post that suggested doing a Right Click on the PDF form in the Safari Window and then printing from the pop-up menu. This does work. Also, on one of the PDF forms there was a pop-up menu at the bottom of the form that appears only when you move the mouse pointer to the bottom of the form. From this memu I could either save or print. But, just using the Safari File>Print command did not work.
Although both of the alternate techniques work, it is still a mystery why this behavior should suddenly appear.

  • I am unable to save my form responses as a pdf or excel file.

I am unable to save my form responses as a pdf or excel file.  The error message states: Acrobat.com could not save this file. The file might be open in another application and cannot be overwritten.

Did saving ever work or did it fail the first time you tried?
Have you tried to save to multiple locations?  Maybe it has something to do with permissions on the directory you are trying to save to.
Have you tried saving something from another web site to the same location?  Try creating and saving a file in/from https://workspaces.acrobat.com/app.html#o and see if that has the same result.
    Thanks,
    Josh
