Unable to set cookie preferences in safari 5.1.5 by going to safari/preferences/privacy. It used to be there and now there is nothing showing under that tab.

I had looked at the cookies a couple of weeks ago. I deleted all cookies.
A few days ago my email was hacked into which sent a spam email to all my contacts. I changed my password to that account, warned everyone in my contacts, and haven't had a problem with email since.
However, I tried to do the 'delete all cookies' again and when I go to safari/preferences/privacy...there is nothing on that screen under that tab. Not even a question mark. I changed my history items to be removed every day from every week but don't think that would be the issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Uninstall SIMBL as follows.
Select Go ▹ Go to Folder… from the Finder menu bar, then enter the following text in the box that opens:
/Library
A folder will open. From that folder, delete the items listed below (some may be absent.) You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
Application Support/SIMBL
InputManagers/SIMBL.bundle
LaunchAgents/net.culater.SIMBL.Agent.plist
ScriptingAdditions/SIMBL.osax
Log out and log back in.
Make sure you never reinstall SIMBL. It’s likely to come bundled with another third-party system modfication that depends on it. If you want trouble-free computing, avoid software that makes miraculous changes to other software, especially built-in applications. The only real exception to that rule is Safari extensions, which are mostly safe, and are easy to get rid of when they don’t work. SIMBL and its dependents are not Safari extensions.

It's not a virus.
Your ISP (Internet Service Provider) is redirecting your browser. Use Open DNS to avoid that. Open DNS adds security and anti phishing filters and it's free.
Open System Preferences / Preferences then select the Network tab. Click the Advanced tab then click the DNS tab.
Click +
Enter these numbers exactly as you see them here.

I opened iCal back up, all the dates were blank, so i started to type events into a date.
As soon as I started to double click a date to type an event, magically all the events in all the months reappeared.

Your source video file is probably muxed.
Neither QT Pro or iTunes has the ability to successfully encode a muxed video file with audio. You'll end up with video and no audio.
See: iPod plays video but not audio of some exported files.
You'll need to use some other third-party software to do the conversion. There's a handful of software available. Just search the forums and you'll find many titles mentioned.
Try MPEG Streamclip.

In Firefox Options / Privacy be sure "Remember download history" is checked. To see all of the options on that panel, "Firefox will" must be set to "Use custom settings for history".
To find your OS information, on your Windows desktop, right-click the My Computer icon, choose Properties, under System on that small window is info about your OS.

I'm afraid it's likely that they're gone for good. To double check, go to http://bookmarks.mac.com and login to see if your bookmarks have synched to there.
If they are present there, check your sync settings in the System Preferences -> .Mac area to see if you can synch them back to the computer.
If they're not present there then they're gone...
If you want to backup the bookmarks manually in future, copy this file to a safe location:
Hard drive -> Users -> Your username -> Library -> Safari -> Bookmarks.plist

Sorry, without knowing the Apple ID/Password that was originally used to activate this phone, then there is no way to re-activate it, as you've found out.
Apple can't/won't help you. Your choice is to get this info, or you simply won't be able to re-activate this phone.
If you ex won't give it to you, then consult a lawyer.

I used the parental controls and now safari won't appear on the children's desktop.

Can anybody help please?? I created a separate user account for my children so I could control their time on the computer as well as what websites they visit and now when they log in, Safari is not present on their dashboard nor can they access the internet. Anybody have any ideas?

Trying to set up Express to extend network. Had problems and now it does not show up in the Utility window? How can I overcome this?

On the AirPort Extreme setup.....I assume that you did enter a check mark in the box next to "Allow this network to be extended"
Otherwise, the following instructions will be of no value.
Temporarily, connect the Ethenret cable from your computer to the AirPort Express (AX) and power up the AX in the same room or close proximity to the AirPort Extreme.
Open AirPort Utility, select the AX, and click Manual Setup
Click the Base Station tab just below the row of icons to name the AX, assign a device password (write that down) and adjust Time Zone settings
Click the Wireless tab next to the Base Station tab. Settings should look like this:
Wireless Mode = Extend a wireless network
Wireless Network Name = Same name as the AirPort Extreme wireless network
Check mark entered next to Allow Wireles Clients
Wireless Security = Same setting as the AirPort Exreme network
Wireless Password = Same password as the AirPort Extreme network
Confirm Password
Click Update
As soon as you see the message that the settings have been stored, close AirPort Utility and disconnect the Ethernet cable
Wait 40-45 seconds for the AX to restart and you should have a green light
Locate the AX approximately 1/2 the distance from the AirPort Extreme to the area that needs more wireless coverage and power it up
The AX should now be providing more wireless coverage

Hi. I am having a really crazy problem. I am running Apache on Solaris with the WebLogic
proxy plugin and I am also having one WebLogic server running on a different machine(Solaris
again). When I connect to the WebLogic Server using the Apache -WebLogic bridge and
login to the system , on the appserver I have a jsp page which basically creates
a session, stores the login info and does a response.sendRedirect() to the main page
of the application.
However there is no cookie with the session id being created . If I directly accessed
the appserver without the Apache plugin, then everything works fine with a cookie
containing the session id being created. Is there some thing that needs to be done
on the Apache side to enable cookies.
If instead of doing a redirect, I do a encodeRedirectURL and then redirect to the
main page , then the session id is in the URL and everything is OK. Is there a problem
creating cookies thru the apache plugin.
Any advice or response will be greatly appreciated.

1. GO TO THE TOOL BAR WHERE IT SAYS SAFARI AND CLICK TO BRING DOWN THE MENU OF OPTIONS, CLICK ON PREFERENCES
2.INSTEAD OF JUST CLICKING ON THE GENERAL TAB AND CHANGING THE SEARCH ENGINE LIKE EVERY OTHER STUPID SUPPORT TELLS YOU TO DO LOOK AT THE TAB THAT SAYS EXTENSIONS.

Chances are you downloaded something that was made by a third party to "enhance" your web experience but really they just screwed you over, YOU CAN CHOOSE TO SIMPLY UNINSTALL ANY EXTENSIONS PUT ON YOUR COMPUTER BY CLICKING INSTALL, BUT TO BE SURE THAT THIS IS THE ROOT OF YOUR PROBLEM IN THE SECOND COLUMN SIMPLY CLICK ON THE UNDERLINED NAME OF WHO THE EXTENSION IS MADE BY IF CLICKING THE LINK BRINGS UP A YAHOO PAGE THIS IS THE SOURCE OF YOUR ISSUES AND SIMPLY UNINSTALLING THIS WILL RID YOU OF THIS DUMB PROBLEM!!

I have never used Safari on my Mac yet it has frequently just stepped in, uses it's theme and no other, hx, bkmks, contacts, all gone! Is this due to Ff crashing?

Safari! It's Ff, sort of, but shows no ext's or addons and won't even show themes. The last year or so Ff has crashed often and even more often will not quit and must be "forced quit." Often I can't tell what's hung up til it's too late. Fixed 3 days ago, messed up again. Granted, I was all over the place uninstalling old apps etc and trying to corner Safari or delete it, but I don't pile up a million windows. I've been emptying trash "secure" style and it takes hours; that had just finished. But when I tried to find a contact to add to the game and resume the order, OH! and at the end of the 60" free trial...the screen was shattered like a windows blue screen moment.
